Puree - don't be sorry hun, I'm very pleased for you but just feeling a little sorry for myself that's all. May just lurk for a while...

pureeandpearls · 02/07/2009 21:55

Suffering from the same thing myself Sponge- know that you wouldn't wish to upset anyone!!!

Amber- if I say I know how you feel, I'm not trying to piss you off.

Night

IKEA can do that to a person Debs! Sorry Ethan is not well.

Puree, you weren't unsubtle you daft thing! You know as much as anyone how upsetting news of PGs can be but it's happened for you and that is great news. You don't have to apologise for it

AliPalli · 02/07/2009 22:53

Neenz I know exactly what you mean about watching people fall in love on TV. Thought it was just me. Just heard from my friend and nothing happened with the bloke last night. He has sent her nice texts though. I can't tell if she is interested or not. A bloke she had been seeing for a few weeks dumped her at the weekend and she was upset about it, so probably not the right time. It is a nice morale boost to be fancied though.

Deb poor Ethan. What is wrong with him? Hope it isn't P's snotathon. Sorry if it is. You have my full sympathy on the IKEA kitchen experience. I think I told you my morning sickness and IKEA kitchen buying experience last week.

Wowzers on the sunburn PP. You better take care if you ever move to NZ.

After 4 hours sleep last night, I am signing off.

DebInAustria · 03/07/2009 08:00

Morning, rough night here, Ethan still has a temp, and cough (no snot yet Ali) and medised doesn't have the required effect on him - made him hyper instead of sleepy

neenztwinz · 03/07/2009 08:18

That sucks Debs. Can you get Calpol Night? I have heard some people get results with calpol night even when medised doesn't work, even though I think they have the same ingredients . Nurofen is better for bringing a temp down and I have always found it really good when they have been unsettled so perhaps he will respond better to that. Hope you have a better night tonight!

bitofadramaqueen · 03/07/2009 08:46

Sorr to hear you had a rough night deb.

My practice cake is now in the oven, but baking and hot weather do not go well together! I'm melting already!

pureeandpearls · 03/07/2009 10:11

BDQ- practice cake needs testers. Can you UPS some to me???

Debs- it's clearly something that's going around the thread (who knew we could catch stuff from each other?) But it does suck. I hope he feels better soon so that you can get some sleep.

Only if you send your inflatable pool by return

Am very pleased because cake looks ok so far and I ordered a dress from Boden to wear at s's BBQ on a whim after reading about it on here and it fits perfectly. Yay. I'm also going to wear it at a wedding next month so two traumatic outfits sorted with one dress, yay! Still finding shopping for my post baby body very difficult so this is a real result for me.

PiggyPenguin · 03/07/2009 11:15

J is poorly today too, obviously a june baby bug going around.

Amber realised after posting yesterday that my post to you had a bit of a 'just relax and it will happen' feel to it which I know is really annoying and so thought I'd apologise for that. I was trying to be supportive not patronising, honest! It is sh1t ttc and hearing other people's news.

DebInAustria · 03/07/2009 12:45

Been to the Drs, Ethan has bronchitis , he won't eat anything, won't drink from his cup so just as well that I'm still feeding him, I feel like he is draining every last drop from me, I'll be collapsing in bed tonight like a deflated balloon!!

bitofadramaqueen · 03/07/2009 13:24

Oh what a shame deb, the poor wee mite. I hope it doesn't take too long for him to get over it.

We finally have stairgates up - we went for the top of the stairs and the kitchen. Will just keep an eye on things to see if we need one at the bottom of the stairs. We got a handy man in to do that and loads of other jobs. Spent £180 on things that we really could have done ourselves but finding the 7 hours to do the work was impossible! All done to a much higher standard than we'd have done the jobs too.

DebInAustria · 03/07/2009 18:00

Thanks BDQ, how's the cake? Sounds like £180 well spent.

Ethan slept for another 2 hours this afternoon, woke up, then half slept on dh for another hour, temp went up again, managed to get him dosed up, then he has had 1 biscuit and a little yoghurt, oh yes and a pea and half a cherry! So atm he's livened up , hope it continues.

Did Essie go to Wimbledon today, we're watching on German TV with English commentary on the computer.

PenguinProject · 03/07/2009 19:09

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies, must be really tough in this weather.

Yes - Essie sent me a photo of herself on Murray Mound / Henman Hill this morning. I don't know if she meant to show off or if it was sent to me accidentally... (My RL name begins with an A, so being first in most peoples mobiles means I get sent lots of stuff when people text too quickly ).

Gutted about Murray - it was a great match though.

London Mums - I have some free VIP tickets to the 10 years younger show at Earls Court this weekend if anyone is interested? Not that I'm suggesting anyone needs to look 10 years younger... PP waddles off to take her flipper out of her beak.

Back to catch up properly later.

bitofadramaqueen · 03/07/2009 20:45

The cake turned out not too bad thanks deb. Decorating it was a challenge but I think I'll be able to manage an ok job for the real thing. My buttercream icing was a bit sugary so I think I need to beat it for longer next time.

Right I need to go make a shopping list for the weekend's festivities. Sorry for not saying hello to anyone else!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/07/2009 20:46

Photos of salmon on FB

bitofadramaqueen · 04/07/2009 07:52

Argh, minor cake related disaster. Got up with the larks to bake the actual bday cake, planned to ice it tonight, but realised (after I'd started) that I had the wrong type of golden sugar. Got S's first hair appt this morning then to a BBQ about an hour's drive from here so will need to bake the cake tonight then ice it in the morning just before the party. Along with the other 1001 things I have to do. Grrrr.

Morning all! Apologies for grumble but had to get it off my chest! What are everyone else's plans for the weekend? Viva and whinegums - what birthday plans your end?

pureeandpearls · 04/07/2009 08:37

BDQ- wrong sugar not usually a massive deal- mae with what you have if it means less stress. Good luck!!

Off to a wedding today and DH work summer party tomorrow so see you all on Sunday.

Five- are you not my friend? Can someone who is Five's friend suggest her to me???? Desperate to see Salmon!

OP posts:
DebInAustria · 04/07/2009 08:57

BDQ - hope the cake goes OK

Puree have a lovely weekend

Still raining here....Ethan still poorly too

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/07/2009 10:24

PP go to deb or neenz or spongebob or amber, I am the one with the sheep as the profile.

Hope everyones weekends go well, we are off to Librlady's for Lukes birthday party today and then back here and over the road for a July 4th party hosted by the american officer based here, then friends over for a bbq tomorrow.

neenztwinz · 04/07/2009 13:51

BDQ, grr about the cake! And you were so organised too doing a practise run too. I also think it was money well spent on the handyman esp if he did a better job.

Salmon looks good! Very big - no wonder you had to do it in the dishwasher. Could you have washed pots in the bottom rack at same time? I would have been so annoyed to waste the wash! I get so mad at DH when he puts the dishwasher on just cos the bottom rack is full even if the top is not - then he fills the sink to wash up , when all that is needed is to re-arrange eg put bowls on top rack so more big plates can go in and move stuff around so pans can go in.

PIL rant! DH has gone on a church trip today on the train but his car is in garage so he asked MIL to come and pick him up to take him to the station. PILs have a couple visiting from Scotland this weekend, not anyone I have met before. Anyway MIL agreed to take him, so when there was a knock on the door at 9.30 I thought oh that will be MIL, so I answered and it was MIL - with FIL and their visitors too! I was still in my pyjamas, the kids had no clothes on and I had not tidied up! I was so annoyed. My face must have been a picture cos MIL said 'oh sorry should we have rung first to say we were coming'. Well usually I would say 'oh no it's fine' [keep the peace] but I could not contain myself and said 'yes you should!' This is a bugbear of mine cos they always turn up unannounced and I just consider that to be so rude - I would never just turn up at someone's house without ringing first to check it is OK. I mean even if it is just 10 mins notice that is fine, they have mobiles so there is no excuse. But to just turn up, it really annoys me and there is no need for it. My mum lives next door to my sis but she never goes round there without ringing first to check it's OK. It is just common courtesy IMO. I like to know when people are coming so I can check the toilet is clean etc . But 9.30am on a Saturday - is it not normal for people to be in a state of undress? To come and bring OTHER PEOPLE too?! I was so annoyed, it took me about an hour to calm down! Anyway I have told DH this is an opportune time to tell them I don't like it when they come round without ringing first. Grr!

PiggyPenguin · 04/07/2009 15:05

Neenz I hate that too, but only because my house is always really untidy! My parents brought my db, sil and nephew around last weekend (they live 100 miles away, we didn't know they were around) without ringing and the house was a tip. But waht really annoyed me was that dh had had a vasectomy the day before and they all sat on the sofa while he hobbled round making tea When I got back and saw what was going on I told my mum off for making him get off the sofa where he was meant to be resting.

J has a really high temp. He was steaming during the night and has refused to eat for two days. Then dh took him to the shops so he would fall asleep in the car and he came home with chocolate all over his face! Apparently he 'looked' like he might eat a bit of chocolate so dh got him a pack of buttons and he wolfed it. I suppose it is better than nothing

AliPalli · 04/07/2009 16:01

Sybil & Deb sorry that the babies are poorly .

Neenz you still sound very vexed with PILs . Sounds like a good time to get DH to clear it up with them for the future.

No news here. Quiet day at home. I have actually done some cleaning for the first time all week. It has been so hot, and I have been too lazy. The house had got to crisis point. I am now feeling happier living in a little less grime. I could do with less clutter. We need to institute some kind of new storage scheme for Pete's stuff. It just seems to be leaking out of every cupboard and drawer.

We have the family summit BBQ tomorrow. This is all of my Dad's side of the family. James is never keen, but despite this has offered to make a chocolate cheesecake. He has been googling for a recipe he made a few years ago, but can't find it. In the end it looks like his preferred recipe has come from Mumsnet (of couse).

Deb is it still raining? DH is still following Muhlbach weather via his iPhone. Apparently it will be partly sunny on Thursday.

Have nice afternoon's everyone.

vivaGlasvegas · 04/07/2009 16:16

sybil sorry J is poorly, but had to laugh at 'looking like he might eat a packet of chocolate buttons!' I think I myself often have that look!

Birthday plans here are a wee tea party tomorrow afternoon with my parents and the PILs plus C's godparents and some friends who recently moved away but are back for the weekend. Mum has made a cake, and our family friend who is a fiend with cake decoration has done that bit (god knows how she finds time, she has 18 month old twins!). I'm making sandwiches, this is about my level of culinary genius.

We're going to take C to her great grandparents on her actual birthday on Monday.

Essie bunting is coming along nicely, but have hit a sewing machine glitch, I am hoping my Mum can fix it this afternoon...

Neenz they sound a PITA, we tend to get about 20 minutes warning of a visit from the ILs, given that they live about 1.5 h away you'd think more notice would be possible! (they don't come often though, about 2 times a year!)

neenztwinz · 04/07/2009 18:01

Sybil lol at 'looked like he might eat Buttons' and you were right to tell off your mum! It's as if they forget what it was like when they were young. DH is really annoyed at his parents for this morning - bringing their mates round at 9.30am with no notice , but he says they love it when people turn up at theirs unannounced, they love to play the host, so I suppose they just assume everyone else feels the same way. Perhaps they think I might say no don't come, sounds like it might be the same for you, Viva, cos if they are only 20mins away you can't say no!

Hope J feels better soon Sybil, E was sick and wouldn't eat anything last week but is making up for it now . It lasted about five days.
