Sounds like N has the same thing as M. She has a terrible cough and is very very snotty. She ha been asleep pretty much all day, most of that time asleep on my chest. I hope you weren't planning on wearing black tomorrow. I look like I've been attacked by a whole army of snails! Hope that she feels a little better for tomorrow.

Aubergenie - Alas, I think we are now in that pre-Christmas period where no matter where you go, no matter what time it's going to be hell on earth! Even our 24 hour Tesco is busy no matter what time you go! Good luck with the swimming, I'm sure it won't be anywhere near as bad as you imagine. Once you're in the water it won't matter a jot.

StarExpat · 05/12/2009 20:23

Aubergenie - I didn't realize they only went swimming one year. That does make a difference, then. I don't envy you having to do that. myjob is right your students will be so focused on swimming and themselves.

myjob having Q totally changed my whole perspective on teaching. I used to definitely love my job and care for the children and love them...etc. but I see them in a very new very real light now. That each one of those precious kids is someone else;s baby. Someone else feels about each child the way I feel about Q. I wouldnt say the way I handle things is different because I've always been a soft, gentle cuddly teacher, but the way I SEE things is now different iyswim. Same with my own parents!

aubergenie · 05/12/2009 21:29

You're right 50ft. It's hell everywhere. You'd think I'd know better at my age. I took S into central London to meet a friend and was taken by surprise when the buses were really full.

Myjob - I hope N is a bit better by tomorrow. How frustrating when you've got a bit day planned. I hope you get a better night tonight as well.

I know what you mean Star about having a different perspective on the children. Like you, I don't think I'm different with them but I do see them differently.

I hope M is feeling better soon too!

I'm off to bed. S is horribly restless and keeps waking up. I think I'm going to be up and down all night.

50ftChristmasTree · 05/12/2009 21:32

I forgot to mention. I had a dream about three of you last night. Hmm, CSWS, Pistachio and I were camping (which is a shock in itself as CSWS & I would never go camping) in a small field. CSWS was moaning about not being able to sleep because it was too uncomfortable, Hmm was asleep and Pistachio got so fed up with CSWS moaning that she went for a run. Only she left the gate open and a huge dog got in and trashed the tent. Then M woke me up.....

I'm horrified that my sub-conscious has obviously pigeon-holed Pistachio as "the one who goes running lots".

Eeek! That's not what I meant...... I meant that as I haven't met you yet Pistachio, my brain just made you go running! I wasn't suggesting that Hmm is sleepy and CSWS is moany.

Oh dear. Sorry to hear that Pistachio. Always glad to be of service with my bizarre mind.

ronshar · 05/12/2009 22:39

Ha ha ha brilliant dream. At least it wasnt a naughty dream. Then I would be laughing really loudly.

Myjob tomorrow will be fab. I shall say something that you may not have heard for a few years but I hear it twice a week every week.
"Stand like a Gymnast, young lady". I bet you have already sat up straight with your belly pulled in

Aubergenie, you have known better. London, on a Saturday, in December! Get yourself a razor, deal with the hairy bits and go have fun. They are year fours, too busy trying to drown each other to worry about Miss in her cossy.

Star we are debating whether or not to suspend the christmas tree from the ceiling because DH is convinced he will come in and find W pretending to be the fairy when we eventually put it up. If it isnt W it will be the kitten who brings it crashing to the ground.

Pistachio, I too am of the fuzzy waving hair type. If it isnt straightened within an inch of its life it is like a bush. .This rain hasnt helped with the look either

50ftChristmasTree · 05/12/2009 22:52

Bloody hell Ronshar. Not even I, and I share far too much, would have posted if I had a naughty dream about any of you ladies!

Rising star my foot. She is driving me mental
50ft please dont take it that I meant you were to share if you did have said dream. Only so much I can handle.

Why are you all still up?
Myjob go to bed.
CSWS will be on here next and she is pregnant. But saying that she seems to be the only one with much of a social life at the moment

StarExpat · 06/12/2009 06:55

well she has to get in as much social life as possible before there are 3 under 5s in her care on a daily basis In reality, I do her busy schedule at the moment!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/12/2009 08:27

Morning ladies.

at your dream 50ft. I would be the moany one if I had to go camping!

Had a lovely evening. Dinner and lots of lovely chat with my close group of mummy friends. Would have liked not to have to get up at 6 this morning though, after not getting to bed til nearly 1.

M has woken up soooooo much better. She has actually eaten and is now rolling around on the floor saying "ooooOOOooo" and "uh oh!". She is lovely at the moment, unlike her older brother.

Yesterday he grabbed the Deep Heat from the bathroom cupboard and sprayed it & this morning he put half a roll of toilet paper down the toilet. What's going on? He is being unbelievably stupid considering it's nearly Christmas and he knows that mummy is not to be messed with. His punishment was removing the toilet paper from the blocked toilet which he hated. Cruel maybe, but what was he thinking?!

Ronshar - I am very hopeful that I won't have that sort of dream, gorgeous as you all are.

Glad you had a good evening CSWS, shame about the early wake.

50ft I agree with pistachio. It's probably just the excitement. I notice it in school as well, they are all a bit loopy and doing strange things, strange behaviours atypical of them individually and I notice it every year before a holiday. Your DS is such a sweetheart.
I would have done the same re consequence by the way. I believe in logical consequences like that rather than things like, "you're going to sit in time out since you threw your cereal on the floor while mommy cleans it up"

pepperrabbit · 06/12/2009 12:32

ooh camping - bleagh! I have a policy of only going camping if the tent has 4 solid walls and an en-suite
It's sunny here! Though weather forecast promises 3rd shite school run monday in a row. I've had enough of swimming to school in a hurricane with my glasses all wet, and various damp, screaming children.
I'm slightly overwhelmed by christmas at the moment. I may need to write a Very Big List of where everyone has to be and with what costume/food/present/ accessories on each day. Have school, nursery, childminder and pre-school to consider and a shepherd costume to make for tomorrow.
And my own christmas stuff of course....

50ftChristmasTree · 06/12/2009 14:26

Pistachio - I have got the leaflet about the NCT thingy in May. I will hopefully be a student before long but I was planning on having a chat with DH about it & going along. I guessed that you would be going and was going to mention it but wanted to see it was ok with him first. I am totally convinced that DS's behaviour is excitement. I wish I could sneak Christmas up on him but obviously that's not possible. I am not going to tell him it's nearly his birthday next year to see what happens. DS is still a baby really I suppose, I shouldn't expect too much from him.

Star - I totally agree, the punishment should fit the crime. It makes them think about the consequences of their actions so much more than a generic "go to your room" type punishment. Today he tripped M over for no reason other than he thought it would be funny. So, as punishment, I took him home from Granny's and got him to tidy the play room of all the small bits of toys so that M can use it. I thought that as he did something horrible to M, that as punishment he should do something for her. What do you think......?

Pepper - That reminds me, I've got to find brightly coloured clothes for DS to be a Christmas Cracker at his school concert. He's 6. He no longer wheres red or yellow or green trousers! He only wears jeans or cords! Last year it was a completely brown outfit for him to be a reindeer! My camping policy is the same, but I would also prefer there to be room service, a bar and spa treatments!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/12/2009 15:53

'He no longer wheres' .
