Hello everyone - came on for a bit of sympathy but it seems we're not the only ones suffering! We've all had the tummy bug and me and DP were really ill with it - in fact we couldn't go home from our holiday! DP had to delay a day and then drove back to London but I was still too poorly and so me and DS are now staying in Glasgow with the PILs until Friday. They've been really good to us -his mum got up to me loads in the night when I was nearly dying, then took a day off work to look after me plus they've bought a high chair and a car seat to make life a bit easier. Oh and DS did not get it too badly at all -one massive chunder that soaked us both and then just a bit grumpy. My milk seems to be really low though so am really hoping am able to get it going again when I'm eating properly. My brother's here looking after him today as not got the physical energy to do it on my own.

On the subject of remotes / phones etc I gave DS an old handset as he is so obsessed with eating mine. It didn't work of course as not shiny and new and flashy.

Lovemymum your DH's family sound scary - do not like the idea of women who are high achievers at cleaning! (I am bottom of the class)

Rozzy - you replied a while ago about all the bf'ing I'm doing at night - I'm trying to cut down so as not to be doing it during the daytime but even if I did he would still wake up at night for it. HOWEVER I slept in another room when I was sick and so DP dealt with him when he woke up and he only had a bit of juice in the night. Then last night he slept from about 8 until 3 - hooray! Here's hoping it continues.

Count (I think?) - Congrats on the crawling. We're still not quite there despite intensive coaching from the PILs. He's trying to get onto his feet not his knees though so probably going to go around like a monkey!

MissNat - congrats on your neice's birth and also OMG what a lot of teeth!

Tyaca - thanks for the halfmara offer but NO. I trashed my knees doing a half marathon a few years ago and am now going to take things very very slowly!

Ok crying little guy next door better go!xx

hi everyone,

Gill sorry to hear you have been poorly too, it def is doing the rounds, hope you all feel better really soon xxxxx

Hi to everyone else, hope all well, not got much to say really,

congrats to becoming an auntie miss nat, hope all is well with your sis and bil and their baby boy, xxxx

Gill79 · 07/10/2008 19:49

oh and Egg meant to say bad luck on DS2 getting it too....

Have just had an absolutely exhausting day. My bro being here didn't make a massive difference as Malc decided he would be shouting if I wasn't holding him. And if I was holding him he would be trying to throw himself out of my arms constantly. Since Sunday lunchtime all I've had to eat is a croissant, a packet of crisps and a kitkat so not really best equipped to deal with the worst he had to throw at me. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Poor Gill and little Malcolm. Sounds like your in-laws had their hands full (unintentional pun there).

Am feeling MUCH better about my in-laws now. They can live their life and I'll live mine.

strawberrycornetto · 07/10/2008 23:13

Hello. Gill, poor you, hope you feel better soon. Nat, congratulations on your nephew. Hope everyone else is well. Tyaca, how are you feeling?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 08/10/2008 15:10

god its quiet where are you all????

hope everyone is ok

missnatalie · 08/10/2008 16:59

Thanks for the congrats on my new nephew everyone. I cant wait to see him. My sis has sent me loads of pics but its not the same.

How is everyone today? It is quite on here.

Ive spent the whole day shampooing all our downstairs carpets. Cream carpets and a baby dont mix too well.

I think that Henley's reflux may have come back. He cant seem to keep any solids down at the moment.Well i say any, he is keeping his breakfast porridge down but will only take 5 soonfuls max before he starts screaming. At dinner and tea time ive been giving him jars of the Hipp stuff. At one time he would scoff the lot, but now he takes 4 or 5 spoonfuls starts screaming and then does a massive puke followed by 2 or 3 more tiny pukes all over my cream carpets. Aaaarrrggghh. Im not too bothered about the carpet to be honest, just cleaning it is a pain.

Ive still got a few sachets of the infant Gaviscon he wa prescribed last time. Think ill give that a go and see if it helps. If not its back to the docs.

Nothing much more to add really. Hope everyone and your LOs are ok.

missnatalie · 08/10/2008 17:02

Ops forgot to say. Henley has now figured out how to climb the stairs. I went in the kitchen for less than a minute to finish off my cup of tea and when i came back he was half way up the stairs. I couldnt beleive it. I shouted his name and made him jump and he almost fell back down. Looks like its back to Toys r Us for a safety gate.

swottybetty · 08/10/2008 17:12

your inlaws sound fab gill. fingers crossed you;re thru the worst of it. same too to egg x x

missnatalie congrats to your sis and sorry to hear about the reflux. apart from bananas, i'm staying well clear of fruit i think after our apple pots problem.

strawbcornetto -- you are psychic / today is the first day i feel awful. sick and tired. think its rubbed off on dd who's gone psycho not sleeping. the only way she'd kip today was with me in her room with puff magic dragon playing on loop .... i brought duvet and pillow in and managed to kip with her... luckily dh managed to get home for half an hour and has taken her screaming and crying out for a walk. then he;s back out til 11pm. ah well, at least i get to watch supernanny which'd never happen with himn here.....

princessllama · 08/10/2008 19:43

tyaca it's your other name again. i'm also looking forward to supernanny, dh will be back at 8.30 and will be hard to turn it off even though haven't seen him much since sunday. hope you get a good night's sleep, remember feeling v sorry for myself at your stage last time sitting in the rocking chair in h's room, nodding off for a few minutes at a time and praying that hope wouldn't need me to get down on the floor with her.
reading your posts gill i'm now praying we don't get the bug, sounds vicious. ferdie has been really clingy too, can't put him down for long before he's crying and his sleeping is not so great either.
missnat ferdie's reflux i think has got worse too, just today i started him back on one of the medicines i'd taken him off. he's being sick all the time too, everything is getting covered-yuk.
we've had a hair raising 24 hours since my dad announced that half his life savings are with a company that got sold up to an icelandic bank 3 years ago. rang dh instantly (as he's an economist). dh virtually screaming get it out. dad then starts to try this am, 2 hours later the icelandic bank went bust .nightmare. he already lost his pension with equitable life.

strawberrycornetto · 08/10/2008 20:23

Hello. SB, sorry, I didn't mean to tempt fate! How many weeks are you? I found the first half of the first trimester was the worst bit if that's any consolation.

Nat, I really sympathise with the sickness. DS is still sick all the time too. When do they grow out of it?

Princess, I'm so sorry for your dad. This whole thing is such a nightmare.

I've enjoyed my first part time day off. It was a bit hectic and of course work interrupted but I so appreciated being with DS. I had really missed him. Working at home tomorrow then back in the office on Friday.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 08/10/2008 21:18

ooohhhh hello, its good to see some of you on here!!!

Sorry we have lots of sicky babies at the mo, i just have a notty one!!!! bought a karvol plug and its fab, DD sleeping through so thats a bonus and i am sure its coz she can breathe easier,

princess sorry about your dads money hope he can save it, its so hard atm isn't it, what a worry xxxx

i am off to bed me thinks, have had central heating on and its made me tired!!!!lol

Gill79 · 08/10/2008 21:32

Princess I'm not sure from your post if your dad got his money out or not.... cripes.

SB it is wierd having you with a new name! Hope the sickness doesn't last too long.

still feeling really yuk. good night!

OP posts:
alkar · 09/10/2008 09:17

Any news on your dad princess, its a horrible situation for everyone at the moment. Guess we are lucky having no savings at all

DS has become very clingy. He seems to have a cold and lots of awful nappies - not the best when you have reusables! Managed to get him to sleep at 9.30 last night then DH came home and woke him up . It took ages getting hm back to sleep, had to let him fall asleep in my bed then put him in his cot. Thankfully it worked and he slept til 7.30. He's asleep again now and I can't decide whether to go back to bed myself or not???

strawberrycornetto · 09/10/2008 11:01

Hope everyone is feeling better today. We all seem to be quite healthy at the moment, but since DS has just started nursery, I am just waiting for him to be struck down by all the horrible nursery bugs.

Princess, hope your Dad has had some good news. I am like Alkar, no savings to worry about but you can't help but think we will all end up affected one way or the other.

I am working at home today. Its my first day of doing it and so far I am being really efficient and enjoying it.

ruva · 09/10/2008 12:38

Hi ladies and little ones'
I have missed u all and all your wisdom, finally had my internet fixed after 6 months only for the company to say it was not connected to the modem properly any way now will have to catch up with you all, saba has two teeth and is a wiggler everytime iam changing him he goes on all fours so the changing table is to be made redundant, also i cant cope with all the baby equipment i dont know if i should keep it for the "2nd one but when?

rozzyraspberry · 09/10/2008 13:37

Aargh - so much sickness you poor things. Hope you're all feeling better soon and your lo's stop throwing up too!!

Hope your dad gets his money out Princess. My parents have been affected quite badly too. My mum works at HBOS and over the years has been putting part of her salary into their share save scheme. They don't own a house as my dad works on a farm and has a tied cottage. Anyway, all these shares they had were meant to be a bit of a nest egg for when they retired but they've dropped from £10 each to I think around £2/£3 now. On the plus side she only has 2 years until she retires and she's hoping that if they're looking to cut staff once they're taken over by lloyds she'll get the chance of going early. She's ever hopeful anyway!!

Holidays here for the next 2 weeks so I'll have to think of ways to entertain the kids!

swottybetty · 09/10/2008 14:56

ugh - credit crunching stuff. princess and rozzy, sure most of the money will be recovered but i hope for your parents sake it happens sooner rather than later so uncertainty came be knocked on the head.

heya ruva nice to hear from you, rest assured you have not missed too much wisdom in the last six sleep deprived months .

alkar and sarah sorry to hear about down in the dumps lo's. hopefully on the mend now. gill are you still at your ILs?

strawberry - yes, i was always v efficient at home.... motivated by an uneasy (and misplaced) guilt! i am six weeks or seven weeks .... got away lightly last time, not sick at all. we're off to sainsburys in an hour and i think i need to completley rewrite shopping list. cooking seems hopelessly ambitious. just want melted cheese...... mmmmmmm

Gill79 · 09/10/2008 18:23

talking of such things I have had scary cravings today for all the things I craved when I was pregnant! Mint ice cream and fruity yoghurt. Luckily there is 0% chance of pregnancy so will put it down to feeling sicky and dehydrated.

MissNat just realised you have a nephew not a niece.. soz.

phew!have just waved goodbye to the ambulance crew. dd climbed into ferdie's cot and somehow managed to get from there to the shelf and drink half a bottle of neurofen kids stuff. bad bad mummy. turns out that even this quantity is too small to be dangerous for her weight so luckily once they'd done the checks we were given all clear. wish nhs direct could have done the maths waste of ambulance mens time and freaked me out completely. she was loving the attention. i am now severely in need of a large drink. have a party to go to and babysitter but would much rather go to bed with said drink. we were up a record busting 8 x last night between the 2 kids and some random man buzzing our door bell at 11pm 'looking for terry' . will now go upstairs and wack on some clothes and make up in an attempt to not look like befruzzled mother.
sorry about your mum rozzy. really horrible that everything is falling away when they need security most. haven't asked my dad today, he's in the process of trying to move the money i hope but he was doing some worrying procrastinating and burying his head in the sand. my brother is on the case so i'll let him deal with dad and not harass him. also don't want to seem like i only care about it as inheritance which would be horrible-(although have to admit bit gutted for the lo's as they might have benefitted for uni)
hope everyone feeling beter
right better go upstairs and try my hardest with the mascara and concealer

Gill79 · 09/10/2008 20:21

Princess! Your life is so full of drama! Glad all is well with DD. Enjoy your night.

OP posts:
gingermumi · 09/10/2008 20:33

OMG Princess that must have been scarey!

No news here, lots of teeth now but no crawling. AM busy doing CV for dd1 at mo so no time for chatting (keep saying that )

Have worked lots this weeks and it's big big pants

rozzyraspberry · 09/10/2008 20:59

God princess what a nightmare - your dd seems to have 'spirit'. I feel sorry for you with the 8x up in the night - I really struggle when I don't get a half decent nights sleep. Andrew has got a new routine of waking for a feed at 1am then getting up at 5am. Funnily don't feel too bad so must be getting used to lack of sleep. Luckily ds1 and ds2 sleeping is better this week so obviously just some sort of blip last week.

Gill - I always crave the same things when pg or sick - always unhealthy things like salty chips.

Feel a bit like a chaperone today - took ds1 to school, ds2 to nursery, went back for ds2, then back for ds1. Then had to drop off and pick up ds1 from mini tennis. Feel sorry for ds3 just being shoved in and out of the car/buggy all day but he's actually been really happy today . I've found that he doesn't like being left lying on the floor but if I leave him sitting playing with things he's much happier. He's been sitting playing with the wheels of his vtech walker spinning them round. It's really funny watching him do that as that's what ds1 spent ages doing when he was a baby. He also looks quite like ds1 but similar to ds2 too.

LOVEMYMUM · 09/10/2008 22:02

Princess and Rozzy - "oh dear" sounds so inadequate.

Princess - what a nasty fright with the nurofen .

swottybetty · 10/10/2008 09:05

pmsl at your ds3 spending hours spinning wheels on walker rozzy. when i need dd entertained quietly i bung her in front of mirror. nothing makes her happier... little narccisit .... ger its from her dad i reckon .

wow princess... glad all is ok with your dd. yeh, i agree re nhs direct being quite rubbish a lot of the time. did you have a nice party? i have a prob with concealer and mascara at the moment... the amount of concealer needed to cover eye bags means that undereye sticky and catches mascara and am panda eyed within minutes again.

sainsburys was a joke. dh bought himself 7 jacket potatoes and let me wander round deciding that everything either made me sick or was EXACTLY the right food for me.

nearly weekend ginger! did not realise you did night clasess to. nearly half term too...
