Have got my Eyes pinned open with match sticks I'm hoping its a one off or a Growth spurt but i was up THREE times last night with Esme!!! Sniff Sniff. 12.50pm, 3.50am, and 5.30am... Boo!!! I've got FAR too used to a full nights sleep. i think now she is in her room the getting up & heading into her room is more disruptive than just picking her up and feeding in bed!

Sleepy Face And OH is away, so single mummy time!

Hi all, another mad night in baby l and. I hear ya rrrayray! Hatts up only twice between 12 and 6 but still feel wiped out. better than the 3-4 times we had been having.

books at the pregnant at one month thought

Fed up so am off, no point being miserable online when I can do it in rl

elkiedee · 02/05/2009 11:33

Tree, sorry you're miserable if you do come back online.

I'm getting very nervous about DS1's birthday picnic tomorrow - will anyone come? Will he enjoy it? And I've been planning to make a cake for him but he's expecting it now - we have to buy the ingredients this afternoon and possibly some equipment like a mixing bowl and something to carry it in!

C slept well but woke up too early for his silly night owl mum, fed lots and only started to look sleepy as it was time to get up. Which reminds me, I should offer him a feed now and then have a bath and get dressed properly. dp has taken DS1 to the toy library and singing session for the first time in weeks.

treedelivery · 02/05/2009 11:47

I is here

On the cake - what about buying a 'blank' from m&s or supermarket then going to work on it? It could be as easy as covering in frosted icing from a tub then literally coating it in 100's and 1000's, which looks ace, or buying deco bits from a cake shop or supermarket. I got a Dora Explorer set of plastic figures, coated the cake in blue frosted icing [white with drop of colouring] and same for yello and ta daaaaaa - Dora on the beach. Swiper hiding behind a plastic palm tree and it's a winner!

Was e-number fantastic!

elkiedee · 02/05/2009 11:55

Tree, I hardly cook and chocolate cake is an exception, I think I'll enjoy making and eating it once I get going. I was quite pleased with my efforts last year and it was the first time since student days. I made several cakes for friends and family then, all the same very simple recipe.

Cake will be a chocolate flavoured Victoria sponge (as always), and decoration will be buttercream icing and some extra bits of chocolate. And 2 candles I guess. I wish I had the train which decorated all the childhood birthday cakes my mum made for us...

treedelivery · 02/05/2009 11:59

Sound yum elk. Could do with some cake.

I wish you had train too, maybe get something for your ds, it will be the new heirloom cake thing. We had a big castle for dd1, with turrets and all, and bought a metalic thomas engine to chug around the bottom on a track made of icing. I love that Thomas!! She was 3 and love all that stuff.

Enjoy a bale, good relaxing stuff.

LenniEd · 02/05/2009 15:12

Does sound lovely Elk - I wish I was a better cake maker - is your recipe foolproof? If it is I'd be glad of it. I am quite a good cook but cakes are beyond me. In my previous existence I was a science teacher and can follow a recipe since it is just like doing a chemistry experiment but cakes seem to be an artform rather than a science experiment since mine are always rubbish.

Well, I've tried to catch up but failed. So much has happened that I read one page and by the time I've read the next I've forgotten everything from the page before.

We had a lovely time Dog, thanks for asking. Had a great day at the Eden project, a day on Fistral beach in Newquay and at Watergate Bay where you'd have thought you were in Italy or Spain rather than the UK it was glorious. We also went to Port Isaac, Padstow (to Rick Stein's fish and chip shop.. yum!) and Gorran Haven and apart from the odd hailstorm (!) and a wet day at the Eden Project (didn't matter since the downpour happened while we were in the Rainforest biome) we had sunshine. We've booked to go back in May next year as the place we stayed at was fab. Is well recommended on here and am so glad we tried it.

Right, best go and unpack. And I've got to go and hunt out Stripey's picture of C in her itti bittis... now what page did I read about that on??

fymmumoftwo · 02/05/2009 15:24

my brand new hoover vhd864 is fab, also got the vhv380 tumble dryer. bought both from dixons online, fitted and the old ones taken away for £600, delivered in 4 days!

my god. its burning day in the neighbourhood and everyone is burning leaves. just about choked on my run this morning. well, better put DD down for nap and get burning myself... have huge pile of leaves to get through. we are putting in veg garden on tuesday! can't wait. hope everyone's weekend is going well. ta ta

moosemama · 02/05/2009 21:46

Evening all,

Just a quickie as my curry is about to arrive.

Mad mad day, started badly with DH having a meeting with the trustee/landlord and finding out they've messed up paying in our rent two months in a row and now we are £1000 in arrears! It would come at a time when life has been so hectic we haven't been on top of the bank account wouldn't it. So it would seem we are actually much worse off than we thought we were.

On the other hand, they boys spent the day with grandma and grandpa while DH, DD and I went furniture shopping. We ended up at Ikea where we bought this wardrobe for dd so I can finally put her clothes away. We also bought this shelf to go with it. It tones quite well with the wood on her cot, even though her cot is actually oak not pine and the rest of the furniture for the room is all lloyd loom.

We actually went to look at this one but it was particleboard and fake whitewash along with being too 'grey' for the room so we had to think again.

All the other wardrobes were all a bit too modern and we wanted something that looked a bit more vintage/shabby chic. We were going to have a lovely old one off my sister to paint but wouldn't be able to get it for weeks and then would have to strip and paint it and I couldn't wait any longer to get dd's room sorted out once and for all.

Right curry is here - I'm off - back later if possible. Depending on whether my neighbour has persuaded me to look after the stray dog they found this evening until the warden's office opens again on Tuesday or not!

treedelivery · 02/05/2009 22:01

Hi people,

Have spent a fortune this week and today it went on and on - just on bits but there you go. Feeling guilty, I always look at money in term of maternity pay and weeks off before I go back to weekends, nights and bh longdays. God what a thought. Think I might have spent enough to stay off another fortnight this week

oh well, it's all so hard and tricky at the mo I have to do something to get through! Wish we look for tonight, and genuinely quite knackered now, so more than 2 hours between feeds would rock!

Leeni - Cornwall sounds amazing. I'd love to be near motorways and a bit futher south to get to stuff more easily.
I booked tickets today to Solfest in Cumbria - a full on festival for families! Have friends who went and loved it, so quess will need to sort out a tent. Apparently there is a 'baby bus' for feeding changing and napping. How lovely!

Moose - we have some shelves in the range, they are great actually. Just ideal for what you are trying to do.

Was out for ages today and totally forgot to change Hats! Her washable itti coped fine so am impressed

Had burgers from a local farm tonight, and big salad. A total departure from our usual fayre adn brill. Am making big efforts to improve our diets to help Hatt's gut heal from the effects of milk intolerance - hence spending a nations debt in independent food stores. There are market towns with 20 miles or so selling their own beef/pork/bacon etc - how to resist!!??

Am off to bed now. I hope!

treedelivery · 02/05/2009 22:53

btw - how is blocked duct Stripey?

stripeywoollenhat · 02/05/2009 23:23

duct sorted, thanks all for asking - hot compress made out of pampers and assiduous expressing did the trick. seems like it happens every couple of weeks, must be something about my physiology as think latch etc is fine. my mum says she got them a lot too when she bf.

tree, in the absence of dairy, other nice foods an absolute must. do you know if you can have sheep/goat cheeses?

lenni, cornwall sounds like it was lovely

sorry to hear about arrears, moose, and hope stray dog doesn't turn out to be a pain

we had a lovely moment this morning, c was sitting propped up on dp's thighs and she discovered her feet. it was amazing to watch - she moved her foot and then reached out and grasped it with her hand and then moved it again, and she had this little frown of concentration on her face. and then she did it with the other foot. so sweet. she also rolled over today during nappy-free time (as well as weeing thoroughly all over the rug...) so obviously the nappies really do constrict her movements...

OP posts:
treedelivery · 03/05/2009 00:01

Oh yes Moose - sorry about that crappola news. And how insesitive of me to run on about money Many apologies. Got my head up my arse this week.

Stripey - until we know if it's lactose, milk protein, or my imagination I am too worried to go near anything milky tbh. Have decided the thing sI can eat are going to have to be good. Pleased boobie sorted.

Think thats why I have had a mare of a w week - we introduced milk last weekend to test the theory and paid the price in Hatts being so uncomfortable, we all suffered, and I have been struggling really to accept it gracefully. That said I will do it cheerfully, it is what she needs and what is best for her rules, but everything else has totally pissed me off this week.

I also suspect there are some hormones going on here. Could do without that!

EachPeachPearMum · 03/05/2009 04:49

stripey- glad breast is better

hormones a bit odd here too I think. My hair has gone v greasy its v naff.

/money is an extremely sensitive issue for most people this year, isn't it? Moose I'm sorry about today's discovery- it really makes me feel physically ill when you find out something like that

chefswife · 03/05/2009 05:09

stripey at babes discovering toes... i remember when DD did that, with diaper off too, and now she can't get enough of them.

fymmumoftwo · 03/05/2009 07:14

stripey James is really funny in the bath - he sits up in a tummy tub (are they still all the rage??, they were when I had DS1, like a bucket) - and he has started putting his feet up out of the water and looking at them in amazement then putting them back over and over....

moose its awful when that happens isn't it...

washing machine and dryer are ace! 8kg wash load and 1600 spin (I'm allowed to go on as my old ones were 10 years old and cheap as chips)

treedelivery · 03/05/2009 11:34

Morning folks. How's tricks?

I'd like a tummy tub, James obviously digs his!

EPPM - I know what you mean, that sick panic feeling.

fymmumoftwo · 03/05/2009 11:45

tummy tubs are ok, but mine grow out of them quickly.... James nearly too big as he keeps standing up in it - once he's sat down he's ok but he's a big boy and nearly too squashed sitting down.

DS1 was the same...

Mind you they save a bit of water rather than using the main bath!

tinkishappy · 03/05/2009 13:31

afternoon

dog - school fete sounded good

chef - do u live in america saying about burning leaves take it it is autumn with u

mm - sorry to hear about money troubles. luv the wardrobe and shelf
