My dd (4) wanted to talk to the baby so she came and sat with me and started talking to my boob. When I asked what she was doing, she said she was talking to the baby, 'thats its head'. I had to explain (without laughing, this was very hard) that my boob was not the babys head!

Also, a little boy at her pre school went around telling everyone his mummy had a cat in her tummy!

My dd 2.9 did the whole talking to the boobs thing at the beginning i assumed it was because my boobs were suddenly enormous (which she did comment on Blush) and I didn't have a bump. Never asked her why she thought the baby was in my boob should have done it would probably have been amusing.

She now sings the alphabet song constantly to my bump and if this baby doesn't come out singing it I will be very surprised Grin

DS 3 thinks he's having a baby too Hmm Every time you ask him where the baby is, he lifts his shirt and points to his tummy......I'm now coming up for 38 weeks, and I think the penny has finally dropped!!

Dd2(8) suddenly said to me last week ' mammy you have a big tummy' I'm 30 weeks , huge bump all the way through but apparently she had just noticed!

Hazeyjane · 10/08/2010 14:14

When I was pregnant with ds, dd2 (3) used to walk around sticking her stomach out, and telling people that she had Baby Jesus in her tummy (she has a strange obsession with Baby Jesus). If people asked her who was in mummy's tummy, she would say, 'Baby Marshmallow'.

notso · 10/08/2010 14:23

Not long after we told DC about the baby due in December, DS (5) was sitting on the toilet, he said very solemnly "Don't try to do a difficult poo in December or the baby might fall into the toilet!"

YummyMummy1208 · 10/08/2010 15:38

when my belly first started getting bigger my 2 yr old came out with 'Mummy Belly Fat!'
Bless him, was so cute!

youngblowfish · 10/08/2010 16:04

What a brilliant thread! The Baby Jesus story made me roar with laughter!

Rocklover · 10/08/2010 16:37

My dd (5) is obsessed with my boobs and keeps commenting on how big and lovely they are, she also keeps stroking them. Hmm

We have bought her a few books, so she knows the basic process and keeps patting me whilst looking very solemn and saying "I know you feel sick mummy and you will until the baby comes out". I bloody hope not!

Raahh · 10/08/2010 16:46

DD (4) talks to baby through my belly button. Think her brother used to do the same. She is also very worried i will 'pop' somewhere inappropriate. Like Tesco.

I have posted this before, but it still makes me laugh- we were in a public loo, she was in with me, and loudly started discussing my pubic hair. At a loss for what to say when she asked why it was there, and when shush didn't, i told her it was to keep the baby warm.

I avoided all eye contact with the women in the toilets on the way out.

Unfortunately DD now repeats this whenever we are in a toilet cubicle together...Hmm

When asked is it a Boy or Girl in my tummy, my godson aged 3 answered Bogey...

EndangeredSpecies · 10/08/2010 16:54

freakily they both told me, on separate days, that "there's a baby in your tummy" before I even knew.

deemented · 10/08/2010 16:55

When pregnant with DS3, DS2, aged five asks...

'Mammy, wh put that baby in your tummy?'

'S did,' I replied.

He thought about this for a minute and then said, most indignantly...

'Well I never saw him'

Madasajarofwasps · 10/08/2010 17:32

Ha ha, this is a funny thread Grin.

My dd2 (3) wanted to know if I was having a kitten or a fish Confused

dd1 (5) wanted to know if the baby would come out of my front or back bottom. When I said front, she screamed "but that's so small it's really going to hurt" as if the back bottom option would be much better!!

She also declared this morning when seeing me topless, "oh mummy the baby's not going to be hungry is it!!"

I am only 10 weeks, could be a long few months - I might keep a notepad handy..

Wallace · 10/08/2010 19:25

Ds2 (4) tries to look down my throat to see the baby Grin

Dd (9) Wjhen told I was pregnant said "Does that mean you had SEX, Mummy?" I replied that yes, this is how babies are made. She then said "But you're too OLD for sex!" I'm 31...

bevl81 · 10/08/2010 19:36

Ha Ha lol at this thread!

When I pointed to my tummy last week and asked DD age 3 if she knew what was in my tummy, she didn't know, so I said there's a baby in there. She laughed, poked me in the stomach and said 'there's no baby in there - it's just a BIG FAT BELLY!'

Charming...

Wholelottalove · 10/08/2010 20:32

DD (2.4) will come up and solemnly pat my tummy and say 'tummy...bigger' or 'boobies...bigger'.

The other day I was lying on my side in bed when she came up and patted me on the behind and said, with a big grin, 'Ooh, mummy bum...bigger!'

LittleB · 10/08/2010 21:28

dd 5 is keen to talk to the baby and at first wanted to shout down my throat to it, shes now settled on talking through my belly button or holding an empty cardboard tube (kitchen towel one) aainst my belly and talking through that!
She also cuddles and kisses my tummy lots and tries to whisper secret things to it that I can't hear!

lullabellesmummy · 11/08/2010 20:56

thanks ladies, this has given me some great laughs! x

when ds was told that whatever I eat, baby gets, he insisted on giving me 2 kisses each time, and that I had to eat the 2nd kiss for the baby :o

rhools · 11/08/2010 22:20

My DD who is 4 said to me, "Mummy, I know why your belly is big. You have a fridge in your belly for the baby."

rhools · 11/08/2010 22:22

She also wanted to know how the baby got in my belly. She asked "did you eat a baby mummy?".

bevl81 · 13/08/2010 09:49

Daddy is having a baby too apparently, or so my DD has judged by the size of his gut.

remindmelater · 13/08/2010 15:47

DD (3) leant forward, as i was about to take her out the car seat, poked my protruding belly button and said "Ding Dong!"

She knows she's having a baby sister, and tells me she has a baby brother in her tummy and he is going to make his exit out her mouth. Gross and sweet at the same time!

Candinha · 14/08/2010 20:16

This thread has really made me giggle, so I thought I would share some of the comments I had from DC1 (4) and DC2 (2 1/2).

'Is baby dressed in your tummy?' DC1
'has baby came out' while walking downstairs in the morning DC2
'Is baby happy in there?' DC1
Today when DC2 bumped my bump and I said 'be careful you will hurt the baby' DC2 replied 'he will need 'george' (cooling pouch) and I will put a plaster on him'

They cheer me up while I am here waiting for dc 3 to make an appearance.
