Hope this works

thought i would start a thread for those of us already in the heady World of motherhood, so we can share the trials and tribulations of the early days....

I shall start with my birth story and hope other's follow and I haven't started a dud thread

As you know I was dreading a 3rd CS, almost to the point where I was having panic attacks - we went in on the Thursday and after waiting for an EMC we were taken to theatre where I was DELIGHTED to recognise the aneathatist (sp!!) who helped deliver DS2. Now, one of my major fears about a 3rd CS was the fact that having had a "perfect" excperience with DS2, it6 wouldn't be possible to experience the same thing again...I was wroing, it was better The whole thing was started at 1315 and Tallulah was born at 1344 weighing 7lbs 2oz. She has a shock of dark hair but seems so small compared to the boys who were 9 and 10lbs respectively. The care I recieved was absolutely 2nd to none - no complaints or gripes.........So far so good.........

HOWEVER.........my god, do you forget the pain of breastfeeding before the milk comes in - I am in absolute agony and have had to top up with aptamil as the poor wee thing is so, so hungry...I am literally BF for up to 2 hours (the point of pain in both udders ) and then topping up with Aptamil. She guzzles 30ml and then settles.......As for sleep - sleep is for wimps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to Vbab & Merry
Vbab that must have been scary for you, glad Alyssa is OK.
Obs glad you had a better night
Cebee Jay is a lazy feeder too, hes OK at first but you ca forget about winding mid feed as he refuses point blank to have the bottle back, he seems to snack instead of taking a good amount. MW suggested increasing the amount offered but all that means is that I have more left over at the end
Lacks hope you get the constipation sorted.
Sorry if I have missed anyone - Hi to everyone else
Congratulations to Barbs

LeakyDAISYcal · 25/11/2008 13:21

Congratualtions Barbareeba and welcome to William. Wow he's a whopper!! i hope she isn't too sore and look forward to hearing all about it

Spoke to the bank.....they have cancelled my card, and the only transaction that went through was for £2.00 to Oxfam!!

We have had a poo, but he is still writhing in pain . Think I'll call the HV and see what she suggests.

Oblomov · 25/11/2008 13:46

Just bak from oestopath. Ds2 did the biggest, most explosive pooh, i have ever seen. Was mid changing him. and he did another. sprayed all over me and him. Stood then stunned. 'its working then', she said. 'seems like it', I said. Happy but not amused at that nano-second, stood there dripping in yellow shit.

sorry to hear of leakys pooh problem. what do they recommend other than boiled water ? I don't know.

leaky, my credit fraud, on you, has been sussed then I KNEW I should have withdrawn £10,000 on the first day. ha ha. any luck with bank ?

sympathy to merrym. I LOVE routines. Just can't get the little tyrant in one. ha ha.
funny how different we are.

LeakyDAISYcal · 25/11/2008 13:53

lol at the poo explosion obs , and fingers crossed the osteo works for you. We have another session booked for Friday although I'm sceptical it'll do any good as the two sessions we have had so far haven't.

You sound much more cheerful in your posts this morning

yup, all sorted with the bank. One of my june 07 buddies is in Italy and she gets a text from the bank everytime she uses her credit card so she can check it was her transaction. sounds like a great idea.

zonedout · 25/11/2008 17:50

Congratulations to Barbareeba, well done on your whopper!

It seems we are very boy-heavy on this thread?

So we went to the paed this am who diagnosed ds2 as having laryngomalacia and some silent reflux hence all the crazy noises he makes as soon as he lies flat and the frequent and rather frightening coughing, choking and gagging he does. Although, thank goodness, both these conditions are rather mild in him at present I have been told to expect things to get worse before they get better. At the moment he is thriving and putting on loads of weight so we are going meds free and just managing the symptoms at home by keeping him upright and panicking assisiting him when he chokes. I just pray that his reflux doesn't get as bad as it did with ds1, not sure I could face another hellish first year.

mum2becks · 25/11/2008 19:53

had a text from saurus today, asked me to say hi to everyone from her, has been having some issues but says she will be back with us soon!!!

ceebee74 · 25/11/2008 20:15

Obs really hope the osteopath does the trick for you. Also read on your other thread about the dummy - 'whatever works' is my motto!!

Mum2becks glad Saurus is ok - I have been wondering about her and hoping everything is ok. Hope it was nothing serious.

Zonedout not nice for you to have to deal with but I guess if it gets too bad, you can turn to the medicine then? Poor DS2 - must be really unpleasant for him!

MW came today to take my stitches out (that has to be one of the worst sensations ever!!) and check Sam over. He is still jaundiced, sleepy and hadn't put any weight on so they are coming back on Thursday to check him again. I bought the size 3 teats today and the 2 bottles he has had since then, he has nearly finished them both so maybe this is the start of him feeding better and shifting the jaundice!! He has also been awake since 5pm and just gone to sleep which must be a record for him being awake!

Ladybuzz Sam is exactly like you described Jay - you get one chance to put the bottle in and that is it - but I don't like not winding him halfway through either - is this a stubborn streak showing itself early???

Vbab how is Alyssa today?

Hope everyone else is ok

chocolategal · 25/11/2008 20:23

hello to the "dark side" ladies!!
so glad to have made it over here, will catch up properly tmw
x

ceebee74 · 25/11/2008 20:49

Forgot to say that Dh took me and Sam shopping today to a local factory outlet shop for my 'pushing' present - a lovely tan-coloured Radley handbag - my first one!! Not sure I will ever use it - just look at it and stroke it occasionally

Welcome to the 'dark' side Chocolategal

vbab78 · 25/11/2008 21:18

lol at exploding poo!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes regarding Alyssa. She has been breathing better today and her eyes have hardly leaked.

obs - thanks for your comments regarding DS. Really meant a lot.

leaky - sorry to hear about your card fraud. Hope it is sorted soon. Also sorry to hear about your's and DS problems. Hope you both better soon.

HV been finally. Alyssa was only 2 weeks old today! She is now 8lb 4oz. That's a 9oz increase on her birth weight. Been told that is really good as baby's normally lose weight initially after birth.

DS back with us this aft and eve. He has been great except for a mad 10 mins with me trying to get him into his pj's after his bath. But went to bed no probs after cuddles with me on the sofa watching "Something Special" one of his favorite shows I recorded for him. DS loves anything with Justin in and especially his "Mr Tumble" character (guy on loads of stuff on CBeebies).

Must go now and sort "her ladyship's" bottles and move tea pots. I need to then get to bed as "her ladyship" has been very much the cry baby over the last couple of hours and as DH is back at work tomorrow I'm getting up for ALL feeds in the night.

WISH ME LUCK TOMORROW as first day of DH back at work. Saying that will be with my mum the most of the day as going shopping to Meadowhall. So at least backup will be there if needed.

ChocOrange05 · 26/11/2008 08:27

Morning all! I hope its a good one for you all and that everyone's LO's were good and sleepy!!

My LO had his first ever bottle feed last night and after a few mins of rejecting it he finally took it from DH - only about 2oz which I thought was not a lot (??) but he didn't want another feed for 5 hrs. This means I can start going to bed earlier!!

I have created a quick poll in nappy changes, have a look here

Have a good day all. x

Oblomov · 26/11/2008 09:56

Morning
Have responded to Choc's thread.
Better night. Once again no screaming.
I fed at 10pm, 12am, 2am, 4a, 7am.
That is every 2 hours. BUT. feeding takes atleast 30-40 mins, sometimes nearer an hour by the time I have bf, winded , bottled fed, winded etc.
So by the time I get back into bed, I am actually only getting 1 HOURS sleep, between feeds.
Now, thats not good is it.
But atleast its better than it was.

Like sound of ceebees handbag. Needs to be USED though ceebee, not just admired.

Howe you doing Vbab

How is merrym and that poor rash. god my mind squirms just at the thought of poor merrym and that nasty rash.

Have we got a list of all babies, re sex - as zoned says, the boys do outnumber, don't they ?

Dozymare · 26/11/2008 10:06

CHOC as you know, I have always got DH to do a bottle feed at the 10-11pm feed just so I can go to bed at 8pm if I so please. It works for us and DH loves that one on one. Lots of people I know do it as well and definately helps on the sleep front.

Obs I still think that is crazy feeding pattern - seriously, I don't know how you are doing it...I mean, 1 hour sleep every other hour. I was up at 3am for about 40mins and feel shattered on that.

Q - does DS2 feed lots in the day? If he doesn't then maybe he is making up his milk quota at night???

right, off to wake ittle tiger up now!!

DM x

Oblomov · 26/11/2008 10:49

Agree Dozy F**king Crazy
But what can I do ?

Do you all remmeber that I joked about having a devil child with Yorky, Sparkle, Misdee, LadyBuzz and heart2mum. Infact Heart2mum did have angel ds1, nightmareds2.

Well, looks like my prediction came tru then

No point crying over spilt vodka topped up milk ( I am debating it, to get the little terror to sleep)

We soldier on. What is the alternative ?
Anyone looked into emigrating recently.
Who was the bloke, who went canoeing, and pretended to be dead, for the life insurance. That is looking highly appealing, right now, aswell.

Dozymare · 26/11/2008 11:09

obs retyaining your sense of humour is of utmost importance! Well done on that score!!

Now woman, anser my question, how does the little devil angel FEED in the day????

(for those of you going at my calling Obs DS2 a "DEVIL" fear not, Obs will find take it in the context it is meant - ie a JOKE!!!!!

OP posts:
Oblomov · 26/11/2008 11:59

every 3 hrs. bf for as long as poss, then ebm, on average 3-4 oz. so combined milk consumption prob good. as shown by healthy weight gain.

sparkletoes · 26/11/2008 12:55

hello ladies!

Am in rush so will post same message as I have just put on the other thread.

Will catch up properly asap! I have PICTURES!! here

Many congrats to DrsWife and welcome to the world baby Sophie!!

Also big congrats to ChocGal and baby Ewan! and Barbs and baby William!!

Haven't read all thread but know also due congrats to many more of you.. Ceebee, Hanaflower will catch up soon promise!

sparkletoes · 26/11/2008 13:10

Just caught your message there Obs. Suffice to say I am in exact same position! (Hence lack of posting for last week!).

We even tried a bottle one night but made no difference. However MW just made her last visit and DS2 has gained 4oz since Sunday and is now 10lb 9oz. That may explain the mad feeding frenzy over the weekend.

I thought he was becoming nocturnal as he slept well during day and not at all at night. Yesterday I made effort not to let him sleep for long periods during the day (no longer than 1 hour at time) and woke him to feed him instead. It wasn't quite so bad last night as he was up every 2 hours instead of constantly and he even slept in moses basket during feeds. Hope I am making some progress there but only tonight will tell...

Oblomov · 26/11/2008 13:38

sparkle, total sympathy.
I posted a thread the other day in aibu. was very helpful. no real answers though. but we can despir, 'TOGEVER'. we wanna be 'togever'

my hv phoned, apparently, when I went to have him weighed the other day, the hv there was concenred about me. funny that. after being up 10pm-5am. no kidding. so she contacted my hv.
OBS IS mentally unstable.
( well thats how thye make me feel)
or rather unstable on her feet due to lack of sleep. no, I am sure they are concerned, for my mental state, as they should be. but they have no answers, do they ? noone does.

never mind. we will laugh about this. ( we will ????)

LadyBuzz · 26/11/2008 14:00

Obs we will laugh honest and it WILL be worth it!
I have stolen Sparkles idea - gorgeous baby by the way Sparkle and I have photos here
Jay has a cough and keeps gagging and chocking - scare the life out of me, he seems ok though we are amost managing the 11, 3, 7, 11, 3 thing - or we did ysterday and this morning
Hi to everyone else

coolkat · 26/11/2008 14:40

Hello

I don't know how yu are functioning obs but like you say it will pass and be worth it, its good you are keeping comical about it. X

Vbab sorry to hear about your LO being poorly, hope she is getting better, hope you have had a good day at meadowhall you brave brave lady, I have been shopping at out of town outle type places but not ventured into the city yet.

Congrats Drswife and Barb. X

We seem to be doing ok ad I have had a few nights where Rebecca has gone from 9.30 through to 2.30am and then awake again at 6.30 / 7am. I did not know whether I should wake her in the middle of the nght as it seems a long while to go without a feed The HV is comng tomorrow s we will get her weighed and see how much she has put on.

Hi to everyone else, sorry its a quick one but got to do the school run.
X

ChocOrange05 · 26/11/2008 15:00

Obs you sound like you are having a tough time but I think you have been keeping the PMA attitude as you have your sense of humour. I think whisky is better than vodka for dosing them up but perhaps do a bit of trial and error with the drinks cabinet!

Sparkle sorry you are having a tough time too - but your LO's are gorgeous!!

I am trying a new routine today - its based on GF, up at 7 and getting him to feed lots but I am letting him nap when he wants until 5 when I will try and keep him awake till 7pm.

Wish me luck!!

Rosa · 26/11/2008 15:21

Hi everybody - just wanted to touch base and get back to this thread. Scanned quickly Hurrah for the new arrivals Well done to Drswife , Barbs and Choc gal.
Glad to see we seem to be all pretty stressed out , tired , and not getting this routine or lack of thing - its not just me then ?
Daisy - does you lo cry in pain when he poos or is it before / after ???
Dd2 has regular colic and without a doubt prefers to be slightly elevated ( or of course in arms !!) she won't wind at all so colic builds up and up . However after 3 weeks my milk is finally in 100% and I need a new bra !
Hey up she is off again - Virtual hugs to you all especially those having more specific problems.

sparkletoes · 26/11/2008 16:40

Hello again, popping back between winding and feeding!

Yes Obs we can be in this togever! Is a nightmare so am really hoping it tails off soon! The days are all becoming one and it is night time again before I know it! DH is back at work on Monday, can't believe it! Where is time going! Doesn't help that DS2 is already in and filling 3 month clothes! Feel like I have missed out on first few months of his life somewhere and he is not even 2 weeks old!

ChocO I am seriously considering one of the routine books if nothing changes here. Do you try to put your DS to bed at 7pm then? When does he normally get up again?

ChocOrange05 · 26/11/2008 17:08

sparkle we put him down between 6.30-7 but sometimes he doesn't settle till 8 (and a couple of times he hasn't at all ) and then we have to wake him to feed at 10pm then 3am. We get up at 7am.
