Hi Brett - so it's YOU that lives in Warwick! We were on about a midlands meet-up and I knew someone lived there but couldn't think who!

I usually take the mini-pill (Noriday) and my periods were very light and short on them - hope they suit you too

brettgirl2 · 05/07/2009 22:51

I'm on micronor - I'm not yet sold. But at least right now I only have a period 50% of the time rather than 75% of the time on cerazette. I'm not sure it's helping my hormonalness either.

Where do you live Surprise? A midlands meet would be good.

surprisenumber3 · 05/07/2009 22:54

When I first started taking mini-pill, I felt like I had bad PMT emotion-wise for a while but it soon got better.

I'm inbetween Birmingham and Kidderminster
Not far from beginning of M42

brettgirl2 · 05/07/2009 23:00

That's quite easy, I'll go anywhere I can actually drive to .

Who else is in this kind of area? I remember it being vaguely mentioned a couple of weeks ago. It would be nice to meet some people properly, I generally prefer real to virtual life!

surprisenumber3 · 05/07/2009 23:08

Springy and Juw are from here originally but obviously have moved away now but said they would come - BB I think also visits someone in Coventry so would be nice if she could come. I'll also go anywhere I can drive to. I know Warwick and Leamington really well so would be happy to travel there.

And anyone else who can travel to the area!

brettgirl2 · 05/07/2009 23:17

I thought Juw went to college in the midlands rather than being an actual 'native'. There are a couple of others though, because I seem to remember when we were still pg reflecting on our misspent youth in various of Birmingham's least salubrious night spots.

Warwick or Leam would suit me fine, but I am willing to travel further than that .

surprisenumber3 · 05/07/2009 23:21

She went to school/college right where I live now Yes, I remember that conversation too!

Maybe Birmingham would be a good place to meet, although I am not sure of any parks etc round there (apart from Canon Hill Park??), maybe Springy would know? ((calls for Springy)) There is a nice park in Leam too isn't there.

Must go to bed now but anyone who can visit the Midlands give us a shout and lets see what we can do!

Juwesm · 06/07/2009 08:26

I am up! Already I have been up since 7.30am! I think this is the earliest I've been up since I had Hugo! I am also feeling excessively active (for me) and have already emptied dishwasher, made DH and I breakfast, and put dishwasher on to wash itself with vinegar and lemon. This is more than than I usually do in a week

Stourbridge (well, Brierley Hill) born and bred!
I was thinking Canon Hill Park also (though could not remember name!). Don't even know where Leamington is

How is everyone feeling today?

BoffinMum · 06/07/2009 08:30

My baby sleeps!! At last!!

8.30pm until 6.30am. That is what Felix managed last night.

11.30 until 5.30am. That is what Boff managed. I had one ear cocked in case of feeding requirements.

Now all we have to do is reconcile the two ...

Bicnod · 06/07/2009 08:43

Omigod. I'm so so soooooo jealous... Oscar slept not at all last night. Up at 11pm, 2.20am, 4.30am, 6am. I am like a walking zombie

Schulte · 06/07/2009 08:47

Congratulations Boff

Not that much sleep here, H shuffled a LOT in her sleep so I had to emigrate to the sofa bed. I think she's going through some sort of mental development spurt at the moment, she's been a bit more difficult and clingy and not sleeping that soundly. She also seems to develop some new skills e.g. grabbing things, rolling etc. I have a book that says this is what happens at around 11-12 weeks, so would be interesting to hear if others here are experiencing it as well?

Bicnod · 06/07/2009 08:54

Schulte - Oscar is just over 10 weeks and is much much more clingy than usual... and he's just started rolling (from side to side, not right over) and grabbing things as well. He's also just started doing really girly screams and shouting which is hilarious - I swear he shouted 'no, luke' the other day (DH's name)

Does anyone else's baby have terrible wind? oscar wakes himself up beetling round his crib grunting loudly and straining to fart, then does massive old tramp farts (which I always think MUST have filled his nappy, but when I check, nothing). I always wind him after feeds - I'm wondering if I should keep him upright for 10 minutes or so before putting him down even if he's asleep.

Boff, how did you get Felix to sleep so well?! I'd love some tips...

Swaliswan · 06/07/2009 09:08

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
someone find me some earplugs or a gag for DD1

Swaliswan · 06/07/2009 09:21

Schulte, have you been reading the Wonder Weeks book?

Schulte · 06/07/2009 09:35

Yes, that's the one! Had to look it up because I have the German version. I found it was pretty spot on with dd1.

BoffinMum · 06/07/2009 09:50

LOL Swali!

What I did:

  1. Texted Any Question Answered to ask for advice, after assuming on here that all the other babies were sleeping better than mine!! They said to put the baby into the cot while he was still awake and only give water in the night. I ignored the last bit of advice because I thought this was only appropriate for babies older than 6 months. But I did start putting Felix to bed at about the same time as the others, 8.30-ish, in his cot in the nursery.
  1. I gave him a dream feed at about 11 when I went to bed for a few nights, but the last two days he hardly had anything and it was clear that it was more for the sake of form! So I stopped that last night.
  1. I also invested in a gro bag because I was getting up every hour or two to tuck him in.

However I think it also has a lot to do with general size and development.

BoffinMum · 06/07/2009 09:52

Bicnod, he plays with his hands a lot and he is really trying to roll over so I am having to be very careful about leaving him on beds.

mathshoneybunny27 · 06/07/2009 10:04

Thanks Boff. At the moment Oscar's in with us in a crib - maybe I need to think about moving him into his cot in his own room - but I'm so irrationally scared about SIDS... and also there's a little bit of me that doesn't want to move him yet as it will be the end of another bit of babyness

We put him to bed at 7.30/8.00pm - he doesn't last any later than that. Sometimes he'll sleep through til about midnight or 1am at the very latest but recently he's been waking up again at 10.30 or 11.00pm

He's HUGE (nearly 15lb at 10 weeks) - but maybe he's just not ready yet.

We've used a gro bag since he was about 3 weeks old as he was fighting to get out of his swaddling.

He's NEARLY found his thumb - he gets it in his mouth about 1 in 5 attempts... hopefully once he's mastered that he might be able to comfort himself if he wakes up.

ARRRRRRRRRGHHH - I'm so damn tired! I haven't slept more than 3 hours in a row since he was born... but I'm hanging on to the thought that surely one day this will pass...

Mathshoney - sorry for your troubles I don't have any advice to offer as no experience of toddlers yet but just wanted to send my sympathies (particularly in the sleep deprivation department!)

Juw - you have inspired me. Today I intend to not leave the house once and sleep whenever Oscar sleeps. I have had a shower but I'm wearing some huge baggy purple wraparound trousers that I bought when travelling in Thailand in another life - pretty much the same as PJs. Hurrah

Bicnod · 06/07/2009 10:39

Just realised that was 3 sad faces and only 1 happy one. How very dramatic.

hope that makes up for my unnecessary misery...

mathshoneybunny27 · 06/07/2009 10:43

phew good morning! lots of love to you all, am struggling a bit here for the first time really so shouldn't complain. Little A does sleep pretty well though..down at 7 or 8 and then usually feeds sometime between 4 and 5.30. I put this almost completely down to temperament though, along with some nifty swaddling. Although she is outgrowing her miracel balnket atm and my pitiful attempt to make one ( it looks so easy) is not going well..

Schulte · 06/07/2009 11:02

Hmm Bicnod sorry to hear about your lack of sleep. Really don't know, I think some babies just take a bit longer. As long as you do the obvious things i.e. no playing during the night, regular feeds during the day to make sure he's nice and full by the time he goes to bed, and teaching him to fall asleep on his own, I don't know what else to suggest. With DD1 I did find that her sleep improved once she was in her own room. Can you move him a little further away from you but still keep him close enough? We just left all doors open when we moved DD1, so I could still hear her but not so loudly!

MM, I have no advice re. your DD1 I am afraid, as my DD1 is younger. Hope some more experienced mums come along though and can help.

Well I have done the lazy thing, no jams or homemade ice creams here, I have simply frozen some of the berries and am now munching my way through two punnets of cherries. While spending money that I don't have on a sandpit for DD1.

Juwesm · 06/07/2009 11:03

For anyone who is feeling down, I really can't recommend a piece of cake strongly enough. Even if all the fruit has sunk to the bottom, as mine has!

Keep trying to take photos of H smiling, but every time I point the camera at him, he puts on his serious face in order to examine this object being poked in his face.
