Heya swotty, no real scares with girls, think I am just too knackered to be phased by it all now! Ds is much improved but rather whingey now. Hopefully it will all be a distant memory by next weekend!

beansprout · 11/11/2008 18:11

(whispers) hello everyone, tis I, the absent bean. Hope you are all ok (esp Toby).

Sorry I haven't been around, it gets harder to get back in as there is so much to catch up on!

Am back at work on Monday and ds2 had a bad time trying to settle in at the CM's yesterday so am feeling very pants indeed about it all. I know it will be ok in a while but knowing that he is crying for me has to be one of the worst feelings in the world.

Anyway, am going to make much more of an effort to keep up with the February posse!!

omy · 11/11/2008 20:06

Ginger - so glad toby is OK = you poor things xx

Bean - feeling your sadness re work - how many days are you doing? At the mo we are surviving on my part time salary as DH has hardly any work - so I can't really moan about work!

Oh my God - I miss x factor and look what happens! I don't think I can watch now...tho it is addictive.....

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 11/11/2008 21:18

Welcome back beany, sorry to hear your DS2 is having trouble settling, i amsure he will have a great time with the CM,

Hi too u omy, how are things going?

Hello to anyone else lurking, its very quiet atm xxx

sallyforth · 11/11/2008 21:21

Hello beany, going back to work is utter pants I agree. I have been back 3 weeks. Really really miss my LO although it IS nice to be using the thinking part of my brain rather than the mum bit, which seems to run on instinct and emotion alone!

sallyforth · 11/11/2008 21:22

btw no offence meant to any mums who are at home - I am sure the thinking parts of your brains are working just fine! it's just that mine went into hibernation while on mat leave!

Egg · 12/11/2008 13:30

Hello all. I hate missing a few days, I struggle to keep up...

Sally I assure you my brain does not work properly. I would never be able to hold down a job at the mo.

Beany, great to see you . Good luck back at work. Is DS1 at the same childminder? Or is he at nursery? Sorry I can't remember .

Ginger glad Toby is doing well. Hope you are getting back to normal now. DS2 has had a very bad cough and a really high temp yesterday but ok again today (well, just back to having a cough and cold and being grumpy!).

Egg · 12/11/2008 13:34

Oh and as for X Factor...

Well.

I loved Daniel at the first audition, and still like him but he would only end up like Steve Brookstein if he managed to win it.

Diana, thought she was great at first, but she is highly annoying now.

JLS, thought they were pretty naff at first, now they are growing on me.

Eoggggggghhhan, whilst looking like DS1 (but with ridiculous hair), I don't think he is good enough. Although think he might win anyway.

Rachel, seems to have lost her ability to sing.

Alexandra, fabulous voice, lovely girl, but a bit dull (not her personality but just another Leona Lewis type singer)

Ruth, for some reason she made my skin crawl when she had her hideous backcombed hairpsprayed hair in the beginning. Am liking her a bit more now, but her baps are taking over a bit, they seem to hang out a bit more each week.

Is that everyone?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/11/2008 16:03

WOOOOOHHHHHOOOOOOO- WE HAVE FINALLY GOT A TOOTH, top left and we are really pleased !!!!!

Hi everyone xxxxx

Egg · 12/11/2008 16:12

Yay! Well done Rosie!

Anyone got any advice on breaking DS1's obsession (serious addiction) to his Blankie?

Egg · 12/11/2008 16:13

Forgot to say. DD laughed for the first time this week . Obviously most babies laugh at about 3 months but she never did (she smiles and looks happy but never laughed) but DS1 got her laughing a couple of days ago and is doing it again now! YAYAYAYAAAY!

beansprout · 12/11/2008 16:24

Yay to Egg's dd laughing!!

Ds1 is at a nursery, 3 days a week and ds2 will be going to a CM. I know he'll be fine, it's just getting through the sh*t bit.

I have no idea who anyone is on X factor as am glued to Strictly - is anyone else watching that? I'm voting for John Sargeant, natch....

missnatalie · 12/11/2008 17:12

Yay to Rosie and her 1st tooth and Yay to eggs dd for laughing. So sweet

I took Henley to be weighed yesterday and hes a whopping 22lb 2.5oz . Actually i dont know why im shocked cos hes blardy heavy. My arms havnt been this toned since i was 18 .

The FILs op to remove his cancerous tumour has been brought forward to next Monday. DP is really scared. Hes hardly said anything since he found out. I dont know what to say to him. Just going to give him lots of cuddles and be here for him just incase the worst happens (theres a very good chance his dad may not make it through the op).

Talking of obsessions egg, Henley is OBSESSED with in the night garden. He wont eat anything unless In the Night Garden is on the tele. So that means im having to watch it 3-4 times a day. Ive series linked it on sky+.

He's really loving the Organix crunchy carrot sticks at the moment. We went to sainsburys lastnight and bad mummy me forgot to take his bottle. When he started screaming for it i grabbed the healthiest looking snack i could find and he loved them so much that he ate the whole packet . Hes sat next to me now happily chomping through another packet.

Hope everyone is ok xxxxxxx

omy · 12/11/2008 19:42

Yay to laughing and first tooth! no idea what to do about obsession - I think you just ride it out and make sure you have a spare in case of emergencies!

We are due a tooth - the bottom has suddenly got sore a red looking LO seems to be eating everything in sight and is getting quite fat!

lol at Henley scoffing a packet of carrot sticks.

Beany - sending lots of hugs to you.

bovrilsarnies · 12/11/2008 20:03

Congrats on teeth and laughing!

Seren too has just produced her 2 top front teeth in the last week. Now she has 2 top and 2 bottom teeth, her favourite passtime is grinding them.......... But she still has not yet laughed!! she does smile a lot though and make sort of "ha" noises.

MissNat - you're not alone with a chunky monkey baby! Seren was weighed yesterday and is now 25lb at 37 weeks!!!! The Health visitor said to me to try and get her back in between the lines of the graph - but not sure how to do that.... does she think I should just feed her every other day or something???

Sorry to all you chaps back at / going back to work! I'm not due to go back till Feb, but I'm not at all sure if I want to go back!!

gingermumi · 12/11/2008 20:20

Toby has 7 (yes 7) teeth, we went from nothing to 5, then 7- be warned! he now thinks it's funny to bite! No real obsessions but he does have an unhealthy interest in nipples - not fussy on gender - i think i might have breat fed for too long

gingermumi · 12/11/2008 20:22

BTW was that your dh on The One Show beany?

alkar · 13/11/2008 08:28

DS loves those carrot sticks too missnat, have you tried the sweetcorn rings - much less mess

beansprout · 13/11/2008 10:03

Bovril - ds2 grind his teeth too! It's one of those noises I can't stand.

Ginger - yep, that was dh, being interview by Gyles Brandreth no less. What a nob (GB that is, not dh). They shared a cab back to the station and GB asked dh if he minded if they didn't sit together as he had such a lot of work to do. As if dh wanted to be seen with him, let along spend 3 hours talking to him!!!

Have just dropped ds2 off at the CM again. She ushered me out of the door pretty quickly so now I am home alone! Am getting a million things done and distracting myself like mad. This is my last day of maternity leave (ever!). Sniff.

Egg · 13/11/2008 10:06

Beany Giles Brandreth seems to feature heavily in your/your DH's lives!!!

Wish I had seen him. I often do catch end of One Show but missed it yesterday.

As for GB. He really does sound like a complete and utter nob.

missnatalie · 13/11/2008 11:52

Bovril Henley also grinds his teeth as does DP. DP tends to do it more in his sleep. The noise just goes through me especially when they both decide to do it at the same time aaarrrggghh. Lol, at feeding DD every other day . You just cant win when it comes to HVs IMO.

When i took Henley to be weighed on Tuesday i was questioned about the bruise on his bum, leg and head . When i told her he's toddling and bound to get bruises and bumps she said that "i need to be more carefull with him and not let him out of my sight" . What does she think i do, leave him alone in the house whilst i go on a shopping spree and brunch with my none existant friends!! Im sure she thought that id been beating him up too .

alker will try the sweetcorn ones. These carrot ones are very messey.

Hope everryone is ok today xx

Egg · 13/11/2008 12:03

Missnat good luck to FIL for next Monday. I know he is a to**er but hope for your DPs sake that it goes ok.

The sweetcorn ones are definitely less messy. DS1 prefers the carrot ones, but likes both, and DTs get one or two if they are lucky (DS1 is not keen on sharing them). However as DS1 is at nursery today they got about 3 each while they were screaming waiting patiently for their lunch.

Puking issues are soooooooooooooo much better (touch wood) since we cut out morning bottle (that's a relief too to have only 6 bottles per day instead of 8), and also we thickened up their food. They are getting more homemade food and less Plum Baby, and so saving money too (but not time). However am making double double quantities each time I cook something for them so they get it again the next day (freezer is a bit overfull). On Mondays I can make more and managed to make 8 portions of fishpie for them. Then found out they had fishpie at nursery on Monday too......

Ginger we have 7 teeth too! But between two babies. DS2 has four and DD has three (she grew a new one overnight!). DD grinds hers a lot, making hideous gurning faces while she does it.

Forgot to weigh babies again after their bath today, but will do it at weekend and see where they are at. I think DS2 is 21lbs and DD is 15lbs.

Oops, just noticed DS2 is standing on DD. She is not complaining but it's only a matter of time.....

missnatalie · 13/11/2008 13:10

Right thats it. Ive got to lose some weight. Just been on my Wii Fit board and im obease . I knew i was overweight but not obease. Ive never been a skinny mini and always wore a size 12-14 but now im in a 16 . Although my size 16 jeans are too big on the bum and thighs but fit perfectly on the waist. Ive got this horrible mummy tummy that just will not budge.

Has anyone else got the fit board? Mine tells me that in roughly 13st 9lb when im at home but when i take it upto my mums im 9lb lighter . And when i weigh myself on the bathroom scales or at the docs in always between 14st 4-6lb . Think it might be broke.

Im going to try and not weigh myself anymore and just go off how my cloths feel. Id love to get down to a jean size 14 for the new yr and my 26th birthday.

Any tips on losing weight would be greatly appreciated ladies .

beansprout · 13/11/2008 13:47

Have just picked up ds2 from the CM and he had a much, much better time today. Just cried a bit when I left but definitely moving in the right direction. Now I just have standard mummy guilt to deal with and not the horrific version.

missnatalie - shifting weight is never easy. I have gone in for the long haul and basically walk everywhere (with ds2 in a sling), don't eat between meals (or fruit if I really have to) and watch portion sizes. Gym etc is not a realistic option for me so I just try and stay as active as possible. PITA though!

omy · 13/11/2008 14:12

Bovril and missnat - not sure how much we weigh over here but it is alot! she is getting rather porky - I am worried I am feeding her too much! maybe we should try every other day too! (lol)

Am at work waiting for parents evening and just rang dh and LO to chat - feeling v guilty that he is relaxing in front of TV watching LO crawl around and play. Why do you always want what you haven't got? On the days I am at home I start to go a bit bonkers by the afternoon!

Good luck on weight loss nat - I have no tips - except have lots of healthy food around and no cakes or biscuits in the house! When I am organised I make up some yummy salads in the morning before I get hungry so they are what I reach for when i do get hungry! Tea and coffee is my downfall as i always want a choc or biscuit to go with. I should stick to water!

Am impressed with all those teeth! none here yet!
WHO IS giles brandreth???
