Oh Daisy Anne how adorable is that!!!

Sky hope you have a fabulous birthday

Jam rest lots my lovely and shove the boy up your top at every opportunity. He does look an awful lot like Archie!

I bet Archie looks HUGE now when you see him next to little Lachlan.

Cant wait to meet him.

JamInMyWellies · 17/12/2008 20:13

Oh PJ how lovely.

So here it is....

Took A to toddlers yesterday morning and by the end of the session was feeling a bit dodgy was getting a few niggles. Came home and just felt I should eat vast quantities of carbs. By half one-ish phone J to come home and then spent a couple of hours on the phone to mum while A was sleeping and J was coming home. By tea-time there was a bit of a pattern and by the time J had put A to bed they were coming thick and fast.

I did think I was being a bit of a wuss but phoned the birthing center and they said your not far away pop up and we will check you out. So off we trotted got the neighbours to come sit for half an hour. I really was quite amazed at the strength of the contractions but was convinced I would be sent home again.

Arrived there about 8.30 where I was given the dreaded internal the absoloutley lovely midwife said I was 4cm at which point they contractions were every 5mins and lasting about 1min 30sec. This was sadly where my self belief in doing it at the birthing center faltered. I paniced that this meant I was going to have another birth like A very painful and long drawn out. I was begging J to let me go to the hospital so I could have an epidural as I was convinced that I couldnt do it. The midwife persuaded me to try the birthing pool. Which I have to say was amazing I immediatley felt calmer and more in control continuing with my deep breathing. I still had a bit of self doubt and after a couple more horrid contractions I said I was deffo sure that I needed to transfer to hospital so an ambulance was called and I started to panic big time the contractions suddenly got much worse and I couldnt breathe through them anymore so I asked for pethadine. They said I could have some to get me to the hospital. So off we trotted in the ambulance little did I know the midwife was concerned that we wouldnt actually make it to hopsital and had told John that we may have to stop and deliver at the roadside . Anyway all the way to hospital they kept asking me was I feeling the bear down in my bottom, I was but was too scared to say so as it meant I wouldnt get my epidural.

We got to hospital around 10.30 by which time I was getting really pissed that there wasnt an anaesthetist (sp?) waiting for me to put the epi in. Met my new midwife a lovely Scottish girl! She wanted to asses where I was at again she said about 5cm I couldnt believe it. I was most pissed off and was being quite demanding about the epi wanting to know exactly how long etc. All the time still feeling this need to bear down and it felt like my stomach was going to explode. Then just as the anaesthetist arrived in the room I had another major contraction and my waters broke all over the bed. The midwife checked me again and I had gone from 5cm - 10cm just with having my waters go. So the epidural was off I was not happy. there was a few choice words coming out my mouth.

So i was very definitely feeling the need to push by this stage so was sucking on the gas and air like my life depended on it, still dont think it does anything to me but hey ho. I was pushing and pushing. The feeling was extraordinary I couldnt believe the sensations i was feeling but John and the midwife really kept me going. My breathing for the most part went totally to pot and I started shouting through the contractions I kept reminding myself that I needed to use my energy better as did the midwife and JOhn.

The head crowned and out it popped then they had to do a bit of manouvering of his body as he was trying to come out shoulders square on. The out came the rest of him. I was totally overwhelmed that i had done it with breathing (sort of) and what i felt had been useless gas & air and a shot of pethadine.

The midwife was awesome and cleaned me up a bit let him him lie on me for a good 30 mins before she weighed him. 9lb's of solid boy.

What made it a good experience is I know I gave it a bloody good try at the birthing centre and also that even though I transferred to hospital I still pretty much go the birth I had initailly aimed for. All thanks to a very determined John and 2 midwifes.

I was checked out and all my bits given a bit of a poke, I didnt tear! I delivered the placenta and the midwife spent time showing us the placenta and explaining the different bits of it etc. She then went and ran me a bath and made John a cup of tea and me a few rounds of toast and jam. A totally different exp to last time.

I am so happy he doesnt appear to have a tongue tie - hurrah. He fed on both boobs fairly soon after birth and then slept for a few hours I tried him again first thing and he suckled for a bit he has since not really fed or woken up much except when being changed or poked by the paed and hearing specialist. He has had several meconium poos and did a massive pee all over JOhn so am not worrying too much about him not feeding much today as he must have had pethadine coursing through his veins and am pretty sure A did the same the first 24hrs. He also has masses of gunk that he is spitting up.

Blimey mammouth post well done if you read through it.

Thanks for all the well wishes, texts, FB messages etc.

AMeadowfullofChristmasTrees · 17/12/2008 20:25

Well done you!
What a lovely birth story. You must be so proud of yourself. Lucky you for not tearing as well!

How has A taken to his little brother? They look so alike it's scary.

I hope you have a good first night at home x

MKG · 17/12/2008 21:28

Oh Jam I'm so

MmeJaffaB · 17/12/2008 22:10

Lovely experience Jam, you should be very proud. No doubt SOH will shed another tear at the lovliness of it.

Enjoy your time with your PNB as we all know how fast the time goes. I remember NOTHING of Jorja from a wee newborn.

TheGreatChristmasEvie · 17/12/2008 22:26

On no!I cant believe I missed it all!!

Oh but hes GORGEOUS!!Well done my lovely Jammy..Can someone email me her address for card sending?

How exciting and how lovely just in time for Christmas. What a cool name too!!

I dont remember M or L as a newborn Mrs JB..Think I was so fucked that I have blocked it all out

Well Sat went very well.DH had no idea and on seeing all his friends in the pub promptly burst into tears.Fabbo!Even better was that in the afternoon I had four gins (for the nerves you understand)popped into French Connection and under the influence (as would never normally spend so much without alot of thought) bought the most wondrous coat in the universe. It is yellow. It is fabulous.(it was featured in last weeks Look magazine)And I heart it.I want to sleep in it I love it so much.

L has an ear infection.Whatever..on we go..I was meant to be having a day to myself tomorrow but she will be too poorly to go to CM so thats downt he drain.Christ knows when I will finish my shopping or do my wrapping.Hey ho.

Big hello to everyone else..will have a proper catch up in a bit...

Love again to the Jam family. That has pepped me up a bit I must say, nice to have some lovely news

PJ-Did you watch The Girls Aloud Party.I sky plussed and L and I watched it today. Is it too late for me to join the band d'you think?

twelveyeargap · 18/12/2008 00:32

Yay! Well done Jam. You did brilliantly.

Makes me a little sad I won't be doing it again myself. Only a little though! The Boy is lovely. X

twelveyeargap · 18/12/2008 00:51

Ooh, I forgot to refresh before posting. I will join your girlband Scoot. Which one do you want to be? I'd quite like to be Cheryl (minus Ashley) or maybe Sarah, because she's clearly the noorrrrrty one.

Delighted the party went well after all the planning and the palarver and illness and fatigue and by Jesus do you deserve that coat!

By contrast, I am not long back from Tesco with a black top and a black jumper. Woop de woop. It's a sad day for my former life, I tell ya. Filled the trolley with booze for the season including all the minis for the stockings and lo and behold, got asked for ID. Given my dishevelled, grey-faced, baggy-eyed, post-flu appearance, I probably would have kissed the guy if I'd had my driving licence on me, but had gone out with just a credit card. Managed to talk him into selling it to me in the end, when I said he couldn't take a credit card payment if he thought I was under 18, because it would mean i was using someone else's card.
Maybe I should go out without make up more often. Maybe it ages me.

Rest of present shopping done online since I now actually don't have time to go to the shops and drive myself mad. This flu could be a sort of Christmas blessing in disguise. The loss of 7lbs has cheered me up a bit too.

Found out why the Boy has been unsettled. Two teeth! (D'oh!) Three kids and still no clue. I've never BF a baby with teeth before....

AMeadowfullofChristmasTrees · 18/12/2008 07:36

Scoot am so pleased that Dh's party went so well. You certainly deserve that coat, i bet you look gorgeous in it. Re the girl band i wouldnt mind joining if i could be Nadine. I love her hair and i wouldnt mind her long legs either.

TYG on the id front. I got told i looked 15 the a few months back by a family friend of my great aunt who was looking at me very strangly and trying to work out what my relationaship was with J&E! at O having 2 teeth already. J got his 1st teeth when he was 8mths and E waited until her 1st birthday before getting one. Even now at 20mths she has only just got her 12th tooth.

Jam, how was your first night home with you gorgeous little Lachlan?

Pink, did you get to go and meet Daisy Ane yet?

MmeJB, how are you all? Is A managing to cope with al his work?

LG&T, great news on the girl being spot on, but at them preparing for an early arrival.

Doing the last round of present wrapping today and getting the last gifts in the post that need to be sent. I thought i was ready until we received a large box from a friend filled with presents. Had to go back into town and try and think of things we could get for him, his wife and 2 teenage dd's.

We have our office xmas party tonight. Off to Legoland, Windsor for a party. Its called Magical Monte Martre ( or something). Food, drink, casino and dodgems. Got a girl from nursery babysitting and staying over which will be fab.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 18/12/2008 08:26

Oh Scoot i am SO pleased that the party went well The coat is well deserved too, link please?! Hope L feels better soon, poor thing. Are you still off work?

Jam you are amazing I love that the waters break and all hell breaks loose! 5-10cm in a nanosecond, the body never lies you know. Does he fit in any of A's first clothes or is too chunky?

TYG 7lbs!!!!!!! I ammhoping to lose at least a stone and a half overnight with this one >

I too get excited about clothes from the supermarket although Blooming Marvellous are my choice of fashion right now.

I will join Girls Aloud when i have shed 5 stone and grown 5 inches

The boy has teeth already!! Good lord, dd was the only one of mine to have teeth at 3 months. She used to bite and take great pleasure in it too i stopped feeding her at 4 months as she would not stop.

Jam i hope you rest lots and dh runs around after you, he sounds like he was a star during the birth i am so that you have the little man with you now, how many days late was he?

April i don't think she will be here early, i look huge and have all the right niggles but i think it is only because my body remembers too well what it is supposed to be doing. My boobs are the worst, they hurt and i keep leaking colostrum, i feel that need to feed a baby all the time. Pins and needles let down. Gah!

SKYTVADDICT · 18/12/2008 09:00

Teeth TYG!! OMG, wonder if L will get some soon - something is making him unsettled! He has now had 3 days of baby rice and I am pleased to say (to the critics i.e. MY MUM) that it is making no blardy difference to his sleeping!!!! FFS I knew if wouldn't but hey ho!!

Was supposed to be my busiest day of the year today and I was a little worried as I am soooo tired - was supposed to be going for breakfast, to DD2s carol concert, to lunch then picking DD2 up at 4 after another Carol concert and it is her school disco tonight.

Instead I am sat here with a hot snot monster (C) who has been up and being sick (I think with temp) in the night.

I also have not wrapping done but have nearly finished buying.

Lovely birth story Jam - he looks gorgeous.

C had just got off the sofa where he has been watching "beebies" since 7am - think the nurofen and calpol may be working (he only moved to the chair nearer the tv though )

Hello everyone else

JamInMyWellies · 18/12/2008 10:37

Well we survived the first night in the jam household. DS2 blimey thats weird saying that. was ok he decided to wake just before we went to bed but I tried to feed him a bit and he eventually settled he is still sicking up lots of mucos and not latching very well. But the midwife is coming today so will get her to check my latch. I do think I just have forgotten what the first few days are like especially before the milk comes in. Also I have quite inverted nipples so the poor sausage has to work doubly hard to get things started. Right best go slosh my nether regions in a salty bath.

Pinkjennybellrock · 18/12/2008 10:43

Jam - congratulations! He's so gorgeous.

Scoot - I wanted that coat, but the black buckles pulled over my vast norkage. Was devastated. See how I know which coat you mean? It is so gorgeous. And I am watching the GA party in installments. It makes me never want to eat again. You can be part of the band until L grows up and takes her rightful place in it. I'm off to join the Sugababes. I couldn't be in GA as I'd have to slap that Sarah one.

AM - not seen Daisy yet, but have spoken to BF and had lots of texts. BF is thrilled that she is feeling much happier and more confident than she did with her first.

Goodness me! I soooo want another baby.

Pinkjennybellrock · 18/12/2008 13:41

And I'm experiencing ishoos with receiving delivery of my Secret Santa items for my recipient, so if you have registered but not received, fear not, it's probably off me!

And AM - will post J and E's presents tomorrow. They've been sitting on the worktop for about two weeks. I am being very dozy about it. I do apologise.

Where IS everyone?????

Jam can post with a new born baby y'know!!!!!!

JamInMyWellies · 18/12/2008 13:54

Oh PJ that will be me too am just about to try find something else as what I ordered is out of stock.

AM thankyou soo much the outfit is lovely I cant believe he will ever be big enough to fit in proper jeans.

Can you all help well PJ seeing as you are the only one around. We cant decide Lachlan or lochlan when we say it we are pronouncing Lochlan but both of us prefer spelling Lachlan but obviously that is said differently.

TYG will post your hypno stuff back after Chrimbo dont want it lost in the post.

SCOOt so glad oyu had a fab time at the party did DH'd family turn up in the end? I too would like to join the girl band much as I love Girls Aloud my heart lies with the Sugababes I would be Heidi. In fact DP would love it if I was Heidi she is on his lamenated list.

Right DS1&2 are both asleep am going to try and have a little snooze.

Pinkjennybellrock · 18/12/2008 13:58

I like Lachlan, and I pronounce them both Lochlan. I do prefer Lachlan as a spelling, and having just quickly checked babynames.com, there is a Lachlan on there, but not Lochlan.

So yes, Lachlan, pronounced Lochlan. God, I'm a right help aren't I?

MKG · 18/12/2008 13:59

I feel bad for my secret santa recipient. I picked out a lovely gift and went to send it and it was $155. So the I decided to go online. Well most American sites won't ship to the uk and the UK sites won't take my credit card because I'm not in the UK. I will figure it out soon, but unfortunately this is not working out how I intended.

On a positive note. Mateo has been out of diapers totally for three whole days. He hasn't had one accident at night, and we are very proud of him. And Shippy. Well he just causes trouble.

I am going to try to upload their Christmas pictures as they are adorable.

Pebblemum · 18/12/2008 13:59

Jam congratulations and well done.

I cant use G&A myself, makes me feel too woozy and I hate that. Your use of the G&A even though you were sure it wasnt doing anything reminded me of J's labour. I had a tens machine on and refused to take it off even though the midwife said it would no longer be strong enough to make any difference (I was close to the pushing stage lol) To me though it was a phsycological thing, if i thought it was helping then it was

Talking of labour I need advice from the wise one LG&T. For the past two weeks Ive been having all the signs of preparing for labour that I normally get only in the last two weeks ie very very strong braxton hicks, pressure down below, feelings of bearing down etc. I know the LO isnt engaged yet but im starting to panic that he is getting ready to make an appearance fairly soon. You have experience of impatient babies, what do you think? I dont see my midwife until Christmas Eve but last time i saw her he was measuring a bit bigger than my dates which has added to my fear, maybe they got my dates wrong. I am so behind with getting things ready for this LO, the moses basket needs sorting out, Ive not bought anything for my hospital bag, I still need bottles (will try bf but want to be prepared), nappies etc as well as a name lol. Was hoping it could all wait until after Christmas but am getting worried I will be caught short.

MKG · 18/12/2008 14:15

Pebble--When are you due again? Try not to worry too much.

JamInMyWellies · 18/12/2008 14:24

Thanks PJ think thats what we are swinging towards.

Blimey pebble maybe you are going to have a baby jesus.
