Did anyone have a 'feeling' about the sex from early on? So far as only picking boys names or only looking at girls clothes?

and were you right?

From about 6 weeks I've felt this was a boy.

It doesn't feel like a hunch, it just feels like he is.

For example, I find myself looking at boys names, looking at boy bundles on ebay and skipping through the next directory straight to the blue baby stuff.

I accept I may be wrong but I feel like I'm 95% right!

Did anyone else have this? and were you right?

PS, its not a case of me wanting a son, I already have 2 (and 1 DD) so I don't think its anything like that!

Yep and yep.

Wouldn't even discuss a boys name.

Had a girl.

Beveridge · 19/09/2010 20:51

I was convinced from early on I was having a boy.

I was totally wrong! Grin

Igglybuff · 19/09/2010 20:52

Yes I did. Then at the 12 week scan, the Dr (he did medical research based on ultrasound etc) said he could guess the sex - although too early really. He said a boy, confirmed at 20 weeks.

So DS was always a boy to me! Although I did have a sudden panic at 40 weeks that they were all wrong...!

SparklyJules · 19/09/2010 21:01

I was sure I was carrying a boy as symptoms were SO different from my DD's pregnancy and when I heard the heartbeat for first time at 16wks I was convinced I was having a boy. The feeling grew stronger throughout the pregnancy, despite numerous extra growth scans I never asked the sex, but when giving birth I actually shouted "get HIM out!"!

I had a boy. I just knew it, it was so weird!

cowboylover · 19/09/2010 21:32

I am only 7 weeks but always say 'he' when talking to DH about it!

I hope I do as when shopping in Mothercare last week with my bessie mate for her baby I kept holding things up saying this is neutral and she shock her head and said defo for boys only Confused guess I am a tomboy sometimes x

LauraNorder · 19/09/2010 21:34

Yes but only with DD1 - had a very strong feeling I was having a girl, so strong that I would have made them check if they'd said a boy. But while pregnant with DS and DD2 I didn't get that feeling again.

ChequeredFlag · 19/09/2010 21:35

I was convinced I was having a girl, bought girl clothes even. I was so surprised when he was delivered and the nurse said he was a boy, took me a while to adjust; I wasn't disappointed, was quite happy to have a boy, but definitely took some re-thinking.

tattycoram · 19/09/2010 21:38

I was sure DS was a boy - and he was. I was sure that this pg was a girl until about a month ago (am 35 weeks now). Am much less sure now. I was dippy enough to buy some girls clothes in the sales tho

KatnKankles · 19/09/2010 21:40

I have 4 and with every one I 'knew' by about 12 weeks.
With my DS I just had a feeling, we didn't have any sexing scans (14 years ago wasnt routine). I bought blue things and was right.

My last 3 were all girls and I was convinced from very early on. Confirmed by scans.

It's very strange.

Yes I just knew from the start this one was a boy, found out at 3.5 weeks and everything just felt different, I've had two scans now and he's def a boy!
My sister with her 2nd was convinced it was a girl after having 1 boy before, so much so that when he was born and they said its a boy she asked them to check again lol, she's just had her 5th and guessed wrong again though so hasn't got any better with experience Grin

NoahAndTheWhale · 19/09/2010 22:32

Was very sure with both children.

And was wrong with both children Grin

nooka · 19/09/2010 22:38

We were convinced we were having another boy second time around. We were wrong!

Thing is you have a 50:50 chance of being right, I don't think strength of feeling or many of the myths about lie etc have any credence, although there is some evidence that morning sickness can be worse when carrying a boy (but I think this is only true for those that have the sort of morning sickness that lands them in hospital).

Blu · 19/09/2010 22:41

Yes, I knew imediately that I was pg - the next morning, anyway, and that he was a boy. DP knew, too. Back then, had I been able to choose my heart of heart choice, I would have picked 'girl', but I knew DS was a boy, asked not to be told the sex at 20wk scan, as I wanted to wait, but still never got round to choosing a girls name!

jennifersofia · 19/09/2010 22:44

Yes, I did for all three girls. Somehow I just knew.

HighlandlassinLondonshire · 19/09/2010 22:44

I'm 17 weeks and from about 8 weeks, i am sure that we are having a boy. No reason just a hunch.

Never wanted to find out the sex before, but now I'm really really keen at 20 weeks to ask.

I was of the understanding that morning sickness was worse if you're having girl??

Horton · 19/09/2010 22:47

Convinced that I was having a boy. Totally convinced. Was a girl, confirmed at 20 week scan. No morning sickness at all, btw.

addictedisgettingexcited · 20/09/2010 04:17

right from the beginning i was convinced i was having a girl, at 20 week scan lady said, 'more than likely a girl' i have 1 unisex baby grow (just incase) but all rest of clothes are pink. i have girls name sorted, but only a vage idea of boys names. i'm 33 weeks atm so we shall see!

Bella32 · 20/09/2010 04:36

Yup. Was totally convinced it was a boy. Picked out lots of boys names, no girls names, the lot.

Almost died of shock when the midwife placed a baby girl in my arms. As did dh Grin

addictedisgettingexcited · 20/09/2010 04:57

actually my mum was convinced her dc5 (was ment to be her last one) was a girl, pick out a girls name, but did buy all neuteral stuff. she had a dream where she saw her and everything

when db was born my mum didnt believe it, the midwife had to hold him up, whilst still attached to her to prove she had given birth to a boy.

after the birth my mum was very confused and didnt understand how she could be wrong (she had been right with the previous 4 dc) then 3 years later fell pregnant with dc6 who is a girl and looks exactly how my mum saw her in her dream.

Hermya321 · 20/09/2010 06:57

I knew I was having a boy from the start and three very obvious scans later, he's still a boy.

Am 35 weeks at the moment, so we'll see if it all goes accordingly.

I have a girls name just in case though.

Adair · 20/09/2010 07:00

I 'knew' I was having a girl.
But guess what? i am having a (pretty definite) boy!

TotorosOcarina · 20/09/2010 09:09

Ooh thats spooky addicted

performancegirl · 20/09/2010 09:19

i knew DS1 was a boy, with DS2 i thought hte probably would be but didn't 'know' in the same way.

In fact when we had the 20wk scan with DS1 they said he was a girl at first. I knew they were wrong so asked them to double check- they did and he was in fact a boy!

neytiri · 20/09/2010 09:35

with my first, i just knew it was a girl. only had a girls name picked out, and was right. but with my second, i had no clue what it was going to be.
