Here we go again!

I'd do another delightful intro, alas I've lost count which thread this is now and we all know our LO's names anyway 😁

So instead I will just say, Merry First Christmas together to you and your LOs! 🎄❤🎁

May the sleep regression pass as soon as they see Santa later this week...

...May they love weaning and may our kitchens survive...

...May 2022 be full of blessings for them and for us ❤❤❤

Oldcomers and newcomers welcome, as always! 🥰

Same here @biscuitcat, my DM says I was pretty bald until 3yo! It grew thick and fast later Grin I think DS is following me in that regard. He also looks a bit more like me now, for the first 5 months he was a mini-DH. Now everyone says how gorgeous he is, I'm obviously chuffed Grin xx

We definitely don't have enough hair for a hair cut over here! Though pulling my hair is definitely her favourite thing in the world. Not exactly pulling she just likes to hold tight to a good chunk of it 🙈
Those who said about no teeth yet... be glad of no teeth yet! Dd has bit me while feeding twice tonight! Ouch!

I have both children seemingly tag teaming it tonight. As one closes their eyes the other one wakes for an hour then they both settle for just long enough for me to curl under my own duvet and regain feeling in my toes before turn next one wakes
H (he doesn't deserve dh right now) is sleeping soundly throughout or at least pretending to Be

Ready2020 · 06/02/2022 03:54

DD is mostly baldy with a bit of fuzz. Apparently I was bald until 1 then had platinum blonde hair.

This is the second night in a row DD has soaked through her nappy by 2am! Another clothes and sleeping bag change. Then she pooped as I was feeding her and pooped through her clothes and bag! 2 changes in 20 minutes Hmm

I can only presume she's just getting lots of liquid from the pureed fruit she had today plus she feeds to sleep and takes most of her milk before bed compared to the snacking she does during the day. I try and encourage more feeds during the day but she isn't interested. Really hope there is nothing wrong and it's not repeated tomorrow night. It takes ages to resettle her.

Smurf123 · 06/02/2022 04:20

@Ready2020 oh no hope all ok. We have been up all night and dd has brought up milk twice now all over me and her and sleeping bags! Second time there now was because I was trying to give her calpol. I think she feels a bit warm though dh says she's not. She's currently sitting on the chair beside me smiling so once the light is on and she's not on her cot she is perfectly happy

kagerou · 06/02/2022 09:22

@Smurf123 ouch with the biting! how do you deal with that? Shock

Hope she is all ok and not coming down with anything Flowers

Smurf123 · 06/02/2022 09:37

@kagerou I let a yelp one of the times which I didn't mean too and scared her 😫 I just take her off and put her back on again when she does it . I think she's teething too which is prob part of it but ouch it hurts!

I don't know whether she's coming down with something or maybe just teething. She was sick a few times but not a lot it was really just a mouthful of milk with a burp probably because she had fed all night I mean like every 45 mins all night. Dh eventually got up and 6 and took her for a walk and she's been asleep in the pram ever since.

Thank you for your support ladies. It's mostly up and running now. There's a placeholder image for a church which needs updating, but I don't have time to do that today as I need to spend the next few hours on some house design work, so I'm hoping no one notices it... I'll get it updated in the next few days but I had to go live without the image as the wedding show people were chasing for the website. I'll post the link below because I may not leave the link there in case it somehow gets linked back to MN as I've definitely over shared on here!

If any of you could give me a follow on the Instagram link, that would be great!

Also please do say if you spot any mistakes!

Daffodil21 · 06/02/2022 16:47

Oh also, no Etsy page yet as the website had to take priory for the wedding show

Ready2020 · 06/02/2022 17:44

Looks great @daffodil I've followed. I've got a pop up shop in April and am going to speak to a local craft studio about giving embroidery classes. Plus putting my application in for a few fairs for the year. But I feel like I've maybe bitten off a bit much. I'm not finding as much time as I want to make things. I end up staying up late and feel so tired in the morning.

sarah13xx · 06/02/2022 20:50

@Daffodil21 aw wow, looks so professional, love it! Glad it’s off to a good start 😅 Only just getting back on to see messages from a few days ago. It definitely helps when you have an extra pair of hands there and can get on with work instead of having to stop and start so many times it isn’t even worth your while trying to get anything done 🙈 I’ve managed to get caught up to Tuesday’s orders now over the weekend so I just have a load to be posted on Wednesday that I need to work through but it’s taken the stress out of the start of the week. He does pretty much spend the entire day at my mum’s most days so that I can get caught up though but I’m usually there too so don’t feel like I haven’t seen him at least

Daffodil21 · 06/02/2022 21:19

Thanks ladies, and thanks for the follows ❤️ no idea if anything will come of it, but I really hope so.

@Ready2020 embroidery classes sounds like a great idea!

@sarah13xx I pop on your shop every now and then and wow! You've got a lot of sales under your belt! I haven't got round to doing Etsy yet, but will do over the next week or so

kagerou · 06/02/2022 21:52

@Daffodil21 the website and your drawings are beautiful! I don't use IG but I'll definitely be mentioning to friends getting married

Ready2020 · 06/02/2022 22:18

How are everyone's babies doing with sleep if you've started on solids? DD is 6 months old tomorrow and while her sleep improved for the first week in her own room it's now gone rubbish again. She takes ages to go down then wakes 2 or 3 times before 10pm and only boob will do to settle her. I fear that I've gotten trapped in a feed to settle routine. My evenings are mostly spent sitting in the nursery with her on my boob, mostly feeding or letting her settle after the feed. Her poops are changing as I'd expected and she's had some major explosions. I'm just wondering if her sleep is restless due to getting used to food?

We're trying a size nappy up tonight to see if that helps the peeing situation.

sarah13xx · 07/02/2022 08:15

@Daffodil21Etsy definitely seems to be a good platform to start you off, especially when you can pay for ads. Seems to be you just need some sales and reviews to get going then it’s much easier after that. I pinch myself every day and wonder if I’ve made some mistake and that’s not my page with all those sales 🤔😂 I’m still waiting on reaching my 90 days threshold to get my big payout, only had a bit of money each week but it’s only really been enough to buy stuff for the next week. Quite glad it’s going to come out in one lump sum though so I’ll use it for the house instead of wasting it 🙈

BertieBotts · 07/02/2022 08:40

We had a bit of more bumpy sleep when we first introduced food but he's also been ill and is suddenly doing much more with his hands so could be developmental and has settled into a more manageable pattern again now.

Daffodil21 · 07/02/2022 09:25

@sarah13xx Etsy was always my starting point plan, but then we booked the wedding show so I wanted to get the website up and running for that. I'm going to try and look at Etsy set up today during the day (ha 😂) I've no idea how it works tbh!

Inmypjsagain · 07/02/2022 15:27

@Daffodil21 looks great! I followed your Insta last night, think it looks really good so far

@Ready2020 no change with sleep for us but then he’s on purées if that makes a difference. The only difference we’ve noticed in the consistency, smell and colour of the poo! We also double nappy at night, he soaks through pampers size 5 and he doesn’t wake in the night for a change, it’s working for us okay so far.

Weaning is going well I think I totally don’t know if he’s eating too much or not enough! He still has around a litre of milk a day (which is down by about 400/500ml) but he’s eating 3 Ella’s kitchen 120g sachets a day, he doesn’t want more milk but I feel like I could keep giving him sachets. When I tell people they seem surprised like that’s alot and it does sound it, but I have no idea what’s normal?

Also this sounds ridiculous but it seems like he’s teething again. He’s had one tooth for over a month and another for about 3 weeks, it feels like he could be getting more. His cheeks are really red and he’s dribbling a lot, but I’ve googled and the next lot of teeth look to be front upper teeth but that’s usually 8 months they come through, it’s too early surely?! I’m also really confused about brushing them, we try and he HATES it

Good reminder here for anyone finding things hard (which is everyone some days!) You're not alone and it's unlikely to be anything you've done X

Weaning wise we are consistently on one meal and sometimes two but he is really eating very little, which is fine. I'd find it hard to quantify but for example I'd put maybe a quarter to a third of a jar of baby food in a bowl and he might eat half of that before he gets fed up or tired. He will chew happily on a whole piece of toast (cut into four long slices) but maybe a quarter of it will actually be swallowed. Tonight we had stew with mashed potato so I took some potato out before adding salt and gave that to him, some of it I left plain and some I mixed the sauce into. He loved that but in total he probably only had about 8 baby sized spoonfuls. Then he was tired and wanted to stop. I put the rest of the potato in the fridge and will probably mix it with a parsnip jar I have in there.

With the sachets are you feeding them with a spoon or letting him suck them out? I know that letting them suck them can result in them eating more but it's not very good in terms of them recognising that they are actually eating and it's really bad for teeth, so it's not recommended to let them do that.

At this age I tend to just let them chew on a toothbrush a bit to get them used to the routine, you can clean the actual teeth by rubbing them with a flannel over your finger in the bath, you don't need to use toothpaste immediately. There is a good toothbrush training set from nuk that they like to chew on and there's a set with finger toothbrush and some gentle apple flavour toothpaste as well which we used last time.

Well, I've just completed my personal holy trinity of baby products, alongside the BB bouncer and the Tripp Trapp, this is another top scorer! If you, like me, didn't have a clue where to put the baby monitor or didn't want to drill into the wall in an awkward spot and then have to drill again as the height will need to change - fear not. This is the answer.

I am going to rave about this for the next decade Grin

I have Leo in his big cot in our bedroom as I wasn't ready for him to move into his own room just yet. And I have this genius thing attached to my bedside table, in a safe distsnce from the cot and with no risk of falling in to it and no loose wires anywhere near.

Honestly, 10/10! I had to share with you all, can you tell I'm a little bit excited Grin xx

Omg that looks awesome! I was just thinking where to put the camera when we move DS3 into DS2's room and that might well be perfect.

Ready2020 · 07/02/2022 21:16

I can't seem to see the photo, it's too small. I spent £45 today on clothes and a stupidly expensive pack of alphabet flash cards. No idea why I bought them. Just seduced by the pictures. I'll need to stop these impulse buys next month. Or now really....

We seem to be stuck in a routine of DD being put down to sleep after being fed then she sleeps for 10 minutes then wakes and needs resettled again with boob. Just a big sigh really.

Got a day in Edinburgh tomorrow to meet a friend for lunch and have a wander. My favourite vegan donut shop is closed on a Monday Tuesday though unfortunately.

Smurf123 · 07/02/2022 21:37

@Ready2020 that is dd tonight and she's tired. Been trying to get her to sleep since 7ish (she fell asleep in car on way home from ds football club) and is tired will sleep on me but then wakes soon after I put her down. She's just woken again. My boobs need a break! But the only way to get her back over is to feed. She won't even let me rock her to sleep. I don't know what to try anymore. It's been like this for days.

OP posts:
Smurf123 · 07/02/2022 21:52

I've just given her some rather in a bottle and she has gone back over but usually it's for maybe 10 minutes 30/40 if I'm lucky. I've tried giving a dummy she won't take one. Tried that again tonight. She currently has a mam, tommee tippee, Philips a advent and a bibs only all in her cot in attempt to get her to take any of it to sleep. She just likes to hold them and chew on the edges and then shouts and cries when she drops it/ pulls it out of her own mouth!

Weaning in terms of actually consuming any quantity of food is a disaster here
