TAT Thanks for bumping my thankyou message. My SecretSanta replied on Norma's thread, and said something is being sent for the boys too but mine got here first! How crazy (ice crazy) is that?! I got a lovely prezzie and my boys are getting something too. It is so nice.
mos what you said about telling your dc they would have 1 present less so someone less well-off would have something was lovely.
I am so grateful to whoever nominated me and to whoever sent to us, but at the same time I do feel a bit bad because there are definitely people out there that are far worse off than us iyswim.......I hope that doesn't sound awful or ungrateful.
I know it was one of you guys that nominated us because I don't talk to anyone else on here

I've had a really horrible day today. Jacob has been a little sod and has been constantly pushing and hitting. We were at a birthday party and at one point, I turned round and saw him swing a toy around and hit a girl in the centre of her forehead!!!!!! Blood everywhere and a trip to the hospital. She is ok, thankfully. Everyone was ok about it (it was just us and 2 good friends and their dc's there) so we stayed while the girls mum took her to hospital, but Jacob carried on being a shit-bag, so I bought him home. Have had a good cry, done all the asking myself what I'm doing wrong etc etc, and am feeling better.

TulipsAndTinsel · 16/12/2009 18:33

aww bless lbb, what a rotten day!

don't beat yourself up... kids at that age are vicious little buggers, all you can do is tell them off, apologise to the injured party and hope they grow out of it before they kill someone [optimist me]

SpottyXmasStockings · 16/12/2009 20:24

Aww LBB, 2 yr olds are rat bags aren't they! Hope you are managing to chill out this evening and enjoy your champagne! Lovely gift and you deserve it

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 16/12/2009 21:04

Dont beat yourself up about it LBB - these things happen.... and tomorrow is another day. Hope you're feeling abit better about life now.

SpottyXmasStockings · 16/12/2009 22:25

Hey there drinks, how is Danny? Back in sorts and you getting more sleep I hope?

mumoverseas · 17/12/2009 03:34

oh LBB, what an awful day you had. You have to know that you have/are doing NOTHING wrong, it is just one of those phases he is going through. They all do it. When DS1 was around 5 and DD1 around 2 he threw a toy dressing up shoe at her and it hit her just under the eyebrow. Blood everywhere, trip to A & E and stitches. He was a little shit then but is now a lovely 16 year old, working hard for his A levels and was made a prefect last week at his (posh) school

I hope you managed to cheer yourself up

Hope everyone else is doing ok.
DH got a babysitter last night for 4 hours and it was bliss. We went to the local mall, had a nice meal in peace, managed to talk without constant interruption and finished our shopping. Had some great entertainment too. A group of 'local' teenagers started a fight with the security guards at the mall and I've never seen anything as funny. I've seen girls fight better than that. The craziest thing was all the bystanders just followed them and it carried on through the mall and out into the car park. DH saw a fight once after a car crash and the two Saudis were hitting each other with their 'fanbelts' (what we call the ropes that tie their gutras (tea towels) on their heads) silly arses but great comedy factor.

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 17/12/2009 09:58

Hey spotty - sadly Danny is still in teething hell. Awake at 11.30 then again between 2 and 4.30 this morning and up for the day at six. yawn. Am hoping Santa brings him a full set of dentures for christmas to put us all out our misery Hope all good with you lady and your little and not so little menfolk.

MOS - that fight sounds so funny...

littleboyblue · 17/12/2009 11:20

Thanks everyone. I went out last night and had a couple of bottles of wie and after a lay in this morning, I am feeling loads better. Although dp is now very stressed as he's had to look after the boys.
I've just put the tree up, it looks nice and now I'm wrapping up some empty boxes to go under there (just so it doesn't matter if the boys start unwrapping) and I have their gifts in the top of my closet.
OMG......while I'm typing this out, Luke has just pulled himself to standing!!!! What a clever little boy.
mos lol at your free entertainment last night. Glad you got out and had a nice evening.

mumoverseas · 17/12/2009 11:33

LBB hope it was WINE and not WIE you had last night
glad you've got your tree up. Adds to the excitement. yay at Luke for standing up

dinky we are having the teething nightmare too. H is up everynight around 3am and is clearly struggling but won't take calpol. He just has a hissy fit everytime we try to give him some Not even one tiny tooth. Maybe for Christmas?

I still chuckle about the girly fight last night. I'm just a bit disappointed that I couldn't understand what they were shouting about, bet it was interesting.

More entertaintment this morning on 'my' thread. Daftpunk called me a 'twit'!!!!! Pots and kettles and all that!

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 17/12/2009 11:41

MoS - Danny hates calpol but loves calprofen and nurofen infants which I think helps take the inflamation down - may be worth trying with H if you have it over there? I can see about 4 of the buggers positioned just under his gums so hoping they'll cut through soon.

LBB - go Luke

mumoverseas · 17/12/2009 11:47

Hi dinky, don't get any of that out here, have to bring out the nurofen but will try the ones you suggest when home in 10 days

P.S. was there any more talk of a post christmas meet/piss up?

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 17/12/2009 12:42

Sorry - been abit distracted with lots of work (currently shirking but best get back to it) and xmas stuff but yes, post xmas meet up - early Jan - so far up for it are me, MOS (if its while she's here), KBN, LBB, STW. Anyone else? LMN? PSL? Swampster? Have been in touch with Nkweto and she's tentatively up for it too.Go on, you know you want to....

Proposal is an evening meet, for drink and curry/meal, without kids but with alcohol...

littleboyblue · 17/12/2009 12:57

mos/twit maybe I'm still a little drunk

Yep, I'm def up for a meet-up. Lots of booze and no kids sounds like heaven!

mumoverseas · 17/12/2009 13:01

LBB am devestated that a long-standing 'virtual' friend is now calling me names

Re meet up, we fly back 8th January with EMIRATES! A real airline that don't let you down

littleboyblue · 17/12/2009 13:13

mos she really is something else that daftpunk. We don't think your a twit at all. I'm going back onto your thread to have another giggle!

mumoverseas · 17/12/2009 13:16

she is a loon. Now I am being questioned about whether I vote labour and how long DD has been at boarding school. How is that relevant?
Go on, go and wind her up

littleboyblue · 17/12/2009 13:24

Lol. I've just seen. Nut-case isn't she. I did think about posting something, I'll have a proper read later when the boys are in bed and dp is at work. x

TulipsAndTinsel · 17/12/2009 14:26

daftpunk is Mn's resident Daily Mail reader so the boarding school question is hardly surprising from her

ds1 and A visited reindeer this morning (or rein - dee - ators as ds1 calls them) was really lovely, although i think ds1 might have been expecting something else as after spending half an hour feeding them he said to me in a sad voice 'but mommy, i didn't see the rein-dee-ators' i had to explain that the deer in front of him were the reindeer but i still have no idea what he thought we were going to see!

littleboyblue · 17/12/2009 17:07

In today's post, I got a £25 ELC gift voucher from my MN secret santa.
How nice is that?
I was in there the other day and saw a few bits I think the boys would like.

mumoverseas · 18/12/2009 03:02

I have to say it LLB but its nice happy posts like yours that are really cheering me up. I've had a shit few days and your post the other day about your wine & chocs put the first smile on my face for days.
I love reading the 'thank you' thread every year. Just hope NSF finished everything in time so everyone gets their little pressies before Christmas.
What are you going to buy the boys LBB?

I can't wait to get back to the UK and look in a proper ELC. We have them here but they are tiny and very limited (and overpriced!)Hardly got anything for H, just a few little bits due to lack of choice but got DD their lovely Rosebud cottage dolls house.

Went to bed with a migraine last night that has been coming of for days then wake up to find the bloody strike is off. AFTER we've paid almost £1,500 for Emirates flights. We saw the travel agents yesterday who had confirmed they would change our existing BA tickets to a later date so we wouldn't lose all our money but no doubt that is out the window now.

PT/TAT reindeer farm sounds lovely. Would really like to do something like that in a few years for DD and DS. Hve to wonder what your DS thought he was going to see

littleboyblue · 18/12/2009 08:03

mos It's just so nice to know there are still people out there that will help out those that are less fortunate. Kind if does a bit to restore your faith in humanity doesn't it?
I've just donated most of the baby-baby toys to the childrens centre, with instruction that they are to be offered to families with babies (I have a few in mind) and if not wanted either the centre keeps them for baby play sessions or they are donated to a womans refuge or somewhere. It's the mst I can do, but it's something osn't it.

Re what I'm going to get for the boys, I saw a wooden post box in ELC the other day with some wooden letters that you post. Age range is 1-3 years and I think it's something they'll enjoy doing together.
Or like I said on the thank you thread, we quite enjoy putting some music on and bashing tamborines, saucepans, wodden spoons, bells etc so I might get some new toddler cd's and some instruments and we can have a very noisey new year. lol

Can't believe all this about BA you must be screaming. I'd be absolutely livid, the bastards.
At least you know you'll get home for the dc's though.

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 18/12/2009 09:55

MOS - they're talking about striking again in January so chances are your return BA flights would have been/might be affected anyway.

LBB - how sweet of your secret santa, We've got Danny the wooden post box for xmas (DH bought it) to go with the ball we've got him - its a very sweet gift and am sure your boys will both love it.

mumoverseas · 18/12/2009 10:06

wooden post box sounds nice. I've not seen that one as we have such a limited range out here. I was looking for one of those wheelybug things you were all raving about and can't find one out here.
On the plus side, BA are arses when it comes to baggage, just ONE bag each now, regardless of how tiny/light it is.
So, we have said 'stuff it up your arse' to them and are flying back with Emirates who have a much larger baggage allowance so much more retail therapy for me when I'm back

dinky we aren't using the BA flights. DH may still try to change them for a later date but definitely won't rely on them this time. The trust has gone

LBB musical instruments whilst nice are rather annoying at times. I use them during my sing and sign classes and it drives me insane sometimes

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 18/12/2009 10:57

So - we had a dusting of snow last night and our useless council didnt grit the roads so fell over and bumped my coccyx this morning on my way to work - had to be hoisted to my feet by a passing pedestrian

Also due to icy conditions DS1's preschool is closed. He is gutted as it was meant to be their christmas party today - poor love.

Why does London grind to a halt at the slightest hint of snow and ice???

mumoverseas · 18/12/2009 12:13

oh dinky poor you and DS. I think a lot of schools closed today and kids disappointed about parties.
I got a call from ex DH this morning. He had been phoned by DD at 7am telling him to pick her up as her school was closed. Lucky he was in the area today!
