PatTheHammer · 18/05/2009 11:31

OMG Dog my lil'sis used to love that song! Sorry you're feeling down . In a few more days you will be out and about as usual. When DD was about 18mo lots of her little friends had the pox and I made a point of taking her round there because I would rather she got it young. Alas! She did not get it and am now ultra paranoid as it's going round the playgroup (silly really, I know it would still be better now than at school age, think it's just because I've got the other LO to look after now). Anyway, you have done fabulously well to not go insane, especially with 2 other munchkins on the go

moosemama · 18/05/2009 12:05

Morning, it is still morning isn't it? Just sat down for the first time after the school run and Monday morning manic housework - am just stuffing my breakfast!

Tree no not me, I don't have the strength of character or stamina to be a midwife - I take my hat of to all midwives though. I reckon it is one of the hardest jobs in the world. My sister was going to train to do it but found she couldn't fund the training as she is/was a single mum.

Dog love that song - I sing it to the boys all the time when they are having 'its not fair' moments! Simply not true of course - we all thing you're great, but I understand why you feel like that - I love being at home and often choose to stay in for days, but hate it when I know I 'can't' go out for some reason. Mind you, if the weather is as bad at yours as it is at ours today you're probably better off indoors. Blimey the wind in the playground this morning - nearly had me off my feet, let alone the boys.

DD is proper poorly with this cold, poor little mite. Another bad night with lots of really snotty snuffling and crying when she couldn't breathe, then when she did get back to sleep, getting herself stuck upside down - again! (I don't have a clue how she manages it.) DH slept through the whole thing and then kept complaining that he was exhausted this morning - lucky he can move fast or I'da cuffed 'im one!

I hate not being able to do anything to help her, the snuffle baby helps a bit and we have a cloth with karvol tied onto the outside of the crib bars as well but she is still really suffering.

rrrayray · 18/05/2009 12:06

Pat Nooooo i'm not expecting Esme to WALK anytime soon... but from her efforts to get up and going when on tummy think Crawling might be a month or so away... but being a first timer i have no idea really! Shes pulling herself along on her tummy. But not very far as its obviously exhusting for her!

Tink Good luck with starting the weaning. Taking it all first time sounds impressive, must be so very different for them from Milk only. At least another 10 weeks before i have to tackle that! Bought her some Cute Sleeved Disney bibs the other day, and also a Daddy's princess one. I'm sure when the time comes its going to be mucky Buisness.

Dog Sending hugs and smiles! We all have Low days!!! xx

Yikes Dog, I'll go completely loopy if, probably when, dcs get chickenpox. I don't know how my mum dealt with me as I had everything by the age of 6, usually in other countries too (we lived in Tokyo, Paris and Beijing when she was a postgrad student, the last of those when I was 5/6), and she was a single mum. Hope your captivity doesn't last long.

juleswastink · 18/05/2009 13:25

dd1 had cp a week before xmas not great timing

dog I thought by the time their spots went crusty they were no longer contagious? Love the new pics of Isla on fb, she looks like such a relaxed and mellow baby.

ray ashamed to admit I did not express last night - ended up watching film about kid in care (the unloved, did anyone else see it?) - terribly depressing and afterwards had to go and gaze at my sleeping munchkin in love and adoration. That's my excuse anyway! But will start tonight... impressed that you are double-expressing, how do you co-ordinate that?! How much do you get each time? I can get about 3oz in ten minutes from both boobs, which doesn't strike me as much. That's with my electric pump. My SIL said she could fill a 10oz bottle in a couple of minutes!

tree I was reading that thread too, fascinating. Always amazes me how angry people can get online when they don't have to face someone.

LenniEd have fun at centreparcs; hope it stops raining for you!

Tink good luck with weaning today, I am sure she'll gulp it down.

We went swimming this morning, and LO was a bit more relaxed, but still very serious about the whole thing! Was gurgling and laughing away in the changing rooms afterwards though - they are lovely and warm. By the time we were halfway around tescos afterwards he was fast asleep... and still is now ... heavenly.

hongkongzoe · 18/05/2009 13:40

at all those sitting up/standing babes! Jude is happy lying on his back wiggling...he s really showing no interest in flipping over, let alone standing! DD was the opposite, flipping over really early and crawling at six months, she couldn't wait to get going. Jude's probably too fat to roll over! Mind you he packs a good kick...

Dog Good luck with the midwifery, I think it must be a tough/ frustrating job, but super rewarding too. The midwifes at Jude's birth were so lovely and enthusiastic, I have big admiration for them.
Don't blame you for feeling stir crazy, hopefully you're over the worst of it now.

Moose Really love that red spotty baby grow... am trying really hard not to lose my self control and click on the buy it now button.... so skint at the mo...must not buy more expensive baby clothes!

Ray Weaning is a mucky business..I used to feed DD outside so I could hose her down and the high chair! Kept on finding pureed courgette stuff in the most unlikely places. Its so sweet watching thier faces when they are trying a new taste, its a complete look of surprise and wonder.

Am a bit hungover exhausted today. had a fab night out with DP, went to a cool little pub in Borough to see his mates band play and they were excellent, kind of bluesy folk, just two guitars, no amps and amazing voices. Itwas good to spend time together, as someone was saying earlier in this thread, we also weren't planning DD and she came along when we had only just got together. But its been a great journey, its bought us really close and we're still head over heals three years on! [Cheesey vomiting emoticon] DD is ill today, not sure what's wrong, but she was really clingy all morning and asked to be put to bed at about 11, she's got a nasty cough too. Have been checking her for the pox, but no sign.

Someone was saying about potty training earlier. How do you do it so young? (I'm thinking of the fortune I could save on nappies), I thought thier bladder muscles weren't strong enough until 18 months or so...but I'm quite happy to give it a try, hmmm, perhaps I should start with DD, or could do them both at once

Was jsut checking out that crazy thread. I love AIBU, people get sooooo worked up and derogatory about opinions that differ from there own...but it makes good reading on a rainy day

hongkongzoe · 18/05/2009 13:45

Miss J Hay sounds like a plan. Its such a cool little town, book heaven and the literary festival is great. I had a good friend who lived in Bronlys, so we used to go and stay with him and drink far too much enjoy the literary delights at the festival! Hooray for the swimming...it knackers them out!

missjackson · 18/05/2009 14:05

I live just down the road from Bronyls - towards Crickhowell. Yes, Hay is lovely, I am gutted because it's the festival next week and I wanted to take Nye to the only event for under 2's which was some music show - but all the tickets sold out . Have had the brochure on my desk for two weeks now but still haven't booked anything though.

Your evening in borough sounds lovely; I miss London for that kind of thing.

I just started composing a message for that AIBU thread but then stopped myself posting it, not worth it!

He's still asleep, yey! How can 15 minutes of being carried around a pool wear them out so much?!

treedelivery · 18/05/2009 14:26

Will catch up soon.

Must get out of that AIBU, had a bathroom leak this am and I need to sort out the old kitchen below which is now swimming. Desktop is floating, happily laptop safetly above water level.

Hurrah!

Hatts slept in her shnuggle nest thingie [the drawer] from 1 till 6. Blooming marvellous. Another Hurrahe!

Hugs to dog.

Tricky one Dog, I wouldn't panic if he still feels well and is acting like himself. If you don't want to wait till tomorrow could your DP take him to see the out-of-hours doctor at local hospital? NHS direct can be good in my experience, they can also panic you and send you to A&E, if they did not do this then there is probably a good reason? Poor Arlo

PatTheHammer · 18/05/2009 19:15

Errrr, great my telly's just broken and DH only went out 10 minutes ago, great night on the cards then! I was hoping to catch up with my Sky plus!
