oooggs · 13/10/2008 20:44

yes they are all asleep - I hate it when they cry themselves to sleep

eddas - that sounds positive on a childcare front

I am still trawling for cars (have found one in Langport Somerset - Pesha)

Sexonlegs · 13/10/2008 21:24

Evening.

Leaky, you are going through it aren't you. Hope you are taking it easy. xx

POTC, I had a patience by-pass at birth I think. I am dreadful - even worse when pre-af

Oooggs, glad the dc are asleep. I have to say cc is the only way if you have done everything else/they are not poorly etc etc.

Eddas, you sound chirpier. Fingers crossed you get something sorted on the cm front.

Bramshott, good luck with the work opportunity.

SMB, lovely news re your dh's friends wife. v sad about losing the baby at such a late stage tho

IDOC, not sure if you are still lurking, but wondered how all was with you and yours? x

Dippy, did anything ever come of the blood tests you had?

Caz, glad your dh is on the mend.

All ok here although I have awful sinus pain again and feel dreadful. Has been a hectic day today as well with one thing and another and dh is working his arse off (at home) so I am feeling somewhat put-upon. We also have a leak coming from our shower we think, and it was dripping through one of the spotlights in the kitchen. Luckily we have another bathroom with a shower, but it is still bloody annoying. If it is the shower, then I imagine they will have to rip all the wall tiles off to get to it. Bum!

Rant over.

Hope everyone is ok. x

SharpMolarBear · 13/10/2008 21:27

Oh no SOL! Hope you can get it sorted out without too much mess.

runnyhabbit · 13/10/2008 22:24

Just popping on to say hello to you all and will catch up properly soon

Love to you all
x

CaptainDippy · 14/10/2008 07:28

Oh no SOL - hope it gets sorted asap. Bum indeed.

Hope everyone slept ok for you last night oooggs.

Hope scan is ok today Leaky

Hello runny - good to "see" you

It's soooo early - yuk! Already taken DH to train station so home alone with girls now and feeling

Eddas · 14/10/2008 07:46

ffs ds has just been eating his breakfast, obviously had finished and put his bowl on his head so now he has porridge in his hair and will need a bath

CaptainDippy · 14/10/2008 08:13

Eddas!! My girls are all stropping for Britain already

Pesha · 14/10/2008 10:09

Eddas - just use a baby wipe, thats what I do!! Dylan has a very annoying habit of wiping his hands on his hair if they are dirty If I bathed him every time he had sticky hair he'd never be out the bath!!

Dippy - sorry you are Do you know i think we should all swap kids on a rotational basis, other people's dc's strops much easier to cope with than your own I find and chances of stropping and difficult behaviour much reduced with different people and all new toys!! We could all swap every couple of days and by the time we got our own back they'd be happy to see us again and would behave for a couple of days until it was time to swap again!!!

In my vanishing post yesterday Dippy I said I will attempt to sort through Maia's old clothes as soon as I can and will let you know what I have

Leaky - good luck with scan today Leaky - hope they do give you one.

And um everything else the clever remembering people said

Sooo tired today. Hit snooze on my phone alarm about 4 times before I actually got up, I was lying in bed trying to think of resons why I didnt hae to get up but couldn't come up with anything!

CaptainDippy · 14/10/2008 10:58

LOL @ your idea Pesha 1st thing that has made me today

oooggs · 14/10/2008 12:09

eddas - I agree with pesha Erin thinks ricepudding/custard/gravy/porridge is hair gel

sol - oh dear about shower - hope it isn't too bad

runny - keep up

dippy - the only person allowed to strop in this house is me

Erin woke at 9pm - had drugs medised and that was it until this morning (James did fall out of bed at 4.30am but it was quick to sort) I have insominia. Went to bed at 10pm then was either awake or snoring and woke myself up between 2am - 6am. So I am shattered.

cazboldy · 14/10/2008 13:53

haven't got time to catch up - will try to later - have had to have evt out to Mojo ( the new pony) seems he has an abscess in his foot

Eddas · 14/10/2008 13:59

pmsl, do'ya know what ds didn't have a bath I used ...........................

Baby wipes

cazboldy · 14/10/2008 14:44

Oh Eddas

I was about to come on and admit to bathing mine all the time

It's quicker and easier

Molly often has a bath after lunch

one when we come in from the farm and one before bed

SOL - Hope you get your shower sorted

CaptainDippy · 14/10/2008 15:41

PillockOfTheCommunity · 14/10/2008 19:22

Evening all
almost new thread time, get those thinking caps on

Story writing morning went well considering my lack of patience! Will post his story in a bit. Someone shout at me on Thursday night that it's book day on Friday and I have to send M in fancy dress, I'm so going to forget

Camel Hide and Seek
a story by M.C. (entirely his own work I must add, I just transcribed it!)

In the desert where there was nothing except lots of catuses lots of camels came along. There were 100 camels and they all had 2 humps. The camels played hide and seek with each other. All the camels were hiding except for 1 who was finding. The camel doing the finding couldn't ever find the camels who were hiding because they were hiding under rocks, except for their humps which were showing and looked just like hills. Eventually the camel found them all because he sat down on a hill and it moved!

The End.

wow can I book my signed copy for when he is published

what's he dressing up as?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 14/10/2008 19:50

We're cheating on that one slightly
M really doesn't do fancy dress, he isn't that keen on it.
He will, however, dress up for Halloween (I know, odd child).
Got round the problem by suggesting we buy a Skeleton outfit and he go as one of the Funnybones skeletons and then use the costume again for Halloween

OP posts:
oooggs · 14/10/2008 19:54

very clever idea I'm impressed (which is easily done )

PillockOfTheCommunity · 14/10/2008 19:57

Have a bit of a problem with M and school. Tonight he told me that the world hasn't always been here, God made it. Now, I'm happy to let those who believe that do so, but I don't. We are not followers of any religion, I guess I am spiritual in lots of ways, but I don't follow the teachings of the Bible in any way. The school is not attached to a church.
If I wanted him to be learning that God made the world I'd be taking him to Church.

So what do I do? It's Parent's Evening next week, do I mention it to the teacher then? Or do I ask if I can have a chat with her or the Head before then and ask how these things are taught? (It's a small school, 80 children in total, so I see the Head every day I take him in).

If they're teaching it in a balanced way I'm happy with that, but what do I do if they are teaching them just the one opinion?

AAARRRGGHH

I read the first bit of your post and was chuffed oooggs, then I got to the second bit

OP posts:
oooggs · 14/10/2008 20:09

we have had a God discussion tonight as well. They sing a song about Gods son, he asked what he was called, so I said Jesus, they then asked who his mum was etc... and when God was alive - argh - I know we sent him to a church school but they should be telling him those things not me, I'll get it all wrong, then he asked where dinosaurs fitted in

'wait til you see your Dad tomorrow'

Eddas · 14/10/2008 20:10

i don't think i'd be happy either potc. I'm not a believer. fine if you are but i'm not and if dc ask me, they'll be told the scientific answer to how the world was made and how we evolved. Not sure how you should approach it tbh. I think i'd mention it at parents evening, as a sort of 'oh and can I just check blah blah' way
