evening all - got a text from LBB - her computer is all virused up (is it possible for a computer to get swine flu?) so she's going to be missing in action for a few days till its back in the land of the living.

Hope you've all been out enjoying yourselves in the sun today. Took DS1 out to Regents Park in his natty new helmet to scooter around and had a nice trip to the zoo. Danny is teething again and has a cold again and is not sleeping at all again (got 2 hours in last night because I coslept with him and basically cuddled him to sleep) or taking bottles again (he screams as soon as he sees one) - I am despairing - again! This feels very much like groundhog day - must repeat mantra - again - that this too will pass. Ho hum.

SweetTalkinWoman · 04/10/2009 20:38

Aarrgh - computer about to die! V quick - hope DS1 ok dinky? Re Danny, we are also struggling to get Sam to take formula - our only hope is dreamfeeding him before we go to bed when he will take 6oz, no problem. During the day he just plays with bottle and only a couple of oz. Just thought this might help?

Right bleeping getting insistant now so off to find lead....

dinkystinkystein · 04/10/2009 20:42

Thanks STW - does help to know am not in the bottle battle wilderness alone. Really thought had cracked it with Danny and bottles but he hates them and hates formula but loves food. DS1 would tolerate formula and grew to like bottles but hated food. Have to keep telling myself that in the longterm its a good thing that Danny loves - and is interested in - food and its only another 4 months or so until we can move him to cow's milk, which judging by the way he attacks rice pudding, plain porridge, natural yoghurt etc he likes the taste of.

DS1 is ok - just looking rather motley at the moment but is his usual happy chipper self and amazingly actually eating really well at the moment.

swampster · 04/10/2009 22:38

I spent AGES getting DS1 and DS2 to take a bottle of formula. And AGES getting them to stop. DS3 doesn't fancy one either and so... today I tried him on some formula in a spouty cup and he really likes it.

He also enjoys drinking water through a straw (his brothers' Playtex straw bottles). I reckon he doesn't ever need to have a bottle seeing as he's happy enough drinking from other things - easier in the long run. Have you tried Danny with other drinking utensils?

(((((Huuuuuuuuuggggggggssssssssss))))) to everyone - I have had a glass of wine!

littlesez · 05/10/2009 07:54

morning lovelies! been up since 5 but its long and boring story. had a BETTER night tho as on hols up as frequent as every hour. "holiday" was shite, i spentthe week washing, cleaning, feeding only without the comfort on a washing machine/dryer/internet/mum friends to keep me sane.

sorry that sounds so selfish

glad to be home really

twas me who started the whole who will be next conversation, it will most def not be me, no broodyness here not til sorted my head out re birth stuff but is getting easier finally

dinky, hope your ok, i still feed to sleep which apparently is a big no no she wont even be cuddled to sleep just boobed until my nips drop off!

dinkystinkystein · 05/10/2009 10:59

Morning all. Sorry you had a rubbish holiday LittleSez - hopefully you've recovered from it. I find Danny is v unsettled when we're away from home too - not that you could really tell any difference these days. Yawn -midnight wakings for hours still going on.

Swampster - have tried the monkey on sippy cups and doidy cups for formula too which are hurled across the room with great force. I think its the formula he object to as he loves drinking water out of them. Sigh. Might try a straw drinking cup next.

Secondment not happening - hurrah! Now can focus on getting back into swing of things at work and then on cracking getting Danny to snooze. DS1 started preschool today - was so excited. Am hoping he's having a fun morning - left him playing with cars this morning...

dinkystinkystein · 05/10/2009 12:20

Oh no DS1 was crying when our nanny picked him up today. Not a good start

SweetTalkinZombie · 05/10/2009 13:53

Dinky hope DS1 settles at pre-school - when's he there next? Did he say why he was crying - poor little thing!

We are having trouble getting any liquids into Sam at the moment - have tried various bottles, cups and beakers. He's so constipated but just being told to get more liquids into him. Next step is to flavour the Neocate..... mmmm, strawberry milkshake anyone!

Littlesez sorry your hols were not so great. That's why I refused to go away with DH this year - he will only go somewhere he can take his bike, which means I would end up on my own most days and still have to do all the things you need to do for a 2.2 yr and 7 month old, without all my home comforts and friends. He wants us to go to Whistler next summer but at the moment I'm a bit hesitant. A 10 hour flight and 9 hour time difference with 2 kids, plus being a bike widow....

Well, DD and Sam start full time at the c/minder's tomoro but I don't go back to work til Thursday. It's my birthday tomoro (37 - aaarrrgggh) and DH has taken the day off so we are planning to go out for a long, possibly boozy lunch so we can be hungover in the evening . Really looking forward to it, but just hope it stops raining.

Got a new work wardrobe as my old clothes still don't fit so feel a bit readier for Thursday. Just got to get my brain in gear. Better go as I can hear DD out of bad wreaking havoc upstairs. Catch you later!

BloodRedTulips · 05/10/2009 15:07

markin for later.

can't type now, aaron is wiggling too much on my lap0 keeps kicking keyboard!

Calico1 · 05/10/2009 17:48

Hi all - hope everyone is well.Ssorry for lack of posts for a few weeks. DH took away my nice shiny computer for an assistant at work to 'borrow' and left me with one that takes about 10 mins to open a web page so haven't had time to read anything let alone post something. I have stolen his laptop whilst he is out for a walk with the kids....

All ok here. Lilian has just mastered the art of sitting up and is very pleased with herself and a lot less whiney now that she can sit and reach for things. Nights have been great (both of them sleeping 11 hours!!) for a while but have slid back into the 2 or 3 hourly wake ups this week for some reason - damn it

Dinky I'm sure your DS will settle at pre-school very soon. My DS starts for 2 mornings a week in November. I am a bit worried about him settling in as he isn't great with new situations and new faces, and I had hoped to have him potty trained by then but no such luck....he refuses to even consider it.

Right - will try to read the last few pages now before DH realises I am on his 'puter.

Cocodrillo · 05/10/2009 21:39

Sorry things are tough at the moment Dinky. I'm sure DS1's tears won't last, but I know how upsetting it can be until they settle.

elkiedee · 05/10/2009 23:38

Dinky, as D is 8 months and eating at least some other foods, drinking water etc, perhaps you should just give him, or ask nanny to give him, lots of milky food like yoghurt etc, and make sure he's getting something when you're not around that way. Hope DS1 settles better at preschool.

dinkystinkystein · 06/10/2009 08:43

Thanks guys. Apparently DS1 was crying because a boy was snatching and another boy wouldnt share. That said, he was still looking forward to going to nursery today (or so he claimed) so fingers crossed all will be ok. The real shame is that his two little friends who he gets on brilliantly are in the other nursery class and he really wants to go there to play with them

Elkie - have tried the milky food route. Danny will tolerate a bit of yoghurt/creamy sauce but as he is very definite about wanting to feed himself not much of it makes it in to his tummy. Tried him on porridge the other morning and dont think any of it got into him - though am still finding bits of porridge several days later in different places in the kitchen...

Calico - lovely to see you on. Hope you manage to keep hold of the computer!

dinkystinkystein · 06/10/2009 08:44

p.s. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STW (or STZ!) - hope you have a fantastic day today. Sending you virtual champagne and cake!

BloodRedTulips · 06/10/2009 10:02

Happy birthday STW hope it's a peaceful one

thehouseofswineflu · 06/10/2009 10:51

Happy Birthday STW hope you have a great day.

We're a bit poorly here and I've lost count of the number of times we've watched 101 Dalmatians!

rosieposey · 06/10/2009 11:41

Happy birthday STW - have a good one Sorry you are all poorly HOM, i almost feel afraid to say that we haven't had a swine flu episode yet in our family (apart from MIL) just incase we end up with it. Would be bad with DH, DD3 and me having asthma and even worse for the baby.

Dinky sorry you are having a tricky time with D and bottles - must be really stressful for you. I cant get Milo to take a drink out of a sippy cup and he doesnt seem to be able to get the hang of a straw either. He will drink out of a normal cup but it goes everywhere.

Bit stressed as waiting to exchange contracts on our new house and was hoping to have done that by now - really hope it is done by the end of this week then we can request a completion date for the beginning of December as i would really hate to move in right on top of Christmas.

Milo isnt getting much in with the BLW either lol - the dog is benefitting massively though. He is definately getting better at picking things up though

MarkStretch · 06/10/2009 16:00

Marking cos I keep losing you all.

Knackered today, Frank still sleeping through but waking up at 5.30am every morning.

SNORE.

katieblirdsnest · 06/10/2009 18:32

Happy Birthday STW hope you've had a lovely boozy day and are suitably hungover now.

Dinky hope 2nd day at pre-school went better than 1st. he'll get used to it really soon.

my dd was stood up today! we'd arranged for one of her friends to come round after school and they'd both talked about it and even agreed last night what they wanted for their tea. so dd went off to school thinking that was still happening. whilst at school the friend's mum texted our nanny to say he didn't want to come any more and that she wouldn't force him, nanny called her and she said that he wanted to go to his neighbour's house instead. all very odd and boo to the nasty boy for letting her down. our nanny has since told me someone else picked him up from school so perhaps something complicated was going on but it all feels like a vision to the dating teenagers future.

i had a lovely time at the wedding and managed not to feel guilty. the kids also had a great time with their grandparents and are both being lovely and loving at the moment so apologies for my paranoid moment.

hom hope you all get through it relatively easily.

dinkystinkystein · 06/10/2009 20:16

Poor THOM - hope you and your boys all get better really really soon.

Rosie - good luck on exchanging contracts. So exciting! Dont worry about Milo not getting much to eat while BLWing - I always think Danny isnt getting much but he is managing to produce surprisingly huge grown up like poos so clearly plenty is somehow making its way into his digestive system....

KBN - glad you had a lovely time at the wedding. DS1 really enjoyed preschool today and got a smiley stamp for being a happy little trooper so fingers crossed tomorrow will be a good day too. Danny on the other hand is full of cold -again- and grumpy as all hell. I seem to give birth to little boys with next to no immune systems!

SweetTalkinZombie · 06/10/2009 20:31

Thanks for birthday wishes! Had a lovely day - felt a bit guilty being out without the kids but it was great . Another year older though....

HOM hope you are all on the road to recovery, and Dinky sorry to hear that Danny has another cold! Sam has one too but it doesn't seem to have made him too miserable (yet ).

Rosie fingers crossed on the exchange - a very stressful time! I never want to move house again!

KBN I can't belieev it all starts this early! Hope your DD has not been too put out by it. Glad you enjoyed the wedding!

I can't remember who mentioned it (maybe LMN) but i have succeeded in getting fluids into Sam by lying him down on his back - hurrah! I think it works because he can't really see anything so is not so distacted.

Off now to watch FlashForward - anyone been watching this Channel Five series? Am enjoying it so far!

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 06/10/2009 21:52

Hello everyone

Glad day 2 was better than yesterday Dinky . I'm dreading all the colds / illnesses when my two go back to nursery in December. I've saved some leave for when they are ill as I remember what is was like last time!

Hope exchange is soon Rosie....very stressful. Our completion date on this house was the last working day before Xmas (17th!!) and it certainly gave me a deadline to get unpacked!!!

Happy birthday STW

Is 8 months a growth spurt time? DS had 8oz milk before bed last night then6oz at 12 and another 6oz at 5am then weetabix and another 6oz at 8am . He hasn't done that for ages!

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 06/10/2009 21:53

Where is MOS?

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 06/10/2009 21:55

and Rosie....as we completed so late before Xmas....our solicitor "forgot" to pay our stamp duty and I got fined by the inland revenue so may be worth completing as early as you can!!

dinkystinkystein · 07/10/2009 11:00

Certainly sounds like your DS is having a growth spurt LMN - I think 9 months is the classic growth spurt time but if I recollect right your DS was born a little early due to a C-sec and was one of the first babies born so he may well be coming up to his growth spurt time anyway.

Nightmare re your completion - your conveyancer sounds like a total dodo!
