Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I heard that about the torch and worms late at night - it's when the little blighters come wrigglin out Grin

I had 12 x 7 year old girls round to the house on Saturday for DD1's party and I feel the need to spend the next week at a spa. Anyone care to join me??

castlesintheair · 07/02/2011 14:48

I also feel the need to correct myself: wriggling. Just in case you are concerned that I have descended into urban-text-speak-bling.

Wine anyone? It's that or the spa.

Indith · 07/02/2011 14:56

Gin. And a spa. For a week.

SatinShoes · 07/02/2011 17:58

wouldnt a spa be lovely! castles - we never did get around to meeting? Maybe in the summer holidays?

accessorizequeen · 07/02/2011 18:01

couldn't we have a Wine-filled spa week? bliss..
dd has just missed out on dessert due to throwing food, plate, water etc etc all over the floor. Both of them do it every single mealtime, every single day. I am so fed up of it.
No more rotting mansions to see at present. Rats.

Indith · 07/02/2011 18:07

the rotter, odes naughty step work on her at all? IDd has just started to really uderstand it and whipping her off her highchair and onto the step can solve it for us (for a couple of days anyway then she starts again but it does help).

You know if you'll be around Easter weekend AQ?

castlesintheair · 07/02/2011 18:28

AQ, do you just ignore the food throwing?

What happened to the first rotting mansion you went to see?

Satin, good idea let's meet in the summer!

accessorizequeen · 07/02/2011 21:30

I'm not ignoring it but doing naughty step with both seems hmm too difficult. I'm struggling to lift them at all, hip and coccyx probs back. I take the meal away if there's throwing, give them 2nd chance then meal is over. Clearly that's not making much of an mpact. Tbh feel like I spend all day saying no to somebody already. Both ill last week or so so it's worse but it never stops.
Last house too rotting for us castles! Small kitchen and cavern like us my main criteria for any house!
Indith, usually around at Easter although don't know precise movements yet!

Elibean · 08/02/2011 10:11

Confused from sleep deprivation after weekend of non-stop night coughs, but coming on here has at least made me grateful that both mine are back at school/pre-school and I have two whole hours to - well, I was going to say rest, but actually dowashingtidyupMNclearcompostofffrontpath.

I'm in for the week at a spa - love spas. Will bring stash of chocolate.

(I know I promised, but one quick ps - yes, torch thing, done that many times but never seen one to this day. Either they're very clever/quick, or we haven't had them and I'm just a paranoid neurotic Grin)

Elibean · 08/02/2011 10:12

AQ, sympathies on the food throwers - dd2 had a phase of doing that, used to drive me mad (and had me considering a dog, tbh).

jabberwocky · 08/02/2011 13:54

I would love a week at a spa! Still trying to recover cash flow at the office from snow days and they are predicting another tomorrow Angry I'm sure it will all balance out in the end...

I don't think we ever had too much with the food throwing although ds1 is still fairly messy when he eats. Still in a pull-up at night too at age 7. He has been doing pretty well recently so maybe we are at the end of that. Ds2 wears one at night as well, more so b/c ds1 still does but then will occasionally have a wet night so not sure when they will both come out of them Confused

castlesintheair · 08/02/2011 14:05

Jabber, my friend did body brushing with her 7 year old DS (on advice of OT) and it stopped night wetting after about 2 days. Having said that, I can't see the harm in wearing pull-ups if they prevent upset, not to mention reduce the washing!

My DS is 9 today. I can't believe I've only been a parent for that long. I definitely need time at a spa ...

jabberwocky · 09/02/2011 01:47

Oh,that is really interesting! Sadly, we did brushing a couple of years ago and it didn't really do anything. But that does make me wonder if we should try the new listening program I have been looking into.

accessorizequeen · 13/02/2011 14:20

hello how is everyone? we had a flurry and now you've all gone again back to RL. Was in Lakeland Ltd yesterday indith and thought of you and your lakeland stash, did it live up to expectation? Ooh, I love it in there. Pity I was called away to attend to poorly dp back home. A long story, but in A&E for several hours last night after I called an ambulance. Ended up it was stomach bug and he did his back in again so couldn't walk. We had only 2 dc for the weekend as well so I had great plans! Poor dp, he's been struggling since Christmas with this.
Must go, have just spotted some green & blacks, how did I miss that? Hope everyone else having a calming and 'well' weekend!

jabberwocky · 13/02/2011 14:30

Poor dp :( I hope he is better soon.

We set up for the Home Show for Friday and Saturday. Friday was crazy as the employee who was booked to work it got snowed in. She commutes about 45 minutes and got much more snow than we did this week. So, cue much re-arranging of staff and calling in favors. She made it in yesterday and we worked it together. I think it went well, actually. I guess time will tell if people actually do call and make appointments.

Dh and I had a "discussion" last night about the boys' bedtime. He wants them down earlier and I know he's right but I'm just too tired to fight with them both after working all day. He seems to think that his job of the night-time routine consists of bursting into the playroom and proclaiming bedtime Confused So...I guess we've worked it out but the conversation got a little tense :(

SatinShoes · 14/02/2011 13:33

Brew anyone?

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2011 17:04

nah, prefer Wine and Biscuit :)

castlesintheair · 14/02/2011 17:52

me too, AQ, prefer wine please, esp at this time of day Wink

jabberwocky · 16/02/2011 13:52

The clinic has been busy the last few days

Indith · 16/02/2011 21:56

Jabber have you seen that Pan is leaving? I know you and he have talked a lot over the years.

Hope Dp is ok AQ, sounds like a nasty bug.

The Lakeland box was very exciting. The oven was oven mated, the house was rid of all mould, sticky stuff was banished and the magic eraser has already had a very good workout.

Dh and I had a muchly lovely meal out and night in a hotel where we almost got a full night of sleep but were woken up by a few loud drunkards at 2.30am. On the plus side we were in a Premier and if you get disturbed at night you get a full refund. Bargain Grin. Then dd slept through the following night for the second time in her life Shock. I felt almost human on Monday. Sadly it has not lasted, every 45 mins or so last night.

jabberwocky · 17/02/2011 03:39

Indith, thank you so much for telling me about Pan. I was able to get a message to him as I lost his email when we moved and just caught up with him here and there on MN. I am amazed that you remembered he and I had chatted! You must have a superb memory Envy

Indith · 17/02/2011 16:25

I confess the memory was triggered by his mentioning you on his goodbye thread.

I am completely lost with regards to ds and toileting now I really am. Got back on track post chicken pox, I was starting to relax and bang, back to wetting constantly and soiling too. Course after a few days soiling he started to bloody well withold again. Got a few days of fibrogel left from last time he was on it so back to that and I suppose off to the Dr to beg for more. Not been able to go out to the park this afternoon because every single pair of pants and trousers he owns is either wet on the washing line or wet with wee and waiting to go in the wash tonight Angry.

jabberwocky · 18/02/2011 01:07

I didn't see that thread. I found the one on Dadsnet though.

Indith, your experience sounds a lot like ours with ds1. Is he still on dairy? Taking ds1 off cow's milk helped a lot! I let him have a little goat's cheese once things started going better. Also, regular dosing of cod liver oil. Sounds disgusting but it works. If he is constipated the pressure from the poo on his bladder can cause the wetting.

Indith · 18/02/2011 18:20

I shall probably try dairy free for a few days to see but the thing is I really don't think it is the actual constipation that is the problem iyswim. This latest lapse is typical.

Starts wetting around 50/50 but doing normal daily poo no problem on toilet.

Starts witholding wee and having big wetting incidents in the middle of the day. Goes for wees when naked on toilet morning and night while getting dressed/getting undressed. Poo ok.

Starts doing poos in pants too but still normal poos.

Starts witholding poo which leads to constipation. Except that by now we know the signs well enogh so have not let it get to constipation level as we've just stuffed some fibrogel into him and out it comes. We don't use things like lactulose, it doesn't help at all but fibrogel makes it nice and bulky so he canb't keep it in, it has to come out!

I assume there must be something that triggers him and then it spirals but I'm at a loss as to what it might be.

jabberwocky · 19/02/2011 14:43

Oh, dear, Indith, what a situation :(

If it's dairy related you won't see a difference for at least 2 to 4 weeks.

When ds1 had his bowel problems around age 4 we didn't know at first if it was just physical or if there were other issues going on. So we had him do 6 months of bimonthly sessions with a play therapist. Ultimately, it was just physical with him but I am still glad that we ruled out other causes.
