I found out Friday after a doctor's appointment due to stomach pain, I'm 28 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How Could I not have known. I feel like such an idiot. I am in total shock. I am 40, have three kids already (16,11,and 3. My husband and I decided two years ago we would have no more. I had accepted this and started to move on.
I am now expecting a baby so so soon!
I feel like a complete fool, the doctor actually laughed.

I have cried all weekend and realised I will now have to tell the dc?
I am so worried what they will be like.
My mother was so unsympathetic, she just kept saying I can't understand how you couldn't have known. I was on the pill and I thought it was early menopause as this is common in my family.

My dh husband is so pleased, I am just so shocked.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Hiya am due 17 feb, it is no 4 too! Haven't found out the sex, I love a surprise. Have 2x ds's and 1 dd. So opposite to you.

There is a really friendly feb thread on antenatal!

Take care.

Don't be embarrassed. It just makes me think that you are a very energetic, selfless person who is too busy doing things for others to dwell on herself.

If you have time, there's a great column in the Guardian called "A New Mum Again....at 48!" which is written by a female GP who already has several kids, and fell pregnant again by accident.

It is funny, moving and describes some of he feelings you're going through:

Bloody Hell! How amazing - massive congratulations and best wishes to all of you!!

larry5 · 20/11/2010 13:55

Congratulations. I had my dd at 40 after a 15 and half year gap and I really enjoyed having a baby after that time. My older two boys were a great help and loved looking after her.

Best wishes to you all.

Larry Same here! I had DC4 at 40 after a 15 year gap. I have a DC3 but he is adopted so I had totally forgotten about the whole pregnancy bit. Little tip to anyone interested - your body doesnt just remember Shock

Really loving this thread. I have had a really really crap week and this has bought a warm glow Smile

EnnisDelMar · 21/11/2010 21:10

FANTASTIC thread! Meggy...all the very best, you've made my evening! Grin

and yes, joining the ranks of 'I want one too' EnvySmile

Babies are so lovely aren't they...

geraldinetheluckygoat · 21/11/2010 22:04

Agreed this is a LOVELY thread Smile Its always nice when good news unfolds on a thread isn't it?

Ghoulysses · 21/11/2010 22:16

That's amazing and terrific news!! Im 21 weeks now in awe that you are so far along. I feel I have moaned about this pregnancy every step of the way, you must be so selfless. Hope you get pampered the rest of the term, sounds like you deserve it.

duchesse · 23/11/2010 11:01

Can I join in with the Envy please? Would secretly love to suddenly discover that a new baby was coming in a few weeks. Nearly 43 here and am secretly toying with a near sibling for DD3 (15 months nearly) given the 12+ year age gaps between her and her siblings.

Many many congratulations. Your daughter's reaction made me well up too and that takes a lot.

Bloody hell - I can't imagine finding out now that I was going to have a baby on the 16th of January.... Shock

Then your DH saying he wants the sex to be a suprise - you'd think this would have been sufficent 'suprise' for him for a bit!

I am really really pleased that you are both happy about it and that your kids were so excited too - your DD is a star x

Wonderful news about your DH too :)
