Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mamamoor · 23/10/2007 19:20

Yes, I did post before but didn't intentially disappear. Don't get much time to mnet really - dh hogs the pc in the evening and during the daytime ... well with 2 dds (one at school) and Holly not much time to myself really!! Will keep a closer eye on what's going on in future.
Having a bit of a crap time at the moment(well probably not crap compared to some). Dd1 had horrid sick bug last w/e. dh came down with it at work on the Monday, decided to come home and passed out at the wheel whilst trying to pull into a layby to be sick. Wasn't sick and wasn't really hurt but came to with airbag in face and left side wheels on crash barrier at end of layby! Rings me to tell me what has happened and that is on his way to A&E and don't hear anything for 4 hours! Anyway his Mum finally brings him home having been given the all clear and he proceeds to spend the rest of the night chucking up due to bug and shock!! Signed off work for the moment and still feeling a bit sorry for himself and not allowed to drive and no car anyway! Holly fine so far and I'm having an attack of IBS due to stress probably and it's half term!!! Ahhhh.
Sorry for mini rant! All better now!
Anything else you want to know? on a lighter note?

2boysmacca · 23/10/2007 20:00

sounds crap. Can sympathise, both my boys have the bug. Started at 2am Sunday morning and am hoping I saw the last squits today. Hope things improve for you this week.

Right, off to revise.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/10/2007 20:25

What's in your buttie boxes mrm? I need inspiration. I don't even have any bread to make sandwiches . Cooked a bit of extra pasta at tea/dinner/whatever we're calling it today time though, so that will be something for dd at least. I need diesel so might end up picking up a sandwich at the garage for me .

for your dh crashing the car to be sick mm - scary!
A bit of general background info about you and Holly would be lovely too . Roughly where in the country you are, what Holly's up to (walking/climbing/talking/eating/sleeping/anything else wise), approx how old you are, whether you have any hobbies, when you intend to get another computer because you get hooked on MN. That sort of thing.

Busy day here today. Went up to Jas' home town again, and went to Mucky Pups with same friend as I was out with on Friday night. Then went to garden centre near there for lunch, then dropped dd at childminder, went to gym/swimming, came home to see extension person again (taking measurements and stuff), got dd, had tea, cleared up, sorted washing whilst dh bathed dd, gave her her milk and put her to bed, then got to sit down and come on here at last!

Jas · 23/10/2007 20:36

How long has your friend lived there csws? Not long enough to know me, I assume.

for sickness and car crashing. I hope everyone is better soon.

I've had a not very exciting day. We had lunch in Macds with all my friends who didn't realise just how anti I am, and told the dds so I felt really mean saying no, and ended up going.

I've got people coming over tomorrow, so I really need to tidy up.My freind is bringing a huge pumpkin she got for £1 for us to carve, and cook.

I don't like pumpkin, but last year we made a Jamie Oliver recipe that was spicy and edible. Have any of you got a recipe I can try this time?

Phoenix · 23/10/2007 20:39

Quiet on here today isn't it?

Hi mamamoor . for dh's crash and you been ill.

for broadband Friz.

I've put Lew back in his grobag tonight after having him wake up crying 2-3 times a night since he's been in the cot quilt. Not sure if he's cold or not liking it but hoping he'll sleep better back in the security of his grobag .

EachPeachPearMum · 23/10/2007 21:03

Evening all!
There seems to be so many people really properly poorly at the moment too many nasty bugs around... maybe the cold now will kill them all off (the bugs, the bugs...)

I had anti-biotics 2 weeks ago to get rid of sinusitis I'd had for 3 months, it worked while I was taking them, but is as bad as ever again now. Gah, pretty much used to having it permanently anyway.

Dd's nursery just announced they're having a party on friday (for hallowe'en) and that they can go dressed up. What can 20 mo olds wear? That will stay on... prob won't use face paints as she's pretty pernickity about 'duurt' LOL

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:14

Tescos have quite nice pumpkin outfits for little people. I made a really easy spider when the dds were small with a black top, leggings, and two pairs of black tights. We still have it

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:16

Phoenix- I am going to keep ds in sleepsuits until I can't buy them big enough, because we've nver used a grow bag thin, and he won't even have covers in the cot. If you've found something that works, don't change it til you have to.

Phoenix · 23/10/2007 21:21

Dh wanted me to perservere (sp?) with the quilt but when ds wakes up who do u think it is who has to go up to settle him? That's right ME!!!

We've never had a problem with him in his grobag so i thought the same Jas, if it aint broke don't fix it

EachPeachPearMum · 23/10/2007 21:27

Jas- thanks. Last Hallowe'en she actually had some black clothes, this year she has nothing black. I'm still trying to decide if I 'approve' of hallowe'en....

EachPeachPearMum · 23/10/2007 21:29

Phoenix- if he still fits his grobag, why switch?
The only reason I was considering was because dd is about to outgrow hers, and I wasn't fancying spending money on 18-36 mo grobags, which I'd probably replace with duvet soon anyway.

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:33

I don't mind Halloween. It is trick or treating I hate. I never let the dds do it and they moan costantly. Luckil this year dd1s school are having a disco in the evening so she can go to that, and dd2 has her first week of Brownies, so she will be happy(and out of the house)

Phoenix · 23/10/2007 21:35

Yeah i know eepm, he's been in 18-36 since last winter anyway so he's got plenty of room in them still.

mustrunmore · 23/10/2007 21:36

csws I have no bread either! Boys getting pasta sausages cucumber carrot and an egg(that ds1 wanted but wont eat!)

Ds2 has a little spider costume from Asda. Says age 3-5 but it only just fits him

Bad evening. Ds1 still awake(I've only nipped down hre for a wee!). My friend took htem to the park for an hour this lunchtime. God knows what she made them do, but ds2 slept 2-4 (thats the 45min boy remember) and ds1 slept 3-4.30 on the settee, hence not asleep now (and wet himself in the process!)

Courier finally came back for the second parcel at 4.30pm (took the first at 10am, asid he was only getting one, so the buyer had to call and sort it out). Thats after waiting in all day yesterday too(because she actually hadnt booked it; forgot to checkout properly!. Not very happy

EachPeachPearMum · 23/10/2007 21:37

Jas- will you be hiding out in the rear of the house from trick or treaters?
We didn't get any last year, though we didn't have any lights on at the front of the house. This year, I sit in the living room most evenings, so I feel we may get some knocking.

Phoenix · 23/10/2007 21:39

One of my friends is having a toddler hallowe'en party at her house (mad woman) and i'm looking for a bit of something for ds to wear, just a black t shirt or something, but he doesn't have to get dressed up.

I hate trick or treating too, ds will never do it. Me and dh have been known to sit upstairs with the house in darkness so we don't have to answer the door

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:40

Our sitting room is at the back of the house but the computer is at the front, so I may be mumsnetting in the dark. I usually just ignore, which is easy without the dds here.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/10/2007 21:42

Lol at all the people sitting in the dark.... across the whole country on 31st! If only I had really thick heavy curtains so no-one would know!
Will probably just have to take laptop into the dining room

Mamamoor · 23/10/2007 21:42

Thanks all.
Me - 41, dh 39 (my toy boy!)
Got married in 2000 -
dd1 (Emily) born Feb 2002
living in Devon,
hobbies - washing, cleaning, cooking, wiping snotty noses, doing the school run, shouting and being grumpy!
Seriously ... sleeping, reading, lying in the bath reading, drinking wine and eating chocolate! Walking (don't drive). Don't have the energy for much else (used to do yoga and Spanish Dancing).
Holly: sleeping well (always has done),
no dummy (hurrah - dd1 had one as she didn't sleep well!);
walking since Easter now running at a precarious angle!!!; is trying to do jumping (hilarious) loves dancing
Eating erratic but good at the moment: current faves are toast, pasta (with Mama's homemade tomato sauce!), satsumas, chocolate buttons(!) and bananas (lalas)
Still having milk out of a bottle early am and bedtime but in Avent beaker the rest
Some of what she says is recognisable, Mummy, Daddy, Leli (Emily), Meme (herself), moon, ball, and lots of animal noises and attempts at others - can usually make herself understood (her parents are so thick)
Has just started to clutch her nappy and make unhappy noises when she has had a wee!
Loves dolls - ahhhhhhhh! and the rocking horse. Has become a CBeebies addict!!!
Enough already .... you did ask!

Phoenix · 23/10/2007 21:44

It's not too bad for us this year cos we're both working til 7 (well i always do anyway)so we shouldn't get that many after that time anyway (hopefully)

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:45

Thanks Mamamoor.

I have an Emily (dd2) too.

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:46

I had loads knock at 8 last year, Phoenix, including the wierd couple down the road with their two year old!

Jas · 23/10/2007 21:46

weird

Mamamoor · 23/10/2007 21:52

Haloween - Have refused to let dd1 go trick or treating as don't really believe in it. Will however let her dress up in her witches costume to answer the door til about 7 pm. Last year we left a basket of sweets and a note saying 'please don't ring the bell - baby asleep' but help yourselves to a few goodies' and it worked. We live on an estate with lots of kids so we always get lots of visitors - most of which I know from going on the bus to school!!

Phoenix · 23/10/2007 21:52

Well we'll sit in the dark for a couple of hours then

I'm dreading bonfire night with Lew, as he was hysterical at my godsons birthday in June when the big kids started bursting the balloons. I can't see him going to sleep with all the bloody loud fireworks going off above his head (even more so now he's in the attic)
