for spink...

stripeywoollenhat · 01/06/2009 18:31

dog- i'd call it non-committal, wouldn't read anything. house owner may be in a different time zone, after all. know it's hard to wait.

so we bought a jumperoo, c is now totally overstimulated, as her cousin was also around for the afternoon. dp currently trying to calm the hysterical crying while i take a break. she was totally over excited, it was extremely cute to watch but obviously payback time comes as soon as it's time for bed... oh well.

tree, worrying about the mmr is a task for the autumn...

OP posts:
treedelivery · 01/06/2009 19:17

Non-comittal.

Sripey - You're right about Autumn, I think it's because her jabs are due this week [late] so I think about it around those times.
Hatts overstimulated here too, wont sleep, eat or be out down.

DD1 is up late again, she has cold and is on her knees. I can't get her settled cos of dd2, and dh is at GP at momnet to see about councilling. He had issues after his November redundancy, so we made appointment. After Friday, so much the better. I hope he is ok when he gets home, poor man.

So we have abandoned all attempts to achieve anything and are all crashed in our bed.

Julia Sorry about that!! I was looking at lush white wooden bunkbeds, with truckle bed for the girls for their sharing room days. No hope of those till we are financially safer - they were £1000! I sort of wish they weren't sharing as I'd love to be fluffing a room for dd2. But the playroom is grand and so we'll do sharing for a while and see how it goes.

Lets face it this kid is sleeping no where near her own room for ages yet, as she is clamped to my boob/hip at all times.

rrrayray · 01/06/2009 19:36

stripey feeling a bit responsible for over stimulation!?! Hope Dp manages to settle her.

Tree All snug in your bed sounds brilliant!!! I love it with OH, Esme and i are snug in bed. When she wakes in the morning i bring her into our bed and i sit up and feed her and chat. We have a balcony with big doors next to our bed, so the last few mornings we've had it open, the summer morning air has been divine. Long may it last.

Have checked weather forecast for Disney, 24 tomorrow, 22 Wed 21 Thurs and all Sunny. Result!!!!!

Tink Goodies for Brackens Room sound brilliant.

off to cook Salmon Risotto for dinner & then pack as lightly as possible for Disney tomorrow!!!!

London Black Cabs Oh... Quick Q... Seem to rememeber missj you used to work/live in London? We need to (well are opting for rather than tube) a black Cab from London Liv. St to St. Panc for Eurostar. Ovbiously Esme with us.... And No car seat. She will be on me in the sling??? Will they still take us??? Anyone?

Tree dd is having her third set of jabs tomorrow because they were delayed first by her cold and then by half term. I'm dreading it to be honest, she's just so much more aware now than she was with the last lot, I'm sure she's going to get really upset this time.

We are currently awaiting a scary pooing session as dd hasn't 'been' since last Friday afternoon . She seems happy enough though, if rather farty (appallingly stinky too - phew). I've been giving her tonnes of nappy free rolling around time in the hope of getting things moving, but nothing doing.

So, have managed no sugar all day, but am dreading this evening, as that's when I normally get the munchies. Just stuffed myself full of cheese and onion omelette with new potatoes and a mound of salad in the hope of being so full I couldn't contemplate eating anything else, but I fear that, as the sugar craving has absolutely nothing to do with being hungry, it just aint gonna work.

Have been through my entire wardrobe and found I definitely have nothing to wear this Friday or next Monday. I give up, I've looked at literally thousands of tops and shoes and come up with nothing except one pair of sandals from Next which they haven't got in stock for 2 weeks anyway. I really like a lot of the wedges that seem to be in but don't think I could manage 4 inch heels without breaking my neck.

moosemama · 01/06/2009 19:49

Oh and Dog agree with Tree, email was pretty non-comittal, wouldn't read into it either way.

Sorry, I'm all me, me, me as well at the moment. I seem to be having trouble holding a thought let alone remembering what everyone else is up to - vague doesn't even begin to describe it. I guess I'm just not used to being sleep deprived.

LenniEd · 01/06/2009 19:54

Jumperoo is kind of a cross between a door bouncer and an activity station. TBH DD was just as content in her door bouncer as DS is in the jumperoo - there is just more going on. I wouldn't say it was a must have but is a nice have iyswim Dog and also can't help with the house. Try not to fret though.

Stripey DS went crazy the first day we put him in the jumperoo - he calmed down the next time though. The first time it was total overstimulation, there is still hope. Hope she has settled now.

Ray Not sure about London but how are you getting to the hotel in Paris? They definitely won't take you without a car seat there - we have been refused when DD was 3mo and again when she was 18mo so must be a general rule there.

LenniEd · 01/06/2009 20:00

MM DS had his last lot of jabs at 18wks and I had the same fear but actually he was fine, better than the other two as I could distract him more easily. Sure you'll be ok too .

Don't talk to me about wardrobes though - I open mine for anything I have to look decent for and then immeadiately close it again. Not even worth trying anything on.

Yes, good old sleep deprivation. My little cling-on is still refusing his own bed from first waking onwards. Not exactly restful but I'll indulge him for now. Can't wait for 6 months and a bit of space though - although DD never moved for 7 months and even then spent more time with us than in her nursery. But then she was a difficult baby... perhaps he'll be different

rray, it's fine, we'll just put the jumperoo away a bit earlier... it's fantastic, great tip, thanks

dog, she had a look of complete wonder on her face when we put her in it first and then started bouncing like a loon. it was great. she then busied herself with batting and spinning the various bits with a look of extreme concentration on her face. absolutely gorgeous to watch. i am very glad we got it.

so it took an hour and fifteen minutes of howling this evening to put her to bed. an improvement on yesterday. maybe it'll only be an hour tomorrow...

ray Have taken the dcs in a few black cabs and its fine, you can sit them on your lap or put the buggy in the wheel chair space and keep them in that. I think the law is that in a taxi, if thier is no child seat available an infant can sit on your lap...don't quote me on that though!

Dog I wouldn't read anything either way into the email, she just sounded like she was being professional I guess.

Stripey Hope C has calmed down and that you get a good nights sleep tonight. We had a three week run of bad nights a few weeks back and it was so exhausting and relentless.

Tree I am looking for bunk beds that can be normal beds too, iyswim, but not in the £1000 bracket! Any ideas where I might find them? Think it will be sweet when DS and DD are sharing. MIL is an artist so she is going to do a funky mural at some point. Hope DH GP's appointment was fruitful and he doesn't have to wait too long to get to see a councellor.

Moose Well done with the detox, hope it goes well this evening. DS stored up three days of poo for a massive explosion this morning...which brings me to another question...how do you get poo out of fleece...can I stick it in the washing machine on a wool wash? Oh, Toast have some nice summer stuff as do Noa Noa (not sure if you can order online thorugh them...) if you are still looking for inspiration.

Spink Have you got any solutions for the early waking? DS has started waking at 5a.m. and it's killing me! DD always used to sleep til 8, but now DS is up she's up early too... Any time after 6.30am is reasonable imo !

Chef at your Uncle in laws stupid comment... some grown ups are just

Jude seems to have fallen into a routine of his own accord now, has a feed at 7a,m, nap 8.45ish-9.30ish , 10a.m. feed, 1p.m.feed, 2-4p.m. nap, 6p.m. bath with dd, feed, 7p.m. bed, 11ish dream feed, 3ish feed.... Or something like that depending on what we are up to, he's a bit of a neglected second born at times!

Am thinking of taking DD to legoland for a day (if I can face the horror) does anyone recommend it?

treedelivery · 01/06/2009 20:17

I wanna jumperoo!! But we have no door frame in my line of sight in the kitchen [my natural habitat]. Still though...

Do you think I'm mad to contemplate going on a camping/camper van trip, driving overnight on Wed, aftter the 3rd set of jabs? Or will it be hell which ever way you look at it?

I'm a bit worried she will choose these jabs to be unsettled after, and all the happy campers will be a bit at the screams from the tent!

Ray - this site is good for the law on car and travel with a baby. You are legally able to take a baby in a taxi unrestrained. Or if you have a travel system you could just put it in I guess. www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/index.htm#lawtable

Moose - hope you feel less out there soon. Maybe body missing the sugar? I felt pantaloons when I went dairy free, as it meant caffine free too. Which with the baby God sent me, not a good combo.

hongkongzoe · 01/06/2009 20:18

there not their... pregnancy brain has ruined spelling and grammar

LenniEd · 01/06/2009 20:20

Ray Just had a look out of curiousity and law says you can take an under two in a taxi without a car seat but they have to sit on your lap and not in the seatbelt. Not sure how stringent they would be in applying it (i.e. whether she could stay in sling or not)... what time of day are you travelling? If it isn't peak time then the tube might be a nicer option so long as the weather cools off a little

treedelivery · 01/06/2009 20:20

Ooooo The GP Appointment. It gets capitals as a man going to a GP, especially mine, is such a biggie.

She did the mental health screening q&a and he came up as mild depression. Not surprising and really a credit to his strength of resolve it isn't moderate.

She suggested.................guess!

Doh - that'll teach me to take so long to post. Tree and HKZ sorted out the taxi conumdrum.

Tree - I travelled the day after DS's jabs with no problems. If anything he slept longer stints which made the journey easier.

EachPeachPearMum · 01/06/2009 20:26

tree- I you... you are my motherhood guru (MLL's Thread)... how do you know just what to say/do?

moose have you done a thread in style and beauty? People are usually good at linking to suitable stuff

rray have a great trip

A big Hello to everyone else... a bit braindead this evening

treedelivery · 01/06/2009 20:26

Oh I see, I was thinking of those door frame things. I remember you all buying this now.
