Hope counselling works for you lovemymumxx

Egg - I had one of these buggy buddy books attached to ds3 buggy and he managed to chew it off the cord when we were out shopping one day - excellent blw!!

Still not teeth here either but he keeps feeling around his gums with his tongue.

Hope you enjoyed your shopping spree tyaca - I've just splurged on some new clothes for my 3 because they were starting to look a bit scruffy!

Well done carrying on with bf now you're back at work omy - do you pump during the day? I am hoping to continue once I'm back at work but don't really want to pump at work.

My tesco shop has just been delivered so I'd better put it away I suppose.

alkar · 18/09/2008 12:36

Like the idea of planting something in your dads memory leesmum. Hope things start to get a little easier for you now.

lol at monsoon prices tyaca, I tend to keep my DH in the dark about the cost of clothes too, keep saying someone gave us that and that was from someone else

Did you manage to get another good sleep last night gill.

Sally DS has his 2 bottom teeth but no top yet and so far bf has been fine. And no your not the only one with a baldy I have hair envy when I look at other babies, just can't imagine DS with hair though

Leave the hoover alone sarah, put your feet up! Harry looks like a proper little man in his uniform.

DS has eaten loads of paper, thought I had managed to get it all out of his mouth one day but noticed he'd been storing some in the roof of his mouth about an hour later! Lol at the DoH leaflet Sally!

When do you start your counselling lovemymum? Counselling helped my friend so much she is retraining and has already done a counselling diploma.

gingermumi · 18/09/2008 15:53

Just a quick catch up.

well done at 5hrs sleep Gill hope you get same (or better) tonight.

Lovely idea for a tribute leesmum.

LOL at paper etc stories, happened to me today, putting ds in car saw something white in his mouth, thought it was a little sickage only to find a paper mache (sp?) till receipt - heaven knows where he got it from, probably has a store of them somewhere !

ds still no teeth, crawling or even bum shuffling but he can roll from back to front (but not back again). Haven't had him weighed lately but last time we went he was almost 23lb. HV is hopeless too, the one i had with dds was fab but this one is a right wet blanket and doesn't seem to remember who i am when i go, seems totally disinterested when i discuss any concerns so i just go to get him weighed now. support and advice much better on here!

Off to do some reading for work! Have a good evening one and all

tyaca · 18/09/2008 16:55

excellent - lots of people we havent heard from for aaagees . lovemymum - you do sound low. counselling a good idea, watching shock-jock docs on channel 4 prob now . come and chat to us more often, its always nice to hear from you.

hello omy - yeh, dd loves paper. wonder why its so popular? i cant believe your dh could get that much done while in charge. i am in awe of him, but best not to tell him that, eh ?

congrats sally on the crawling. and the rolling over. about a month ago we had a Week of Rolling Over. she mastered it then forgot it and has stayed put since.

sarah - goodluck with the teeth and sorry to hear about your broken nights. the only way is up ...

egg --- three teeth....? even between two babies, you're just boasting now .

i have to go - catch up with rest of posts later

omy · 18/09/2008 20:02

Oh you do make me smile you guys.
re clothes - we really need to do a shop she has grown out of everything! So far we have survived on hand me downs and presents but they seem to have dried up! Perhaps we will get some more next week at her christening!! (finally got round to organising it) She also needs some new toys - she is bored with the old ones - but perhaps only paper and plastic will please her - she seems to love the baby wipes packet so much!

Rozzy -I dont pump at work - too busy/lazy - she has formula at 11am and 3pm and me morning and evening - perfect!
By the way - isn't it awful about the chinese babies who got sick from contaminated formula - so sad

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 18/09/2008 21:15

hello all,

hope you are well,

Went to slimming world today and have lost 1.5lb, total loss is 8.5lb since i began 6 weeks ago!!!!really pleased with it!!!still no teeth but rosie seems happier,

Ds loved his first day a t preschool, so good here i think

rozzyraspberry · 18/09/2008 21:16

Omy your lo milk routine sounds like mine. He feeds around 7am, 11am, 3pm and 6.30pm (then once in the night usually). When you're not at work at the weekends do you still give formula or do you do bf? It's just that I only work 3 days a week and was wondering if he had bottles in the day on the days I was working would I be able to feed him myself when I'm not working (like you I won't be pumping). Not sure if my supply would be affected too much? Anyway I'm not back until December so he might have dropped another feed by then.

Hi to everyone else!!

omy · 18/09/2008 21:31

Hi Sarah - I am so impressed with your weight loss - very inspiring!!

Rozzy - I have been back at work for 3 weeks and only work tues, wed, thurs - which means that when I am home for 4 days it is tempting to bf more often - and that is what happened the first week (especially as she caught a horrid cold and needed comfort bf one night), but we seems to be getting into the routine now and sticking to bottles (mostly) in the day. I think it makes it easier for DH to stick to the new routine if poss. My supply seems to be quite flexible though for example on monday she had boob instead of bottle at 3pm, and I only suffered from 'rock boobs' the first week back.

princessllama · 18/09/2008 21:36

sarahmandh good pics of your ds starting school.
and gill, what can i say, malcom is very cute. ds looks at me like i'm a moron when i try and get him to clap. still, he's very advanced in the eating paper department.
we still have only 2 teeth but lots of teething. had a temp of 102 this evening and rash so i rushed him to a and e only to have him suddenly become life and soul of party, clearly not ill . he ate half the paper on the bed they put him on. they tried to make me get a urine sample from him. he's fine, no way i was going to stay there any longer so i politely refused after they'd checked every part of him. we were both realing from tiredness too as doing controlled crying at night and not putting him on our chest anymore. forgot who did the 50min stint? anyway, we do 5 min at a time then go back and gen. when we do he calms down and then falls asleep because he's so knackered. now trying to get him to stop 10pm feed-people keep looking at us in horror when they hear he still has it as he is so fat-22pounds at 6months. hopefully as others say, will fall off when he starts crawling but honestly, i can't do his jeans up and they're gap size 12-18month.
2 left feet is crap mitford. just received car seat today that i ordered almost 4 weeks ago, was really starting to worry.
ds pulled cat's tail at weekend and got scratched across his forehead-dh got a frosty reception when he had to break the news to me-why was he letting him do it
desperate for bed but waiting for bloody occado
about to start the weekend of revelry. have become the evil queen of bunting, hunting people down and forcing them to put it up from their windows. did i already mention that you are all welcome? would love it if some of you guys made it. how do i invite you lot without inviting the whole of mnet??anyone know?

Gill79 · 18/09/2008 22:44

Oh Sarah I can sympathise with your troubles with Rosie sleeping. Not much that can be done I suppose apart from knowing it won't last for ever. Speaking from the heady position of having had THREE nights of only getting up once or twice Well done on the stew! Proper mummy. (and wd on weight loss too....)

Lovemymum do come and talk to us more! Good luck with the counselling; sorry you're having such a hard time.

LO eats paper whenever he gets the chance although I try to keep it away from him. He manages to get his hands on lots of forbidden things though - if you watch him you never see him moving but he'll suddenly be sitting in a completely different part of the room!

Pleased to hear Ferdie is a little chubster Princess - after the troubles he's had it must be reassuring. Thank goodness his temperature came down. Good luck with the street party!

Well we seem to be in the process of unweaning. I finally got round to cooking LO some home made purees, and not only would he not touch them but they seem to have put him off food altogether! He's only eating ella's kitchen and bf at the moment.

We're off to Rome in the morning! Getting public transport to the airport - wish us luck! (I let DS topple off the sofa this evening while I was packing but luckily he rolled head first into his carseat which was on the floor next to the sofa)

OP posts:
sallyforth · 19/09/2008 09:19

Hello Again,

am impressed at all the fat babies! my LO is only 9th centile and my mum keeps making concerned noises along the lines "if you don't feed him properly his brain development will be affected" THANKS MUM actually I do feed my baby as much milk and solids as I can get him to take, but due to being such a bouncy happy little chap he burns it all off again crawling round exploring!

sarah what a great weight loss. I am struggling to shift that last stone of weight. Weaning not helping as I keep forgetting that cooking lunch/tea for the 2 of us does not need the same quantities as the amount I used to cook for DH and my own lunch and tea in the good old days! so I end up eating one and 3/4 size portion as not happy to reheat cooked meat for LO the next day. Darn BLW! At least with purees I would not get DH and DS confused!

omy thanks for your experiences on cutting down bf for your LO. Does she wake you at night for feeds?

princessllama gosh ferdie likes to give you a scare doesn't he? bet he was the cutest patient in A+E that night that's for sure.

Gill LOL at unweaning! how rude of him to spurn your home cooked fare! maybe try a spot of BLW? he's so advanced in other respects, I reckon he might surprise you!

With the popularity of paper as baby food, why has nobody introduced baby-rice paper as a first weaning food? the babies would love it!! mums might be a bit tho I suppose. maybe if the paper had E=mc2 written on it or something!!

rozzyraspberry · 19/09/2008 10:51

Sally my lo not too big either - 17lbs 5 and he's just over 7 months. Dropped from 50th centile 6 weeks ago to 25th centile due to not gaining any weight.

Gill - my lo doesn't always eat what I cook either but loves it when I mix ellas kitchen with pasta so I'm going to try ellas kitchen with chicken tonight. Also seems to love cheese sauce with veg and I've started to give him weetabix for breakfast this week which he is enjoying. He's not a huge eater though - so different from ds1 and ds2 - but I'm trying not to get too stressed about it. He hasn't refused anything but will quite often have about a third of a portion then get fed up with it. He will then eat some fruit as pudding though

Sarah - wd on weight loss. That's a good steady loss which'll be easier to keep off in the long run. Sounds like you're doing it sensibly

kalo12 · 19/09/2008 17:17

hi just found this site and i have a ds born in feb 08.

I'm getting a bit worried and wanted to post this, - not sure if its the right place though, (didn't get much response on another title)

basically my ds doesn't babble at 7.5 months and I'm wondering whether other babies his age are. He makes aaaah sounds in the throat but no consonants.

Seeing a few markers for autism, although am very neurotic and clueless too.

arm flapping and hand twisting when he lies on his back, trying to 'stomach crunch'

dairy allergic /solid refuser / poor sleeper

and doesn't respond to name or point to things.

Can you please tell me if your babies do these things so i can get some perspective. thanks

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/09/2008 21:07

hi kalo-

just wanted to say hi, and welcome to our thread, i am sure some of the other will offer u some advise- but you shouln't worry, all of our are different anyhow they are all progressing at different levels, !!!

Thanks goodness its friday nite, no work for two nites, been a long week!!!!!

Having dinner with friends tomorrow so i am looking forward to that,

have a good fri nite everyone xxx

alkar · 19/09/2008 21:09

Hi kalo. My DS is also 7.5 months, he babbles a bit and mainly says dadadadada no other sounds really. I remember having his 6 month check and the health visitor asked me if he was babbling yet. Has your DS had his 6 month check yet (some places they do an 8 month check though). Babies do things at their own pace, if you are worried speak to you health visitor. Hope that helps.

kalo12 · 19/09/2008 21:19

thanks - got an appointment with doc for two weeks time but i know they will say just wait.

any pointing alkar?

also if your baby falls whilst sitting up do they put their arms out to break the fall?

kalo12 · 19/09/2008 21:22

i know this is probably awkward for others to answer, but please just tell me the truth.

that is why i came to an anonymous site, because i don't want to be comparing my baby to others in real life. i just want to know some facts so i can speak rationally and informed to the doc. thanks guys

leesmum · 20/09/2008 09:26

Hi all

Sarah i've just had a look at your pics and Harry looks so grown up, has he settled in ok? My Ds1 is loving school and is there all day now, he's shatterd though and its a job keeping him awake at tea-time, enjoy your dinner.

Rozzy my lo has started messing around at dinner time, he wolfs down brekkie and lunch but now only has a bit of dinner, and like yours he never refuses fruit!! btw just seen your pictures, what a yummy mummy you are! i love the picture of you and your boys, its lovely x

Hi Sally wow crawling thats great! but it means when babies are on the move so are you, i was told when ds1 started crawling to get down on the floor to look at things from their point of view and also to spot any potential unseen hazards, try it you'll be amazed at what catches your eye.

Gill i've probably missed you now, have a lovely time in Rome.

Princess ferdie is chunking up nicely i'm not sure what ds2 weighs but he seems ok, he's just gone into all his 9-12 month stuff so i know he's gaining weight. What was wrong with ferdie? was it a viral infection, thats what they normally say when they don't know. Your street party sounds great i just hope it's as sunny for you as it here today x

Hi Tyaca, ginger and Omy its great hearing how different all our babies are x

Kalko hi and welcome, you sound really worried about your lo, is there a history of Autism in the family? for what it's worth my ds2 is 8 months now and can just about sit up and no he doesn't put his hands down to stop himself! he is trying to clap but no where near pointing, he makes a lot of noise but nothing recognisable, they all do it in ther own time, i suppose me telling you not to worry might not help, but just enjoy you baby and he'll get there in his own time xxx

rozzyraspberry · 20/09/2008 09:54

Hi everyone.

Kalo just wanted to say I agree with what others say re all babies doing things at different rates. My lo does dadada and a lot of shouting and shrieking. He doesn't put his arms out when he falls over and in my experience they don't start pointing at things for a few months yet. We only get an 8 week check here. I hope your doc can reassure you but I don't think they would be able to give you a definitive answer at this age though.

How's work going leesmum?

leesmum · 20/09/2008 10:12

Hi Rozzy work's going ok i only do 16 hours and its over 4 days so i'm not exactly doing a full week but i've hardly had 5 mins to myself!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 20/09/2008 13:11

hi lees mum, ds has settles really well, he is so proud of himself and so are we,

my only grumble is he has started to wet the bed again, i think its because like ur ds he is exhausted and is sleeping deeper, we wake him as we go up to bed but rarely does he go, then about 2am he cries for me as he is wet!!!!!argggggg!!!!
