MsSparkle - poor you. You are low on energy, tak eit as easy as possible. As to the perfect child syndrom believe me - she is either...er...massaging the truth, or remembering one friday 3 weeks ago. Or over feeding the child so it conks out trying to digest

Remember, tell them yours doesn't sleep much but thats because of the baby signing in mandarin.....

Moose - it is truly pants. Especially when EVERYONE [health people, inlaws, strangers in street] seem to think it's funny, and that she will grow out of it. Will tell that to next health professional I meet in labour 'it's not doing you any harm and anyway it will be over in 18 hours'. They all seem happy to condemn H to 6 months of hell. Seems fair I think
I have heard that to squeeze an orange into warm water and give that is helpfull

elkiedee · 29/04/2009 22:40

Tree, love your suggestions to MsS

HKZ, nice to see you, the wedding plans sound like a great way to do it to me, hope it all goes well.

Sorry for everyone finding it tough.

I've been feeling a bit mopey the last few days, am trying to fight it and kick myself into doing things, but struggling a little. I keep bursting into tears. Last time, whether or not it was that, and there may have been more to it, I thought I was feeling miserable because I hadn't managed to breastfeed, this time I don't think I've got anything to feel down about. The first few weeks were very stressful because I was anxious about how I was being judged by the health service, but now, I really don't know.

Am trying to organise ds1's birthday picnic and fretting about whether anyone else will actually turn up. I did use Facebook to invite cousins I've not seen for years though, one says he'll come and his sister says she might (I hope so with her 10 month old dd) so it would be interesting to see either or both again, but it's all a bit nervewracking right now. The thing is that ds1's birthday falls around a bank holiday when lots of people like to get out of London.

EachPeachPearMum · 29/04/2009 23:18

spink thanks for link- I have been very sniffy last few days, and eyes are hurting.

Am grumpy because I appear to be ovulating! [grr] too soon for that...

DS still off colour- very unsettled all day, but has been feeding every 2 hours... growth spurt or catch up from being ill? who knows. Hadn't pooed for about 5 days... so we had a fabulous massive one... at the botanical gardens. erm I only had 1 wipe in the bag- eek! thankfully plenty of nice soft loo roll, moistened with warm water did the job.

DD had an utter melt-down at bedtime- screaming and screaming- swinging off her bed canopy, woke DS who had been trying to get to sleep for 40 minutes and managed 5 mins... throwing her cuddlies around etc. no idea what got into her!

trree why on earth do they think its funny>? it is hell, the feckers.

dog for ds- top bunk, hope its not too high.

EachPeachPearMum · 29/04/2009 23:19

and pat very sorry to hear of dd's accident- what a horrible time for your family.

chefswife · 30/04/2009 06:01

stripeywoollenhat · 30/04/2009 09:09

treedelivery · 30/04/2009 09:27

Oh nooo Stripey!!

Chefswife - great stuff!

EPPM - I know! It's the whole patronising head on one side Oh dear are you struggling to adapt to 2, she'll grow out of it, oooo mine you should have had my second, when I was in N'nam I got this wound....

Then they just titter. Grrrr.

DD1 in foul mood here too, have plonked her in fron t of tv with bowl of readybrek and thomas dvd. She's obviously feeling rough so this is no morning to go all Nigella on her.

Growth spurts all round then folks.
Elk - sorry to hear you are blue. Knackered maybe? Look out for putting yourself under piles of stress mrs, we need a limited number of sticks to beat ourself with! Picnic sounds lush though - we should come!

Hatts a wee demon last night, fed 2 hourly I'd say but no real idea. I did the get up and feed business, resulted in a baby pissing herself laughing at everything and wanting to kick her legs all night. Going back to sensory deprivation till she has a day/night clock I think! I think they start doing the cycle thing at 3-4 months so here's hoping.....

tinkishappy · 30/04/2009 09:27

hello kitty clock doesnt work

MsSparkle · 30/04/2009 10:54

Morning, only have a few minutes,

Just want to vent about my HV who is the most unorganised HV ever! I swear she doesn't know what she is doing, we have had so much trouble with her.

This morning i took Finley for his second injections. Normally the nurse does it but the hv insisted she do them. Finley gets weighed, he is 15lb 13oz () and 67.5 cm long. She was writing in his red book and then said "right, he is 8 weeks now isn't he" and i pipe up "NO, he is 15 weeks" and she looks at me a little suprised and says she thought he was having his first injections and that he was 8 weeks.

Now even i would be shocked at a 15lb 13oz baby at 8 weeks! So she goes off and gets a new set of jabs for him because she had prepared for first injections not second.

I am annoyed because his date of birth is written really big on the front of his red book and all the info is written on her computer about him so surely it would have said on her records that he has had his 1st injections and that he is 15 weeks She is so bloody useless.

And breeaath....

stripeywoollenhat · 30/04/2009 11:28

MsS even i would realise i wasn't looking at an eight week old and i have no spatial awareness whatsoever (therefore can't really judge sizes...). yep, i'd be really annoyed too

tink - boo hiss to the busted clock, can you take it back?

tree, sorry about night time high jinks - i really hate it when c wakes up during night feeds, thankfully she seems to have inherited my propensity for sleeping deeply when she finally gets there, so is usually more or less asleep when feeding at night

Well it was one year ago today, April the 30th, that i went to Asda and bought a twin pack of cheapy pregnancy tests and got a bfp! remember this thread

stripeywoollenhat · 30/04/2009 11:39

yep, this time last year i was feeling a bit tired and failing to work out why. today i am feeling a bit tired and am quite clear why...

OP posts:
stripeywoollenhat · 30/04/2009 11:43

i mean because of c, now! not pregnant again! just in case anybody thought that's what i was getting at...

Thanks everyone for the kind messages.

I hope Elizabeth has a poo soon moose tree i can't see how it's funny either. It's very distressing living with a crying baby all day.

elkiedee could it be pnd? Might be worth seeing the gp? Glad the wedding plans are going well

eachpeach that's happened to me before, you think your all organised then realise you only have 1 wipe left and why is it always when they have done a big poo?

stripey i zone out of conversations too

chef yay for the breakthrough!

I had a rubbish night. Finley was unsettled all evening, i fed him at 8.30pm and put him down. Had to get him up at 10pm to change him because he had done a big poo! That explains the unsettled behaviour.

He then woke at midnight screaming and appeared hungry. I thought a 3oz bottle would be fine just to settle him. He drained that of coarse and so i had to make him another bottle AND wait for it to cool down because i had boiled the kettle again after i made the 3oz bottle. He settled down again at about 12.30am. I couldn't sleep last night, the tablets are giving me insomnia Finley woke again at ten to 5am for a feed then i woke him at half 8 because we had to get to the surgery for his injections.

I feel sooo tired this morning. Had to walk in the rain to the surgery because our car is being repared (couldn't have been last week when the weather was lovely could it!) I have to meet my friend at a small soft paly place soon, again walk in the rain! I can't cancel because i cancelled yesterday so i could take dd to her music class. I am so tired!

Oh and the friend i am meeting is the one with the 6 week old who "sleeps through" etc. We'll see...

still no poo!

She's seemed fine in herself all day though, apart from one half hour session on her playmat when she seemed to be in pain and was crying out, she did do a big burp then though, so maybe that was it.

Been reading up online, apparently docs don't worry unless they are straining and passing hard stools or if bf haven't pooed for 7-10 days!

Sorry, no time to catch up on posts yet, so off to read now.

moosemama · 30/04/2009 20:30

Quick update - we have poo!

Still haven't managed to read today's posts.

Been shopping today and had my first Gap experience - DD now has some socks which stay on and a lovely new organic pink and white striped jacket courtesy of Grandma. (Realised today that for all her clothes the poor thing didn't have a jacket/coat that fits her ).

Right am off to eat tea, just wanted to share the poo news!

MsSparkle · 30/04/2009 20:42

books yay for the weight gain!

Glad your having a nice day dog. I am feeling abit better today thanks.

moose i am glad she has finally had a poo!

Well i met my friend this afternoon. I don't think she is having such a perfect time as she makes out. She said her dd feeds every 2 hours during the day then goes down at 9,30pm and sleeps until 6.30am. Not sure if i believe her or not? Her words were "she doesn't go four hours between feeds, more like two hours" pauses and realises what she said and quickly follows with "except at night though"

Finley has been fine day. No side effects from the jabs He is just having his feed then is going to bed. I am aiming for his bedtime to be 9pm.

stripeywoollenhat · 30/04/2009 22:58

has everyone gone to bed? very wise

moose, exceedingly pleased to hear about poo, hope small one happier now

books, also excellent news re weight gain

mssparkle, i can't believe that your friend's six week old would be able to sleep for that long without eating, that's nine hours or something. can't be right.

dog, glad you had a good day

lots of developments with c today - first shriek, first real laugh in response to my laugh and then i let her mess about naked for a while this evening and she started lifting her bum off the ground and wriggling around like a loon - obviously the nappy has been constricting her movement because she was really pleased and very keen to move. so am going to add a half an hour without the nappy tomorrow and see what she does - i think she really doesn't like clothes...

on a more miserable note, duct still blocked, feeling a bit rubbish . best go to bed.

chefswife · 30/04/2009 23:56

DH sent me to bed last as DD has me up every hour and half throughout the night for the last three weeks and i am starting to come away at the seams. i think it had more to do with wanting to watch Man U v Arsenal and i wanted to watch Lost, but whatever. he was very diligent about not checking sports stuff to make sure he didn't find out who won because he really wanted to watch it. at the grocery store, he darted down an aisle so not to see some guys face who was wearing an Arsenal shirt just in case he could tell who won. bless him. but last night, i was able to put her back in her crib after the midnight feed and she stayed there till 3.30 so it was lovely to get the bed back for a few hours. DH was so uncontrollably giddy about it. you would have thought he was 5 and it was Christmas morning. very funny. this morning, because of all the great sleep DD is getting, she happily played by herself on the floor with NUBY, (a chew ring) and cooed, so we skirted off to our bed and had sex... so lovely to have sex in our bed and not the bathroom or her bedroom floor. and to top off all the goodness the last 24 hours, DH bought me a brand new Bisell vacuum! i can't begin to explain how happy i am to get a kick ass vac! ooohhh life is good.

stripey stubborn ducts. did you ask DH to suck it a bit. DD hates the constraints of clothes and diapers and loves getting them off. the only thing she likes is the bibs, which she now lives in, because she drools sooooooo much and chews on it too.

moose gap has some really cute sundress ensembles right now that it is taking all my power not to buy the lot of it! mommy needs some clothes too.

dog a whole day of other people cooking for you! awesome. there is nothing i love more... i could love a great massage though. ah, why stop there, mani, pedi, bikini wax (at the pool the other day i noticed spider legs! good thing its just moms and 65+ doing water aerobics when i'm there) and hair done.

mssparkle i feel for you. i wonder if the change of the seasons also plays into their unsettling behaviour. DD does seem better since i changed to gluten free bread... not that great for sandwiches but makes nice toast. i hope she doesn't have a gluten intolerance, but she is back to having her one poo a day and the squirming has diminished.

as i've been typing this, i've been trying to get her to settle in her crib for afternoon nap. usually we are on our walk at this time so she is accustomed to sleeping in the stroller. only had to pop in once. now to the garden! it so lovely today.

fymmumoftwo · 01/05/2009 06:55

Ms S... Just wanted to say hope the tablets work for you.... I had to go on AD's after last baby, they do work, I found the side effects were not too bad, I just found they stopped me being both sad and happy IYSWIM? I came off them after about 5 months as I wasn't laughing at comedy shows etc....

no time to read the whole thread but

HKZ good luck with the wedding!
