6 month old twins and I can't cope anymore. I went to the Drs yesterday and I have therapy in 2 weeks. I just can't do this anymore, I'm exhausted, I feel trapped, I'm sick of all the advice people try and give when they don't have to live it so it's so easy to dish all the advice out. I never get a minutes peace from the minute they wake up to the minute they're asleep I'm constantly holding a baby! Just needed to vent :(

I agree about the noise. Once we started to put our boys to bed we didn't even want to breathe till we left their room.

I remember when we first put them in their own room me and dp put them into their cots, they were both fast asleep. We tiptoed across the room and very slowly closed the door, when it closed the sound resembled a sonic boom SmileLuckily they didn't wake up!

Once we were downstairs I looked at dp who had turned a slight shade of mauve and was finally breathing ( poor thing had held his breath the whole time)! We then spent the rest of the evening shushing each other and trying not to make any noise.

Funny enough the babies only decided to wake up about an hour after me and dp had fallen asleep Angry

mummyoftwincesses · 25/06/2018 07:16

Haha sounds about right makemine! We had a couple of hours at a little local festival on sat, and they both slept through the band! Yet the electric toothbrush wakes them up!!
They both woke a few times last night, I can barely keep my eyes open, and they're crying now because they're tired. Don't understand why they fight their sleep so much Sad

No advice from me either but another one saying YOU ROCK!!!!

I'm in absolute, 100%, total and utter awe of twin mums - especially One like you who is trying so hard and whose love completely shines out from your posts.

One more day done - sending good luck vibes for another good one today. And if it's not, ah well, at least it's another one done!

mummyoftwincesses · 25/06/2018 08:09

Aww thanks so much that's really nice of you. Atleast the sun is shining! That always makes things better! X

Take my hat off to you OP.
I hope you have a good day today, what've you got planned?

mummyoftwincesses · 25/06/2018 13:41

We went to a reservoir, one of the girls just screamed all the way round, I've had to text my DP to see if he can come home, just don't feel mentally up to this right now. Normally going out is the way I stay sane. Not sure if he is allowed yet though

Verbena87 · 25/06/2018 17:13

Hold on tight! Can you put loud music on and dance them round the room? This weirdly does the trick for us if he’s on a crying kick (and as much as you feel a bit of a tit, it’s cathartic for you as well). Sending mellow-baby thoughts xxx

mummyoftwincesses · 27/06/2018 21:16

Well the girls were up every hour last night and started the day at 4am. One of them has already woken tonight and had to be settled back down. Dreading tonight already, I honestly don't know what's going on with them, feel like someone's swapped my babies. I can't cope going back to newborn stage with hardly any sleep when it's so hard in the day times! Sad

Verbena87 · 27/06/2018 21:23

Oh bugger, sorry to hear that. It is probably 6 month sleep regression - nothing you have done wrong and developmentally normal for them. Doesn’t make it any easier, but it can be helpful to know it’s not your fault and it will pass.

Sorry not to have anything more useful, sending hugs and gin!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/06/2018 21:25

Oh bloody hell OP. I really feel for you. Do your parents live nearby? Or sibling?

I know it won't make you feel drastically better but could you arrange to meet a friend for a coffee/lunch for a few hours this weekend?

Getting out of the house even for a short while on your own can lift you for a bit.

mummyoftwincesses · 27/06/2018 21:28

Thanks ladies! The gin is appreciated, anyone would think you knew me Grin!
I thought we'd got out of the 6 month sleep regression Envy has anyone been through it and have any idea how long it can last? What a nightmare. No my mum has passed away and my dad lives down south :(! My sister lives near by but is always busy. Will try see if I can get some help and a break over the weekend

Ah sorry about your mum OP.

You don't realise it but you're doing brilliant. Two tiny babies to look after and very little support! You are doing better than you think.

I do think it's really important thought to have some time out for yourself. I know you probably won't feel like it but a yoga/keep fit class once a week will give you a bit of a boost and it's something just for you.

Is it doable?

Is DH supportive?

mummyoftwincesses · 27/06/2018 21:51

Thank you.
Yeah he is brilliant bless him, it's a good job or I really wouldn't manage this. Past 2 mornings he's got up at 4 with them and let me sleep then gone to work.
Hmm well a few weeks back I started jogging with the dog and I felt better for that, so I will prob start that again soon when the weathers a bit cooler x

Baubletrouble43 · 27/06/2018 22:00

Aww mummy I'm so sorry. I remember the 4 am wake ups. Will they nap later in the morning and again at afternoon? If so YOU MUST SLEEP. fuck dishes, fuck hoovering, fuck everything. You're doing great. I know how hard this is. Deep respect xxx

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/06/2018 22:01

Phew glad to hear your DH is doing his bit.
Jogging is good! Gets you out of the house and gets you fit.

Keep going Flowers

mummyoftwincesses · 27/06/2018 22:08

They literally cat nap and not at the same time either, I literally feel so screwed right now SadSadSad10pm and 1 has already woke twice

Verbena87 · 27/06/2018 22:29

I think we had about a month of wonky sleep but it wasn’t every night so please don’t panic.

I’m really sorry about your mum, that’s so tough. Flowers

Running is magic - dying to get back to it but still trying to Kegel away the damage my 10lb9oz giant baby did to my pelvic floor. I go to a post natal Pilates class where you can bring babies - there are 2 instructors and they will soothe fussy babies while we get on with the class which is brilliant. There is a twin mum who comes to that and manages to get some exercise and guided relaxation done - maybe check if there’s anything similar in your area? And tell your sister you’re having a rough time and need even 15 minutes for tea and hugs,

mummyoftwincesses · 28/06/2018 05:33

I think I could cope if I knew how long it was going to last. It's just you hear so many horror stories about babies never sleeping well again! I wish we did have one of them classes around here it sounds great! I'm going to a buggy fitness class on Monday morning for the first time, so hopefully that will help too.
Was up about 4 times last night and they didn't get up at 4am like yesterday which is good, still shattered though. I've got up with them this morn to let DP have a lie in as he's done it the past 2 mornings. So tired!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/06/2018 07:11

Have you tried ringing Tamba OP? ( sorry if you've already said )

Sipperskipper · 28/06/2018 10:32

They will sleep again, although it doesn’t feel like it. During the 4 month sleep regression (which lasted about 2 months for us!) DD was waking every hour, every night. Now she sleeps all night. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

mummyoftwincesses · 28/06/2018 21:11

God 2 month 😩!!! I keep thinking should I be doing something, like not giving them milk or something Incase they get in the habit, but they if they're hungry they're hungry aren't they so I don't know!
No I haven't rang Tamba I don't really know what I'd say, I just like to rant I think 😂

How’s it going OP? Is it nearly time for your counselling appointment? Hope things are going ok; thinking of you.

mummyoftwincesses · 02/07/2018 20:23

So nice of you to ask! I'm okay, went to buggy fitness this morn, was great the girls were so good, felt on top of the world, then this aft they have been hard work and I've felt back to square 1! It is the 6 year anniversary of my mums death though which has probably contributed to how I've felt this afternoon. Counselling is tomorrow so I'm hoping I can start moving forward from them. It's not right how stressed and upset I get Just from a difficult afternoon. It's like that's all I see, the great morning we had just disappears!
