Can you believe it! Our lovely little ones are (roughly) halfway to their first birthdays.

Welcome friends old and new for discussion of sleep, teeth, weaning, milestones, navigating post-baby relationships and the whole existential dread of parenthood... I mean those amazing moments when they make your heart melt. Or produce a poo that makes the wallpaper melt. Oh, all of them. Nothing is off limits because it's just good to know that somebody else has been there.

Aww no! Hope he gets better @BertieBotts, sounds like this might be a long night ahead of you Flowers here, cuppa for you Brew xx

Ready2020 · 02/03/2022 22:00

It's crazy how they get around. We got a plastic play pen thing from amazon today as even if I nip out to the hall DD can find herself in all kinds of situations so I now can't leave her alone at all.

My neighbours are still at it! They came to my door today to tell me my raised bed end strut at the corner was a half inch on their land so I need to remove it as they are going to be putting up a fence. There is no need at all for a fence but hey, it's their money. They then gloated at how it was them that told the factors that part of the bed was on common ground. I ended up shutting the door on them. I really really can't deal with them anymore. They are causing me so much stress that I feel like either slapping them or having a panic attack. I've told my OH that he needs to deal with them from now on. I'm not overreacting when I say they are the most petty people I have come across. I want to move house!

kagerou · 04/03/2022 09:44

@BertieBotts, oh no! I hope he gets better soon Flowers

Ivy is also very chesty at the moment, her breathing sounds like a 90 year old smoker atm and its so scary. Her mood seems ok though and she has no temperature so I'm leaving it until Monday for the Drs.

BertieBotts · 04/03/2022 11:10

Thanks, we ended up going to doctor and they gave us steroids, I was a bit nervous about giving them but he had a much better night last night.

Glad he's on the mend @BertieBotts

RandomCatGenerator · 04/03/2022 22:35

Hi everyone. Checking back in as I’ve been off this thread for a few weeks and it had dropped off my recent threads!

Will catch up but the move back to the UK has been pretty hard. The flight was actually fine - DS was lovely, so well behaved for the full 18 hours door to door - but I’m exhausted by the admin around our building work not being done, squatting with my parents, difficulty getting the (ill) cat back into the country… it’s been very very hard.

I’ll reply properly soon.

RandomCatGenerator · 04/03/2022 22:39

@kagerou

Is anyone else's DC still not sitting unaided consistently? Ivy will for a while but doesn't seem as steady as others and will still topple over after a short while Blush
Glad you said this - I was worried it was just DS! No, he doesn’t sit unaided for long at all x
BertieBotts · 04/03/2022 22:40

Flowers RandomCatGenerator glad you are back safe even though it sounds like a lot to deal with!

Hello everyone!

I totally lost the thread a few threads ago but thank goodness I've had orders from a couple of you so Ive managed to find my way back!

Congratulations to all the babies on 7 months/almost 7 months of being little people!!

Ebony is thriving - I hope all the other babies are too.

I'm going to catch up on this thread from the beginning. Also a big thank you to the few of you that have ordered from me @Daffodil21 did I see you mention that someone had heard of my business along the way? 😍

Daffodil21 · 05/03/2022 22:01

@Jessicapebbles yes, I showed your page to someone from a baby group when we were talking about clothes and she said 'oh yeah I've head of them. I keep meaning to have a look'. We're way up in NE Scotland as well!

Jessicapebbles · 05/03/2022 22:03

@Daffodil21 Wow that’s awesome! Thank you so much! Hope you’re loving your romper ❤️ X

Jessicapebbles · 05/03/2022 22:36

Ok I’ve just caught up roughly so I’ll post my updates here 🤭
Ebony is 7 months and not sitting for any long period but she loves to roll round the room and is trying to get on her knees.
We flew both kids to lanzarote for a week and it was surprisingly SO relaxing.
Almost sleeping through usually 1 wake up for a play 😂
Weaning…Ebony eats everything. She ended up on the end of my baguette one day and now she eats spaghetti bols/casseroles/sandwiches.
No teeth so no idea how she manages it 😂
Well done on setting up business @sarah13xx
, I’d love to see it. Mine is @pebbleandpickle. I currently have a brand rep search out if anyone fancies it.
Xx

Daffodil21 · 05/03/2022 22:44

@Jessicapebbles I haven't actually ordered one myself (sorry 😳) DS has been growing out of clothes so quickly it hasn't been worth buying him anything nice! He's just about steadying out now though so I think I could get a good amount of use from things now!

I've got my wedding fair in the morning 😱 no idea how it's going to go! Obviously I'm not going to get actual orders tomorrow, but I just hope the interest is there. I've got a night in the spare room tonight so I can get a decent night - I don't think DH was too thrilled as he's been doing a few extra nights lately because he's had a cold which we didn't want spreading, and I've also been working late. I almost caved and stayed in our room but between DS's wake ups and DH's snoring I wouldn't get any sleep, and I really want to feel on it tomorrow so I'm all tucked up alone 🙊

Ready2020 · 05/03/2022 23:24

Good luck tomorrow @daffodil

My DD is 7 months on Monday. Her sitting skills are good as she now catches herself most of the time with her hands and she's still doing the on all fours swaying quite a lot. Her sleep has become terrible again and I can only put it down to development in the crawling and maybe getting used to food. She is boob obsessed too and only seems to settle with that. She used to settle with a hand on the back or tummy but I feel I've maybe used my boob magic too often.

She takes an age to go down these days too and has frequent wakes in the first few hours that I feel my evenings are now generally spent sitting in a darkened room. I'm getting through the audio books at least. I guess we've just got a bad sleeper. At least she's still a happy smiling baby during the day.

I feel that I've gotten a bit lazy with weaning. I've been meaning to do more baby led but seem to just spoon feed instead with the odd bit of whole foods she can lift and chew. Maybe it's fear or its needing to do more research on how to prepare food. The solid start app just says steam a carrot stick until soft then serve but I can't help think she'll just take a bite and swallow it whole.

Jessicapebbles · 06/03/2022 00:11

@Daffodil21Oh silly me, I get everyones handles all confused 🙈
I understand that though! And babies grow so so fast! Xx

BertieBotts · 06/03/2022 06:54

We are at that stage :) If the piece is too big it gets launched out again.

kagerou · 06/03/2022 10:54

Ivy is finally sitting for longer periods without tilting over or lunging to the side! I think she's a little behind on most physical milestones but she gets there eventually!

kagerou · 06/03/2022 10:58

We have actually managed to get BLW to a point where its more enjoyment than stress.

She eats a lot now too rather than it just going on the floor.

Like Bertie mentioned if they bite off more than they can chew they just spit it out so I haven't had to put my baby first aid course into practice yet Grin

Ready2020 · 06/03/2022 12:39

I just need to get past my own fear and just give her the veg. I'm back to giving her purees and she doesn't need them as I've given her big bits of fruit before but somehow lost my confidence in it.

I'll steam some carrots this afternoon ready for dinner and just go for it. My OH has Rowan this afternoon so I can do my own thing. I'll probably sew but do need to do the garden too.... hmm.

I've booked to go see Hairspray at the Playhouse in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited! I'm going with my mum and OH will have Rowan. I do feel OK about leaving Rowan a bit more these days as she will take water in her cup. I know I can feed her when I get back so can only really be away for 4 or 5 hours at most but that's enough for a good break.

BertieBotts · 06/03/2022 16:53

With DS2 I was on more like 90% purees at this stage. I used to make them and buy jars, for months. Don't stress. Whatever works :) I assumed I'd do it this time but actually it's way more annoying to try and spoon feed him when he wants to feed himself so I've ended up donating all the jars to a Ukraine collection.

We suddenly have sitting as well! He sat up for a good hour or two today and only fell over when pushed!

@Jessicapebbles going to follow you now from my page ☺️

Sarah13xx · 06/03/2022 20:09

That’s lovely you had a nice time away @Jessicapebbles 😊

We have a holiday booked for June but my partner is 30 soon and I was looking at places in the UK to go. Almost every single sort of ‘special’ place I checked that would be a bit different for his 30th was the price of a week’s holiday! Was going to just book something cheap abroad instead and surprise him but our passports need renewed so I’ve only just done that this week 🤦🏼‍♀️ Will maybe wait and see if it comes back in time!

Also randomly decided I think we’re just going to get married this summer. Have absolutely nothing organised for it but when we don’t want a fuss I’d probably rather just do it this year and have a tiny thing during the day then a reception with friends at night rather than wait for a year and worry in the build up to it! If we were to wait til next summer he’d be 2 and I feel like I don’t know in advance at what point we’d want to try for baby number 2 so if booked it for over a year away it might end up putting things on hold 😕 My sister has just split up with her long term partner though so feel like if I spring this on everyone now itl be insensitive.. biding my time to mention it 🙈

Daffodil21 · 06/03/2022 20:50

Thank you all - wedding show went really well! Lots of interest - of course the interest may not turn into orders but it was all very positive and had some lovely comments. It was a lot of fun and went better than I ever expected it to!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend x

RandomCatGenerator · 06/03/2022 22:30

Solomon starts nursery for two days next week. I am partly really looking forward to it and partly very very worried and a bit sad about it.

Has anyone else’s DCs (this age) started yet?

Any tips and suggestions? DH has a lot of early and late work things this week so am doing it mostly alone.

Smallbean27 · 07/03/2022 08:18

@randomcatgenerator Rohan started nursery last week, he just turned 6 months also does 2 days a week.
He loved it!! It was a bit sad dropping him off but he smiled as he went in and was quite happy.
I think it's a good age personally as they haven't really got separation anxiety and it will be normal for them when they do. I also find I value my time with him much more now.
Your LO will be fine it is definitely harder for us than it is for them, all the other kids will be very interested in them and play with them! Hope it goes well!
