Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 19:03

Norty my mum was a young mum, and that had it's own embarassements, including finding her vibrator with my best friend, and her getting drunk on a bottle of martini before going out on dates in fishnets tights and tiny lycra skirts telling me and my friend "you know what they say about black men...it's true!"

And my dad is young too, but it often means when we are out together we are mistaken for husband and wife (ewwwwwww!).

LittleMissNorty · 10/01/2008 19:16

LOLOLOL Bumper.....blimey my mum had her moments as well...(not quite like that I have to say) she was 20 when she had me and I think that's where some of my ishoos come from about waiting till 38.

LittleMissNorty · 10/01/2008 19:17

My mothers advice was always shag a man before you marry him

foxythesnowman · 10/01/2008 19:29

Wise words from MrsNorty there

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 19:33

TBH i think "older" mums are becoming more of a trend. think of yourselves as pioneers!

annobal · 10/01/2008 20:08

LOL LOL LOL

I will make sure that by the time my dcs are old enough to be embarassed by me I am doing plenty to help their cause along (although I don't think my sausage legs would stand up to fishnets

My mum was 26 when she had me and I am the youngest of 4 But I think they did things differently back in the olden days

annobal · 10/01/2008 20:10

Being in bed all day has made me very tired so I think I might retire (DH wants the pooter).

Nite all...

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 20:12

nite annobal
my mum was 19 when she had me and now everyone thinks we are sisters grrr she got called a glamorous granny by ds1 teacher at the school xmas fair

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 20:15

I was 23 when I had dd and I was the youngest in my AN group by 15 years! It is quite strange being of "standard" child bearing age and actually having young children. Most mums seem to be in their teens or in their late 30's, so it is me that is the oddity!

I fully intend to be an embarrasing mum, it'll be fun! Dp is already embarrasing dad. He does stupid dances in the middle of shopping centres when he has his boys with him and makes them hold his hand! It makes me PMSL!

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 20:15

LOL Bumper!!

I was once at the pub with my Dad - some guy came up to me and said 'hey tell your Dad I'll buy him a drink'
Confused, I turned to my Dad and said 'Dad, this man wants to buy you a drink..'
The guy said 'is that actually your Dad?!'
'Yes'
'Oh, I just thought you were dating a really old guy'

lol

Yes Bumper we are RL friends
And yes I am 4 stone overweight, I think I must hide it well!!!
The tablets would be better if I ever remembered to take them.

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 20:24

My only regret about waiting until this age before having C is that my Dad is 73 and Mum is 70, so I don't know how long they'll have to know each other.

Having said that, my Dad's parents would have been of similar age when I was born and I was 18 when they died. And as we lived next door to them from when I was age 3 onwards, I got to see them almost every day, which was lovely

NattyThomasandEllen · 10/01/2008 20:26

evening all
apologies for how crap i have been lately.. just hitting the exhaustion wall and be to tired to do anything

ellen keeps waking in the night and its killing me! all she wants is a cuddle, but im sooo tired!

how is everyone this evening?

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 20:30

Hi NTE
I am off to bed. DS has taken a bad turn for the worse, so I am taking the day off tomorrow to look after him. It's awful.
He is inconsolable most of the time, and hasn't eaten in days.

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 20:32

According to WW I am 3 stone overweight! I am a size 14, sometimes 16 and am tall. I'm sure I'm not THAT overweight!

That is the good thing about having my babies quite young. My parents have only just turned 50 and have loads of energy to play with the dcs and are at a stage in their lives where they are well off and have to money to spoil them. The only down side is that they are both still working, so don't have much spare time.

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 20:35

Hi, I'm back from my corner
Actually I came over all funny after the dusting and had to go to bed

My mum was 35 when she had me (in a soap-opera family my sister is old enough to be my mum, but she's not!) and I came out of it ok. I think I have an "older" outlook on life though because of being brought up in an older environment. Hence my having DS1 at 19 (it is a HORRIBLE experience being the youngest person on the PN ward, even if you are respectable married to the father of your child) and having a relatively ancient DH

TBH I don't find RL people all they're cracked up to be either. I can't be doing with bitchiness or fakeness, and it seems people don't "get" me either. That's one of the reasons I don't push myself to get a leave the house or get a career I like my boys, my DH and my sister (some of the time, when she's not "keeping up appearances"), that'll do me

and then there's you lot, who I'm very glad I met

hope he is better fury poor lo

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 20:36

Fury, hope ds is better tomorrow. Poor little mite! xx

Natty, my ds is still not sleeping through either and never has done, so I am feeling your exhaustion. It is hard looking after a toddler when you feel like sleeping all day isn't it?

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 20:38

Glad to have met you too Ria! If only you weren't so farking far away we could meet for real!

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 20:39

My dp is watching a really odd 80's rap film called Wild Style. It is very noisy and doesn't seem to have any sort of plot. Just lots of kids with afros and spray cans doing rap...odd!

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 20:40

natty I am in the not sleeping lo club as well mine was waking 3 to 4 times a night but now this last few days is down to 1 (andie runs round touchng everything wooden in the house)

holly when i started ww online it didn't tell me how overweight I was I just put in my goal weight and it worked out what my 10% loss would be I am probably another stone overweight and I have already lost a stone fark

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 20:43

That made no sense

I am apparently at least 5 stone overweight. I am only a size 22/24 though, and haven't been less than an 18 since I was 19. It's going to take ages to get thinner. Size 18/20 will do, aren't too worried what I weigh when I get to that size, so long as I'm fitter and healthier (and not so bloody tired).

Poor DS fury, maybe a mummy day will make him feel bettr.

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 20:45

LO not sleeping through here either. Currently on twice per night, but a couple of weeks ago it was 3 or 4 times. She didn't settle well tonight though - which is unheard of for her - and I've had to go up to her once already So not feeling optimistic for a restful night tonight

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 20:48

My ds is still rolling round the floor and trying to pull himself up on the sofa. It's very funny! He gets really cross and starts growling like a lion!

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 20:48

all I think jammy is thank gawd for boobs lob em out 5 mins later one asleep again baby

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 20:50

My DH watches weirs 80s films with no plot too holly, it must be their age

I am bloody starving. DH made me tea earlier whn I felt ill, and though I ate it I didn't enjoy it. We have no crisps and no wine either.
