OMG, can't believe the birthdays have started!
Happy birthday to L for Wednesday.

SM your neighbours sound like the arses next door to us. They kept us up late last weekend so the next morning I was up very early with H and did a lot of slamming of doors

LMN, poor E, hope all better soon

spotty hope all ok

for activities we do a lot of playing with muscial instruments as H is forever finding his way into my sign language props box and emptying out all the shakers etc. (normally chews them rather than shake them)
he likes playing with building blocks and walking behind his push along toy.
Last weekend he took 6 steps on his own

space explorers sounds fun, might have to try that one

SilveryMoon · 19/01/2010 08:50

Morning.
Another bad night here. Jcob was fine, Luke was not.
I also kept waking with really bd sweats. I now have a pain in my side/back again and am still feeling really tired so think I must still have that kidney infection.
I'm also bleeding again which makes it 1 week off, 1 week on!
Plan today is to get everyone dressed, go doctors and then we're meeting friends for lunch. Jacob has already told me today he needs to see his girls

Oooggs happy birthday to Luke for tomorrow.

dinkystinky · 19/01/2010 08:55

Oh no SilveryMoon - hope you get sorted out at the docs soon, and that your boys get better really quickly. Do you think Luke is maybe teething?

MoS - go H with the walking! Space explorers is great fun - especially if we combine it with the bubble machine blowing bubbles at the boys...

Danny slept the best he's slept for months last night - waking at 11 but putting self back to sleep then up at 4.30 for a feed and up for the day just before 6. If only he'd stay that way I'd be happy and slightly more well rested...

SilveryMoon · 19/01/2010 09:24

dinky Yes, think Luke is a mix of teething, whatever stomach bug is doing the rounds and a stinking little cold
I'm doing all I can for him, he has teething gel, a bit of calpol if he's really bad and as many hugs as I can manage.

We cut their hair again the other day. They are mirror images of each other. Even now they are watching show me show me (in my pants lol) and are leaning on the table next to each other, both with their left ankle crossed over the right.........hehehehe cute

SilveryMoon · 19/01/2010 15:47

I wouldn't mind Luke being up all night if he slept in the day! Can't take this 24/7 shit much longer!!
He seems to have quietened down now. Gonna try and grab half hour before Jacob wakes up. Wish me luck

dinkystinky · 19/01/2010 16:37

Good luck SilveryMoon. If it is teething, try the Nelson powders and anbesol teething ointment - may help dull the pain enough to get Luke to sleep at some point. Poor you - and poor him.

SilveryMoon · 19/01/2010 16:51

thanks
8dinky* I managed just over 20 mins!!!!!!! I'll have to give something else a go. I normally use dentinox teething gel but can't get any anywhere. Will try powders tomorrow.

He won't even be put down

dinkystinky · 19/01/2010 21:39

Oh poor Luke. Do you have a sling/baby carrier you can stick him in to free your hands up? To be honest, I find nurofen is best at getting the teething pain sorted (reduces inflammation) but if he's got a dodgy tummy I'd stay stick with calpol.

Latest from the saga of Danny the Destroyer causing havoc in the kitchen - today he has taken to opening our food cupboard, selecting items from inside the cupboard, crawling over to our bin (one of those tall chrome ones with a push flap to put rubbish through), pulling up to standing and putting food from the cupboard into the bin Our nanny found him doing this after he'd disposed of several stock gel packets. Not sure if he's being a gourmet baby and objecting to our use of ready made stock gels or just trying to figure out how best to cause further chaos. Turned the bin round so the flap faces the wall in an effort to hamper his efforts tomorrow - only to hamper DH in his efforts to put stuff in the bin while getting dinner ready

dinkystinky · 19/01/2010 21:39

Oooggs - happy birthday for lovely Luke's birthday tomorrow. Hope those nasty teeth are through today in time for a grizzle free birthday tomorrow.

LittleMissNorty · 19/01/2010 21:51

Awwww SM. Teething is a bloody nightmare. I resort to drugs as well (for him not me!)

When DD was this age, you could use Medised!

Happy birthday to DS Oooggs.....doesn't time fly?!

SilveryMoon · 20/01/2010 07:34

dinky are you kidding? Sling/carrier? Luke is HUGE and HEAVY, no way would I be able to put him in one of those I sold mine at the car boot anyway, I don't like them really.
I think he had a better night (I didn't get up anyway) so shall see how today goes.
@ Danny putting things in the bin. I once found £30 in my bin!!!!
LMN I used medised for ds1 too, great stuff, especially when everyone is at breaking point.
Oooggs Happy 1st birthday to Luke. Hope you all have a lovely day

dinkystinky · 20/01/2010 08:54

SilveryMoon - Danny is a chunky monkey (in 4+ nappies and 12-18 month clothes)but I use my Beco carrier with Danny loads when he's in a dont put me down mood - and my back and shoulders are fine as the carrier distributes the weight evenly and he's happy as he's cuddled up next to me. Though if you dont get on with slings/carriers fair enough that you dont want to use one Fortunately the dont put me down days are fairly rare nowadays. Another crappy night with Danny last night - awake for 3 hours in the middle of the night and threw up half way through his 3 hour awake/crying jag. Seriously starting to reconsider going for no 3 at some point Hope you and Luke had a better night. What did the GP say about your ailments?

SilveryMoon · 20/01/2010 09:21

dinky Sorry danny's still not too great. You never know, the powers that be might decide after this you deserve te worlds best baby
I'd love a third, but dp says no.
I'm 100% sure Jacob wasn't as bad as Luke is with teething, getting dressed, general stuff really.
I suppose if I had a better carrier it'd be ok, but I get too flustered wearing them.
Luke's ok at mo, so fingers crossed.
Re docs, I have to have another scan in a few weeks to look at my spleen as it was enlarged when I was at the hospital the other week.
I have to go for a smear next week because I have been having lots of bleeds so they also want to check for STI's .
I'm back on AB's for kidney infection and she said if pains continue or get worse they'll have to put me back in hospital. I have to go for a fasting blood test at some point in the next 2 weeks to check everything else too. Think that's about it.

SnowTulips · 20/01/2010 10:22

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE

can't believe the birthdays are here already

SM, hope they sort out your health issues soon, sounds miserable.

dinky at Danny's exploits.... A's only interest is the stairs, as soon as he's put down he's heading towards it and can get all the way to the top single handedly... really must buy a stairgate

SilveryMoon · 20/01/2010 10:29

Thanks ST
My Luke is the same as ds1 was at this age. It's all about having a splash in the toilet and playing with the toilet brush thing (one of those duck disposable thingys)

oooggs · 20/01/2010 11:19

OH MY GOODNESS - yes Luke is 1 today

ds1 at school, dts at nursery so dh and I off to the pub for lunch start him early

thank you for the birthday wishes

sorry about those poorly boys and the teething - I can surely join that club

SnowTulips · 20/01/2010 18:22

A's tripp trapp arrived he had his first meal at the big table with everyone else tonight and loved it.

the little bugger had figured out how to climb out of the old highchair (one of those wooden ones that turns into a table and chair) When the older two figured out how to climb out we just turned it into a small table and chair for them and they ate there but a) A's not nearly big enough for that yet, he's tiny compared to the other two at this age and they were months older when they climbed out of the highchair and b) we don't have the space anymore for a seperate table and chair in the dining room.

it's lovely having him sat at the table with us though, and he obviously enjoys it far better than being a few feet away in the highchair.

rosieposey · 20/01/2010 18:39

Happy Birthday Luke, ahhh its gone so quickly and i cant believe its here already.

DH is very poorly with man flu, hes coughing and spluttering all over the place so i am having to look after two babies at the moment.

Snow Tulips thats nice that you got one of those Tripp Trapp highchairs, let me know how you get on with it because we are having a bit of a nightmare with Milo at the moment and highchairs. He basically screams when we put him in his and wont be fed in there. He is also a little houdini and can almost climb out of it which makes me really paranoid. Im ashamed to say that weve got into a habit the last few days of feeding him on the run as he is getting around as we dont want him to go without. He really is adamant that wont go in it (its a chicco polly one) so i dont know what to do really.

We bought one of those Ikea at-the-table highchairs for a tenner to see if he would enjoy that but nope, he hates being restrained in any way shape or form

Silverymoon, i can sympathise with you not being able to put Luke down bless him - Milo is a bit like that at the moment and doesnt even have teeth or illness as an excuse

Dinky sorry to hear that sleep is still a little thin on the ground, you will probably be all up for no 3 a year or so from now when things settle down, its very hard to manage without much sleep, DD3 was bloody awful so i do feel for you.

Well we had a good dousing of snow today again, gosh i love the stuff usually but even im getting a bit fed up of it, its warmer than it has been though so its melted really quickly.

SnowTulips · 20/01/2010 18:46

rosie, A is pretty objectionable about being restrained too but the way he sits on the tripp trapp seems to fool him into thinking he's not enclosed. It looks odd when you first set it up but once you see the baby in it it looks so much more comfortable, he's sitting in a really natural position with his feet flat on the foot board and only his bum on the seat, as opposed to feet straight out in front of him like in the old high chair. With the old chair he was screaming within minutes but he's spent ages in the tripp trapp today playing at the table and having his dinner and didn't whinge once

oooggs · 20/01/2010 21:09

I have used Tripp Trapps with all of mine and had to sell one last week as couldn't justify a 3rd one and Luke needed to be in it at the table.

So to cheer myself up I spent the money on a new pushchair . Only ever had one pushchair for ds1 (jane powertrack) the a double for the dts (out n about nipper) then ds3 when in to the powertrack (oh had a triple for 6 mths!!) so wanted something small that reclined and was a chuck in the boot one for the school run.

Have bought a Petite Star Zia in Teal and it ticks all my boxes for the school runs and holidays but still like the comfort of the off road tyres that the other pushchairs offer for everything else

rosie - hope dh better soon - sick men = hard work

snowtulips - glad the tripp trapp is a success

SilveryMoon · 21/01/2010 09:49

Morning.
Nothing to share, just wanted to say HI

dinkystinky · 21/01/2010 09:54

Snow - glad A is enjoying his tripp trapp. We have one for DS1 which he still loves using and one for Danny too - which he enjoys using while he's eating and enjoys pushing back from the table in (and putting his feet up on the table - shocking table manners ) when he's done. I think they're great inventions and worth every penny!

Another shocking night with Danny - he is properly ill now with a temperature and viral rash so with any luck he'll be better in a few days and we can work on getting him to go to sleep at nights again...

Went to an art exhibition opening at the Whitechapel gallery last night that my sister (who is an assistant curator) helped put together - was an amazing photographic exhibition spanning india, bangladesh and pakistan over 150 years but god did I feel old around all those bright young things in the art world.

mumoverseas · 22/01/2010 05:59

hello all, hope poor little teething babies are a bit better. H's first tooth well and truly through now (he didn't suffer too much on that one) but the second one is coming and is causing him a lot of pain. we can see a tiny spot of blood on his gum but he won't let us near it.

dinky hope you've managed to get a bit more sleep last night. Hope Danny gets better very soon. Exhibition sounds good. Our houseboy is from Bangladesh and is back there now for 3 months with his wife and daughter. I've often thought about asking about his home but never have as I'd probably feel very guilty.

SM poor you with your bleeding and aches and pains. Hope scan goes ok next week and L & J give you a bit of rest.

spotty hope you are ok

All those with escaping babies from highchairs, you are not alone. H is constantly climbing out and it is really scary. I'm really paranoid now since poor Milo's accident a few months ago. Assume all ok with him now rosie? Was a big scare for all of us.
I had a brainwave/mean idea yesterday at dinner time. H was wearing dungarees with loops around the waist so I put the strap of the highchair through the loops. Little bugger didn't escape but was not a happy man

I got an email from DS's school yesterday, they are fundraising today for Haiti. Usual cake stalls etc and being far away I feel guilty I miss out. There were loads of different events going on but the grand finale was 12 students/teachers/parents had the opportunity to abseil down the tower of the chapel. You had to email bids to secure a place. Well I got the email around 4pm and cut off was 6pm. Sent a one liner to DS to see if interested and then realised he probably wouldn't get it until after the deadline. By that time 9 of the 12 places had gone.
Me being me (hasty!) I went ahead and bid for him to do it and then got an confirmationn that my bid had been successful so forwarded it to DS for his information
To say he was somewhat shocked was an understatement. He couldn't believe I hadn't asked him first but I pointed out time was of the essence! Thankfully, he is really up for it and I pointed out how good it will look on his cv/uni applications that he did a charity parachute jump last year and the abseiling this year.
he is doing it today at 2.15pm and just wish I was there to see him but thankfully a friend from on MN who I've met a few times in Brighton will be there and cheer him on as her DC go to the same school.

I must learn to not jump in and think things through

Hope everyone doing ok and you all have a lovely weekend x

littlesez · 22/01/2010 06:22
