Hi

I'm 39wks pregnant and I started to read Gina Ford's The New Contended little baby's book to get myself prepared for the new life with the baby.

There seen to be so much to remember and I'm totally confused of how to feed and sleep the baby...So many rules and routines.

Babies aren't machines and I have some doubts about her way of training the babies...

Can someone explain to me how her method works (in layman's term) and I'm interested to hear your experience?

Thanks

Thanks all for your comments.

LoopyLoops - I think you've summarised it for me, I think I'll get to know my baby(vice versa) and get a grip of breatsfeeding THEN think about how I'd like to spend everyday with her!
If I need some advice I might flick through the books/speak to other mums/health visitors/MNetters etc.

Like some people said, bringing up a baby isn't like cooking where it comes with an instruction - or it comes with various ways of instructions and theres no right or wrong way of doing it.

Thanks everyone

People get a bit silly about the whole GF/Mumsnet thing - it all happened aaaages ago, and before that GF used to be a regular poster and even was one of the first (and well regarded) web chatees.

GF can be great. It either works for you or it doesn't. There are plenty of other approaches out there. Use your common sense and it will be fine.

I did think the babywhisperer book was shite mind you, although she came across as a very nice person
