Because fetus is a god awful word.

Mine is a marmot.

Mine is called Baby Badger (or BB) -- my pet name for its dad is The Old Badger.

ihaveaplan · 25/08/2010 18:07

Mini

I pray it's not going to be a girl because whatever we ended up calling her for real she'd probably forever be known as mini.

hmmSleep · 25/08/2010 18:10

'it' Blush, that's awful isn't it (rushes off to think of more appropriate name for the poor little thing)

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 25/08/2010 18:26

Just baby, nothing more imaginative!

MissCKitty · 25/08/2010 19:44

Ours is the bean. Simply cos of how it looked on the first scan Smile

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 19:46

I did call both of mine "jelly babies" for a short while when first conceived Blush but it graduated to baby quite quickly. I didn't like foetus either.

FloraPost · 25/08/2010 20:25

Barry. As in Barry the blastocyst, which is what it was when we found out. It was Ziggy the zygote for about 30 secs before we realised that was biologically incorrect.

Miffster · 25/08/2010 20:48

Tiny Clanger up to 12 weeks, now just Tiny at 24 weeks.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2010 21:01

I used to work with someone called Herb, because that was what his dad had named him as a foetus! He had been named Andrew once born but no-one ever called him that, so the name you use now can stick :)

me23 · 25/08/2010 21:11

Egbert! As dp jokes that is what it will be called, regardless of sex Grin

ReshapeWhileDamp · 25/08/2010 21:35

Foetus, until I felt comfortable and safer - about 14 weeks!

Now it's The Baby, as I'm really boring (but also I mostly talk about him to DS, and he can cope with the idea of a Baby in Mummy's Tummy, but not with some entity with an odd name). He's Segundus with DH, as a sort of holding pattern name, while we rack our brains for another boy's name we actually fancy! Grin

sanielle · 25/08/2010 21:56

Pissing myself at Barry the blastocyst!

ButtonAzure · 25/08/2010 22:33

I've called mine Button since i found out about it, (as in cute as a :) - not so imaginative but nevermind!)

MummyGeorgie · 25/08/2010 23:19

Either baby bump

or

our nige'...... dh is a) trying to convince himself and me that its a) a boy and b) that Nigel is a great name.... after Nigel Mansell Hmm

MacMomo · 26/08/2010 09:20

"the Prawn" because the pictures of early foetuses looked like prawns. Nice to know there is another Prawn out there!

Not sure what to call Prawn now we know it's a girl - Prawn seems a bit unfeminine...

EmmieA · 26/08/2010 09:29

Button

Portofino · 26/08/2010 09:47

We called ours Myrtle. Blush Lord knows why.....

Jenko77 · 26/08/2010 09:49

LOL at 'Myrtle' and 'Egbert'!!

Since DH told me to look after myself as I was carrying his legacy, it's kind of stuck...

"Opps, mind the legacy"
"Your legacy is kicking me in the bladder"
"Your legacy really needs chocolate and a cup of tea...."

whirleywoo72 · 26/08/2010 12:27

im 36wks and for months she was called jellybean because she was the size of one, then it went to bump, and now im ready and she wont settles and always on the go, is called grace xxx i usually call her little witch, in the middle of the night.

MoJangles · 26/08/2010 13:01

Loving 'the legacy'! Grin

I was an 'Egbert' when in the womb too - thank goodness my parents reconsidered!

Mine is Mo - had IVF and called the 3 embryos Meenie, Miney and Mo. Entire family and all friends now saying Mo - kid is doomed to be called that for 20 years no matter what actual name we come up with!

ceasar04 · 26/08/2010 13:19

DS1 was "The Dude" after we knew he was a boy and I am currently 25 weeks pg with "Baby GaGa" (don't know sex of this one)named by my 6 year old niece.

She's very cool!!

EMS23 · 26/08/2010 13:31

MoJangles - it must be my hormones but your 3 embryos called Meenie, Miney and Mo just made me cry! I seriously need to get a hold on my emotions!

bigredtractor · 26/08/2010 13:57

Gollum - 'cause that's what he looked like at our last scan... :)
