Here's a brand new thread for the early party poppers!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh Tree you poor thing. I went through something very similar with DS2 and its so awful, you feel so bad for them as well as feeling wretched yourself. I know its probably not much consolation at the moment but he turned out to be the sweetest natured, calmest child of the lot, he really is my darling boy.

I'm sure you've already tried it if you've been doing alternative therapies, but a really good osteopath turned my little boy around in just a couple of appointments, although for some it can take several sessions. Some osteopaths are better than others though so best to go with a recommendation if you can get one.

Sending lots of love, light and hugs to you and yours. Hope it gets easier really soon. xx

hkz · 10/02/2009 13:38

Tree- Hope you are bearing up, sounds like you are having a tough time with your lo. No need to apologise for your absense...real life is more important than Mn! Hope her colic calms down and you manage to get some rest and that the treatments/thearapies have some effect. Its not the same on here without you!

Moose- Sorry your ds is getting migraines, that must be horrible for him. I had them as a child/ teenager and they stopped when I hit about 18. But awful for him and you to go through. i hope you find a good treatment to control them. One of the things that helped me was seeing an optomatrist (sp??) who gave me eye excercises to do as part of the cause for me was to do with not focusing my eyes properyl.. might help..

Dog- Hope your homebirth is ging well and you're enjoying the pool...good luck! Watching out for birth announcements.

Thanks for the advice on the car seat, have followed instructions down to the last dot. Just don't want to get a base as we only use the car seat in the car iyswim (so not taking it in or out the whole time), and they are quite bulky and there's bugger all room in there with DD's seat as well. The seat is compatible with our car... might have to pretend I bought it in Halfords or something and get them to fit it... If not everyone seems to recommend the bases..so might have to invest...babies cost a bomb!

DS has got conjunctivitus, have just been to the DR as breast milk has not cleared it up and now I have it...don't want DD abd DP getting it too so have drops to use. I'm so squeamish about anything to do with eyes, I hate putting them in.

dog, second the g&a in the pool; sounds like a lovely way to do it! enjoy

books, sounds like your LO is doing briliiantly, regaining birthweight AND putting on some to boot; don't worry at all if you can! [I know thats impossible emoticon]

moose; I too am migraine sufferer, can't believe how common it is. Mine have stress/food triggers. Poor lamb, they are appauling, though its good you have sussed it and can start sorting it out.

Tree... hope you manage to get some rest, that sounds like a nightmare. Sounds like she is in the best hands with you and the rest of mumsnet looking after her . There was an interesting reflux thread here.

fourlittlefeet · 10/02/2009 15:23

oh, and re baby massage, they don't let you do it until the babies are a bit more robust at 6 weeks (a bit like we're not meant to do anything until 6 weeks either, though I am raring to start yoga as I love the way it helps me sleep!)

oh exciting go dog

fourlittlefeet · 10/02/2009 18:57

Dog, you are doing so well, at 7cm all I could do was issue instructions to the boys...goooo dog, am really excited that this is finally happening!

hkz - meant to say re conjuncivitis/sticky eye...H had it until this week when he started getting real tears, which seems to be washing it away. The HV said it was more likely to be blocked ducts than anything serious and you can gently massage downwards by their nose with warm fingers, which can help! Just in case you don't like using the medicine!

moosemama · 10/02/2009 19:09

Go Dog - am so excited for you! 7cms - not long now then!

hkz · 10/02/2009 19:31

flf- the doctor mentioned the massage, will try this as am a bit wary of giving him antibiotic drops so early on. Only problem is I seem to have sticky eyes now, so think it might be conjunctivitus and really don't want dd to get it. She had it about a month ago and it was horrible for her.

Well done dog, sounds like you're doing good!

missjackson · 10/02/2009 20:14

tree you poor thing, it sounds so tough. I am sure something will make a difference one day soon and the situation will turn a corner and you'll start noticing things getting better. But until then you need all the support you can get - sounds like OH is helping out so that's great at least. Sending you big hugs - and of course we are always here to offload on...

dog loving your updates, and so, so pleased you got your homebirth! Can confirm G&A very compatible with pool!

Finally LO has a name - Aneurin Paul... to be known as Nye. ILs will get over it I am sure! MIL when told made a face but we've left her to pass the news onto FIL!

Nye thanked me for finally naming me by peeing all over me at nappy change! Guess I will remember to watch out from now on...

fourlittlefeet · 10/02/2009 21:00

hkz - i got sticky eyes too - used the breast milk in my eyes as well and it cleared up in four days . Definitely try and hold out against the drugs if you can; I found I had to put milk in his eyes at every feed until his eyes were naturally moist.

Congrats MJ on the name... we too have German inlaws (my mum is German) and have had to fight the good name fight!

LenniEd · 10/02/2009 21:03

Tree - will be thinking of you. Sounds really tough. Have also been there with the colic/reflux thing with DD and it is so unpleasant but it doesn't last. DD was significantly easier by 12wks and was lovely by 5/6months so although 12 weeks might seem like a lifetime now each week will be easier than the last. Make sure you take all the help you get offered and don't worry about us, we'll muddle through without you, although you are missed for your wit and good humour as much as your vast knowledge. Come back when you are ready Hope things with your DH's job etc are improving too - god you've got a lot on your plate right now. ((Hugs))

Dog - how relaxed are you?! Wonderful to have labour updates all through, you sound very serene. Hope it is as lovely an experience as it sounds.

Yay for the name MissJackson - so glad you went for it. Have had a fair few of those nappy change wees here. Just when I get complacent and stop using the wee protector flannel he gets me!

qumps · 10/02/2009 22:27

rrrayray · 11/02/2009 00:40

Tree First of all... MASSIVE hug! you poor poor thing, and your poor baby. Hoping everything settles itself out SOON. Hope OH being super supportive & doing what he can.

Dog Great news, and YES def G&A in water, i used tonnes of the stuff when i was in the water. Although, i would like to think you have delivered by now!! Can't wait to hear about it. xxx

wooohoooooo dog so so happy for you! Enjoy your little one

mastitis here at the house of Spink. Bloody hell.

missjackson · 11/02/2009 11:52

CONGRATULATIONS DOG - well done!!!! Now the fun begins after all that waiting! Sounds like she had plenty of time to grow whilst biding her time!

After 2 good nights, we had a more difficult one last night - Nye just wanted to suckle (not even feed) the whole night, and my nipples just can't take it anymore. I can't get a good latch while lying down (any tips?) so he just keeps coming off and relatching, and of course that's the painful bit. And I am too tired to sit upright nursing all night! He's not buying the dummy at the moment either - seems to either spit it out or suck it furiously and get more worked up!

Spink mastitis sounds nasty, hope it clears up soon - have no idea what you do for it medically but hope you get it zapped.

stripeywoollenhat · 11/02/2009 11:52

Dog - hurrah! congratulations! welcome to the small one!

We are having huge difficulties here getting dd to settle, with the result that she keeps getting horrendously overtired, wound up, can't latch, is comfort suckling and otherwise yelling her poor overtired head off. Can someone please tell me that this will pass soon...? Even if it's a lie...?

Spink, - hope it clears up swiftly

Tree - poor you. Poor little girl. Really hoping it gets better for you by the day.

qumps · 11/02/2009 12:25

congratulations dog and welcome officially to the other side! sounds like you are the top dog for getting your homebirth.
is that all babies accounted for?
spink you poor thing you have had such a rough time.
tree how are things today? sending happy vibes your way.
stripey it will pass soon! have you tried a pitch black room? rhythmic (sp) pat and shush aka baby whisperer seems to work here.
missj try different shaped dummy. never managed to do it lying down so afraid can't help sorry. sounds like growth spurt though.
still vomit here. ran out of formula so attempted to get to tesco which resulted in vomit all over the car... ran into local chemist holding ds1 covered and screamed get me aptimel at the pharmacist like some crazy woman. only 5 days till dh home....
on positive note ds heart scan went well. brain scan in a few weeks and then hopefully can relax.
