Flora light is at Hyde Park in September (5K run) - I'd love to say I'm a pro but running just ain't my forte. (tripping over is more my thing)

castlesintheair · 19/05/2009 13:50

Well done on all the running you healthy bunch!

Good luck with the job applications/interviews Margo.

Hope things are improving Indith.

How are you AQ?

I need to see my GP but just can't seem to fit it in at the moment. The surgery is shut between 12-3 which is about the only time of day I could go

bebespain · 19/05/2009 20:33

Finally got my date yesterday...21st... so Thursday!! I am a mixture of nerves, calm, excitement, nerves, calm, excitement
Its so strange knowing exactly when he is going to be born, totally surreal in fact and I still cannot imagine it!

Anyway will try and have a quick catch-up later...haven´t read all posts but Eli my eyes were strangely drawn to the words "peking duck" ooh what I´d give for that right now, I am very, very

accessorizequeen · 19/05/2009 21:13

Wow, bebe - Thursday! They don't give you much notice, do they? Cannot imagine how that feels, knowing you'll meet ds2 that day, very thrilling
Still skimming, sorry, trying hard to go to bed early this week as tiredness part of the problem. Not on ad's, I guess I must really not want to take them huh?

MARGOsBeenDrinkingTea · 20/05/2009 10:46

Castles - Why are GP appts so inconvenient?

Took DH to doctor today as he's still ill with his throat. His appt with ENT is in July, so he's been prescribed 2 lots of antibs with an extra week worth just incase it flares up. Gp reckons he'll have to have his tonsils out.

Bebe - it's really surreal when you know when your baby is arriving. I had a planned induction with both dds at 38 weeks (GD) - it played havoc with my sleep! Good luck!

AQ - Have you sought any help via the alternative therapy route?

jabberwocky · 20/05/2009 15:39

Wow, bebe! Tomorrow!!!!!

I let the dcs have a chocolate pop tart as a treat after karate class. Ds2 was up until 11:30 last night Then he woke up again at 2:30 with a stuffy nose, not sure if it's related or not. Luckily I'm just going in to do paperwork this morning...

jabberwocky · 20/05/2009 19:14

elibean, you're advice on floppy larynx needed here

Elibean · 20/05/2009 22:38

Thanks jabber, saw and responded

Chocolate poptart guilt if they knew what was good for them, they'd fake sleep so you wouldn't worry about giving it to them again, huh?!

Bebe, am very excited for you, remember well how surreal and scary and exciting the night before planned section felt - once you're in there, remember its your party and enjoy meeting your LO! Hope it all goes totally smoothly and you get well looked after. Will be thinking of you.

Margo, I can't run 5 yards, for all my walking, so 5km sounds pro to me!

Castles, shall I nag you re GP? Or should I ring up and yell at him/her instead? It does sound important, hope you can find a time...

...AQ, sleep well, and when my brain is recovered from the hijack that is a day out on a school outing with 5 yr olds, I will see if dh can tell me some natural alternatives to ADs. The only one I can think of right now is St Johns Wort, which is pretty effective but not great during summer (photosensitive), and probably not ok whilst BFing. Hope you get some rest.

Am beginning to seriously panic about packing up and moving to a temporary rental somewhere, but will blank that till tomorrow. Or the day after. Just my stomach keeps sinking..

castlesintheair · 21/05/2009 10:35

Thanks Eli Will get on the case once I've dealt with everything else!

Yikes, Eli, have you got somewhere to move to rental-wise? Can you get some movers in? Well worth the cost ime.

Bebe, is it today?!!!! Good luck. Will be thinking of you

AQ, I highly recommend 5HTP (you can get it in any health food shop) which is serotonin in natural form (the stuff you get in ADs) and I'm pretty sure you can take it whilst bf though not pg. I'm currently taking Relora which was recommended on the MN anxiety thread. You can't take whilst bf but worth bearing in mind when you stop. It is fantastic. I buy it on-line.

Indith · 21/05/2009 21:17

Just popping in to say boo!

Best wishes to bebe

Jabber it is the story of the little mole who knew that it was none of his business All about a mole who is trying to find out who did a poo on his head

Off to Wales tomorrow for the week, if I make it that is, you never know these internet strangers, Oli might turn out to be a hairy trucker

LenniEd · 21/05/2009 22:42

Good luck Bebe! Hope it has all gone well and you are enjoying getting to know your new baby.

Have a great time tomorrow Indith and Oli and a fab holiday

MARGOsBeenDrinkingTea · 21/05/2009 22:46

Hoping for the announcement from Bebe tomorrow.

Y'know 'cos she won't have much else to do

Olihan · 21/05/2009 22:51

Bum, typed a long post earlier and it appears that the gremlins intercepted it.

Basic gist was:

Bebe, good luck, I'm guessing he's here now and you're a family of 4. Looking forward to a birth story and name, weight, pics .

Castles, can't believe the problems you're having seeing a GP. Flipping NHS.

AQ, hope you're catching up on sleep and feeling the benefits a bit.

Hi Jabber

Margo, good luck with the applications and interviews.

Eli, definitely get the movers to do the packing too. It doesn't cost much and saves so much time and hassle.

DS2 is broken. His sleep has gone to pot, he'll only eat savoury egg bites and cereal and he will not let dh do anything for him. Even minor things like putting his shoes on or wiping his nose provoke huge tantrums if dh tries to do it. And if dh goes to him when he wakes at night all hell lets loose. I've been out (cake course and walking the dog, nowt exciting) two nights this week, ds2 has woken both times and screamed til I've got back. It's ridiculous ao if anyone has any bright ideas about how to fix it, I'd be most grateful .

jabberwocky · 22/05/2009 02:17

Hi, oli! very of the meetup between you and Indith.

Hope all went well today bebe.

I need to do a better catch-up. Whirlwind day that ended with ds1's kindergarten graduation. Oh, and ds2 has a stinking cold.

Right, am back and have sort of caught up.

Had a great time at Center Parcs. DD rode a pony, and finally enjoyed swimming after 2 years of trying. DS rolled over - yay! And DD's party was a success too. Back to reality now, lucky Bank Hol this weekend to break us in gently. Tweenies on Tuesa as well - arrrgghhh!!! No, am looking forward to it really

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 23/05/2009 17:08

Congrats on the swimming and rolling over! sounds like a lovely day

Elibean · 23/05/2009 19:30

Oli the Hairy Trucker have a great time, Indith too.

LenniEd, isn't it a relief when recalcitrant swimmers start enjoying it? dd2 always has, but dd1 didn't until she felt confident on land - then she loved it. Enjoy! Good luck with Tweenies (rather you than me...)...

Thanks Castles (nag, nag, any luck yet? I suppose not, till Tuesday...will hold off the nagging then...) and Oli, will definitely get packers and movers, but think I'd better do some sorting and throwing first: we'll be going on holiday within 4 weeks of moving, and have never moved with kids before, and am feeling overwhelmed. No house yet, but will look at rental we've spotted online (if its still there) asap this week.

Why don't I lose weight when stressed?

Ah yes, could be the inrease in chocolate

Bebe, am thinking of you, hope its all gone beautifully!

Elibean · 23/05/2009 19:31

'Drumming with Jabber' : great book title, no?

LenniEd · 23/05/2009 20:41

Yes, was wonderful to see her splashing about and going down the slides last time I took her just before DS arrived she clung to me and screamed for 20 mins before I conceeded defeat.

Stress Eli? That just doesn't cover house moves - they are beyond stress. Much sympathy. I'm sugar detoxing from today so wish I could join you in the chocolate but definately a good stress reliever

Oli/Indith - how'd it go? Hairy trucker, yay or nay??

Oli - need to fb you to get your address for pumps. Will be sad to see them go home, but have been a godsend thank you. If only DS was less fussy with a bottle I'd keep expressing but just not worth it when he only takes a bottle off me. Only 6 weeks off weaning now though.

OP posts:
LenniEd · 23/05/2009 20:48

Oh and Oli - sorry didn't respond about broken DS2 before. Didn't really know what to say. Poor you. Are you feeding him yourself at night? Couldn't remember you weaning him but know Jabber did recently so am not sure if I'm confused. You are not alone though, I have a good friend with similar problem with her DH not being able to settle her DD. I'm on the other end in that DD much prefers her Dad to do things for her which is also frustrating but I'm certain far less pressure. Will he let you both do things together?

OP posts:
Elibean · 23/05/2009 22:10

LenniEd, only six weeks....where did time go?! For that matter, your dd going down water slides...seems minutes ago she was the baby. (I think I'm having a nostalgia attack, I blame the moving thing )

Oli, also meant to say re broken ds (good way to put it): dd has been a lot like that too. dd2, that is - shouts 'I want MUMMA' if poor dh attempts just about anything while I am in the house. Not all the time, but most of it - and has also had sudden increase in tantrums, waking up at night, refusing to stay at table etc etc. I think its probably a developmental thing - like she's about to make some sort of milestone leap: I do remember dd1 going through alien phases whenever about to grow in some way. Something to do with new brain synapses forming, I believe

Wish they'd hurry up. Hope ds is fixed v soon

jabberwocky · 24/05/2009 00:55

Yup, atm ds2 is a major "Momma's Boy" as we say in the South.

LenniEd, can't believe the time has gone by so fast!

castlesintheair · 24/05/2009 08:55

Oli, my advice is: it's a phase DD1 was a major handful aged 2-3 and she is my lowest maintenance child now. Was a bloody nightmare at the time so you have my deepest sympathies.

Eli, you sound remarkably relaxed. Did you say you are moving in 2 weeks ... to nowhere, at the moment? I am impressed!

I've been trying to find a place to rent over the summer which is a joke. People really plan ahead don't they ?!
