Dreemagurl · 25/08/2010 15:15

We've called ours "Cornichon" as my DP's nickname for me is "Pickle" and Cornichons are little mini pickles - mainly over in France I think (my DP is half French). My SIL called hers Jelly and my friend called hers Fraggle.
:)

Highly unimaginative- the baby!

miamix · 25/08/2010 15:20

Maybe it's just me but I find it hilarious to say to my dog "don't sit on the fetus!" when he parks his arse on my belly!

Generally OH and I just call ours little girl/she/her, etc... we don't actually find out for a couple of weeks; I occasionally ask her if she's got a penis but she hasn't responded Grin

Little Khongor. My DH has obsession with all things Mongolian.

glacierchick · 25/08/2010 15:27

The bairn, or the wee one.

DH now also sometimes calls me (very affectionately) the little ones (plural) as I was always little one before.

(Not that I am actually that little, but he's very big, so I always look it...)

I was quite careful to refer to it as embryo or foetus earlier on as didn't want to get too attached in case of issues, but then the hormones arrived....

youbethemummylion · 25/08/2010 15:30

DS1 was Jelly cos when I found out I was pregnant with him he was the size of a Jelly Baby DS2 was pea cos when I found out with him he was only the size of a pea.

sanielle · 25/08/2010 15:34

Interesting how many are food related! Is that because in books they always give you the sizes in terms of fruit? Or because pregnant woman think of food all day? Grin

BOB

redbird79 · 25/08/2010 15:48

Ours is Bean. My DH named it in the very early stages because foetuses (sp?) look a bit bean-like Hmm and it has totally stuck. Even to the point that our family and friends call it Bean in everyday conversation. I do wonder if the nickname will stay even when it is actually born and properly named- poor thing!

Smithy1979 · 25/08/2010 15:49

Pip (size of apple Pip early on!) or Babykins.

podmumlet · 25/08/2010 15:51

My OH's took to calling the baby Bean too..

My OH and I though call it Sprout :) :)
Alternatively known as sproglet :)

cyteen · 25/08/2010 15:52

Mine was 'the squid'.

redbird79 · 25/08/2010 15:54

Interestingly, if you do want a fruit/size comparison, this website is ace fun! community.babycenter.com/post/a12175855/baby_size_compared_to_fruit

Mahraih · 25/08/2010 16:01

I call it Baby or the Fetus (as in, 'don't aim for the fetus, DP!' when playing ping pong).

DP calls it Baby or Sprog.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/08/2010 16:15

Sputnik - yes I'm a geek Grin

Muser · 25/08/2010 16:16

Like Fanjo, mine is a Bob. After Bob from Blackadder, handy for a boy or a girl. If I have another I may call it Steve because I find the idea very funny.

parkj83 · 25/08/2010 16:25

Fidget! Cos it never keeps still for long! :o

Raahh · 25/08/2010 16:26

DH has an app on his phone called 'What to Expect' and each week it likens the size of the baby to something foody. In the first weeks we went around saying things like 'ooh, it's a poppy seed'

This week (34) she is a large canteloupe!

At one point, Dh walked into a school governers meeting and announced "we're having a sweet potato!" Grin bless!
(although we now know what flavour we are having, and usually refer to her by a version of the name we have chosen).

Dysgu · 25/08/2010 17:01

My first was called 'Stanley' after we joked about calling it that and everyone was aghast (4-5 years ago). We didn't call her that once she had arrived!

The second was called BITB (pronounced bit-bee) as was 'Baby In The Belly'. We didn't call her that on arrival either!

DuncanDisorderly · 25/08/2010 17:18

Cletus.

ethelina · 25/08/2010 17:21

Weeble - cos until he was turned 2wks ago he was breech. Weebles wobble but they dont fall down...

flower1988 · 25/08/2010 18:05
