Yes, DH is being a star and taking his turns too but Danny just seems to settle with me rather than him at the moment.

Oh dear. ds1 is going through a stage of that too

PolkSaladLucie · 16/09/2009 12:22

I'll post the recipes later when I get home.

This morning went well, although it was a bit of a rush to get M over there at 8. Had a bit of a wibble when I got to work, and then realised I left my mobile at home!

lbb - J is like that, he is waking at night and I'm not, but he says it's easier to get up and sooth her than wake me and then we'll both be awake. My thinking is the same, so if I don wake, I get up.

I had the shock of my life last night, when I saw M pulling herself up and trying to walk along holding on to the edge of the sofa. Since she started trying to crawl she has been going on hands and feet and trying to monkey walk, so I think she's going to be running around by Chistmas! Argh!

littleboyblue · 16/09/2009 14:39

PSL So sweet!!!!!!!!! I remember Jacob crawling on hands and feet before he walked. It's very funny.
I'm hoping Luke will be crawling by xmas. Jacob did it at 10 months, so hopefully Luke'll have it down by then. He's close to crawling, he gets onto all fours and rocks. Then jacob laughs at him, so Luke laughs and then falls over, so jacob sits on him, then the crying starts blah blah blah blah......

katieblirdsnest · 16/09/2009 14:56

stupid new computer. i'd typed long(ish) post and then some new security screen popped up and when i got back my message had gone.

got to run now so will try again later.

PinkTulips · 16/09/2009 20:46

PSL.... A and M will be racing each other to walk first i think, he tried to pull up on the couch last night and he does the funny monkey walk too

Cocodrillo · 16/09/2009 21:18

Amazed at all these crawling and cruising baby.

Big Fatty can't even sit, he just rolls all over the floor grabbing the DDs' tiny playthings to suffocate himself with, strangle himself with and choke himself on.

TBH I like the fact that my babies are all lumps, as once they're on the move they are a total PITA for about 18 months.

bumpsnowjustplump · 16/09/2009 21:55

Hello all. Back from holiday and all is well. DS is much better now after getting a virus and chest infection before we left. AB worked though and he is fine now....

DS is crawling everywhere and pulling himself up on the furniture... He looks so little. He has had his first crawling injury as well now (carpet burns on his nose and cheeks...)!!

Jessica loved the holiday and it was worth it so see her face all week she was so good....

Weaning is going ok but he doesn't seem to be eating very much... He still BF a lot so hope that is enough for him (if not there is not much I can do about it is there....)

Hope you are all well...

dinkystinky · 17/09/2009 09:05

Glad you had a good holiday Bumps though sorry to hear about O's crawling injuries.

God its quiet on here now - Hope everyone else is good and enjoying the september sun.

Another rubbish night in the dinky household thanks to Danny who is snotty and teething - wont bf, wont eat, wont sleep and will only bite or snot or cry on me. I want my chilled happy baby back! Fingers crossed this phase passes soon or am going to have to invest in some scaffolding to keep my eyes open at work...

Hi all

Sorry I've not been around much. This thread will explain a bit more. Can I selfishly ask you all for your help too?

thehouseofmirth · 17/09/2009 10:51

MS I've posted on your other thread.

I have mainly been doing lurking. Mr T got 4 teeth in a week & is in crawling training mode (damn).

DS1 started school on Tuesday!

littleboyblue · 17/09/2009 12:09

bumps Glad you all had a good holiday

dinky It won't be much longer now, let's hope.

thom how is it with ds1 at school? Are you enjoying time on your own with T? I can't wait tbh, but sure it'll be a diffrent story when it's time for Jacob to go.

Luke is having an omlette for lunch, he's eating it but isn't overly keen. I've put a little bit on ds1's plate, but he hasn't touched it.

Gonna look at MS's other thread now......

littleboyblue · 17/09/2009 12:12

MS Sorry about your probs and that you might have to stop feeding H.

When do you start the drugs? Can you express and get him used to the bottle first with a taste he already knows? Then you can mix formula in and gently wean him off like that?

bumpsnowjustplump · 17/09/2009 12:23

MS reallys sorry you are going through this... But it does sound like you may not have to give up BF if there is an alternative drug you can take.... Hope it all works out ok

I have just had a hv basically tell me i am not feeding ds enough and not giving him the right foods as he has only put on a few oz in 6 weeks.....

She said I should be giving dairy and wheat as there is no evidence of alergy. She also said I should be giving vit drops if no formula.... WTF I will be ignoring her and doing what i am doing but may still get vit drops as dont think there is any harm in that...

thehouseofmirth · 17/09/2009 12:49

Bumps Mr T is on no solids at all and is absolutely fine. Haven't had him weighed for months but he looks healthy and is very active. By this age DS1 was eating some solids but I can remember being reduced to tears by an ill-informed HV who told me his weight wasn't good enough & that he should be on 3 meals a day. The sent the Weaning Nurse to my house & she contradicted everything HV had said and told me to carry on as I was!

I thought that the thing with vitamins is that those present in breast milk are much more readily absorbed by the baby than the ones added to formula. However, I'm going to check with my La Leche League-trained friend.

LBBenjoying school so far. It is the one where he went to nursery so that's really helped. It's lovely having a bit of time alone with Mr T.

dinkystinky · 17/09/2009 14:37

MS - sending you enormous hugs! Am so sorry you're going through such a hard time and having to make a horrible decision. It is definitely worth checking out the alternative meds suggested on your other thread if you want to continue BFing F for as long as he wants it. I had to move Danny to bottles of formula during the day last month as cant express while I'm at work so am happy to give you suggestions on how to get him used to the bottle/do the transition if you decide you have to move to ff. Hope you dont have to give up bfing before you and F are ready though

THOM - wow, DS1 at school. Did you feel tearful on his first day? DS1 was also mostly on milk and not taking in much solids until he was around 9 months.

OP posts:
thehouseofmirth · 17/09/2009 20:34

Dinky I was fine, no tears from anyone! I think it really helps that he has been in the nursery class at school and that the nursery & reception children are encouraged to mix so he already knew the classroom and teachers really well. Having Mr T to distract me is also good. Because he's a July baby DS1 is only attending for the morning until half term. I may be a bit more teary when he's there all day.

Sheer nosiness here but just wondering why you are unable to express at work? I thought employers were legally obliged to provide time & facilities for mothers to do this?

MamaGoose · 17/09/2009 22:03

Hello fab febbers

Have just been catching up on the thread. I'd quite like the next installment from lbb on the affair couple at work!

Hope it went ok at work dinky. I also went back this week. Only part-time but I am exhausted!! It's amazing how quickly it feels as if you were never away! I'm still trying to BF but realising that it's not really working and maybe I need to give up the daytime feed although Ind's hasn't yet taken a bottle.

Scoffed at coco's textbook quote - written by a man or a woman without children clearly!

Hello to mumoverseas - my fellow international mum. We did basic games at our parties for our boys when they were 3. Lots of running around first then a few games to settle them a bit before the birthday tea. Musical bumps ok for that age, and pass the parcel with a prize at every wrapper of course.

Right now have to go and clear the house....thank goodness it's a mummy day for me tomorrow.

herbgarden · 17/09/2009 22:04

Hello everyone - sorry I've been a bit remiss in posting recently - I went back to work in August and it's all gone by in a flash ( I think I posted just after I started).

Have no chance of catching up properly but sounds like some of your babies are up and on the move - you have my sympathy - keep them in one spot for as long as possible please !!!....

DD is doing ok - lots of snot since starting nursery and she has 8 teeth - two of which the nursery girls told me had come through one Monday when she was in (!?) - so that explained her grizzles. She's eating like a demon and enjoying Mummy's home cooked food - but if she's anything like her brother she'll start to be a pain in the arse in a month or so on the food front. I should have more faith shouldn't I. She's sitting up with the odd wobble when she goes over and has real ants in her pants so won't sit still on your lap anymore - she loves her static walker thing (as do I !).

DS is being a bit trying at the moment and has us all in tears at teatime. I think it's attention but he's also started pre-school for a couple of mornings a week too so I think he's feeling a bit unsettled. He goes in a bit tentatively but comes out all excited and full of it. I can't believe my baby will be going to school next year. Where has that time gone.

Anyway....will try to catch up properly soon.

MS sorry I'm the last person to ask so can't offer any advice on the b/f to bottle. On the bottle making up - I'm afraid I don't follow guidelines. I make up ssterilised bottles of boiled and cooled water daily and add formula to it when I need it. I know what they say but I've done this with DS and now with DD. DD is now on a bottle morning and evening and has a small bottle just after lunch.....

littleboyblue · 18/09/2009 06:04

Hey MamaGoose Good to 'see' you. Well, re affair people. they all left out of sheer embarrassment I should think, so God knows what's happening now. I did see the copper the other day in town but didn't talk to him. Apparently the wife has done this sort of thing before, which is a shame because the husband is so nice, but I suppose you don't know what goes on behind closed doors!
Everyone keeps asking me if I know the real reason they left and I'm itching to tell, but I promised I'd keep the secret (I've told you guys and dp, but that doesn't count)
Herb hello. Sounds like it's all going well there, apart from ds at dinner time. My ds1 is a bit trying at that time too, but I've worked out it's not half as bad if I just ignore him!

Ds1 came running into our room crying at 5:30 this morning, so we got up . He also came in twice last night so had to put him back to bed. Rough night really. I have also put loads of conkers around the house in the hope it would keep the giant spiders away, seems to work, but now have a couple of flies. Kept waking last night hearing the buzzing so spent some time chasing 2 round with the fly spray.

Have a busy day today. We have play group 9:30-11:30, then toddler peep (really structured session for them) 12:00-1:30, then have to go into town to pay council tax and gas bill.
But it's pay-day Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

littleboyblue · 18/09/2009 06:15

Also, Luke had kiwi after his dinner last night and an hour later, had an angry red rash over his whole body, so will keep him away from that from now too. He's had it before, but maybe it's a trigger.

PolkSaladLucie · 18/09/2009 08:43

MS - you poor love. I now exactly how you feel. I am still getting over my issues with bf/ff now - 6 months later! but 7.5 months is a massive time compared to some, and you've given F a great booby time, so please, now think about your own health.

I'm with herby on the bottle thing. The formula is not sterile, so you can't make up the whole bottle in advance, but we have 4/5 made up with boiled water which then cools to room temp on the sideboard. Then when she's due a feed we warm it and add the formula. As you've been bf, I guess it's been a demand thing, and I can't imagine F will wait for 40-odd minutes while you boil the kettle, let the water cool etc.
We have 6 bottles, which does us ok, and we use these bottles, they are similar to doc brown's, but have a better teat for bf babies. We use this sterilisor, which can go in the microwave or use milton tablets (handy for travelling) and because I'm a tommee tippee whore, we have the bottle warmer (but hot water in a bowl does the trick) and a few thermal bags for out and about). We also have a few powder dispensors. So make sure you go shopping at Boots and then buy ourself some perfume with all those points!
As M is now only having 4 bottles a day, we could lend you two bottles to see how you get on with them?

PolkSaladLucie · 18/09/2009 08:45

Sorry, fogot to say hi to you all, but must dash, as I'm hideously late for work...

MarkStretch · 18/09/2009 09:37

Hi all

Thanks for all your help. I have agonised and deliberated and decided that I will give up, after all Frank is such a good eater and is in now way undernourished and I have fed him for this long and I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO BEAT MYSELF UP ABOUT IT ANYMORE!

Afterall what will it achieve?

He is more than happy to drink formula out of a sippy cup which is helpful as he is still a bit bemused about the bottles. He tends to just chew them. PSL- I got the Tommee Tippee Closer to nature bottles and some fast flow teats so hopefully more will some out and he will get the idea.

I am lucky in that F is easily comforted by DH as well as me so he is going to do the night time rocking/feeding etc. The only time I am really worried about is in the middle of the night. I know he doesn't need any milk but it has been so easy just to put him in the bed, stick him on the boob and then we all get some sleep. What the hell am I gonna do now?!

MarkStretch · 18/09/2009 09:39

Thom- how was DS1?
