Oooh we have loads of words here, quite a few 2 word sentances coming along, such as naming things ie mummy's juice, daddys cup etc etc, bye bye daddy, daddy working, telly please and (very proud of this one)she says "yes please" if you ask her if she would like something, and "thank you mummy/daddy" when you give it her

Ah, if only DD1 was so polite....

BaconWheatCrunchies · 04/01/2010 20:10

Our cute phrase the other day was when he insisted on having some of my tea, then looked v surprised 'ot juice!'

HM we still have biting, but I usually manage to stop him and shout'No biting', but he did get his big brother other day, so naughty step for him.

Re the tantrums, DS2 has been stamping his feet in frustration since he was 10mnths old, DS1 thankfully has never really done the full on terrible twos, so I think DS2 is going to amke up for it.

Off to have my dinner, if DH has managed to boil me some pasta

shonnomanom · 04/01/2010 22:14

lm dd lets me know when she isdoing something she knows she shouldnt by saying 'no no no no' repeatidly(sp?) to get my attention

fuzzy love the fact the yours asks for the telly on, dd doesnt ask, she just hits every button on the remote until one of them switches on the tv then hands it to me, no matter where I am, example in the shower.

Lucky2010 · 05/01/2010 07:07

Happy Tuesday everyone! (marking for later).

harimosmummy · 05/01/2010 16:37

Sho - that is so funny... Haribo wags his finger at me if I won't let him do something he wishes to do. I swear I had no clue that I wagged my finger at him when I told him off - but I do!!!!

I'm not really sure how many words we have here... I mean... what counts as a word? Words that other people could understand? probably about 4 Words that I understand? Probably about 50.. Infact, there isn't much now that he can't communicate effectively... So not sure how that works to be honest!!!

Well, I am prepared for snow!!! I went shopping today and could happily not leave the house for the next week!!! I even bought Haribo some new toys and a new DVD... But (unlike what seems like every other part of the country) we have NO snow!!!

If the forecasts are right, I'm not really sure what will happen about DH getting home at the weekend... we will have to see!!!

Well, best get on!

HM x

Lucky2010 · 05/01/2010 17:34

HM that is a very good point about words...I love the fact that we have this secret language with our children at this age...like if I said to you that Curly says 'Be-bee-yeah!' would any of you actually know that she was saying 'Mr Men'???!!!!Probably not... LOL!! (It's very consistent though!)

When my parents were here at Christmas she kept saying 'dood-derl' (Good Girl!) and my Mum kept saying 'Yes Curly! Get Down!!' and I was having to say "erm, no Mum, that's 'good girl'"!!

So maybe she doesn't have that many words afterall....LOL!!!

LM xxx

Just planned a week at superbros at Easter .

Lucky2010 · 05/01/2010 17:34

No snow here wither yet but due tonight and tomorrow heavy (Herts).

Lucky2010 · 05/01/2010 17:34

harimosmummy · 05/01/2010 17:43

Yes, Lucky, I'm expecting it tonight / tomorrow - but I'm not so far away from you!!!

Also, wanted to say - thanks for that book (the entertaining one). I've found it very, very useful!!!

HM x

Lucky2010 · 06/01/2010 19:46

No problem HM.

Glad you all enjoyed the snow.

shonnomanom · 06/01/2010 22:45

Happy snow days ladies!
We'v not had anymore here since the other day, but by eck its cold outside!

I spoke to my friend today. She said her niece's daughter is back in the hospital again. Fortunately the tumour is benine. But its producing more fluid in the brain than the shunt can shift. So they are going to have to do surgery where they will remove part of her skull in order to get to the tumour. But because of her age(6m)/size she can only get anesthetic(sp?) every 3 weeks so its going to take a while. The good news is that when the fluid is reduced she has full mobility unlike when she is swollen. I saw some before & after photos today and its heartbreaking to see her.

On a lighter note, we are on day 6 of 2010 and already I have heard 2 pregnancy announcements! None of which are mine sadly, but there's still plenty of time
Also my friend who is due next week, her waters burst today, but no contractions so they sent her home.

BaconWheatCrunchies · 07/01/2010 07:27

Up far too early in this house!

We had a few hrs of snowfall, I'm a bit worried how icy it's going to be out there.

I woke up yesterday with excruiating (sp?)pain in my foot, so much so I had to get DH to get the ibuprofen for me, I couldn't walk without crying! My Dr says I have very tight calves and need to massage my foot, but may need to see a Podiatrist for some orthotic things for my shoes . Anyway it's not hurting as much today 600mg of ibuprofen down, hopefully won't be too bad on drive to work.

I'm still quiet at work so not going in til 9.30, hopefully the ice and accidents will be over by then.

Parents driving back to Hereford today, my Dad wanted to go yesterday, but changed his mind when it started snowing. Bit concerned, will be pleased when I hear they're back in one piece.

DS1 and I have been doing his Xmas thank you list, my DH always hassles me to do it, but doesn't help, must get them done before Feb .

Mitchell hope the snow not getting you down, and the cold!

and everyone else is enjoying what they've got!..

BaconWheatCrunchies · 07/01/2010 07:28

PS yay for SB, how is he?

Lucky2010 · 07/01/2010 10:06

BWC well done on getting your very own FB profile .

Feet are my speciality....quite happy to do a 'web assessment'....email me via FB with more details and don't go getting orthotics too soon....you might just need to stretch your calves and I can show you how (well, send you an exercise sheet or google it and email it!!).

SB is OK. He gets a bit low at this time of year about being on his own, although he's not on his own, he has a 'partner', and I say that in the loosest sense of the word. Bit of a low life no-hoper with serious issues who my brother is for some strange reason really keen on. They've been 'together' 8 months although partner won't recognise it as a relationship as refers to them as friends only. They have been on countless hols and weekends away together (all paid for by my brother ). He's 10 yrs younger than SB, doesn't work 'cos he hasn't found his niche in life' (FFS) and doesn't drive. He lives with his parents (he's 28) and had a toy pig that has to go everywhere with him. He is about £10K in debt which was apparently run up on his credit card by his ex-partner. I'm sceptical about that one. Hmmmm...you see what I mean.
Personally I think he is milking my brother for all he's worth. SB earns really good money and is a very generous person. He always seems to attract no-hopers who see him as a rich generous bloke. It breaks my heart, but if I try and say anything all SB ever says is that me and sis don't realise how lucky we are that we have met such fab men and are married and settled. He's the eldest and I think he finds it really hard. .

Off to work in a bit.

Have a good day all,

Lucky X

Lucky2010 · 07/01/2010 10:10

p.s. Remember Denny, my friend from uni and the April 08 thread? Her DD2 was born beg April so only a month older than DD2 and I spoke to Denny last night and she has potty trained her already !!!

We're planning Easter holidays for that one....any plans you guys?

harimosmummy · 07/01/2010 12:59

Wow, well done Denny!!

I think if I didn't have Mimi, I'd def. be thinking of march / April time (might anyway) as haribo absolutely knows when he needs the loo. He is very funny now - when I change his nappy he just HAS to go wash his hands afterwards. he just copies everything I do!!!

Haribo knows all his colours now and likes to play a game where I ask him to pick a blue car or a red car etc., and he chooses it. it's very sweet

Sorry to hear about SB, LM. I can sort of see his point about you and your Dsis (though I think you DO know that you are lucky!!!) and it's hard when you are attracted to the wrong sort of men...

BWC - Hello!! Well done on the FB account!! Hoep the drive wasn't too bad for you today!

Sho - well that is good news about your friend's niece. Hopefully (in time) they will get it all sorted and the LO will be able to lead a full life.

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying the snow! I'm loving it! haribo just adores it and I'm finding it pretty easy to get about (walking, of course) and lots of friends are off work with their little ones too so it's PLAYTIME!! yeah!! Not sure about Dh getting home for the weekend, but we shall see.

I have one sort of issue here, which I'm really not sure how to deal with - will probably post in the Step parents forum too...

A few weeks ago (when we had the snow before Christmas), DSDs were here and I went to get their ski gear out. DSD2's was here. DSD1 had taken hers home so I said I'd get her mine... Mine was nowhere to be found. DH had a bit of a go about my parents taking it back to their house (to be fair, my mum can squirrel things back to the Motherland!!!) Anyway, I let it go...

After we'd finished playing, I asked DSD2 if she wanted to take her skisuit back with her (they went skiing at New Year) and I got this vague reply but, essentially, no - she had some other stuff to wear.

The pictures have just gone on FB - it's my f^£king jacket, so one of them has obviously taken it at some point... . It's not just like it.. it's the same exact jacket (and, yes, I appreciate it wasn't the only one made, but I bought it back in 2004 and it's VERY specific)

I'm honestly not bothered about the jacket - it was pre-Haribo and I am not the same weight (or shape ) that I was then - so I'd almost certainly get a new one now, but I am pissed off that they've taken it without telling me, and sat through DH having a pop at my mum without saying anything (though I can appreciate that they probably wouldn't have chosen that moment to say 'well, actually, no.. it's my mums')

I really can't decided whether to just let it go or say something.... More so because, other things have goine missing (Including haribo's PASSPORT )

Sorry, long, ranty e-mail - just really not sure what to do about it.

HM x

BaconWheatCrunchies · 07/01/2010 18:39

HM I would be really pissed off if my stuff had been taken without asking, hope you get to the bottom of it.

LM will send more info on foot, he did say to stretch it, but wasn't specific on how...

Re the toileting, DS2 will probably done next year, DS1 was rubbish at it and I've sworn I'll wait until he's really ready.

DS1 was also rubbish at his colours, so I wouldn't even hope for DS2 to know which was a red or a blue car .

Parents got home safe so that's good. Main roads round here fine.

shonnomanom · 07/01/2010 19:12

hm Have you spoke to DH yet about the things going missing? If it was me I think I would speak to him 1st then approach the girls together. That is one of my pet hates, people going through your stuff. I remember when I was about 13yo my uncle and his new wife&daughter came up to visit, SD is 2yrs younger than me and stayed in my room, which I wasnt happy about (typical teenager), one afternoon I found rumaging through my drawers, she actually had the drawers out on the floor! She then tried to claim the things of mine that she taken were hers . Her mum just laughed, they never came back for a visit. Trip down memory lane over..

lucky it sounds like SB is getting used as a sugar daddy

I havent even thought about potty training yet. One of the mums at playgroup, all of her kids were on the potty by 1.6yrs. Child 3of4 (and thats 4under4 btw!)is 1 month older and DD. She has him in pull ups but takes him regularly to go potty and he performs everytime and the pull ups are barely damp.

BaconWheatCrunchies · 08/01/2010 05:58

Far too early....

DS1 woke me at 12 saying his foot hurt and then at 4 because he wanted some medicine, slight copying of me I think. But I couldn't then get back to sleep .

Off out tonight to a friend's for dinner, just girls. But one friend may not be coming due to jet lag. Poor thing was diverted to Birmingham on Wed because Gatwick was closed. They were stuck on the plane after a 9 hr flight from Florida with 2 hungry kids first thing in the morning. They eventually got home at 7.30pm after a coach to Gatwick to pick up their bags and then back down here. Nightmare journey.

One of my friends is staying with her DH and 2 LOs because she lives in Weymouth and it's the best way for her to come out. Her DH used to work with mine so they can have a curry and a few beers. I did look into a babysitter for them, not wanting to use the one form last time that asked to bring 2 friends at the last minute and had let me down the fortnight before. Couldn't get one,so they'll have to stay in!

Must go and look at FB now and trawl for some new friends

Lucky2010 · 08/01/2010 07:02

HM I would think you are well within your rights to broach DSD2 about the jacket seeing as the photos are on FB for you to see? How strange. I also hate the thought of people going through my stuff and am really paranoid about it. DH's best mate has a relatively new girlfriend who I'm not too keen on and she offered to babysit for us once, and I said to DH 'I think she's the sort of person who would be nosing in all our things'.....

BWC DD1 copies me when I've been moaning about aches and pains . She'll say 'my shoulder is killing me today mummy'!!!! Having said that, I've been having some physio on my shoulder for the last few weeks and it is SO MUCH BETTER!!!! About 90% better! I even mananged a 'Harvey Walden' workout DVD last night including press ups etc!!

Sho will keep your friends LO in my prayers .......

talking of which...is anyone watching BB? I am so annoyed with Stephen Baldwin for preaching so much...he is giving us God squadders a bad name!!!

HM Sounds like Haribo has Mummy's intelligence .

My first weigh in....I lost 3 lbs this week!!! woo-hoo! Probably mainly fluid but it still feels good!

HM Yep,I'd be angry too. Tricky.

LM Well done, that's brilliant!

Teething here, DS very grumpy poor wee soul, 4 coming in at once. Not eating well either, not surprising. Currenly been napping for 3 hours!! (this is very very unusual, I usually get an hour if I'm lucky).
