Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kayzr · 12/05/2010 16:06

Veggie it's 12.7kg which sounds an awful lot. I think of it as almost 13 bags of sugar!!!

Veggiemummy · 12/05/2010 16:06

All too vividly Beans, the walking was diff but I think that was more that my legs hurt, but I always felt like DS2 might slide out at any minute.

Katie I hope the cottages do workout for you keep us posted.

Beans33 · 12/05/2010 16:08

Phew! It's such a horrible feeling. Yuck. And I've started waddling in earnest the last few days. Nice!

Veggiemummy · 12/05/2010 16:08

Oh and beans you DH is crazy. We have moved 3 times since having kids and used 'aussie man with a van'. By the time we compared hiring our own van and petrol plus general level of difficulty it was just not worth our while.

Beans33 · 12/05/2010 16:11

I agree, but he is v stubborn and if I try to dispute it with him, he gets sticky-out jaw thing and thinks I'm crap for not trying to save us money. I think it will drive him crazy, but it's his look out and I will be away. Although he wants me to pack up the kitchen, which will be ok as can do during DD's sleeps in the pm over the 5 days before we move - slowly. Just wrapping glasses/plates etc in newspaper. not too taxing!

LadyThompson · 12/05/2010 16:23

Beans, you have got me worried now. I was only thinking today that I did more pelvic floors BEFORE I was pregnant.

SummerLightning · 12/05/2010 16:30

as well....
Beans not too uncomfortable for me, but my pelvic floor is not in great condition....

Veggiemummy · 12/05/2010 16:32

Wow kayz!!!! That's loads!!! You must look completely different, are you starting to feel like your old self?

Lady I meant to say I love Quinoa, both as the whole grain and flakes. I also love millet & amaranth. I cook a nice tomato dipping sauce for the boys that could also be used as a pasta sauce using amaranth.

Kayzr · 12/05/2010 16:36

I don't think I look different but lots of people tell me I do. I had a very very nice young man tell me I look great last week. it doesn't seem to be coming off my waist though so I must start doing something that works out my tummy.

Veggiemummy · 12/05/2010 16:43

Beans I'm so glad your going to be away for it. Is he going to clean that house as well? Packing up kitchens are quite nice it's the rest of the house I hate. Having packers was great Summer, they know how to pack, not like us, I always end up putting our entire book collection in one large box which then can't be moved.

katie3677 · 12/05/2010 17:10

Beans, perfectly normal, I felt it much more with 2nd baby as well. I had to sit down quite often as I was worried DD wuld slide out

Veggiemummy · 12/05/2010 18:32

Beans I love the photo of Whizz on FB. Her hairstyle is awesome.

Beans33 · 12/05/2010 18:49

Thanks everyone - reassuring to know I'm not the only one. Will squeeze more too!

And thanks re Whizz's hairdo! It's v sweet - such thick hair!!!

JamInMyWellies · 12/05/2010 19:37

Beans another with the falling out of my nooni here. Actually if oyu wlook on my FB profile pics there is a photo of me with bump at 40wks and it is practically at my knees.

Wow Kayz 2 stone thats quite a feat. Well done. Oh and another 5am er here have just bought blackout blinds to add to the blackout curtains to see if that helps [desperate emotion]

Katie hurrah on the steps. Good luck on the cottages.

DH out tonight so am catching up on my sky+ have shamelss and good wife to watch. Then an oprah I taped the other day.

daisydora · 12/05/2010 19:49

Evening All...

beans I can't believe your on Mat leave already, it has just come around so quick!

Re: eating DS will pretty much try/eat lots of things. But has his faves; spag bol, hotpot, anything with cheese! DD was a shockingly fussy eater, she's 4 in August and still is. She looks scrawny to me but her height and weight are perfectly fine and the girl has way too much energy.

Have to admit I felt slightly sick when DC became PM last night. Although SC has some fabulous maternity dresses. I'm just all a bit and at having NC as deputy leader when LibDems got such a pitiful result in the election. Can't wait to see where we go from here.

My cousin had a baby this morning, she was only 28 weeks! He was just over 2lb but appears to be a little fighter, lets hope & pray he is.

I'm off camping in the Lakes tomorrow for a couple of days. Can't say I'm looking forward to it much. Don't get me wrong I like camping but the thought of being stuck in a tent with DH and no TV/distraction fills me with dread. Basically for 48 hrs I get to talk about him and his mum. I know I shouldn't sound so harsh but I just can't bear it anymore! He has the same conversation with me daily. My Grandad has been told that they think he has lung cancer(possibly bowel as well). I know he is 80 and a good innings and all but, DH reaction to this was 'well at least he has got to that age, my mum was only 65 etc' He is so self centered he can only see his own feelings. I have tried to 'mention' that I feel he is a little self absorbed, and it ends in arguments. I just feel like everything is stuck and I don't know when or if he will ever move forward. I hadthought he was getting somewhere. I expect this may well be a set back.....

Sorry for that just had to vent!

LadyThompson · 12/05/2010 20:04

Aw, DaisyD, I am really really sorry about your Grandad. It may not be hopeless though, given that he has beaten cancer before, and personally I don't think 80 is that old! Mmm, I must admit your trip to the Lakes sounds a bit tricky. But I think he WILL move forward, I just think it sounds like it is going to take a long time. Even a year (say) is a short time in a bereavement and I do think it's hard on those around the bereaved, or can be...Steel yourself, lovey, take a good book and enjoy what you can. I suppose he's not keen on bereavement counselling or any of that jazz? It might give him a place to talk about it all without loading it totally on to you.

Veggiemummy · 12/05/2010 20:21

Well I feel sorry for your GD Daisy after going through all that once before and now to be faced with it again whether he beats it or (sadly) not, he has pain and hospitalization and discomfort ahead of him and that is not fair at any age. I understand you DH is still grieving but I'm sorry that is completely insensitive. He wants you to be there for him but is not only refusing to be there for you but belittling your pain. I was devastated when my nan died as much as when my dad died, she was 87 he was 45 it makes no difference to your feelings it is someone you love.

I'll put the White light out there for your new nephew. How is your cousin?

notjustanumber · 12/05/2010 20:25

Hi all,

Been on holiday and now stuck at work, absolutely knackered. Can't possibly catch up ! Congratulations MoM and I'm glad you are OK. Also, Kayz congratulations on the weight loss too, and no you are not bad to look foward to child free time. At all. I have started practice driving on my own in the evening, and even though its scary I love it because I am on my own .

But from what I remember, Trace how is Lu now ? Did the docs come up with anything ?

LadyT any news on your dad ?
Katie I had bad sinusitis when I was pregnant both time and I got a product called sinurinse, sounds disgusting but is not actually painful and worked better than the ABs. I got mine from boots, but see here. Dont bother with the sachets, a teaspoon of salt in a pint of cooled to body temp will do it, rinse morning and evening will really help shift the gunge.

WG hope you got a good recommendation for a therapist, can I also recommend mynightoff.com ? You can start a babysitting circle and we always fight for the bookings on my circle so you can get one back. This means we have been out 3 or 4 times in the last month. We are getting on better than we were but DH still majorly gets my goat at the moment. Probably not all his fault. I feel a bit tired and stressed and bleh, despite a fantastic holiday at Centreparcs

Oh and Beans yes, its all very uncomfortable at the end, I was convinced that DS2 was so low down I wouldnt need any contractions to give birth as there was almost nothing holiding him in. If only that were the case....

notjustanumber · 12/05/2010 20:27

Oh, meant to say I'm glad the haircut worked for you Veggie I went too far last time and now mine is really short and all different lengths . DH says it looks good but I think he is lying But I do think it works better than a standard haircut as long as you dont got too short !

zoejeanne · 12/05/2010 23:28

Hi, how are you all this week?

This is an old conversation that you all had ? but I?m fascinated by all the clackeroos who don?t enjoy pregnancy, yet you are the girls who are clackered already. I?m so envious of you all being pregnant as I loved every second of it (but I did have a v easy one), but know so much that another baby wouldn?t be as welcome now as it would be in a year or so. However I?m just enjoying all the pregnancy chit chat and pretending it is me!

Oooh, congratulations Mom. So exciting for you

Trace I?m so pleased you enjoyed your weekend away , and what a fabby DH you have

Katie why have you been writing about asparagus? (if you don?t mind me being nosy?) DH has grown some for the first time this year (commercially, so there's been rather a lot) and we?re just about to cut our last batch tomorrow . I have indulged so much, yummy

WG I think you?ve dealt with your DH v well (and so much more rationally than I?d do), and I hope you find a good therapist and that it works. Lots of love and luck

LadyT DD is also tiny, and although eats well (that is, isn?t picky) only has titchy portions. However when she started crawling and again when she started walking her appetite noticeably increased ? maybe your gorgeous DD will do the same and just isn?t burning that much energy at the moment?

Kayz we too are having a child free weekend, only the third night I?ve not been with DD , and the first time she?s gone away rather than me. It is my friends 30th (who is also DH?s ex, and how we met), so we?re taxi-ing rather than driving and having a damn long lie in on Sunday. And I?ve taken Monday off work so I get to see DD as well. Can?t wait!

So sorry about your Grandad Daisy, and I have my fingers for the tiny little baby

Can I gloat about my super clever baby please? This week she?s learnt to moo, baa and clip clop whenever we talk about cows/sheep/horses ? she loves to go and see the sheep in the field down the road, and has taken to standing by the fence shaking it wildly and shouting BAA BAA BAA until the sheep hear her and baa back (far more politely than she does it) So cute

PS Aubi/Avo thanks for taking time on your anniversary to answer my question about the hung parliament ? I saw it last week and it made perfect sense, and you sold the idea of a hung parliament to me as well ? lucky that! I have found all this last week?s to-ing and fro-ing very interesting and far more exciting than any other election I?ve witnessed. I hope your DH didn?t glower too much for posting? Oh, and the cupcakes are AMAZING. And I bet they tasted as good as they looked, yum yum.

EffiePerine · 13/05/2010 06:38

Zoe that is so sweet! Your DD must love growing up with lots of animals about. DS2 just has next door's chickens to woof at .

Daisy: I hope the break goes better than expected. Sorry to hear about your grandad.

Katie: are the abs kicking in yet?

Kayz and jam: we are having early mrning wakngs as well, though it's sometimes 6 rather than 5.30. The walking does seem to be tiring DS2 out, he isn't eating that much (another baby who's suddenly become ultra picky) but he is sleeping for longer!

katie3677 · 13/05/2010 09:45

Syb I know I still haven't texted you, will do so today I promise.
ZJ I do the PR for New Covent Garden Market, amongst other foodie clients so have been writing 'Field to Fork' articles for various trade magazines. Where does your DH supply to? I could use him as a case study if he supplies any fruit and veg into any of the wholesale markets!
Effie, Dr wouldn't prescribe ab's as he said they rarely work on sinusitis, so told me it was better to suffer through it. However, each day I wake up feeling progressively worse, so I'm not sure how much more I can suffer. I even contemplated keeping DS off school today and DD at home just so that I didn't have to leave the house...bad Mummy. Needless to say they have both gone off and instead of taking it easy, I am madly rushing around trying to get the house organised, work done, and things sorted for this potential cottages purchase. And then DS is having a friend over after school, stupid me.
Daisy really sorry to hear about your Grandad. Healing thoughts to both him and your cousins wee baby.
NJAN thanks for the reccomendation, if I don't feel better soon I may well be going down that route.
Lady I can't offer any advice I'm afraid as DD is a good eater, DS is another matter, except just keep doing what you're doing.
Forgotten everything else I was going to say and must..get..on..

Avocadoes · 13/05/2010 09:46

Hello

I was just re-checking posts from earlier in the week and realised I hadn't seen Nolda's post worrying that she had upset me by laughing at my thread about loobrush-gate. Nolda I hope you are still around. Of course you didn't upset me! It was meant to be a lighthearted thread. I too laughed at the stories that came out. It's lovely to have you back btw.

Zoe - I am glad my hung parliament explanation made sense. I have to say that the numbers we ended up with shocked me and also most of my predictions about what would happen were wrong! I feel like I have slid into a parallel universe over the last few days. A Con-Dem coalition. A Lib deputy PM. The Cons agreeing to a referendum on electoral reform. The Libs agreeing to cap immigration. Real momentum on an elected House of Lords. I would never have predicted any of that!

Kayz - two stone is AMAZING. Is that from running or dieting or both? Well done you.

Daisy - so sorry to hear about your grandad and to hear your DH is still not dealing well with things. You sound like a very patient wife and he is lucky to have you. I hope camping is more enjoyable than you fear.

Jam - can I ask how long the vomitting virus took to pass between members of your household? DD was I'll on Monday night and so far nobody else has shown symptoms (touchwood). Tomorrow me are going to Suffolk for the wkend with friends and I am terrified of coming down with it there (you may remember I have a phobia abt being sick).

NJAN - glad you enjoyed CentreParcs. That babysitting website looks like a great idea.

I feel a bit down today. No idea why. Maybe it's the weather, or the fear of getting DD2's bug, or the cone down after three v exciting but tiring days at work. Or alternatively it's the fact that DD1 woke me up by singing 'Bright Eyes' from Watershipdown. That song gets me everytime. She followed it with Rolf Harris' 'Two Little Boys'. Not sure why she was on such a doom fest.

Anyway whatever the cause I just want to crawl back under my duvet with my book (am on book 3 of Stieg Larsson's 'Girl With A Dragon Tatoo' trilogy. V trashy but u am completley hooked. Has anyone else red them?).

Beans33 · 13/05/2010 11:06

Hey All

Daisy - so sorry to hear about your Grandad - will keep everything crossed for you - and for your new nephew. I hope all will be well. And so sorry your DH is being a bit of a knob. I am sure it will get better - and just because someone has lived longer and had more time on the planet, doesn't mean you love them any less, so it is painful for you to be going through it too with your grandad. Big hug.

Avo - I'm feeling a bit low as well. Don't think it's because it's my last day at work. Although one chap walked past my desk this morning and said it's really sad I'm going and that he'll miss me. Luckily he kept on walking, otherwise he'd have seen me cry! Oops. I think am feeling just a bit raw. Went out for a really nice lunch with my team yesterday, which was great.

Am so looking forward to being a full time mum again, though. I can't tell you. Honestly, I have always wondered what I was going to do career-wise - hence being a seccy while I worked it out - 13 years later, here I still am! BUT motherhood is the one thing that I'm good at, so am excited to be getting back to it as my proper job again!!! Does that sound silly? Probably!

Avo - I've read all those Stieg Larssons and I loved them! In fact, I think I liked the 3rd on the best of all. Brilliant!

Nolda · 13/05/2010 11:21

Thanks Avocadoes. I hope you don't get your DD2'S bug. We had a sickness bug run through our family recently and it was about 36-48 hours between victims. I have read books 1 and 2 of the Stieg Larsson's trilogy and am waiting to get my hands on the 3rd one. They are very gripping and, as I'm half Swedish, I also enjoy vicariously all the coffee and buns they get through and like to see places I've been to mentioned.

Daisy sorry to hear about your Grandpa and I hope your holiday is more cheery than you are anticipating.

Kayz Well done on the weight loss!
