omg - i knew i had spent narcissit wrong but had no idea just how wrong i'd got it....

Egg · 10/10/2008 10:55

Oh I wish I had not let myself get so far behind with the thread.

HOpe everyone is ok. Princess I was to read that half a bottle is not a danger to a toddler! I have only used NHS direct twice and they have been great, but have heard others say they are useless.

DS2 threw up again yesterday. I have a suspicious feeling he might be allergic to celery/celeriac.

Will promise to do a proper post at lunchtime.

strawberrycornetto · 10/10/2008 13:31

Egg, I know what you mean! I think sometimes you just have to start again What makes you think your DS2 is allergic to celery?

SB, I remember being in sainsburys when I was pregnant with DD and there was nothing I could face eating. Hope you feel better soon. With DD, I ate packets of mini eggs and cadbury chocolate fingers....

Egg · 10/10/2008 13:45

Strawb I will copy and paste the long winded explanation I just bored my other MN pals with . It was prob coincidence, will have to test it again when I am feeling brave.

I cant remember what I ate to combat the nausea. Will have to look at our old threads. I walked round wearing cool and stylish travel sickness bands all day and night though. Ugh.

Egg · 10/10/2008 13:50

So this is what I just typed on other thread. It was probably a coincidence though!

-----------

He threw up everywhere last night after supper. He ate a good meal, but as soon as he had finished he screamed and screamed at the top of his voice, then threw up all overhimself and the carpet, then screamed for about another 15 mins solid, it was a disaster, I spent ages scrubbing the carpet with dettol while he screamed then I was trying to comfort him but then DD started screaming too, so I went over to her, smelt she had pooed herself, lay her down to get her changed and then realised it was foul poo that came out the back of her nappy and all over the carpet... so got her changed ad then spent ages with the dettol and scrubbing brush again, with both DTs still screaming at full volume. Went over to poor naked DS2 who was sitting shivering wrapped in a blanket, and he had also pooed himself, and it had come out of the front of his nappy, cue more dettol and scrubbing.....

Poor DS1 just sat looking shell shocked watching Postman Pat Special Delivery Service.

Both DTs screamed literally nonstop until I gave them their milk, when DS2 fell asleep on the bottle at 6pm. He did wake up again briefly, but then went to bed at 6:30 and slept for 12 hours plus.

BTW, I have an inkling they might be allergic to celery/celeriac, as it was in the pot of food they had, and I have noticed they both have gone a bit red and excema-ish after this food before. It is spinach, salmon and parsnip but with a few other bits in, and I know the three main ingredients are ok as we dont normally get reactions from any of them. I looked online and found celery is a fairly common (and sometimes severe) thing to be allergic to. Ho hum. DD was bright red and really blotchy all over her face afterwards, but not sure if it was because of the long screaming fit!

Sorry - bit long winded.......

strawberrycornetto · 10/10/2008 15:39

Egg, that sounds hellish! Celery is a really common allergen isn't it, so you may well be right. Not surprised you don't really want to try it again though...

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 10/10/2008 15:42

oooohhhhhh Egg, you just have been beside yourself with them bit screaming, bless them xxxx

Have they both been ok today? i bet u were so glad to see your dh when he got home ((((( big hugs))))) for you all, xxxx

sallyforth · 10/10/2008 18:16

hello everyone, sorry have not posted for a little while, have been busy with nursery tryouts as a prelude to going back to work

Actually DS seems fine at nursery so that is a relief. The only thing is he seems to prefer the taste of EBM to that of formula... looks like I will be giving Medela a ring to rent one of their super duper breast pumps for a while...

We had savings with Icesave as well. Seemed like the rate was too good to be true, well turns out it was. Apparently the UK govt has said it will guarantee the savings British investors had, even though it's not a UK bank. "Even if they have to go to court to get the money" Do not really understand this whole credit crunch thing, or how it is going to affect us.

swottybetty · 10/10/2008 18:20

ker-ist egg, that sounds horrible poor you. i think i would have been rocking in a corner by poo no. 2.

sarah i hope you found something to wear! have a good night. do you know dh and i have not been out together once since dd born

Gill79 · 10/10/2008 21:27

OMG Egg what a day.

Off to Sardinia tomorrow for a week. We're half packed -I flew back from Scotland at 7am today to find the house with only two inhabitable rooms due to building work and having to unpack, repack etc. Oh well, shouldn't complain!

Hope that everyone whose family has threatened savings has more reassuring news soon....

OP posts:
strawberrycornetto · 10/10/2008 22:05

Sarah, hope you enjoy your evening and found something fab to wear.

Sally, my DS seems to love nursery. I am expressing at work and its a pain but not as bad as I feared.

Swotty, DH and I have hardly been out either. Dh has gone out with my best friend and her DH tonight and left me at home babysitting, despite fact he had a night out in San Franciso with his friend this week and I have been at work all day. Am v unhappy with things between us at the moment and don't really know how to broach it with him. I am watching desperate housewives - how appropriate....

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 11/10/2008 08:08

hi everyone,

had a good nite out, didn't win the raffle though DH had his eye on a huge wide screen tv!!!!!lol

Met some lovely people from DH's work and we have decided to go out again for xmas!!!!!

i feel really lucky that dh and i have manged to keep a social life (however is an expensive game now!!!), we have been out a few times and its nice to have some time together out of the house, (i am very lucky as my parents and sister are 5 mins away and are always happy to babysit etc( the inlaws not so keen but thats fine!!!!!lol)

was not drunk- was very surprised got home just after midnight, the Dc's have had me up to about an hour so cant grumble!!!!

Have a great weekend eveyone xxxxx

strawberrycornetto · 11/10/2008 20:04

Glad you had a good time. My parents also babysit for us which is great, we have a night out on Wednesday although we haven't made any plans yet.

Had a good day today, swimming in the morning and park in the afternoon. DH is cooking me dinner now, to make up for being mean to me last night.

MammaK · 11/10/2008 20:56

Hello everyone,
Feeling very ashamed of myself, asked to join this thread sometime ago and have hardly been here! Have tried to read as much as I can tonight & couldnt possibly reply to all but you are all in my thoughts & I wish you good sleep with dreams of Tom & Austin..!

Im really struggling after returning to work. The first week went well but then realised that it was hitting me towards the end of the day, feeling tired and down.

I know that being so sad still about leaving DD to work full time has had a massive impact on my motivation. DD is an angel sleeps about 11 hours straight each night even when teething (1 totthy-peg & counting...) I devote all my time and energy to her in an evening when I get back from work, then when she's down for the night I eat & tidy - settling down to do some work about 9/9.30. Problem is this is when the sadness from the day catches up with me as I can't let myself think about it at work. I hardly get anything done compared to before my gorgeous girlie came along. I know she is happy & content with the family/nursery arrangements - it's me that's struggling.
Any good (legal)ideas for getting through this 'so-much-harder-than-I-ever-imagined' time? xxx

MammaK · 11/10/2008 20:57

toothy peg!

gingermumi · 11/10/2008 21:01

so sorry some are suffering because of the financial problems, no savings here (only debts ;)) so no worries for a change! Taking ds to have underwater pix done tomorrow, hopefully will make some good xmas pressies for family. DS is sooo cute at the moment, he's trying to crawl but just can't get it together. once he does, of course, i'll wish he didnt! Am trying to get dd to do her homework (which she isn't doing at all) and have been told it's none of my business (which, I guess it isn't). teenagers!

gingermumi · 11/10/2008 21:08

congrats on tooth mamma. Am worst person to advise on being at work! Have been back since September (i teach) and really hate leaving ds. Would much rather be with him than a load of teenagers (see last post ). Don't get me wrong I DO like my job but I LOVE being with DS so much more! I try to look at it that we actually couldn't manage if I didn't work and ds gets to meet lots of other little ones which he wouldn't do with me (or not so much, anyway) and do stuff i would never think of (or do in my living room) Like put his feet in a dish of rich crispies (Tactile activites this week at nursery). I work part-time which is a good balance. Do you work full-time? If you do could you adapt it so you could work shorter hours? Just a thought.

MammaK · 12/10/2008 00:28

Same here gingermumi no savings and I teach!
The mantra of needing the money (not able to reduce hours)is helping me through the day but the planning & assessment that I used to steam through each evening is taking so long at the moment. Typically there is extra pressure at the mo due to LEA bods regulary scrutinising planning & books. I really do love my job, just wasn't ready to go back.
Underwater photos sound a real laugh may take pudding for a swim tomorrow to cheer myself up, cheers hon!

alkar · 12/10/2008 06:57

For some very weird reason I woke up at 6.30 this morning. Wide awake and no chance of more sleep!

Hope the photo goes well today ginger. We have just had ours framed and it looks so good

I was thinking of getting DS a trike for christmas. Has anyone got one or had one before I dont know which one to choose

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/10/2008 08:55

morning all,

Mamma K. dont fret about being away for so long, we are all just sooooo busy!!!!! Sorry you are struggling going back to work, i cant offer any advise to really as i am lucky to be at home all day with the DC's then go to work at 5-45 to start work at 6pm., home at 9pm, it works well for us but not for everyone, (before DD i was a sahm so the extra cash is good but i also like the break from the house and stress!!!!!)

Hope you photos go well today ginger, they sound great i remeber looing at alkars a while back, We are going to have a family photo sessin next sat and cannot wait!!! again they will be fab xmas pressies!!!

Alkar- you are not right- wide awake so early

hi to everyone else hope we are all well,

Oh DD is crawling backwards and getting extremely annoyed!!!!lol she just wants to stnd up all the time!!! still no teeth but she is happy all the time so not even sure if they are bothering her!!!lol

leesmum · 12/10/2008 09:46

Hi Ladies! Apologies for not being on in ages, i'm on sis's laptop because i let ds1 have a go on our comp and stupidly gave him a drink at the same time ...and yes he spilt it all over!! anyway Dp wasn't happy and we had a few words, well i only had two and they began with F and O !!!

Anyway new laptop will/should/better had be arriving later this week (phew!) so i'll catch up properly (thats if i'm allowed a go on it lol)

Hope you and all your families are well, our gang is fine xxx

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 12/10/2008 11:43

pmsl lees mum- i bet you dh was mad!!!!!! lol

kids do the best things dont they!!!!heehee

lovely to hear from you and i hope your new laptop will be with u soon xxxx

rozzyraspberry · 12/10/2008 14:07

6.45 is a long lie for me alkar!!! We've got lo one of these 'smart' trikes which can be used from 10m. Didn't have one for other 2 but thought he would like going on that when the other 2 are on their bikes. It has a lot of good reviews on the product reviews on here - I think it looks good anyway - got ours from elc when we got a 20% off elc code a few weeks back.

Off to a kids party soon - 3-5 which is a bit of a pain as I'll have to give ds3 his solids there cause it'll be too late when we get back. Dc are excited though and it's our old neighbours so it'll be nice to catch up.

Social life - what's that? I have not been out since ds3 was born. He's just been so unpredictable with the feeding but I am planning going out soon. Our parents live 1/2 an hour away and still work full-time so I don't really like to ask them to baby sit although I know they wouldn't mind.

Got the last of pre-pregnancy clothes out of loft yesterday - mainly work stuff and underwired bras. Decided to spend 1/2 hour tidying my wardrobe and drawers - 2 hours later had filled 4 black bin bags - there was stuff I hadn't worn for years!! I was surprised that my pre-pregnancy bras seem to fit me so am now sure I will have no boobs left when I stop bf - may have to invest in chicken fillets for a while!

Anyway better get off and get organised!! Take care everyone.

LOVEMYMUM · 12/10/2008 18:27

Hi.

Katie also loves to stand up all the time!
