Ooh tyaca - thrills - delighted for you!!! Another baby!!! Well done. How is dh taking it?

Just back from Devon and I'm in the throes of major mother in law drama. She was crying to dh yesterday because I had insisted on leaving at Hector's nap time, cutting short the post-prandial cup of tea. He won't stand up for me so we are completely at odds.

Lol at baby rice paper sally - I'm sure it would be very popular with the young uns.

tyaca · 26/09/2008 12:44

awww... you guys are so lovely. ty for your nice words esp those who we dont hear so much of. am feeling all warm! yeah, i am feeling ok with it, tired but just going to bed really early so not nearly as much of a prob as last time round. feeling a bit stressed today -- but thats cause we have vasts amounts of relations coming this weekend and i have stopidly big cleaning to be done. i hate cleaning. gill - i cant believe you had so little faith in me re half marathon ! also dd a snot machine, really bunged up and cry-y.

alkar · 26/09/2008 12:56

Congratulations tyaca, hope you can get a rest this weekend. I think you are very brave I'm still not sure if I want another, seems like very hard work!

uestion for princess - my DS had a skin prick test yesterday for wheat and milk but it was -ve. He tends to be sick a lot after eating yoghurt or bread so I was sure it would show something. DH is allergic to whey products and so are a lot of his family. How did you DCs get diagnosed?

Mitfords - always have the same problem here, DH never stands up to his mum. I always say we'll have to leave when its DSs nap time but his mum gets all offended and we have to stay a bit longer then DS cries all the way home. Its only 45 mins away and they rarely make it over here I think if they are that bothered they can come here more

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 26/09/2008 13:27

i am in same posion with the dreaded in laws!!!!! i think it must be boys and their mothers,

I remember being at a family gathering the christmas before we got married and MIL said- "i hope your not getting married looking like that" (refering to my weight (as usual) DH said nothing, we had a huge fight about it but his still says i miss heard- (she apologised at a later date so i know i heard right!!!!!) now i fight my own corner or the usual nod and grin thru gritted teeth!!!!

oh the joys!!!!! i could go on but wont bore u all to death lol

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 26/09/2008 13:29

PS- BTW i got married a size 22- and looked lovely, did not loose or gain any weight- just to prove my point so MIL had to eat her words!!!!!!lol

rozzyraspberry · 26/09/2008 13:36

Since I have 3 boys I am determined to be a lovely MIL.

I have a lovely mil btw.

princessllama · 26/09/2008 14:05

tyaca yes i'm the font of all coctail based knowledge.
i've taken the same road as you sarah re mil. know exactly the stand off you're facing mitford and alkar. dh is too frightened of mil. after much angst and rows with dh i now take her on myself and leave dh out of it, have accepted that he will never stand up to her(he says i am the only one who ever stands up to her). the kids come first so i can just about manage to muster the courage for their sake, harder when it's not to do with them.

princessllama · 26/09/2008 14:06

rozzy am determined to be a good mil too, always makes me think.

rozzyraspberry · 26/09/2008 20:49

Just a quickie to say that if any of you had your eyes on anything from elc for xmas pressies (early I know but we also have ds1 and ds2 birthdays before that so I'm trying to get organised!) I received an e-mail today with a discount code for 20% off. Code is autumn to be used by 6th October.

In other news ds3 discovered his willy in the bath tonight - he was enthralled to have this new toy.

CountTo10 · 26/09/2008 22:11

Rozzy - ds2 discovered his today too. I think it must feel different in the bath cause I remember when we put ds1 in his sit up seat in the bath he immediately started playing with it!!!

Tyaca - ohhhh myyyyy gooood!!!! I wondered who would be first!! Fantastic news, congratulations. I'm sure there will be hard bits having two close together but to be honest having more than one child has its difficulties full stop so the age gap thing is all relative. How exciting!!! Am a bit jealous as I do feel quite broody again but we're defo not having anymore here. Just make sure you sleep when you can and don't overdo it cause you do seem to feel more tired the second time round.

Well colds seem to be clearing up now..phew!! Ds1 is now obssessed with star wars thanks to dp!! Sounds so sweet though hearing him say all the names - can't quite do obi wan though, he calls him obi wan benobi and darth vadar is actually the black knight!!! Can't believe he's 4 next week, its come round so quickly. Only another few mths and then all the 1sts will be coming round. Aaaaaand only just over 2 months until my xmas tree can go up.....yipeeee!!!!

Gill79 · 26/09/2008 22:28

Malc discovered his willy recently too - he's always trying to find where it's gone when I've put his nappy on.

Have been having fun with him at my parents with their cats. He just goes absolutely mental for them. They're being quite patient so far!

What is it about MILs? I am really surprised how many bad ones there are out there although mine is lovely. Anyone remember Pk616's stories about hers?

Princess - how are you getting on with the hired help? It sounds like there might be a different understanding about the formality of the situation - if she was a "professional" living with a strange family she definitely wouldn't behave like that. I would be rubbish at doing this but maybe just a quiet word to say that her role is to fit in with your family life and maybe suggest one night a week for loverman?

Oh dear screaming baby better go.

rozzyraspberry · 27/09/2008 07:49

gill how are the nights now?

Andrew was up at 4.30am this morning for the 2nd time this week - am absolutely shattered and no school/nursery today so no chance of resting.

Ty - I agree with count on getting as much sleep as poss. Also be very careful lifting your dd. I remember the worst thing about being pregnant the 2nd time was that ds1 always filled his nappy first thing in the morning - awful changing smelly nappies when you have morning sickness. Tis very exciting though. I too feel broody but think that's just cause I know we're not having anymore and I have loved having a baby again ( despite the fact he's been a 'challenging' baby).

count - ds2 is 4 next month too - I think leesmums and beansprouts ds1 are too.

Have nice weekend all.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/09/2008 09:16

oh Gil, i remember PK616's stories about her MIL, i wonder how she and Kya are doing? she was such a huge part of our antenatal thread and has disappeared!!!!

LOVEMYMUM · 27/09/2008 18:49

Still up and down here in Lovemymum's life. Massive row with DH today about a budget - our mortgage eats up half his monthly salary. We're both feeling better now. We may rent out the house and move to a flat to save some money.

I think the past seven months are catching up with me and I'm expressing a lot of anger - which i need to do. DH isn't sure what's hit him though!

Tyaca, can i ask whether or not your 2nd LO is a happy surprise for you - the thought of having baby no.2 renders me crying. Mind you - i have to nag DH to give Katie breakfast, cos it's "my job"!

I also wonder how PK 616 is getting on.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/09/2008 19:19

oh love mymum sorry to hear you and dh are arguing, i hope you have now cleared the air( u never upon making up you too could announce a surprise no 2)

Sorry!!!

DH and i have been to look at a house to buy today it needs bringing up to date but would be perfect, but with the money situ we will def be over stretched, and i am really as its lovely and where i would like my children to be bought up!!! (if not a little too close to PIL) boo hoo, however that said i would rather my DC's live in our lovely home in a less desirable area and be able to afford what we want/need most of the time

off out for curry and wine with the girls from work c u to tommorow,

alkar · 27/09/2008 19:34

DS has had two teeth for ages and I have finally been bitten - it really hurts!

I too aim to be a wonderful MIL

gingermumi · 27/09/2008 21:18

Tyaca, thats sooooooo cool. Congrats hun. Am . Hope you're feeling well!

Princess- sounds like my dd sometimes, you don't need that when it's not your own offspring- might be taking advantage a tad. I'd make some rules v early on then everyone knows where they stand.

LOL rozzy - ds found jis ages ago. When you take his nappy off he puts his hand on it and lets out a huge sigh! Bless ! After that he tends to pull it, u'd have thought that hurts but apparently not !

Ds has been sick a lot today, was sick in night and this morning, thought he was ok but then he brought all his tea up, everywhere.

Am looking for some 'chunky' ankle boots (not lace ups) any ideas?

Have a good weekend- weather supposed to be good again tomorrow

gingermumi · 27/09/2008 21:19

for jis, read 'his'. Am a tad tired!
