oops i should be in the Oct 04 thread! I was just reading your news and stories cos DD is a halloween baba so nearly Nov! sorry to gatecrash!

Riebee · 10/08/2005 09:22

slave2babe...that is so good to hear your dd doesn't sleep. Ds3 is technically a Oct babe but I stayed on this thread as he was due 3rd Nov but arrived a week early.

Flossam · 10/08/2005 09:33

Riebee, DS is still hit and miss. Some nights straight through, others not. He's just got three teeth through (his first) within a week which might explain some of it bless his heart. He bit his lip on his top one yesterday, I nearly cried too! First time he's bled apart from blood tests etc. Bless him. Still cruising around and around the room, pops over to me for little visits and now occaisionally brings me a toy to play with too. He's also recently started giving me big wide open mouth kisses. Gorgeous! I get more than DP which is something to make me feel smug! Is incredibly strong willed though, will not be told no, although I am pretty sure he understands, sometimes lets out a little cry then carries on regardless! Dp's videos and my books are wrecked! Toys are dull, books are cool!

Riebee · 10/08/2005 09:54

Flossam I get open mouthed kisses too and if I'm very lucky with extra drool!
Now he's on the move theres no stopping him, he's been all around the house this morning. DS2 is not so impressed now that he can't play cars without ds3 rampaging through them. I'm hoping this crawling might help tire him out.
When I tell him no he stops what he's doing and shakes his head then carries on regardless.:0

eidsvold · 26/08/2005 03:33

her first word was Mama... not DADA!! yeh - although dd1 was a dadda.... dd2 is really a mummy's girl and yesterday she said Mama!!

Hi everyone! Been quiet here lately.

ds2 is talking too!! Dadda and hiya are his faves and he does a fab wave with his full arm which cracks everyone up. He is a handful though and we cannot leave him for a second. He gets up the stairs and then gets stuck and shouts for us. He doesnt throw himself down the stairs...he is very cautious and tries to work out how to get down.

We didnt have stair gates with ds1 and just taught him how to get up and down and I think we will try and do the same with this little monkey.

We move back to the UK on the 8 Sept! YAY!!

Riebee · 26/08/2005 16:13

Hi Everyone

I was begining to thing everyone had deserted ship! I've joined the Oct thread just to have someone to chat to.

Collision...Its Cheshire your moving to isn't it? Thats where I'm from originally

ds3 has been saying Mumma..hurrah.. This weeks new things are waving, pointing at everything, climbing stairs and sniffing things. He has me in stitches with the things he does.

Hope everyone is well

collision · 26/08/2005 21:16

Hi Riebee

Yep....Cheshire is where we decided on....Madeley Heath.....cant wait although not looking forward to the weather! Where are you from and where are you now?

We must try harder on this thread! Have you put it on threads you are watching?

Riebee · 27/08/2005 14:03

Collision....I know Madeley Heath. I used to live in a village called Weston, between Crewe and Nantwich, it used to be known for the White Lion pub. I have lived down in the south-west since I was 18 (now 31) but I still consider myself to be a northern lass. My sister still lives in Haslington so I get up there quite often. I do like it up there and I think part of me still yearns to move back., I always think it seems friendlier. What made you pick there?

Eidsvold....lovely dd.....wish I knew how to post a photo. Never mind.

Ds2 is now walking with a babywalker and is very proud of himself.

Riebee...we went to see a few properties but nothing grabbed us. We saw the one in Madeley Heath and loved it and could see potential. It is a lovely area and the school nearby is good (if we can get him in) and we really think we can make a go of it. Let me know when you are over again and we can meet up with our boys.

Riebee · 05/09/2005 20:46

collision....you never know we might manage a meet up. I hope the move goes really smoothly.
Hey I see you started a lively thread about themes in bedrooms. I seem to appear in the fun spoiling snob gang Ha!!

ds3 ( now know as chimpy for his monkey-like tendencies) start mother & baby group this week after weeks on a waiting list. I am just hoping he doesn't cause havoc as he can be a bit like a bull in a chinia shop. this maybe his first and last session.

Hope everyone is ok... Is is soooo quiet on this thread...Is ANYONE out there!

Buddhamummy · 08/09/2005 22:47

Hello fellow november 04 mummys!

I joined mumsnet ages ago then had to go back to work and only now being organised enough to do catch up! Question for you all. I havent yet taken dd to a baby group,(is that bad?) dh and i share child care and i think ive put off doing it as not sure he'll go when i cant? plus bit intimidated as i live in a posh area and im not!!!ha ha!

Buddhamummy · 08/09/2005 23:32

Is this normal? i stopped breastfeeding dd completley at about eight and a half months, Just now having first period since giving birth and i have never had such sore boobs in my life!!

plus have what feels like a few pea sized lumps around nipples. When i squeeze them i can express a few drops of milk! Are these last remaining milk ducts? Not sure if i should leave them to dissapear by themselves or squeeze them?

webmum · 13/09/2005 10:56

buddhamummy

can't help about the breastfeeding, but you dont have to go go to mother and baby's groups, I only went a couple of times and never really enjoyed them, apart from tumble tots. (dd1 enjoyed those not me!!)

I wouldn't worry about the poshness thing, but only go if you feel like, don't think you owe to the baby. Babies will probably prefer adult company anyway!!

gingernut · 14/10/2005 00:30

Oi you lot! Are you still there ?

Can't believe our babies are nearly a year old. When was the first one born?

eidsvold · 24/10/2005 00:52

wow - whose little one is the first to turn 1??

We still have a few more weeks..

any grand plans for birthdays?!?

dd2's latest pic here

gingernut · 24/10/2005 10:18

Hello eidsvold, we still have a few weeks to go as ds2 was one of the last to arrive, born on 29th Nov. I think Mum2Ela's ds was one of the firts. Haven't seen her around for ages, but maybe she changed her name after he arrived. Just had a look at your latest photo of dd2 - very cute. Our ds2 is at a gorgeous stage - trying desperately to stand but can only manage a few seconds as yet. I am getting him some shoes this week cos he likes to cruise around at the playground and of course the weather here isn't too hot at the moment!

eidsvold · 24/10/2005 12:29

yes dd2 is pulling herself up on whatever is handy.... she is 15 Nov so we have a while to go yet.

OP posts:
webmum · 26/10/2005 10:49

dd2's birthday is on the 9th. Her sister has already chosen the cake!!

She's standing up lots, and clapping her hands while she does it, but not walking yet, but it won't be long now! Time has flown hasn't it? I can't quite believe it's already one year!

collision · 26/10/2005 17:06

Well since we moved back, ds2 has been in hospital with severe croup. He had 4 doses of steroids instead of the usual one dose and was v poorly. ds1 got chickenpox and has been in for the last 10 days and is going stir crazy! and now ds2 has a temp and is very sorry for himself!

We did open our new restaurant tho and all is well.

eidsvold · 26/10/2005 22:44

ohh collision - our dd1 has had a number of episodes of croup - two which meant an overnight hospital stay and two which leared up fairly quickly. We have now got some medication that we can give to dd1 when we suspect she is due for a bout... we have managed to avert another two episodes.... that cough is terrible isn't it..

dd1 has also had chicken pox - terribly.... huge sympathies there

BUT congrats on opening the restuarant.

OP posts:
collision · 29/10/2005 22:11

thanks Eidsvold....ds2 now has chickenpox too! At least it is over with though.

With the croup thing, I made the mistake of asking if you can die of croup and the nurse said 'yes and he has it very badly!!' I was on my own with him and it was 4.30am and very emotional! Just the chicken pox to deal with now. He is 11 months.........can I give him Piriton?

gingernut · 29/10/2005 22:24

Hi collision, sorry to hear about the CP. Piriton isn't recommended for children under 1 year. Personally I'd give it as he's nearly 1 but that's just me! I didn't find it any use though although it works for some people (I had CP as an adult nearly 2 years ago, then I gave it to ds1!). The best thing I found for the itching was calamine cream (4% strength) which was very soothing. You could try medised which also contains an antihistmine and is OK to give to babies under 1 year.

collision · 30/10/2005 19:56

Thanks gingernut! I gave him some piriton tonight and will see how it goes! He is much spottier than ds1 was but isnt scratching yet. I have calamine as well if he does start to scratch. Poor little thing.....me that is!! Am housebound for another 10 days!! i will be the queen of daytime TV!
