pistachio - same here as aubergenie. DH has managed twice to put ds to bed with EBM when I've had to go out at bedtime. Q doesn't usually take a bottle, but I gave him a good feed before I left and then he had a bit of the EBM, enough to suck and feel sleepy when DH put him to bed. All was absolutely fine.

star6 · 17/06/2009 08:04

and speaking of teaching, rachieW and aubergenie - TODAY is our last day of school!!! Summer Holidays! Yeah! I actually have to be here tomorrow and friday for staff days, but I can have Q around some of the time. Next week starts Q and mommy every day! Yay!
I'm so thankful that I work in an american/international school as DH is in school until 23rd July . I would not be able to handle being in school in July!! Never ever have done that!

aubergenie · 17/06/2009 08:30

Star - fantastic!! You deserve a lovely long holiday. I bet you're so pleased. When do you go back?

Actually Star, or anyone else who leaves EBM during the day while they're at work - How much do you normally leave? I'll be gone from about 7.30 till 5.30 -6 pm. I think I'm going to really struggle to express enough as I don't seem to do that well expressing at the moment.

RachieW · 17/06/2009 09:06

Yay for holidays Star! Do you get extra long holidays in your school or do you have to go back before Sept? If it's extra long maybe I should look into it...13 weeks holiday isn't enough

Aubergenie- Nursery was full on but fun too. I'm really glad not to have the marking as by the time I'd bathed, fed put ds to bed on monday and tidied up dinner stuff etc it was nearly 9pm. The thought of starting marking then would be horrible. I guess I'd just have to be more organised at work and not spend all my time after school chatting . I taught year 4 for the last two years, they were a nice age to teach. I still have a load of resources on my computer so if you're ever looking for anything let me know and I might be able to help Do you get on well with the other half of your jobshare?

Marthasmama · 17/06/2009 09:21

Morning ladies, just a quick question. Can your periods come back then go away again when bfing? I know they stay irregular at first but mine seemed to have settled down and now my period is about two weeks late. It's not that, before you all jump to conclusions. It wouldn't be possible. I could be the massive cyst (which is about the size of a six month gestation pregnancy now!) as they can mess your periods up. Cheers girls.....

Star - Yay for holidays!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/06/2009 10:01

Mine settled back after dd, but would sometimes take much longer to arrive if she had been teething and therefore feeding a lot more MM.

Yay for last teaching day star .

Another yay for weight gain Ekka. Still can't believe you're having him weighed so often though! Have lovely holiday (it's tomorrow you go isn't it?). Will you have any internet access whilst you're away?

OP posts:
aubergenie · 17/06/2009 11:05

I've only had one period so far but am definitely gearing up for another one, bang on time. I'm quite surprised, as Ithought they might be erratic to start off with. Think I might start doing those ovulation test thingies next month to check things are working ok, as I can't hang around if we're going to TTC another one.

MM- Is your cyst painful? When is your appointment, it's soon isn't it?

Rachie - I do get on with my job share partner fortunately. She rang me today, and I think she's quite pleased we'll be working together. Thanks for the offer of resources - I may well take you up on that, as I want to make things as easy as possible. The year 4 syllabus is quite fun isn't it? I think they really enjoyed the Tudors and went on a trip to the tower of London this year. My mum taught for years across the ages, running a nursery school before she retired and she really loved it. Did you ask for nursery or did they just give it to you?

RachieW · 17/06/2009 11:42

Aubergenie- No I didn't ask for Nursery..it was given to me as a welcome back present Actually after getting over the initial shock I'm very pleased to be teaching this age group. I've not been teaching very long, this is my third year, so I want to try all ages like your mum did. I really enjoyed the Year 4 syllabus, especially Tudors as did my classes. We did lots of trips to Greenwich as it is so close to us. I also read quite a few of Terry Deary's Tudor Tales which are really gruesome, my classes loved them . There's one called The Prince, The Cook and the Cunning King, which describes in great detail how Henry VII looked with seeping bandages round his fat legs...this was a real hit and seemed to be the thing they rememembered most from the whole topic

MM- Don't have any answers to help with the periods I'm afraid. Mine came back about 5 weeks after having J despite me bf and have been on thier own crazy cycle ever since.

Ekka- Have a great holiday

Ekka · 17/06/2009 11:43

Hmm sorry you're feeling down. I hope the ADs make a difference but don't affect Poppy...

Star great news about your holidays, it must be great to have all that time with Q to look forward to.

CSWS yes it tomorrow we leave, so its chaos here & I have loads of lists of things to pack & do! We will have access to MILs computer but I don't know how often I'll get to use it, so I may have to go without mn for 2 weeks . Tbh, I don't really know why I go to get M weighed so often except that I quite like to have the record of his 1st year like I did with dd & he may be my last (I hope not, but not sure I can persuade dh to have more).

No periods here yet, but with dd they came back at 5.5 mths when we went to Canada, not sure whether it was the effect of the trip, but am prepared just in case!

I did a stupid thing this morning. I wiped dd's hands after breakfast cos they were milky, then I rinsed the cloth & wiped M's face & hands. He went bright red & itchy where I'd wiped him - I'm really with myself that I didn't use a separate cloth.

MM - sorry, i've not had period since dec 2007 either. This is good for me as i always get massive migraine with af so i hope af stays away longer. When are you due to see your consultant about the cyst? I would be banging their door down if i were you but then i'm a bolshy old cow anyway

Ekka - how annoying with the cloth thing - i don't know how to manage to cope with such a strong reaction..how long does the reaction take to fade away?? have a good holiday anyway...

HMM - sorry you are feeling so lousy and that your go bombarded you with info. Hope poppy's sickness doesn't return - is there any dairy or dodgy ingredients in the ad?? Which ones are you taking btw??

Myjob - well done with the sleeping thing and putting them down together - that deserves an award....

how are the night terrors going?

Day off today and back tomorrow. DS1 much better and feeling less embarassed by his spots which are healing nicely. He has two massive ones on his forehead which i know will scar . Joe showing no signs of cp yet [touch wood emoticon] but gp reckons bf will be protecting him a bit and may only get it mildly...

i only had one period before catching again ladies so be careful it is possible

loulou33 · 17/06/2009 15:12

Hi Bethoo - i am in no doubt its possible - you are living proof , although i think i might need to be having sex more often (although not as often as you, too exhausting) if i was really trying to get pg, which i'm definitely not btw....phew!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/06/2009 15:53

Have spent 50 mins so far trying to get ds down for a nap which he desperately needs (last woke at 11am), but when he's not latched on and sucking he is hysterical. Tried to give him nurofen but he spat about 98% of it back out. Am at a total loss. Taking him for a drive is the only other way I can think of to get him to sleep, but I really don't want to do this. I hate teething!

I had to take him for a drive in the end, which meant that he went to sleep 1 hr 10 mins after we first tried to put him down. He slept for about 45 mins then I think. Was dreading the same sort of performance at bedtime, but thankfully he wasn't too bad.

Wow at 8/9 teeth pistachio. Mind you, I know another baby in RL who got his first teeth at 4 months, and had 8 by 7 months iirc, but still just has those 8 at 10 or 11 months.

Realised today that the reason that ds seems so heavy to carry around all the time is because dd was lighter than he is when she was already walking!

We can't find my rose and rebellion carrier anywhere, and are worried that we might have lost it .

Pistachio 9 teeth wow!! that is an amazing number of teeth for this age. O still doesn't have any, but is very unhappy and won't open his mouth so maybe something is happening.

CSWS the carrier will turn up I have had to pull all the clothed down for the lost to find 6-12 months shorts and found them in the 18-24 month bag I was not very organised when I packed them up.

No more babies here (I'm far to ancient) but I can recommend a 5 yrs gap Pistachio

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/06/2009 20:48

Spoke too soon re bedtime. He woke after 40 mins and was hysterical. Managed to get some nurofen into him and get him back off.

I don't think it will turn up hedgepig. We keep it in the car normally so that it's with us when we are out and about, so it must have either fallen out of the boot, or we took it out and left it in a supermarket trolley or something.

hedgepig · 17/06/2009 21:03

woops that was supposed to read "clothes from the loft"

Oh poo! CSWS what a pain if it is really lost. I'm pleased DS settled down for you again

I've just popped to the shop for some chocolate and I feel much better for the sugar rush here's to NOT waking a 4:30 again (for all of us not just me)'

jenwa · 17/06/2009 21:40

Hello

Yeh myjob for the bedtime routine, glad it went well.
I do put both DC to bed if DH in late. If I do then DD2 usually goes to bed first. I take her into her room and give her a bottle whilst dd1 playing upstairs then I put her to bed awake then go to DD1 to read her a story and if time a play first. They bath together although not everynight, usually every other and then dd1 plays in her PJs whilst I put dd2 to bed. When I have read a story to DD1 I check on dd2 then go back to dd1 and check on her by which time she is usually asleep, although, she often says "I'm just not tired"

rachie ok sounds a good plan, I will stay at your parents next year Ouch to the ulcers and sore throat, not nice. Hope you feeling ok.

mm Not sure if I suggested photobox, I may have gone on there but I use tescos as get points at the same time

pistachio at 9 teeth, Phoebes are slowly coming and I am expecting the bottom 2 to pop up soon, the top two look like they will me massive

Lucky here with day sleep here (touching wood) phoebe has a bottle after brekkie and goes back to bed, this am after dropping dd1 at playgroup dd2 had bottle and went to bed at 9:30 and woke up at 12:15 then back to bed at 3:30 and I woke her at 4:45. She likes her sleep like her mummy

csws oh no, I hope your carrier shows up for you

Off to work in the morning as on a course and then back in 3 weeks

aubergenie · 17/06/2009 21:45

What a pain re the R & R carrier CSWS. I hope it turns up somewhere unexpected.

We're going through teething hell here too. S has already been up once. And still no teeth.

Pistachio - I really don't want to start TTC quite so soon but I'm so bloody old I don't feel like I've got any choice really. Ideally I'd really like to give it more time, but I should at least make an attempt to see whether things are in working order.

Thanks for the Tudor book tip Rachie. I'm definitely going to check that one out.

Ekka - if you're still here, have a great holiday! We're off to Leeds for the weekend tomorrow. Not quite as exciting, but I'm looking forward to getting away for a few days.

Oh dear. Ds up again. I think I'd better crack open the calpol.
