I'm ok, hullo everyone. Welcome sprouts :) a friend has a dd with GDD, it's a pretty tough journey for you.
Texted you indith. I just posted a joke via the homepage thread on MN so I must be alright, huh? Smile
My delightful dts who turned 2 mere weeks ago, have decided they are NOT having a nap and learned to climb out of their cots. I disagree so just put them both back 16 times each. Sigh. Still, I won the battle, I stood in the room and glared at them until they got bored. Next time I'll just do that to start with. Not much i can do about the mornings tho, dd gets up at 6 and plonks herself on top of me until i can't breathe. Won't do it to dp, no no no, it's go to be mummy. Argggh. Little treasures.
Ds2 who I can't believe is merely weeks away from being 4! Is a permanent PITA, guess he's picking up on my anxiety. Still, he did learn to jump last week!

ilovesprouts · 23/10/2010 14:21

my ds2 is 4 on dec 1st Grin

BlushBlush

Hello!

BlushBlush

I feel bad posting when I've been awol so long. First the writing, then the house move, and a new (different - we're onto a MAC now) computer, I sort of just gave up. Sorry....

Do think of you all, and Castles I think of you every time I drive through R Park, and confess the last few weeks the awol-ness has been pure lack of habit and shame about having gone missing!!

How are you all? How are the DC? Any more babies?

In a nutshell, I've had a turbulent year of change: new decade swiftly followed by house move, new and very busy role at dd's school (am a parent Gov now Shock seriously grown-up), and every time I sit at the computer I feel I should be writing. Actually meant to be in Venice for half-term (last attempt cancelled due to BA strikes) but have been struck down by shingles, which will teach me to run around like a headless chicken, eh?! Flat out and can't do anything really....so no excuse not to come back and say hello Smile

But I am going to be honest and say it'll be sporadic. Is that ok?

xxx It really is nice to see you Smile

MNTotoro · 24/10/2010 18:12

Hellloooo Elibean. We have missed you :)

DD1 being very grown up and staying at grandparents by herself (just for one night though). DD2 thoroughly enjouying undivided attention - all tantrums have mysteriously disappeared - cue guilt on my part for lack of attention normally.

jabberwocky · 24/10/2010 18:32

Eli, you are always welcome and yes, you have been missed :)

AQ, I was so horrible at sleep training my two I can't imagine dealing with twins.

We took the plunge and let the boys stay with grandparents last weekend. They did really well to our great surprise. The whole family is still recovering from ds1's first foray into a sleepover guest. His most, errm active friend was here Friday night. They were up most of the night and ds1 was in a frightful mood yesterday and this morning.

Elibean · 24/10/2010 19:04

Hello Jabber Smile and hello, um, Totoro Grin

Very Envy of LOs staying at GPs. How grown-up, and how lovely the GPs are grown-up enough to have them!

MNTotoro · 24/10/2010 20:01

Oops. It's me FGS/EV :) Did you think I was some weird stalker Grin

I take back everything I said about DD2 being good. She had a complete meltdown at bedtime and said she misses her big sister so much she couldnt brush teeth, have bath etc Hmm I had to lie on her bed to help her sleep :( I'm a bit worried about her really. She keeps worrying when she has been for a wee, saying I havent wiped her properly (when I know her have) and she is pretty irritable so I was thinking uti?

Also she keeps getting headaches. Quite regularly, and enough to make her cry :( She's had them about 6 months or so. The orthoptist told me her eye problems would be enough to cause them, but 3 months into wearing her specs all day and she is still getting them. I think I need to visit the GP...

jabberwocky · 25/10/2010 00:22

I think you are right to consider uti. And if the HA's haven't gotten better I would definitely recommend checking with GP. If the specs were going to help I think they would have by now.

Elibean · 25/10/2010 10:03

No, I did guess it was you EV, just haven't kept up with all the changes around here Grin

Sorry your poor dd is suffering, I would take her back to GP. Though 'you haven't wiped me properly' is the kind of thing dd2 gets sporadic bees in her bonnet about when irritable generally - I'd forgotten that weird perfectionism (aka fussiness!) that comes at this age. The headaches though, are different Sad

MNTotoro · 25/10/2010 11:10

Nice lady doctor. She doesn't think DD2 has a urine infection as she thinks it would have progressed by now and been really awful. She examined her and took a swab in case there is a mild case of thrush. She suggested we keep applying sudocrem in case the area is just inflamed and needs to heal.

With regard to her headaches, she was really good and said she didnt think it was a serious neuro thing, given that it can improve with calpol, and that although she's been having them a long time they haven't got progressively worse. She said as there is no vomiting or disorientation then that is good. She said she'd like to refer DD for allergy testing in case there is a possible food allergy which they can specifically identify, rather than us guessing and ruling lots of food out on the off chance that might be a problem. She also said it is possibly nothing to do with an allergy but it was worth trying to rule out, and that she may just grow out of them. Also suggested nurofen in addition to calpol if they are v bad.

So, a good appointment. Swab results in a week. Not sure how long referral will take.

Indith · 25/10/2010 13:14

Eli!!!!!!!!! :)

Totoro hope headaches get better, poor girl.

Dd is completely and utterly potty trained. No accidents. Ds is wetting/soiling 3 times a day or so. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Am trying to remain calm about it and just tell him to strip off and get clean pants but I just want to scream! I don't think he does it on purpose, nor is it tht he doesn't know when to go as when out or at toddler groups he just goes/tells me when he needs to.

Dd has officially hit tantrums and oh my goodness she is good at them Grin

AQ dd is also thinking about not napping. Urgh. We have the toss up between a very long day indeed which will end with meltdown half way through the afternoon or a frustrating bedtime with her refusing to go to sleep. . I may be more inclined to deal with the lack of nap if she would stop waking at night. After a brief but lovely 1/2 wakings a night she is back to every 2/3 hours.

MNTotoro · 25/10/2010 16:32

Aw potty training and nap-dropping. No fun!!

Just collected DD1. She got to bed at midnight last night Shock. Grandma thinks she was missing DD2 - they share a bedroom normally.

Lenni · 25/10/2010 21:27

Eli!!! In that case I better come out of hiding and we'll have a reunion.

Welcome sprouts, lovely to have a new member of the thread.

I'll also apologise for my sporadic posting, am being swallowed up by a huge hole that is getting everything ready for going back to work. I'm excited but also overwhelmed by how many jobs need sorting before hand. Next up, finding a cleaner. Now that is the kind of job you've got to like. Am also having a battle with a really nasty run of migraines which looking at a computer screen doesn't help with.

DS also trying his best to drop naps. I ignore him, there is not a chance of it happening this side of Christmas! As for potty training, that also is being ignored! He does sit on the toilet now and seems to want to be rid of nappies but I remember DD being the same at this age so am hoping it'll pass as I haven't the time or energy right now.

Urgh to headaches, not nice.

Will try to be back soon.

TheDailyWail · 25/10/2010 23:24

I seemed to have deserted you all again.

I've been busy doing nothing (pushes pile of washing out of view)

Hello sprouts!

I am hoping for more organisation this year and try not to fall behind for Xmas...we'll see!

Jabber - eek at bed bugs - they seem to have returned with a vengeance over the pond - I've seen many news reports. Hope you're free of it soon.

castlesintheair · 26/10/2010 11:28

Oooh, a flurry of activity ...

Hope you are ok AQ. I FB'd you but you haven't replied. Yet Grin

MNTotoro, hope DD ok? And you.

Eli, we are having our Xmas ball at Pembroke Lodge this year, coincidentally!!! Guess who has been roped into organising the bloody thing?!?! Love to see you again soon if you can fit it in between guv'nor duties. Hope shingles have improved too. Ouch.

Half-term bliss here and I have been sleeping in until 9 o'clock!

MNTotoro · 26/10/2010 15:13

Oooh, everyone is coming back :)

Castles - I'm worried about DD. She still getting very upset after weeing. I think they should have taken a urine sample yesterday :( No headache since Saturday though :)

I had a gynae appointment today about my heavy periods. He did an internal exam and suggested that as the progesterone tablets have worked my best bet is the Mirena coil. He wouldnt recommend an Endometrial Ablation because of my age.

He also said I have a cervical erosion, but as I'm not bleeding after sex or in between preiods he wasnt unduly worried about it.

I felt a bit railroaded tbh. Now I have to go back to my GP and get the Mirena fitted. I just hope it works properly

accessorizequeen · 26/10/2010 15:58

nice to see a flurry of activity after such a break, hullo Eli again!
sorry castles & jabber, I know I haven't replied. I'm behind in everything. Having breakdown but getting lots of help.

Indith · 26/10/2010 16:26

Lovely to see people :) Now you all stick around do you hear me?

Totoro sorry for dd :(. If it helps any for yourself though my sister loves her mirena so much. She has to go through all sorts of rigmarole to get it fitted now too as she has been sterilised so can't have it for family planning purposes. She has pretty bad endometriosis and although she has been operated on she still bled very badly but the Mirena sorts it out.

Good to see you AQ

Castles I am very Envy of 9am sleep-ins. Even when dh gets up with them at weekends either they have made so much noise I can't sleep, one of them has hunted me out or dh has got bored and decided to let the children climb on me in an annoying endearing manner by 8am! Can't complain too much though, although dd is waking at night still they have been sleeping til around 7.15am so fairly civilised.

MNTotoro · 26/10/2010 18:22

Hmm. Emergency appt at drs for DD2 who is now very distressed after she wees (but not during). I have to get a urine sample from her (god knows how) and then get her to take some antibiotics. :(

I am partly wondering if it is linked to the threadworm we treated the family for last week. 2nd dose is due next Monday. Although the Dr yesterday dismissed the worms as part of the problem.

I feel like I am becoming a medical expert at the moment...

castlesintheair · 26/10/2010 20:12

Sorry MNTotoro, that sound's very stressful. Maybe they missed something first time they tested or it is anxiety related? Quite common afaik. I need to get myself seen to as well as still bleeding really heavily and spend about a week feeling faint (and trying to avoid doing so). Sigh.

AQ, glad you are getting help.

Indith, 7.15am is really quite civilised. I think I am just turning into an extremely idle git Grin

jabberwocky · 27/10/2010 02:59

Oh, it's so nice to see everyone on here!

AQ, thinking of you and glad you have support.

Fingers crossed everyone - the renters have moved out and we are set to close with the buyer on Monday!

Not sure that we have conquered the bedbugs yet but I am hopeful. I still haven't gotten my closet back in order so the house is even more of a disaster than usual Blush

Elibean · 27/10/2010 15:25

This feels like yesteryear Smile

MNTotoro, poor dd and poor you - sounds upsetting Sad Fingers crossed for wee sample, good appointment, and results. I think the only way threadworms can affect weeing is if one finds its way up the urethra and causes inflammation - rare, but possible. In which case, though, I don't see why it would hurt AFTER a wee?? Oh dear, I hope antibiotics help.

Castles, you're organizing a ball? Wowowow! Hats off to you. I doubt you have much time after half term, then! But would be lovely to meet up again, you can pretend you're checking out the venue Smile

Actually, I have yet to figure out how I'm going to slow down, calm down, make more time for anything but shingles is a wake-up call: I absolutely have to. Had high blood pressure after the house move, too - back to GP on that one on Monday, ugh.

Lennied, new job? Migraines? Any connection?! Poor you, re the head, take care of it - even if it means enforcing naps for another year Wink

AQ, Indith, DailyMail...so nice to see you all again too. Will definitely make it more regular, even if its weekly regular as opposed to daily, iyswim.

I do love halfterm for space...in fact, forget being more organized for birthdays/xmas/life I just want to remember how NOT to be organized!

Indith · 28/10/2010 13:10

Jabber how on Earth do Americans justify Kraft maceroni and cheese as food? It is bright orange, very salty and kind of mushy. You lot are odd.

American friend moved back recently and she sent a parcel with some bits and bobs. I'm hoping the vile stuff was a joke!

I need to down several glasses of water now.

castlesintheair · 28/10/2010 13:39

I'll have you know Indith that our Jabber seems more English than most English I know half the time and I'm sure she doesn't partake of said Kraft maceroni gunk. Or at least not on a regular basis Grin

Jabber, good luck with the move. Fingers crossed indeed!

Eli, will give you a shout. Yes, it's likely to be a bit busy but thankfully the ball is right at the end of November so December should be more relaxing Hmm DD2's birthday is also right at end of November of course ... Is Jabber's DS2 the first 'baby' to be 4 or is it Eli's DD2? I can't remember.

Indith · 28/10/2010 18:18

The Americans here are (obviously) all living away from home, maybe they need their orange goo to cure homesickness. Perhaps they don't actually need to eat it at all when back home.

Nearly bathtime hank fudge. Ds is driving me up the wall these days, I'm starting to wish I had gone with sending him to the preschool locally instead of just getting rid of him one day a week. The other 4 days plus weekend are so very long!
