Hi all, am having a quiet evening for a change so have a time to post as well as just read the thread.
Bryony has been having some longer sleep periods, but like others have said, she does her longest stretch straight after going to bed, she slept 9.30pm to 5am the other night, I should have gone to bed early but even going to bed at midnight I still got 5 hours' sleep, which was fab . With dd1 I did try doing the dream feed at 11pm but found that she still woke once in the night so didn't bother with waking dd2 and she did the same as Bryony.
TJuice, dd2 wouldn't sleep without a swaddle, we did it for months and when she started escaping it and waking herself up I used a muslin to pin her arms by her sides inside her sleeping bag until she was 8 months old and we had really hot weather, when it made her too hot. Then I used to have to sit by the cot holding her arms down until she went to sleep. It sounds really cruel but if her arms were free she just used to bash herself repeatedly about the head and scream! So I think Elodie will tell you when she is ready to lose the swaddle, don't worry about what the books say.
I've not got much of a routine going here, I have tried a couple of times to follow the Gina Ford one if Bryony happens to wake and feed at 7, but she never manages to stay awake as long as she should, then wants feeding early, so I always abandon the attempt about 9am! I got really stressed doing this with dd1, now I'm trying to go with the flow a bit more - I found The Baby Whisperer much more helpful, as there is a bit of a routine but it's very flexible.
Bryony still hasn't managed to sleep in her crib for more than 10 minutes, she will only stay asleep in her reclining chair, slightly propped up and lying on her side, so I have resorted to putting the chair inside the crib! I was getting very frustrated by it, but then dh pointed out that she's sleeping well and it would not matter at all if she continued to sleep in it until she was 2 years old! Also it was very handy when we went away last week, as the chair is much easier to pack than the travel cot.
Disney - Bryony has quite a lot of spots over her head and a few on her chest, they do seem worse when she is hot but I took dd1 to the GP with the same thing and was told they were called milia and to just put aqueous cream on her if her skin was a bit dry.
Congratulations to bebejones, there was no room to post on the old antenatal thread. Glad your LO arrived at last, hope your first day without dh was ok.
