Thought I'd start a new thread as as soon as evie pops we're bound to fill it hugely and some of us have phones to work with!

Ff already knows that she can get out of a big bed. On the weekends she sometimes comes in with us for a story and a cuddle and more sleep for me, and is very adept and escaping and running around the bedroom ransacking drawers. Bloke has come up with a cunning plan to buy us both an extra ten minutes though- he downloaded a few episodes of Peppa onto his phone, and she sits nicely between us watching that. [neglectful mother emoticon]

I have no doubt that were she in a bed she was able to escape from she would. I have become very attached to my 13 hours of her being in bed, and am reluctant to upset the applecart. Hopefully she'll fit the cot until she's at least five...

pantshavenames · 21/01/2010 11:34

We put DD in a big bed at the start of the winter to negate the need to buy extra bedding and she learned within a day or two that that meant she was free to wander. (took DS weeks to twig that one) the cuteness factor of her wandering in first thing saying 'helloooooo' waned when she decided that the day started at 4.30. So now she has a stairgate at the entrance to her room that she stands and looks longingly over a la prisoner cell block H.
If anyone wants to try it I have a 18-36 month jojo sleeping bag that DS used? He got quite adept at walking in it like walking in a sack race

Oh and congratulations Meg, on the pregnancy and the commute. I always loved commuting, particularly when I lived in Hong Kong and my commute was a ferry ride through Victoria Harbour.

turtle23 · 22/01/2010 14:24

There is heat and hot water chez turtle again. P is much better and eating again. T is enormous and smiling away. Old friend turned up today and told me how attractive he thinks I am. He's lovely, but unfortunately married.
I have just spent the last two hours sitting on my backside MNing and FBing. Two sleeping boys...ahhh.
Sure nobody cares about the details of my lfe but I'm such a bloody whinger I thought I'd say something positive for once!

she said inconsequentially

turtle23 · 25/01/2010 10:27

(Meg..no, "lovely" friend said it in a bit of a different way. I chose not to tell his wife.)

merryberry · 25/01/2010 11:27

QUICK! i get to use the emoticon on the 'lovely friend's' naughtiness

megonthemoon · 25/01/2010 11:53

well, even better as a confidence boost, i'd say, however naughty he was

megonthemoon · 25/01/2010 11:59

i've just braved my first sussex playgroup and have acquired the phone numbers of two lovely mums now i just need to pluck up the courage to actually call and arrange coffee with them!

DS is obsessed with trains all of a sudden. Truly obsessed. He has a toy oven, he has a baby and pushchair, he has a shop, he has arty things, we bake, he has a pink cup and red clothes, but he chooses to devote his every waking hour to a proper boy's thing . I was trying so hard to bring him up gender-neutral and he's already breaking my heart before he's 2. What are the teenage years going to be like?

timmyinatizzy · 25/01/2010 21:12

DS is currently sitting on the living room floor reading all his books. Yes he is still up, and no he won't go to sleep!

Thought we had a breakthrough last week. DH put DS to bed on Thursday night as I was out, it took him 12 minutes to fall asleep. Friday night, I went out to do the weekly shop to see if Thursday night was a one-off and let made let DH do it again. This time he did it in 10 minutes. I was so . Saturday night only took me half an hour, but last night he wouldn't go to sleep until 9.50! We ended up bringing him downstairs, which I have done again tonight. We blamed a late nap yesterday, but he had his usual nursery routine today..... Would it be wrong to put the bars back on his cot? Although I think that it may confuse him and I'm resigned to him being up until 10 every night

PS Burns night emoticons are fab!

merryberry · 25/01/2010 21:33

if you do it this way, old hmm can tell there's something up

turtle23 · 26/01/2010 05:45

Is my baby trying to be the biggest baby ever? More growth spurting. Sigh. I must invest in Sky as the tv on at 3am is truly rubbish.

Meg-Pleased that you've made some contacts...well done!! I must really start going to playgroups again. I find them terrifying.
P is also train obsessed. His doll and teaset are now never played with!

I fancy taking P to the London Aquarium. Anybody want to join me?

Hi! I was called purlyqueen, but changed my name when I found out that anyone could see what i've been posting on mumsnet by googling my username .

Glad to hear all the toddlers are doing well. Matthew is talking away. He is now obsessed with In the Night Garden and his toy buggy that I bought him for Christmas!

Looks like M will be getting a brother or sister in August, so that makes me nearly 10 weeks . This pregnancy doesn't feel real as I've had even fewer symptoms than last time. I'm trying to be patient and wait for my 12-week NHS scan.

merryberry · 26/01/2010 18:27

fabulous news ronx

timmyinatizzy · 26/01/2010 21:14

Yay to Ronx . Don't you all go and start getting me broody. Keep repeating the mantra and breathe.

Ewe · 26/01/2010 22:39

Congrats ronx!

turtle - I am totally up for aquarium, was going to text you this evening and suggest aquarium/museum/gallery type outing. We might even be able to distract the terrors toddlers enough to actually have a proper gossip!

turtle23 · 27/01/2010 06:12

Hurrah for Ronx! We're really getting going on the sibling front!!

OP posts:
megonthemoon · 27/01/2010 09:54

oooh fabulous news ronx! i wish i had fewer symptoms this time round - definitely have more this time although not horrendous thank goodness, but it's hard being knackered/nauseous with a toddler to entertain - think he is very grateful for nursery at the moment, as am I! i hit 7 weeks yesterday so only a few weeks behind you

crashfistfight · 27/01/2010 13:40

C R A S H!

Hello ladies! Been lurking off and on for a bit now but in between a broken laptop, a constant stream of rotating house guests (still going) and a holiday I've been out of touch for a while now.

Congratulations to all of you with little ones on the way! I should add myself to the list as well - just about 15 weeks now so looks like there are a bunch of us due within a couple of months of each other...Meg- I had more severe morning sickness this time around too, maybe its just plain getting older??

DD is doing great, chattering non stop and very independent but sociable. She's outgrown the usual playgroup we've been going to for over a year now so we've started going to a playgroup at a steiner school which is a real laugh. they only speak in whispers, sing everything, put on gnomey puppet shows and bake bread.

I can't wait for spring to spring.

ronx · 27/01/2010 15:17

Ooh! more babies .

Thankfully it's Matthew's day at the childminder today, so I managed to get a couple of hours sleep before coming to work. I still feel knackered though ...

turtle23 · 27/01/2010 16:59

Congrats CFF! Lovely babies everywhere.
I want to go to a Steiner playgroup! Where is it!

OP posts:
merryberry · 27/01/2010 18:51

lol big time at gnomey puppet shows
congratulations to you too cff.
happy news!

ilovegreenbeans · 27/01/2010 19:57

Wow- hooray for more babies! 34 + 4 today here

Remember the stabbing headbutts into your fanjo? I have no idea what it's doing down there except making me uncomfortable...

DH and I have decided it's almost time to get out of East London: H has started to shout "Mummmaaaay" and "Dadaaaaaiy" to get our attention! Flat is almost on the market- woohoo scary! (disclaimer: we've been planning on selling up and going to Canada for 6 months this spring/summer, and either staying on or coming back to the UK after. Been planning it for a while now)

timmyinatizzy · 27/01/2010 21:28

More babies!!! >

DH did bedtime again tonight as I had to pick DSD's up from youth club. Only took him half an hour today. Yay! DH has now put him to bed more times in the past week than ever does. He normally only does a Thursday when I go out.

I decided enough was enough with the post baby weight and signed up for Slimming World in September. I've done it in the past and it worked for me then. Since September I have lost 1 stone . I've also gone down a size and a half from a 14/16 to a 12.

(Whispers, can you all believe that our babies will be two in about 5 to 8 weeks time) No me neither, its very scary to think where the time has gone. 2 years ago I was getting ready to go on Maternity Leave. Eek. Now I've been back a whole year.
