We had a lovely Christening and the chickenpox didn't bother DD1 at all although DD2 came down with it a week later but at least they've both had it now. Seems such a long time ago.
Hope everyone is ok. Are we all suffering from the terrible two tantrums? Everthing is "no" with DD1 atm. She's especially bad when she's tired which is often as she refuses to nap during the day. We've put her into a big bed now which means that she can climb out of it when she wakes up at night and straight in to mummy. I try not to let her get in to bed with us but have been spending far too many nights curled up in bed with her. I actually love sharing a bed with her cos she's so sweet - sings songs until she's asleep and often pats me on the head and kisses me - but it's going to be really difficult for her to get out of the habit.
How's the pg going, bunches? Not long now. Hope you and bump are keeping well. Hope Ds ok too with his ears.
mythumbelinas - Hope you and DDs are ok too.

Bunches - hope everything went ok with the new arrival. How's DS taken to him/her?
Seem to have frightened everyone off this thread. Please come back!
Hope everyone ok and enjoying their 2-and-a-half year olds!

Hello everyone can i join in.
I have a boy born on 3.1.04 and a 2nd boy born june this year. He is realy testing me at the moment. We have used the "naughty step" since jan this year but havent realy had to use it till the last week and now he is been a nightmare. Dose anyonr have a problem getting there little one to look at you in your eyes. I am tryingg to get him to look at me to explane why he is on naughty step and to ask him questions but he just will not look at me. He wont even look at me if i want to ask him anything even if the steep is not envolved. The only time he will look at me is if he thinks he is getting somthing out of it. When he is been good he is the best and most loving child i know or have ever seen. He gives kisses and hugs to ds2, dh and my self all the time without been asked and just comes up and tells you he loves you.
Sorry to go on, I just dont understand why he dosent like eye contact and wondered if this was normal for his age.

jaamy · 07/09/2006 22:33

Hi Baby2!
Yep, we have the no eye contact quite often. Either when DD1's done something she knows she shouldn't or simply when there's just too much interesting stuff going on around her. She sounds like a female version of your DS1 - normally very loving and huggy/kissy. I think they just get to a stage where they realise that they are their own little person and don't always have to do what mummy or daddy tells them.
BTW, I have 2 DDs - 23/1/04 and 10/10/05

BABY2 · 09/09/2006 20:56

jaamy-
thhanks- i am glad I am not the only one to have that problem, I dont know many ladys who have children to ask them, I normaly take ds2 to playgroup and do talk to mums there but with it been school hols they havent been on. I think he has been getting bored since they stopped and that may have made him play up more, maybe things will get better now as they all start again next week.

jaamy · 13/09/2006 22:50

We start back at play group or "gay poop" as DD1 calls it tomorrow....thanks goodness, though it's not been too bad as oth DDs go to nursery 2 days a week.
Yesterday I goy the "Why?" questions for the first time:
"I want to bounce on the bed with A"
"A might fall off"
Why?
"Because she's too little"
Why?
"Because she's a baby"
Why?
etc,etc... LOL!
She's really growing up in to a proper girl - too fast!
Did you work before DS2, baby2, are you going back? I work 3 days, DDs at nursery 2 days and with granny 1 day where they are completely spoiled and I spend the rest of the week trying to undo her "indulgences".

BABY2 · 14/09/2006 20:28

I have to say i am dreading the day i get the WHY? questions. I worked up till ds1. I have had him on waiting lists for 4 nurserys since i found out i was pregnent with him, i still call them all but there are still no places for him, then i fell on with ds2, he is also on the waiting lists and my old place of work still call me to see if i can go back yet. I would love to go back part time but im not holding my breath about either of them getting a place before they are old enough for school nursery. I ccarnt put them with family as mine all live about 60 miles away and dh family all work all the hours they can.

jaamy · 04/10/2006 13:13

Hi Baby2
Hope you and your little one's are doing ok.
Isn't the childcare situation terrible. After paying for our I think I have about £100 a week and I work 30 miles from home so a lot of that is spent on petrol. But if I gave up completely I don't think I'd ever be able to get back into it. And I think that both DDs (DD1 esp) get so much out of going. WHen will your DS1 be going to Nursery School? DD1 MIGHT get in at easter if they have places, other than that we'll have to wait til next sept. I really hope she gets in at easter cos she's been telling everyone that's when she's going. My fault, I told her that when it all seemed so far away and was convinced she'd get in then [naughty mummy].
Has your DS1 suddenly started talking nonsense? DD1 used to be quite eloquent (sp?) but just in the last fortnight hasn't been amking much sense or will start a sentence and then stop halfway through. I think it's just because she can't remember the word or doesn't know it...must be very frustrating for her. Am a bit worried that it's going to put her off talking altogether.
Anyway, take care.

jaampire · 07/10/2006 23:53

DD1 has announced that her favourite number is 46!??? Absolutely no idea of the significance!!
She has been soooo badly behaved over the last week or so. But then I get the odd glimpse of the cutie she used to be - I want my good little girl back!

BABY2 · 01/11/2006 21:14

hi jaamy
ds1 has never realy talked very well and he is always dribling, with taking ds2 to see hv, they have refered him to a speech theorypist (sp?) I just hope he see's one before he starts nursery at the school in january, as she told me there is a very long wainting list.
If not i will be sending him with a bag of t-shirts to change into when they all get wet around the coller. It makes him quite frustrated when he is drawing and the paper gets wet too, it can spark a tantrum, i dont know what the will make of him.
Jaampire- what a strange number to come out with!!!!

gunpowderjaamyandplot · 03/11/2006 08:51

Baby2 - you will be amazed how fast he comes on once he starts nursery (DDs have both been going since they were 6mths old). They all catch up in the end. And at leastthe HV has flagged up a potential problem before he starts school. I don't think there's anything you can do about it - my sister is a speech thereapist but that didn't stop her 4 yo having to see someone about a lisp that was developing. The dribbling probably isn't helping. Poor love, getting inthe way of his drawing - don'they just love it??
Can't believe they're nearly 3! Have booked the playroom in nursery for DD1's birthday party. It's one of those playzone/ball pool places. Just wish they made them big enough for grown ups!
HOpe you're all doing ok. Nothing but the usual bugs and things here.
Take care
