Oooh la la PSL - a weekend in Paris! Hope you had a lovely time - was there a big group of you?

LBB - I've been getting bits and pieces on Ebay for the DC's (including that Fisher Price train !!) plus tht kitchen unit for DD, but am trying to be good. DH on the other hand has just informed me he's getting O one of those Balance bikes, which are around £75 . She still hasn't ridden her scooter much ....

LMN - hope the first week back at work hasn't been too hard. I've been back a couple of months now but still struggling! Is your DD at the same nursery as DS?

We are still waiting to finalise childcare arrangements for the New Year - our CM is talking about asking us for another deposit to secure our place at her other location, in case we decide to leave after a short time - she's had to turn some of the other children away.... Not too happy about that - am meeting her tomorrow to find out what she wants....

Feel a bit because we started giving Sam wheat products a couple of weeks ago (like Cheerios, bit of toast etc) and his skin is getting worse and worse. Now on the steroid cream to control it. Then after the weekend we've got to cut wheat out again and see what happens. This is all in preparation for our appointment with the dietician, but it's not looking like he'll be able to tolerate wheat for a while longer. How are the other LO's getting on?

Am feeling a bit battered and bruised after hula hooping last night, and Sam's nocternal habits are likely to finish me off.....

littleboyblue · 04/12/2009 07:36

STW It takes Jacob about a year to get used to toys like that enough to actually try them out. They live in the corner for a year and I encourage him to use them and a year later he does! That's what happened with his rocking horse and a few ride-on things.

My cats are here. They ran under the sofa when they got here yesterday and I think they are still there!

america · 04/12/2009 11:05

I have been on sick leave for a week and with my luck, caught a cold on the first day of my leave... I have spent now three days in bed with those Twilight books (targeted for teenaged girls)and got so hooked that spent half of the nights reading... Hopefully I can get another week off, I'd really enjoyed this. I just probably overdid it a bit at the doctors as she suggested sleeping pills and happy pills and talking to a counsellor.

I have no experience of cats LBB but we do have a large dog. She is fine with kids and wasn't overly jealous when DS1 came home from the hospital (we had had it for 5Y before DS1 was born). I find that the tricky bit comes now that DS1 is older. ATM he has discovered that he CAN hit the dog or pull its fur and the dog does not snap back. I'm struggling to make him understand that he should not do it as it hurts the dog and worried that the dog will eventually snap.

Hope that the stomach bug passes quickly for all of you affected. Give a cold any day.

america · 04/12/2009 11:09

Talking of being broke... I had to call our landlord to tell that we are paying the rent late this month... First time in four years and very embarrasing. DS1 will have a mini micro scooter, which I bought ages ago and DS2 some bath toys a ride-on. DS2 is HUGE and is now wearing clothes for 12-18MO. Luckily he wasn't as big when he was born

PolkSaladLucie · 04/12/2009 11:42

Crumbs, america, that is big! M is in 6-9 MOS with plenty of breathing space, even with her big cloth bum! Hope money/job worries sort themselves out really quickly and the cold passes. I have not read the Twilight books, but when I was signed off for a week when pregnant, I read all the Harry Potters books!!! Bliss!

lbb - are the cats a Christmas present, or just an extra thing? What ages did you go for in the end?

STW there were about 25/28 people there, and I knew three of them, including J. He has always known how much I struggle, but don't think he realised how much until I basically looked myself in the loo for 45 minutes. Rest of the weekend was nice, though, apart from a pre-departure trip to A&E because his foot heart - he might have gout.

We are still looking at what to get M for Christmas - think it will be a little wooden something and then something nice to keep (another Folio edition, probably) and then money in her CTF. She's getting so much stuff from other's, and I've told them if it's something big, it will be staying at their house, not mine!!! I am getting J a years subscriptoin to an XBOX 360 mag, and I need a new coat, so was going to ask for an aubergine velvet coat from Boden so I can wear it to the wedding in a few weeks, but he has already bought me something. He also bought me a 'snuggle blanket' (a fleece blanket with sleeves and a pocket) which he gave me the other day as I was cold! which is quite heavevly when accomponied by a cup of tea, a choccy biccy and the remote!

M took another couple of steps yesterday - at what point does it stop being steps and start being walking!!!

Hope everyone is good!

littleboyblue · 04/12/2009 17:14

PSL I want to get my mum one of those snuggle blankets. She has always got her dressing gown drapped over her when she's watching tv or just reading her book.
Re cats, they are 4 months old, and now they are here, I think that was the best thing for us. I haven't seen them much as they are in hiding at the mo, but hopefully will come out soon.

With ds1, I classed it as walking when he took 3 steps or more.
Luke is getting closer to crawling but he really just wants to stand.
His 2nd tooth is coming through now.

SpottyXmasStockings · 04/12/2009 19:44

Have only read a couple of pages but hope you are ok KBN

PSL - FB must be going weird for us as I can't find your Paris update although my phone says you 'commented'?? hope you had a great time though. I heart Paris! Xmas Ideas for M sound good - I have just wrapped up some of Harry's old things for Sam When I say 'old' I mean one of 100 prezzies bought yet hardly played with.

america I have just read the Twilight saga in 2 weeks - V addictive!

Hope the kittens managed to come out from under the sofa LBB - I wanted to get the boys one for Xmas but have been overruled by DH so they are getting a fish tank with a goldfish each instead

Hope you have a fab break MOS

Dinky xxx

SpottyXmasStockings · 04/12/2009 19:46

Am just trying out the laptop I bought for DH's prezzie!!!!

See you after the 25th then (or before if DH has an evning out and I can sneak it down from it's hiding place )

littleboyblue · 05/12/2009 01:25

spotty nope. cats are now under the bed. They must be drinking something because 1 of them has pee'd on my bed!
dinky hope Danny's ok.

BloodRedTulips · 05/12/2009 21:13

just dashing on quickly before the chinese gets here.

mad day today, christmas fayre in my parents village so brought the kids to see Santy and ds1 gave up his beloved dummy seems to have gone to sleep happily as well so fingers crossed!

A walked tonight for the first time, he can only do 3/4 steps at a time but he's definitely got it, good god.... i have a toddler again!

just got my OU assignment back and am dead chuffed with the result so am feeling a bit giddy and hyper

lbb hope the kittens come out soon to do more than pee on your furnishings... nothing worse than cat pee on the bed, one of mine is a bastard for peeing on our bed if he decides at 5am that he wants to go out and i don't wake up to him calling, apparently he's too good for the litter tray

littleboyblue · 06/12/2009 07:58

BLT Well done on your assignment.
One of the little sods has already pee'd on the bed and OMG does it stink!!!!!!!!
I called the previous owner yesterday and he said their favourite room was always the bathroom. That's where they had their food bowls too, so I shut them both in there yesterday and took boys in there every half hour to spend a bit of time with them. I left the door open when boys went to bed. 1 came out and sat with me, the other went and hid. I've let them out this mornming and they are hiding again.

littleboyblue · 06/12/2009 11:06

Jacob's cracked usin g the toilet. Wee's and poo's. Yay.

BloodRedTulips · 06/12/2009 12:48

excellant Lbb! gosh he's young to have cracked it, bet your proud

ds1 is finally dry day and night too so after almost 5 years i finally have my first child completly out of nappies....doesn't seem to have encouraged dd any though , at this rate A will be dry before her!

how old are the kittens? we got one at 10 weeks who was very nervous for the first few days, i really thought she'd have to go to another home as she was so scared but she settled in fantastically and became a right pet... sadly she escaped out at night last month though and was chased by a dog onto the road, i was heartbroken

littleboyblue · 06/12/2009 13:05

BRT That's so sad about your cat. These are house cats. They are 4 months old. One likes lots of hugs and stuff, the other doesn't want to know at all.
They are living in the bathroom as that's where they spent most of their time before.
I think they'll be ok as they are both letting Jacob touch them and 1 is coming out to him so once they get used to the noise, they'll be fine.

I'm not even thinking about getting Jacob dry through the night yet!! He went on the toilet for the first time on friday and managed a poo on it this morning. So far I have been giving him the choice of toilet or potty, but at some point today, I'm going to take the potty away and that's that

dinkystinky · 06/12/2009 18:35

Go Jacob! Am impressed LBB - he's doing brilliantly. DS1 is dry during the days but not during the nights - rather suspect he's going to be like BRT's DD and refusing to be dry at nights for a long long time.... Well done to your DS1 for cracking it too BRT - I remember well our potty training commiserations over the spring/summer

LittleSez - sorry you're having a shocker. Sounds like work are being useless. Glad your lovely little lady is keeping the smile on your face though.

Spotty - twas mulled wine fueled snog, not eggnog (bleurgh). Look forward to seeing you back on post xmas

I now have 2 ill boys - Danny has had a bad cold/virus for the past 4 days or so with racking cough, raging temperature and snotty nose, that has been playing merry hell with his - and my - sleep. And now DS1's cold has turned into an evil lurgy too. DS1 in bed since 5.30 today (not having eaten since going to see the Snowman at 11 today) and Danny in bed since 6 - its going to be a looooong night. And I found out yesterday that my uncle (who was married to the aunt that died suddenly earlier this year) died yesterday morning (he'd had a fall and caused haemorraging in his brain and passed away quite suddenly in hospital) - I am so in shock at it and just feel so desperately sad for my cousin who has lost both parents in the space of 6 months. Cant even begin to imagine how he is feeling right now

On a brighter note we took the boys to see Santa at Westfield yesterday - it was an infinitely better experience than the Selfridges debacle (got my photo within 30 seconds hurrah) and both loved it (and the Santa was brilliant too - DS1 was chatting away to him so happily, it was lovely to see) and they got given tiny little reindeer toys to keep - definitely recommend it for any north/west london mums....

right off to go neck some red wine before the night shift of dosing children with meds starts...

dinkystinky · 06/12/2009 18:37

BRT - at A walking already. He is a determined little fellow isnt he. And well done on your OU assignment - hope you get a chance to celebrate. Here's some virtual mulled wine and mince pies headed in your direction...

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 06/12/2009 18:42

P.s. twirls in her new christmassy guise - like it?

littleboyblue · 06/12/2009 21:26

dinky I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. Hopefully the suddeness of it meant he did not suffer.
Your poor cousin. Must just be awful.

Hope the boys get better soon. Luke has some sort of cold. He is very blocked up and I ended up having to feed him in the night to get him back to sleep. Haven't had to do that in ages!
