Hi Trace, sorry about Chloe's hip

DH wants to go to the supermarket!! I think he's mad, but have said I've got enough done that I can "spare him" to go. We don't need anything, he just wants to see if there are any last minute bargains to be had.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 24/12/2007 12:41

Trace my wish is that Chloe gets better too. You are doing great trace, hope you all have a fab Christmas.

So the fudge...apparently there is an important difference between condensed and evaporated milk which I didn't realise and which has meant that I have wasted £5 of organic chocolate and have a big slab of squishy chocolatey mess

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 12:42

DH just changed DD's nappy. She's done a normal looking poo (though this was unusual for her as she did a big one before and is pretty much a once a day girl) , then while her nappy was off, did a very liquidy one that shot across the room (much to DH's disgust!). He's going to the pharmacy while out to see if he can get anything to give her if it continues (seeing as we don't want to be searching for emergency doc's or chemists late on Xmas Eve or on Xmas Day), and I've decided not to try her with the dairy based lunch she was going to have (I had just opened the tub of cottage cheese) in case she does have upset stomach, but to make sure she gets plenty of BF and water this pm. Any other advice?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 12:45

Bumper - poor you

My trifle base looks like a write off if it's any concolation, the jelly just won't set. Maybe soaking the sponges in strawberry vodka didn't help . I'm going to start again, and freeze the jelly/fruit/sponge/vodka stuff so we can have it as pudding later in the week.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 24/12/2007 12:50

Nothing you can do Jammy.Keep her bottom as clean as you can obviously, and use lots of nappy cream as she will get sore. DD had this a couple of weeks ago - you might want a large pack of disposables for this ....if she refuses any feeds or shows any signs of dehydration (dry nappies, sunken fontanelle's, pale colour or dry mouth / tongue), she will need to go to the hospital / doctor. Babies dehydrate very quickly. NHS direct put me through to emergency doctor while I was on the phone.

Sorry don't want to alarm you, but this was everything I was told a couple of weeks ago.

Also with K, I fed her as much milk as I could get down her and didn't worry about solids for a few days. Fluid is more important. The GP told me to give her rehydration fluid - instead of milk if necessary.

Hope its just a "teething nappy"

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 24/12/2007 12:51

at strawberry vodka - I ALWAYS bugger up my trifles by putting too much sherry in them!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 12:54

Thanks Norty - yes we're aware that if it continues (and one bad nappy does not mean it will) there is risk of dehydration, and yes we will take action if required, Xmas or not, just thought would try to get advice and stuff in ahead of time if we can - hoping DH can get some rehydration fluid stuff to have as standby.

andiemisletoe · 24/12/2007 13:05

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 24/12/2007 13:07

Bugger about the trifle jammy. Hope DD is ok over Christmas. I'm sure she will be fine. DD just did a very runny greeny poo but I just assumed it was to do with the solids.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 24/12/2007 13:13

When DD had it, my god, I've never seen nappies like it.....we were getting through outfits galore.....the nurse said to me, "has she had 3 liquid nappies in the last 12 hours"....she had done 3 in 3 hours!

Really hope its something and nothing Jammy....I get the odd loose one now and then (well dd does...), but as you say, doesn't hurt to get the stuff in, just in case...

Trace....sorry to hear about Chloe's x-ray.....enjoy your Christmas and hopefully you'll get some answers in the new year...

Interesting about Aqueous cream - I'm smothering that around DDs nose atm...

Oh I heart Brussells....stayed in the Conrad Brussells for my first wedding anniversary.....

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 13:33

Andiem glad Brussels was good. Sorry DS's been poorly. Your baking sounds fab by the way!

Bumper & Norty, thanks. I wouldn't have thought much of it if it wasn't Xmas tomorrow, just feel it would be a bad day to have DD ill and not be prepared. She's BF well now so that's good.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 24/12/2007 13:37

Excellent Jammy....fingers crossed.

Have a look at this thread.....if I had a sister as disorganised as this, I'd kill her

andiemisletoe · 24/12/2007 13:49

hi jammy sorry didn't mean to ignore you if you are exclusively bf then you don't need to give rehydration fluids you should just carry on bf this is what we do with hospitalised bf babies with d+v

hope dh got the duck bz

my dh has just got in from work so maybe he will help

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 13:54

Thanks Andiem.

justbeme · 24/12/2007 13:59

Hi - Just on here very quickly - I may not get on again - so thought I'd say
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

Havent had time to read all the posts so hope you are all ok and all your pressies arrive in time!

xxxxx

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 24/12/2007 14:58

hi all. the food making activity puts me to shame, but I have been to the supermarket and bought boxing day lunch (for DH to cook) and mince pies for DH. I made the sandwiches at lunchtime

bumper can you melt your fudge again for scrummy icecream sauce?

back later, have just downloaded skype and I'm trying to ring my sister in the middle east...

take it easy you domestic godesses

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 24/12/2007 15:01

ps, lots of love to you and yours trace, hoping you get your christmas wish.

re eczema, oats in a pop sockk dangled under the tap when the water is running is meant to help. we were precribed oilatum in the bath and diprobase as soap and moisturiser for our three. though last time the Dr said baby oil - my old HV said no way, that makes it worse. DGs remedy sounds nice though.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 15:07

DH is back after going to sainsburys AND Tesco, and bringing home £42 worth of food! That means he has spent over £250 on food this week!!!!!!!!!!! The freezer has gone from empty (defrosted on Tues) to absolutely full, and xmas food is of course included.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 24/12/2007 15:25

jelly layer is soft, but set enough to make do. we shall just have sloppy trifle this year .

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 24/12/2007 16:41

I can't find my tin ANYWHERE to do lemon cheesecake (must have slung it during kitchen move) so trifle is in the fridge!

DKMA · 24/12/2007 17:23

Hi everyone!

Been mega busy here - painting and decorating and entertaining my dad - who I haven't seen for 4 yrs!
Has a very quick scan through and sounds like you lot are far more domestic godess like than me (have bought most of Christmas dinner from M&S - and dh will be cooking it!)
Trace - you are a trooper! I hope you, little Chloe and your family have a fab day tomorrow - you all deserve it.
What's the plan with secret santa? I got a jist that we would try and open them around the same time? I'm in all evening - and would find that very exciting!!!
STILL waiting for Amazon to deliver one of dh's and pil's pressies! They are confident the driver will be here before 7pm! What do you think?!!!! Hmmmmm!

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 24/12/2007 17:28

baubles - must have deleted my last post.

I'm not very keen on skyping.

so - having deleted the post where I tred to get you all to make the decision for me - I have decided not to go to church and just watch the BBC service at 11.30 (while doing frantic present wrapping). Does that make me bad?

Do you have a big freezer jammy? I would have been doing some bargain buying if we'd had more spare cash. But I suppose given we're dieting big-time on 2nd Jan I don't want too much nice stuff in (I have put on LOADS of weight while I've been off mumsnet - had to eat doritos to occupy myself of an evening.) I'm also introducing two small formula feeds in an attempt to reduce the size of the bouncy castle I have to hump around half-in my bra (Mothercare don't do one big enough for me. Oh the shame when the assistent brought me one of the "new range for the fuller figure".)

DH is asleep on the sofa. Oh FFS.

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 24/12/2007 17:30

Hi DKMA - good to see you.

must go - DS2 in the kitchen having asked daddy a question who has promptly one back to sleep. (I wish he was at work)
