Hope you don't mind the dodgy thread name but all our babies are 9 months old now or in the next few weeks

Daisy and WG - so very sorry about the family illnesses. Those situations are so hard, especially when you still have to keep dealing with all the other things in life...Please don't stop posting, that's what the thread is for.

JJ - I'm afraid we've never managed to have anyone else put our children to bed and DD is 2.5! Bit rubbish I know.

No stairgates in this house (mostly because we couldn't find one to fit round our oddly shaped bannisters). DD was very happy climbing up and down on her own without any trouble and DS seems well on the way to doing the same, so I guess I am relatively relaxed about it. Somehow they know not to try things they can't safely do. (or learn pretty soon!)

Funny how VC seems to be a common point of contact on this thread...I can't claim to know her personally, but I was at the same university at the same time and followed her relatively high profile, glamorous "career" in the university rags. Somehow did feel a bit young and dull by comparison, but I am sure that was all projection on my part.

kayz - nothing like a great new haircut for feeling like a new woman!

TheInvisibleHand · 23/10/2009 12:42

Oh and LadyT - completely agree about Griffin. Couldn't quite bring myself to watch him last night, but as an immigrant to this country I find the whole thing pretty repellant.

jumpjockey · 23/10/2009 15:23

daisy darling don't you dare stop posting, you've got such a lot on your plate at the moment, and if it helps to get things out of your system then that's what we're here for. Praying for your family and especially for you, and really hope your granddad had some good news today.

sybil how often is your DH home? Is there anyone else who could help give you a bit of a break?

trace that's so lovely about P standing up, it's amazing how over the past few months they've gone from being pretty generic babies if we're honest to being their own little people How's the giant jaffa cake gone? And is it just me that thinks it's a disgrace they've removed the phrase "smashing orangey bit" and replaced it with something ridiculous like "zesty orange centre". It will always be a smashing orangey bit, thankyou very much I can just picture you and L having a little midnight cuddle and reassure, almost worth the nightmare for the special time together afterwards.
veggie great news that everything's coming together - and lovely to have a week with DH as well I'd be up for coming down next Thurs possibly, any further plans yet?

Nick Griffin - urgh. Didn't watch QT as we'd already gone to bed and am not sure if I want to see it on iplayer, it's really difficult to know whether know your enemy is best or if it will just lead to throwing the laptop down in disgust.

WG big prayers for your FIL as well. And absolutely yes to giving madam hugs if she's ill at night, there's hardball with a baby in full flush of health and there's going with your instincts when she needs extra care.

LadyT - O may not be on the move but she's a chatterbox! It just proves that they'll learn one thing at a time and then catch up on the others later. DD has only got one "word" which is a kind of up/ab/ib sort of thing and it seems to mean everything!

Aub [dons mask] have you got someone who can get you tamiflu and knock the sf on the head? Do take care of yourself.

kiwi oooh I would have loved to work on that programme, I'm a total word geek (not that you'd tell from my remarkably uneloquent postings ) Am on twitter just because we had to sign up as part of a work project, I've done a whole 4 updates in about 9 months but keep getting emails from people saying they're following me. Mostly spammers I think Don't get a kindle, wait for this to come out it's a single sheet that bends like a real book.

Right, can I ask your opinions on my other thread? It's a dilemma that I shouldn't really be complaining about as it involves a holiday but am really not sure what the best thing to do would be. The trip to France was lovely in some ways but exhausting in others, and I don't know how much harder it would be with a toddler who's almost at the terrible 2 stage!other thread

sybilfaulty · 23/10/2009 15:35

I didn't get very far with my mammoth catch up last night but just wanted to say HUGE amounts of love and good wishes to anyone who is having a hard time of it, esp poor Daisy. I keep thinking of you and everything you are facing just now and I think you are bloody marvellous for holding everyone together and keeping the show on the road. Big love to you my darling.

Trace - as the mother of a big Lucy as well , I wanted to send a special wave to you as you have had a lot to deal with too. Hope you get a bit of a breather over half term.

I'll try to come back later as I feed M to sleep so read more closely, but love and happy fridays to you all.

Kayzr · 23/10/2009 19:40

Just found my dream job! It is working for BBC Yorkshire as a football reporter. Apart from the fact I know nothing about working on TV and I would probably stand in front of the camera and not be able to say anything, I would love it!!

I had my drastic hair cut and oh my god I love it!!!

notjustanumber · 23/10/2009 19:55

Kayz can you post a pic ? I need a drastic new look too !

JJ can you bring anyone with you to help out ? Then it could work. I think it would depend on what DD is like as a toddler. I would trust DS1 on a trip like that, he is sensitive and easier to please. DS2, well, he is shaping up to be a bit different I think If there us any chance of you having more than one, definitely no, without help, IMHO.

Daisy, I'm thinking of you. Dont stop posting. I think MN is a great support community, thats what it for ! And I've found it very comforting, speaking for myself.

notjustanumber · 23/10/2009 19:57

Oh, and the only time anyone has put DS1 to bed except for one of us was when I went in to be induced. It made me cry A LOT to put his pyjamas out that night. Seems silly now...!

traceface · 23/10/2009 19:57

ooh give us a pic of the new hair Kayz!!!!please

Kayzr · 23/10/2009 20:27

Pic on my profile. Mum is dying it on Sunday.

KiwiPanda · 23/10/2009 20:32

JJ Oo I want one of those! I was a word geek before but it's nothing on what two series of that programme did to me. Now I am a pub bore. Of the "oh no I think you'll find that etymology is entirely unproven if you look in the OED..." type. Though I did get to drink cocktails with Jerry Hall in New Orleans for work, so it wasn't all bad

WG We went to similar schools then (just noticed you were at school with VC) - another posh Hammersmith school over here...

Daisy Feel bad for not saying earlier - thinking of you and your family.

KiwiPanda · 23/10/2009 20:34

ps after the never-left-DD at bedtime talk, I am going out to a wedding tomorrow, was just going to go to the evening do but DH has just said he'll take DD if I bring her to the office at 5 (he's working tomorrow) and do the rest. Ooo! Nervous now

traceface · 23/10/2009 20:37

ooh Kayz I like it . It really suits you. What colour is your mum dyeing it?

Kayzr · 23/10/2009 20:41

Purple!! I am so excited about it!

waitinggirl · 23/10/2009 20:47

kiwi - school with a dolphin in the name? our arch rivals???

Beans33 · 23/10/2009 21:16

Am I too late for this thread? Have you all moved on? x

waitinggirl · 23/10/2009 21:24

yay, welcome back beans - have been passing through clapham junction for work and been thinking about you every week! how are you and I (am i right on the name?)?

KiwiPanda · 23/10/2009 21:25

WG It's late and I'm being slow - but you and VC were at, err, the dophin school yeah? I was at the one with no uniform..

Beans33 · 23/10/2009 21:27

Oh phew, still here. How are you all? Just got back from 6 days in Morroco without DD - left her with my Mum and I missed her terribly. But the holiday was FANTASTIC! And at this age, I think the nippers are fairly easy to leave with other people. I don't think Whizzer (I know, odd nickname, but really suits her!) even noticed that I wasn't there. And Mum & Dad loved it! But it could have been anyone who was kind to her and she'd have been fine!

Gosh, again haven't been on in ages, so haven't really been able to have a good catch up. I hope all with family illnesses are ok and bearing up.

So, I have news...

I haven't even told DH this yet, but I did a test this morning and I'm pregnant again. Oh shit! And yay! And dear GOD! How did that happen? I mean, I know how it happened, obviously. BUt thought it would take months before we conceived again. I don't know why as DD was on first try (after initial miscarriage). But I've only had one period since having Whizzer. I mean, really really early days - like 4 weeks, so anything could happen. But HELP! I'm very excited and terrified and think I'm in shock! And I've just been trekking in the Atlas Mountains for 3 days eating god knows what and boozing happily away on Weds night!!! Oops. Quite daunting and thoughts are jumbling. Fingers crossed I don't miscarry, such early days. Sorry, garble garble, me me me... DH away this weekend, so can't tell him til Sunday as he's with all his family and might shit himself if I tell him over the phone!!! I think! EEK.

Beans33 · 23/10/2009 21:28

Hey WG - you do have the right name! I indeed. We're so well. Hope you are too?? x

Rubena · 23/10/2009 21:38

Hi Beans!!!! Are you back to stay?? Hope so

This cryptic little side convo has me intrigued, but I've cracked it I think!

waitinggirl · 23/10/2009 21:41

beans - OH. MY. GOD. this is great great news, congratulations. fingers crossed. i know the mc threat is always in one's head, but there is nothing you can do about it. just wait and see and in the words of my best friend's mum, think happy thoughts. and don't forget to breathe. yay yay yay!!!

kiwi - i fear we were all at the same school. VC and i went to the one named after the road to damascus man with no uniform. (apols to everyone else with this cryptic talk). actually, we should probably fb about this and not bore everyone else with it.

Beans33 · 23/10/2009 21:46

Thanks WG. Scary hairy. Will have to join a "Due June 2010" thread!!! How weird is that??????

Am horrified that I can't remember the name of your DD. So sorry! Does anyone still ahve the list of all babies and dates etc? Can't believe it's coming up to a year already nearly!

Rubena · 23/10/2009 21:56

Beans!!! X-Posted CONGRATS!! Were you trying?? Or rather not - not trying? We're trying here... no luck yet so won't be on a thread with you but hope you stick around!! I'm hoping for due July thread!!

Kayzr · 23/10/2009 21:56

Wow!!!! Congratulations Beans!!!! What brilliant news. So so pleased for you.

Beans33 · 23/10/2009 22:10

Thanks Rubena - we weren't not trying, that's exactly it! Double negatives abound. Good luck to you - I'm not due til 26th June (according to calculator thingy), and my bday is 28th - would be a great present!

Thanks Kayzr - it is exciting and still trying to get my head around it.
