Moose - rofl at the winking bunny!

Lenni - Thank you. You are always very very welcome on my posts! It's ok now, much better than before. Colic demon has left the building! Till next time anyway. She's asleep on my chest so I am stuck here cos I dare not move. Thank Lordy for lap tops and mn!

treedelivery · 12/04/2009 23:05

Each - you sound really worried . What did the privates do for dd?

EachPAQUESPearMum · 12/04/2009 23:21

tree- have posted on your thread...

DD had helmet treatment for her plagio- she has a perfectly rounded head now.. well- as near as. Don't regret it for a minute, though it was v hhard (and expensive) at the time.

LenniEd · 12/04/2009 23:24

EPPM - We were referred for plagio here but as you said they really didn't take it very seriously. Have you tried putting some cot toys on the right side of his cot to attract his attention while he is falling asleep? I have a cat toy with a clip on it (made by Lamaze I think) which DS will stare at as he drifts off, I move that from side to side. I also wait until he is in a deep sleep and then move his head gently to the centre if he is falling asleep the same way a lot.

It's so hard though isn't it, I remember all too well the horrid feelings about it with DD and the guilt. But really, it sounds like you are doing as much as you can and far more than you would be if you hadn't had experience of it before. I was completely oblivious last time.

treedelivery · 12/04/2009 23:24

EachPaques - Our friends got that on the NHS so it is possible.

Saw your post - cheers mi dear.

Am feeling greatly cheered by my time on mn this eve, was a bit forlorn with it all today.

even in his sleep he puts his head back to the other side!
repositioning (with towels) just makes him howl [grr]

Thanks for the compliments about my sons

EPPM, I haven't been very active on ravelry but then I've not done much knitting since I finished my scarf a few months ago - it took forever. There's a lovely knitting group that meets in my local library on Saturday afternoons with a woman who teaches adults and kids how to knit - she's very patient and she's doing it for the love of it, not paid or anything. I need to go and buy yarn and choose another project.

I heard of ravelry through dutchoma - last year I lost my own baby blanket that my mum knitted for me in a burglary, a woman off my April 07 postnatal thread mentioned it to dutchoma who she knows on other threads and dutchoma not only knitted me another blanket but she came to London to deliver it in person and meet Danny and myself.

treedelivery · 13/04/2009 00:45

Love the zebra print suit elkiedee

What an amazing thing dutchoma did for you.

thanks dog - i think i prefer dressing her to dressing myself...

hope everyone is well this morning - it's horrible and grey here. but morning has been going well - c very conveniently had a long nap which allowed showering and leisurely breakfast. she is now in her bouncer playing with her ikea fish mobile. has anybody else got one of these? it's like a drug - and not just with c - her cousin was completely transfixed by it as well...

Dog glad you had a great birthday. Is Game On the old comedy series that had an agoraphobic flat mate and 'er off Eastenders in it? If so, I remember it and used to watch it every week.

I know what you mean about siblings being different, DH was skinny, white blonde and curly with piercing blue eyes and a gorgeous permanend gold suntan, his elder brother is short chubby (being polite there) and ginger with loads of freckles and his sister is gorgeous dark skinned, dark haired, dark eyed and a perfect size 6 no matter what she eats (hate her!).

treedelivery · 13/04/2009 18:09

Happy Birthday Dog!! Not sure if I said that earlier.

Had a very rough night with dd2, but she did a big poo this am so hoping for bette things tonight. We have been out all day at the foresry duck dash - but she still insisted on being held.

Am a zombie so I'm off to bed reeeeel soon. Back to work for dh tomorrow, bummer. Been nice having someone to make me a cuppa!

Evening

Had a lovely day, even though it wasn't at all how we planned it. We were supposed to be getting stuff done around the house, but had a call from an old friend who we hadn't seen for over a year. He brought his DD, who is the same age as DS2, to visit. The children instantly remembered each other and got on really well - not a cross word all day. I think his DD fell in love with DS1 tbh, what with him being a gorgeous 7 year old and her only 5 (and an absolute sweetie, I have to add)!

We all went for a'short' walk. I had DD in the moby and the smallest dog, DH has the other 2 dogs and we all sort of shared the kids. The sun was shining and we ended up walking across the fields for nearly 3 hours! The kids had a whale of a time and so did the dogs. It was lovely to see.

Am completely knackered now though!

Feel justified in scoffing some of those chocs now I've burned off all those calories!

fymmumoftwo · 13/04/2009 20:25

have you seen this - makes you feel better doesn't it???? jools oliver

stripeywoollenhat · 13/04/2009 20:47

like dog i'd appreciate advice on real nappies as i would like to give them a go. fool proof for a klutz with a very wiggly daughter... anybody..?

i think c might be having a growth spurt - she has been eating and sleeping all day, no interest in playing and is quite clingy and cranky. 12 weeks is, i guess, bang on time for this - hope it's just a day time thing....

Wow, you guys can chat! 3 pages of new thread to catch up on already! I will have proper read tomorrow but for now...

tree I can't seem to add you as a friend on facebook, not sure why? Same still with chefswife. I am probably doing something wrong.

stripey and dog I love my tots bots real nappies, but haven't tried anything else - I just thought all the colours looked cute - but actually would only buy white in future because of course you can wash at 90. No hassle at all we find - we have about 18 of them and Nye only uses them at home, so we end up doing a wash every 2 days - put it on at night and then hang in the morning. But already need to buy size 2!

LenniEd so how far apart are your 2? I can't stop thinking about the age gap and wondering which way to go - OH is all for being relaxed and seeing what happens, but quite frankly there is no way I want a little baby all over again this time next year! Ideally I would like Nye potty-trained and at nursery a few mornings a week before number 2, and be able to really enjoy having a newborn again - but I am 35 already. Hmmm....

dog good luck with salt appt tomorrow.

Ikea fish mobile sounds lovely - Nye loves mobiles. We have a great one from socialbaby.com which is black and white shapes.

Will catch up properly tomorrow - had a busy weekend spent mostly at the farm; the weather was just glorious. Hope everyone else had a lovely Easter.

elkiedee · 13/04/2009 23:08

tree and chefswife, like missjackson, I can't add you.

missj, you've got a little bit of time, hopefully. How long did it take you to conceive first time round? Don't assume though that if it was a while, it will be again - it took me 9 months first time (starting ttc, sort of, at 36 - though I did anything more than stopping avoiding getting pregnant iyswim!) and first go second time round at 38 nearly 39. Same thing happened to a friend who's slightly younger than me. Because I went back to work full time and have a good maternity leave scheme I'm able to get max enjoyment of a newborn as I don't have them both at once on my own, but my friend is finding things very tough on her own - her dh doesn't get home until about 8 pm.

LenniEd · 13/04/2009 23:56

MissJ - I am finding the age gap hard - there are 2years and 10days between them. Like you I was keen to wait longer but DH wanted them closer together. I don't think there is any ideal gap really, there are pros and cons to whatever and as Elkie said you can't guarantee anything since you don't know how long it will take to conceive. I would say try to avoid being due immeadiately after Nye's birthday though ( that was a bit stressful!!) and if you want to go back to work then maybe a smaller gap does have advantages with that. It is hard work having a 2yo with a baby though, constant screaming!! The saying "When you are good you are very very good and when you are bad you are wicked" sums up DD right now. Cute and terrible in equal measure. DD is home full time with me and I work for DH in the evenings til about 11pm usually... but am still "working" now and no end in sight yet so I have a pretty hectic existence, might be easier to cope if I had less going on. Remember pre-school/nursery vouchers though - you would be entitled to half a week of nursery by the time Nye is 3.

Nappies - foolproof ones.. Itti Bitti D'Lish for many reasons. Don't need a wrap as all in one so actually quite good value and look gorgeous, also a very good second hand market for them so you wouldn't lose much on them if you didn't get on with them. No good overnight though - I use motherease sandies boosted with all sorts overnight but tots bots are good as MissJ has recommended. Other night time nappies I like are minkis but there are loads that do the job. A lot depends on how you are drying your nappies - if you have a drier then there are more options.

Stripey - I'm wondering if D is spurting too - he's been very unsettled today and screaming when feeding like he is completely unsatisfied which he hasn't done ever before. I expressed this morning for the first time for a week or so and was blaming that but your post made the penny drop. He's fed every 1.5hrs this afternoon and I'm feeling full of milk for this time of night.
