Lovely to see everyone today, and thanks for tolerating my dh's lycra clad visit I was knackered by the time I got home - as was B and he promptly went to bed at 7pm just woke him now for feed and now am going to bed myself as I still feel a bit ordinary....
Have a great trip LadyT

I should not watch Silent Witness it keeps me up late and makes me cry.

Veggiemummy · 09/04/2009 00:05

Oh just realized not sure what any of the York ladies look like so when you all see a slightly agitated women walk into the Slug & lettuce with a navy blue Maclaren pushchair and a small chattering boy jump up and down waving your arms so I know it's you guys.

poisondwarf · 09/04/2009 04:13

Morning! Anyone awake? Suffering some non-baby related insomnia - the whole dwarf household is snoozing away peacefully. Have just had a snack and watched the Apprentice but still not sleepy.

Lovely to see some of you today at Hyde Park. pmk no toleration required - I thought your DH was very dashing btw, lycra or not. And who could begrudge a man bearing bubbly? He can come back anytime. Sorry I didn't make it over for a proper chinwag (again).

spot so sorry to hear about your sister. Hope T is feeling better soon. DS had something similar sounding (when he was a couple of months older than T is though) - it lasted about 2 weeks and we never got to the bottom of it despite a visit to the GP and some tests. There were no lasting effects - probably just a bug. But I would second what Effie says about the children's walk-in bit at Homerton if you are worried. We have been once or twice with DS and they are very good, and never make you feel like you are timewasting.

Veggie I took up your suggestion of Mudchute Farm yesterday. Top tip ta - much better than the Hackney one, although it did involve a couple of extremely hassly bus journeys. When we got back and DP asked DS what we'd been doing I was expecting him to regale us with tales of scary turkeys and the like but no - his reply was "We saw lots of poos, Daddy". It's not like he was even talking about animal poo at the farm either - he was talking about the dogshit under the railway bridge near our house. Honestly, I don't know why I bother!

Damn those troublesome trucks eh? My DS is also really into creating little Thomas scenarios with his trainset at the moment, but spiced up with lots of random Peppa Pig dialogue, so we have things like the carriages coming down with spots and stuff. There is a ride at Thomasland called the Troublesome Trucks actually - DS was too small to ride on it but his cousin (2.6) loved it. DP went on it and said it was pretty hardcore. Thomasland was great actually, for any of you thinking of going. We managed to go on a day with cheaper tickets and no queues though.

MoM and sugar hope you have better days today.

tilly how has DS1 been in the last couple of days? I'm sure everyone is right about it just being a little phase - also, I think I've heard that lots of DSs get to an age where they become more aware of being boys and starting to hero-worship their dads. Could be a bit of that as well.

Verso how did your meeting go?

Loads more I wanted to post but might try and get some kip now.

Enjoy the York meet-up those of you going.

Verso · 09/04/2009 05:59

Hello PD - sorry about the insomnia. Hope you got some sleep in the end. My meeting went fine thanks - but not significant enough to have missed the meet up . I thought it was going to be more important than it was. Aargh.

Am sooooo sleepwise today. I've given official notice of my date to return to work but am now panicking that DD2's sleep is getting gradually worse (if that's possible) not better. I don't know how I'm going to cope. I lost count of the number of times I was up last night . I think part of it is the bloody BIRDS outside her bedroom window. I think I'm going to have to put a CD player in her room with the white noise CD. I tried a radio but it sounds weird... like people talking underwater rather than proper white noise. (Or maybe that's just my overactive imagination!)

Speaking of which, I had the weirdest, creepiest dream last night. It was so detailed too... I could write it down. It's creeped me out a bit though!

KinderEggKayzr · 09/04/2009 06:50

Morning!!

I am going to strangle that fecking cat!!!! That is 3 nights in a row I have been woken by a yowling cat rather than a hungry baby!!!

Really looking forward to York today!!!

Verso I hope her sleep starts to improve for you. I wish we could swap for a few nights so you can get some sleep.

EffiePerine · 09/04/2009 07:03

Verso: I had some weird and vivid drams last night as well, I think it;s to do with broken sleep as you're disturbed in the middle of deep sleep so remember more.

We had a mixed night - DS2 went down OK at 7:30, woke at 12 and then 3 for feeds but then awake every hour until 6:30 when DS1 woke up as well. Not helped by DS1 doing a railway shriek in the middle of the night ... not sure what's up with him at the moment. Sooner he's in his own room the better.

pmk: hope you had a good night. Your DH was v charming (even if DS1 accused him of pinching my lunch!).

EffiePerine · 09/04/2009 07:03

Drams? I wish! Dreams.

Kaz: can you slip the cat a few sleeping pills?

tillyfernackerpants · 09/04/2009 07:03

verso as always you have my sympathies with the nights, ds2 is also getting worse!

kayz I hate the yowling cats as well, at home we also get foxes which are creepy as they really do sound like a baby in pain!

poison hope you got some sleep in the end! Thanks for the tip about Thomasland, will probably take ds1 one day! Lol at ds1

Looking forward to today, have decided I'm going to train it as its probably less hassle than trying to find somewhere to park! I hope I'm going to the right S&L, the one on Back Swinegate near the Minster?

KinderEggKayzr · 09/04/2009 07:33

Tilly It is the one on on back swinegate. It's pouring it down here so I am hoping York will be nice.

DS2 is now in 6-9 clothes!!

pmk1 · 09/04/2009 07:42

That's right Effie that was funny "That's my mummy's bread"!!
Well my cold had turned really bad over night. Was awake coughing and blowing nose all freakin night! Then to make it worse (we have this conversation every night) I asked dh to put bloody phone on vibrate after the first 1am email!!! Then, 2am, 330am - all of which he didn't hear nor did he hear me proding him to wake up... When it went off at 530 am and woke up B I came completely unstuck... made him do the lot nappy, get me medicine, sort out dog, I'm taking the phone tonight and I don't care if it's his alarm - he'll only be late for work once and sort it out
Anyway, hew says I must gargle asprin but not swallow, and could get tonsilitis.. I'm off the cheerfulness for a while....I'm drained just typing this... must sleep now since B is back asleep....

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 09/04/2009 08:45

pmk: hope you get some rest. Gargling w aspirin a good plan (tastes vile though). Do you have honey and lemon for a hot drink?

traceface · 09/04/2009 10:06

helloeeeeeeee

Is it daft that I'm this excited about the meet-up?

York weather update...it's wet on the ground from raining in the night but no longer raining. The sky is white - no sun but no grey clouds either! DH has been out and says it's not that cold.

PMK - that sounds rubbish. Confiscate that phone!!!!

verso - sorry too for your night. Try not to think too far ahead - who knows what dd will be doing in a few weeks - ok so she's not giving you much confidence in it but we can always hope... I'm a bit nervous that P will only feed from me and I can't do that at work but it's a way off yet..one day at a time. This too shall pass...

Will there be any pics of the London meet-up? I'd love to see them if there are.

I'd better throw myself in the shower otherwise I will be the only person who can't get to York on time - and the only who lives here!

see you later

right - better

tillyfernackerpants · 09/04/2009 10:10

About to leave for York , see you there!

Pmk, hope you feel better & yep, steal that phone!

traceface · 09/04/2009 10:56

and Veggie - you will recognise me as being the person with the baby with the unusually small head

sugarrations · 09/04/2009 11:14

Just a quickie as DH off today, and is currently doing the ironing for the holiday. Had a chat last night over cheerfulness and I basically said that while I don't mind doing the lions share of stuff about the house and with the kids, I also need a break and that can only happen when he's off. He agreed said he never tells me enough what a great wife and mum I am (ahh). Has also said that I only have to work 2 days if work will agree it, so am much happier today!

DS slept better, 12.30am and then 5am wake ups but the little mite is so full of cold. I awoke with a banging headache - too much cheerfulness I think

verso So sorry you've had another bad night.

spot how is T doing today?

Ladies enjoy your meet up!

MomOrMum · 09/04/2009 12:01

Sorry to have missed the London meet up yesterday. Day was pretty much a shocker from start to finish, so you'll be glad we weren't there I think! Though I ended up giving him some Calpol late in the afternoon and it really seemed to help so maybe he is having early teething pain?

He seems in much better spirits today and MIL has taken him for a long walk so things are looking up!

For those experiencing worsening sleep patterns, thought I would post a link to this Sleep thread called "4-5 months old sleep club" in case you haven't seen it: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sleep/699641-4-5-month-olds-sleep-club-come-and-join

May be comforting to know that it is a common problem. And hopefully temporary? It NEEDS to be temporary (as MOM envisions returning to work and not being able to find her way to the office let alone complete work-related tasks).

Last night is officially the last time I try the dream feed. Have tried it the last 4 nights and he completely wakes up - laughing, thrashing about, like he has never had more fun. Then takes ages to settle. Then took ages to settle after every night feed. At 4:45 I slammed into our bedroom gently woke/punched DH and sobbed "It's your turn now. I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS." A bit melodramatic maybe but it did the trick...I got a lie-in until 9 am!

Wishing everyone calm and sleepy Easter weekends!

SummerLightning · 09/04/2009 12:13

Morning all,
I too am experiencing worse and worse sleep from the little tinker. Really hope (no offence intended to all of you with awful sleep problems) that he's not going to end up terrible, waking up all the time. So hoping it was just a one off last night.
Similarly to you MOM I threw my large hardback book across the room shouted "SHUT UP, GO TO SLEEP" (I would like to point out that DS was not in the same room while I did this) and DH woke up from the other room and looked after me, then got up with him later in the morning and I got a lie in til 8:30 even though he really should ahve been gone to work by then. So he is in my good books today (DH, not smiley happy butter wouldn't melt DS)
Still only had about 4 hrs sleep though.

sugar hurrah for your DH. he redeems himself after the other stories!

spotofcheerfulness · 09/04/2009 12:16

That's excellent news, sugar, I'm really pleased for you . And hurrah for your DH acknowledging what a great job you're doing. Hope the cheerfulness-induced headache wears off as the day goes on!
T is pretty much the same - still pooing himself silly every feed and it is filled with mucus but he seems otherwise happy. My mum was up last night (no bath cleaning this time though!) and her take on it was that if he's got wet nappies and is feeding at least half of what he normally does but otherwise seems happy, he should be ok.
I'm still a bit about the prescribing of Calpol for what seems to me to be a stomach upset, but what do I know? At least I don't think it can do any harm.
Enjoy the York meet up, everyone. I still find it weird that so many of us could pass each other in the street and not know it, and yet we know so much about each other's lives. And that many of us will never meet in RL but that it doesn't matter or make us any less "real" here. Sorry, not putting that v well . What I'm trying to say is that I know a lot of my friends (including DP) think I'm bonkers spending as much time on here as I do, but they don't realise what a support everyone is to each other here and how it has made such a difference over the last months in terms of support and advice. I really couldn't have done without you all (and I'm not even drunk yet!).
Hi POison, good to hear from you, but sorry you had such a wakeful night. It seems to be quite common here and every other night I seem to do the same thing. Maybe our body clocks are permanently buggered.
Better go and get some lunch while T naps, we're seeing his two and three quarter year old twin girl cousins this afternoon, as well as a 7 year old and 12 year old cousin. Who will all want to hug and kiss him. I think he may be a little overwhelmed but I guess it won't hurt him to get used to female attention, what with him being such a handsome fella n all .

EffiePerine · 09/04/2009 12:29

spot: if you are looking for things to do this w/end there is an Easter Egg hunt at Sutton House (also face painting on Sunday). We may go along and have a look . Also one at the Foundling Museum which is free but a bit further away.

Verso · 09/04/2009 13:40

MOM I think I'm on that thread already! But yes, you're right that it's good to know we're not alone. Feel so rubbish today.

Totally different subject - who is it who has an iPhone? Is it any good? I am SO tempted to get one and thinking about geeky gadgets is distracting me slightly from how rubbish I'm feeling . All feedback appreciated.

SummerLightning · 09/04/2009 13:48

Verso i have an iphone, I think Arti, turnip and veggie all either have the iphone or an itouch.
I love mine and wouldn't be without it. As a phone it is somewhat lacking - you can't send MMS, business cards, and various things are a bit craply thought out.
However for e-mail and internet it is just soooo easy and not fiddly at all like a lot of other phones I have used. Typing is obv not as fast as on a computer though so I tend not to bother posting on here though or sending anything but v short e-mails. I think veggie often posts from hers though.
Also lots of applications and games for playing in those sleepless nights!
Basically although a lot of the criticisms are valid, i think they are ace.
Oh and google maps is fantastic on it too. Like a gPS as well.

EffiePerine · 09/04/2009 13:50

DH is surgically attached to his iPhone. I have occasionally woken up to realise he is playing Monopoly or fly fishing in bed

SummerLightning · 09/04/2009 14:22

Is it mean to laugh at DS repeatedly trying and failing to get out of his bumbo?
After he kept me up all night, I think the answer is no.

Verso · 09/04/2009 17:39

Sooooo... does anyone have a Blackberry Storm? How does it compare? (Obv not as cool, but...?)

at Summer. Absolutely obligatory to chuckle, I feel. Had DD2 in a friend's bumbo earlier (sold DD1's on Ebay because she was so chunky I only got about a week's use out of it)... and she got wedged in tight. Thought I was going to have to get her out with a spoon.
