Just thought I'd better set up another thread as the old one is just about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mama2leah · 02/10/2008 11:02

mama2leah · 02/10/2008 11:06

disney ((( hugs)))

silly hv!!!

JODIEhadababy · 02/10/2008 11:30

disney Big Hugs to you... Your post made me cry

mama2leah When DS1 started to get eczema the HV prescribed me Hyrdromol, it clears it up in to time. For the first instance though, try not putting any soap in the water when you bathe her, and try aqueous cream on the dry spots (Or Olive Oil) See if that helps.

Poledra · 02/10/2008 11:50

Disney, HVs can be either wondeful or dreadful - sounds like yours was the latter! Still, I would take the video of Sam - I was just thinking last night I had taken no videos of Orlaith yet, and she's 11 weeks already, so I've missed all that time to have to look back on

isaidno · 02/10/2008 12:19

think my poor baby is poorly I've been ill with some sort of virus - feeling sick, crampy tummy, aching and tired. I'm better more or less, though still lacking appetite, but Poppy has been crying and crying, refusing to feed, arching as if her tummy hurts. She has fallen back asleep in the sling - I gave her calpol an hour ago so that must have kicked in. Hopefully my bf antibodies will help her fight it off - if I can persuade her to feed when she wakes up..

disneystar - I don't think your hv meant to be negative, it wouldn't hurt to make sure you take lots of photots and video of Samuel - he'll love to see himself when he's bigger. ((Hugs))

isaidno · 02/10/2008 12:21

Poledra - your dh sounds great. I think I would have to be lying unconscious in a pool of blood to get that sort of help when I was poorly!

isaidno · 02/10/2008 14:22

oh, and Happy Eid M2L!

JODIEhadababy · 02/10/2008 15:53

At the risk of sounding thick and uncultured.. What's Eid?

purplejennyrose · 02/10/2008 17:46

disney - hugs to you and Sam!

disneystar · 02/10/2008 18:03

im a hindu so things are different to me M2L apologies if wrong

DonutMum · 02/10/2008 18:50

Hi All, Eid is to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Great fun! Ramadan not so much.

Mum and Dad off home tonight so it's just me, DH and the boys now all on our own in Bahrain! Am a bit worried but sure we'll cope.

Oh, and L slept through the night last night! Yay!

ponto · 02/10/2008 21:19

Pigley, Bryony's reflux is still upsetting her, thanks for asking. I followed Disney's tip of dropping the gripewater onto her tongue tonight, instead of squirting it into her cheek, and she actually puckered her lips up and sucked it out of the syringe! I am completely amazed, never thought it would work (sorry disney ). She was in bed by 8.30 tonight, which is a lot better than the last couple of nights when she's been screaming, burping and sicking up bits of milk till 10.

On the plus side, her sticky eye at last seems to be improving spontaneously - we tried everything, even antibiotic drops in the end, but it was just resolutely discharging loads of green gunge, until today, when I have only had to wipe it once. The workings of babies' bodies are a mystery to me!

disneystar · 03/10/2008 07:43

ponto its an amazing little trick isnt it
i only know that as samuel cant swallow properly and the feeding clinic taught me new things
so glad it works for her and makes you happier

mama2leah · 03/10/2008 09:28

JODIEhadababy · 03/10/2008 14:38

Mama2leah What does she need to know? (it's amazing what you forget and so quickly isn't it!)

EEC · 03/10/2008 15:11

Hello all.

Finally got my hair cut today and feel loads better for it. I was really looking like a fright before. Rory was an angel, awake the whole time, but a complete flirt, smiling at all the girls - I didn't need to look after him at all!

He's also sleeping so much better. He's been so windy and up so many times every night that I have finally succumbed to formula feeding - I still bf a bit, but mostly bottle now and the last two nights he has only woken up once . I feel bad as I had intended to bf for at least 6 months, but he was so hungry all the time, and the bottle seems to have done the trick. A week ago he was up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours in the night and last night he went down at 7.30, woke for a feed at 2.30 them slept til 7. I can't believe it! He is so adorable at the moment. It seems as though sticking to a sort of flexible routine is doing the trick (if that makes sense).

Up and feeding at 7, nap during school run. Feed 10 - 10.30, longer nap (about 1 1/2 hours), feed again 1.30ish. Short nap. A smaller feed at 4.30ish. short nap. Feed again 7 ish. bed at 8. All very flexible.

He's 10 weeks tomorrow and no giggles or laughs yet, although plenty of smiles. Can't wait for the first laugh.

Disney - thinking of you as always. Big hugs.

isaidno - hope you both feel better soon.

mama2leah- R had a cold last week. it's miserable isn't it? i put the cot on a tilt and this seemed to help.

must go - R crying....

mama2leah · 03/10/2008 15:15

she jus wanted general advice, i sed cum to mumsnet! lol!

pigleychez · 03/10/2008 19:43

M2L- Glad you had a good Eid.

Isaidno- Sorry to hear poppy isnt 100%

Ponto-Glad things are improving with Byronys reflux.

EEC- Lucky you sleeping better

Im feeling pretty stressed right now!
For the past few days Abigail has decided to fight her sleep. She can be dead tired but will just fight it for ages. Its not even a cry just an annoying whiny noise. Very draining. Finally dropped off now after whinging for about an hour! Whatever you try to pacify her doesnt work. Shes also not sleeping so well during the night. Instead of going 10/11 till 5/6 now we are lucky if we reach 4.30! Even been 2.30 twice this week. I dont know whats changed all of a sudden.
Last night she woke for a feed at 2.30 then dispite being still tired, she grumped and whined till almost 4 am.
Im really tired and to top it off I have my period so not in the best of moods. - Sorry to rant
Anyone any ideas as to why things have suddenly changed? Nothing day to day has changed.

isaidno · 03/10/2008 20:29

Poppy's better now it was a short lived illness - about 3 hours! I'm not too bad either.

Pigley - as babies get older they find the world more distracting, and seem to have more difficulty switching off. I find with Poppy sometimes she is best left to whinge on her own for 5 mins - I don't mean left to cry to sleep, but often the shushing, patting, rocking and fussing becomes counter productive.

As for the night feeds perhaps she is having a growth spurt. Are you bf or ff now? I don't really know much about ff.

disneystar · 03/10/2008 22:26

i agree with isaidno about the sleep issue
samuel likes to self soothe in the night if i fussed him it would disturb him, they all moan an whinge and grumble as they get older basically because they can,new noises to make and things they have learned
just when you think youve got it sussed the lil guys go change the rules
im a believer in self soothing for babies ive never left any of my babies to cry but a real cry is different to a moan or whinge

JODIEhadababy · 04/10/2008 07:40

Isaidno Glad to hear Poppy is better

Pigley I agree with Isaidno and disney, sometimes they just want to be left alone. In the night I leave Sam if he wakes too early until he really cries, 9 times out of 10 he drops back off again. At this age he is starting to see abit further and evrything's getting all abit more exciting, why would she want to sleep?????? How old is she now? I found that Sam had 'growth spurts' at 6, 10 and 13 weeks, and now I'm 'weaning' him onto Hungry Baby milk as he goes 4 hours with a bottle of HB and only 2 - 2/12 with normal stuff.....

Mummywannabe · 04/10/2008 13:56

HI all sorry been missing for weeks!

I agree with the self soothing, seems like this week Max had needed to do this (he is 12 weeks) also started waking more reguarly in the night, putting it down to a growth spurt. He is out with daddy today, i'm supposed to be revising (big exam for degree on monday), finding it so so hard to study!

pigleychez · 04/10/2008 17:23

Hi all

Thanks for the advice. She is usually really good at settling herself. Just yesterday it was like she was a completely different child. In the evening she was sooo tired that she was just screaming her head off... nothing would settle her, not even her beloved swing!
She was alittle warm so gave her calpol thinking she also be abit under the weather and that seemed to help her go off to sleep Eventually!

Oddly enough after going to bed she slept through till 5.30... which is back to what she was doing last week. Whether the calpol helped towards this we will soon see tonight.

Shes been a star again today so not sure what the past few days has been about. Maybe she wasnt 100%- who knows!
Fingers crossed we continue being back to our happy little bunny again.

Mummywannabe- Good luck with the exam!

What a grim weekend with all the rain!

isaidno · 04/10/2008 19:56

pigley - have you had vaccinations this week? That can affect them for a few days.

pigleychez · 04/10/2008 20:21

Isaidno-
