Just putting this on in case anyone wants to catch up? We're all at different stages, so might be able to help each other out?

@Delilah7 @RanchoRelaxo @MrsR16 @thumper59 @trashkitten10 @Bostonfern @crossfitgirl sorry I know I'm missing people, I'm blaming newborn brain!

I'll leave the link on the 'pregnancy' catching up thread xxx

@MrsEG, we've been the same to be honest, we've been seeing family until this weekend when we decided to be more careful. I reckon Boris will announce lockdown tonight...

Hi ladies, so happy to finally be joining this thread!! My beautiful baby girl Dina was born at 00.19 on Saturday morning - she's currently snoozing with DH after a feed 🥺 I can't believe she's finally here, I don't even feel like I was pregnant it's flown that quickly?! 😭 how are we all doing? X

stormtrooperjulian · 24/03/2020 16:58

@cupcakesandglitter congratulations! I love the name. How are you feeling?

Fivebyfive2 · 25/03/2020 10:59

How are you girls getting on with lockdown?? I miss my mum!!

Also, after a bit of guidance please... with 'self settling'? Joe is 1t weeks tomorrow and has started doing roughly 7-7 with a wake up about 1/2am for a feed, which is awesome 🙂 but he mostly feeds himself to sleep! We've tried getting him to self settle, by getting him comfy, playing his sounds etc. It has worked a few times, but more miss than hit! We usually end up holding and humming, seems to be the golden combination! But worried about bad sleeping habits!! Anyone got tips?? Xxx

15 weeks, stupid phone!!

MrsEG · 25/03/2020 12:58

@Fivebyfive2 The twins are pros at it. They’ve had no choice as often I have been alone with them so can sometimes only tend to one at a time. The things that always work are dummies, dim lights and some white noise (I use the sound sleeper app on my phone). If they start screaming bloody murder than I go pick them up; but usually, within 5 mins the eyes are dropping and it’s not long before they’ve gone off!

cupcakesandglitter · 25/03/2020 22:04

Thankyou @stormtrooperjulian I'm doing well Thankyou, still in that whole bubble I think! How're you? How's Dex? X

@Fivebyfive2 oh it's horrible isn't it!! I'm hoping it'll be safe soon as everything slowly returns back to normal, I hate being in isolation!

Fivebyfive2 · 28/03/2020 15:41

@MrsEG, we keep trying, I'm sure he'll get it eventually 😕 at least once asleep he does decent blocks now! How are you and the boys? Xx

@cupcakesandglitter, how's Dina doing with her first few days in the world? Hope you are feeling OK xx

@MrsR16, hope Ethan is doing well? Are you gearing up for round 3 of jabs?? Xx

@stormtrooperjulian @thumper59, are you guys out of the sleep regression?? Not sure what to expect as we approach the 4 month mark... Can he regress much if he's only just got the hang of sleep??! 🙏

Waaaaaagh we put Joe on his tummy for tummy time today, he's been getting better with it recently... He rolled onto his side 😀

How's everyone doing with lockdown? We're on the halfway point of quarantine because of coughs. Keeping busy... Joe is being a judge 😂

@fivebyfive2 sleep regression seems to be going for us now! 🤞🏼 the last week and a bit Freddie has been going to bed 7:30-8 and sleeping until 5-6:30 with little waking through the night. He seems to be going closer to 6:30 now which is fab! That's only been the last couple of nights though. Also noticing a pattern of him napping around 10am for an hour- 2 hours and then again at 2 for an hour or 2. He's just woke up from that nap actually!! Now he may go until 7:30 or he might have a power nap around 4:30-5 but that only lasts 20-30 mins. He fell into this pattern himself after the sleep regression to be honest, I have never really tried to keep to any real pattern as before this lockdown I never knew where I'd be day to day!! Hope joe is well, he's gorgeous

Hope everyone else is ok!! I've really fell behind with this thread but will try and keep upto date now I am at home, all the time!!

A little pic of Freddie's first time in the garden the other day 🙂

@thumper59, aaahhh he looks so happy!! Glad to hear he has started sleeping better again, hope it continues! xxx

@Fivebyfive2 oh god, look at Joe's little face! Super scrummy 😍 Ethan's not too bad! Think we're in the 4 month sleep regression... he's been stirring any time from 1:30am to 4:00am and not settling back into deep sleep 🤦‍♀️ aside from that, he's pretty good! Growing like a weed still, so much so I've started him on baby porridge! His tummy can't take much more than 8oz at the moment, and I find just a few tiny spoonfuls of porridge helps fill him up. Yep, his final set of jabs are next week 😢 dreading these as I'll obviously be taking him on my own!

@thumper59 Freddie's ridiculously gorgeous 😍 I love his little hat!!

MrsEG · 28/03/2020 22:30

@Fivebyfive2 we’re not doing too bad! Struggling without my folks to help out and being locked in the house so much of the day but it’s bearable for now! Ah Joe is so adorable. Did I tell you Conor’s middle name is Joe? Hope the sleep regression isn’t too painful! I am truly dreading that phase haha!

@thumper59 oh he is just gorgeous. I love to hear that he has fallen in to a sleep/nap pattern himself - I keep wondering if I should be implementing a routine with the boys but I just wanna let them do what’s natural at the same time!

@MrsR16 check Ethan our on solids! They grow up so fast!

So I truly mastered the tandem feed this week one handed! I can’t do it long but still haha! It’s been a mental few weeks as DH is now not working with the lock down but it’s almost felt like an extended paternity leave; plus now we know the self employed will get some financial support we feel less panicked about it all. I just so wish we could see family as these two are bloody hard work when it’s just on us all day! I look forward to our daily walk so so much, please Boris don’t take that away from us!!

thumper59 · 29/03/2020 13:25

@MrsEG aw they are gorgeous well done you on tandem feeding! That's fab. Oh I know I love our one walk a day! I know some people swear by routine but I just let him lead us with everything because we usually live quite a busy life I didn't want to be to ruled by having to have him home and down to sleep by a certain time. I know it works for some but it's not for us! I think it's made him a pretty chilled out baby though. He really is no bother!

@MrsR16 aw thankyou! The hat is tiny 😂 but we got it for him on our hols last year when I was pregnant in Greece so needed to get it on for a pic!!

MrsR16 · 30/03/2020 11:36

@MrsEG that's awesome you've mastered the tandem feeding! Looks very helpful haha 😂😂 the twins are so bloody gorgeous...

@thumper59 aw, pictures are so important!! I stick Ethan in outfits that he hasn't worn yet, just to get a picture (even if he has really outgrown them!) just like this one... please excuse the sick all down the arm! He was a humbug!

Ttc first baby catch up with our babies!
Fivebyfive2 · 30/03/2020 12:34

I'm loving all the pictures!!

The last 2 nights, after Joe has had his middle of the night feed, he's still been awake. We tried putting him down, wrapped up and with his sounds on... He got himself to sleep both times!! 😀

@MrsR16, good luck with his jabs, ours are on the 8th. I'll be thinking of you! Does he like the baby porridge?? I'm so looking forward to when Joe can try food 😀

@MrsEG, rocking the tandem feed 😎

@thumper59, we don't have a daytime routine either, apart from getting up at the same time in the morning. Evenings have become a bit more structured recently.

Dh is back at work tomorrow, full isolation over. Good because I can have a walk, bad because I'll be on my own with Joe all day, but hopefully it will be OK. He'll be sick of me soon 😂

Hope everyone is doing OK xxxx

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 30/03/2020 22:24

@Fivebyfive2 woop woop for Joe getting himself to sleep!! He's a clever boy 😊 Ethan does like porridge! He only has a few spoonfuls every couple of days, as he's not quite 4 months just yet... (I have no doubt my HV will tell me off if she knew I was giving him that now!) but he does seem to enjoy it. We have a couple of fruit pouches (Aldi's version of Ella's Kitchen pouches) to try him with soon!

You'll soon get back into your routine with DH back at work 😊 I'm completely out of mine, with DH WFH at the moment... 🤦‍♀️ but it is nice having him here so when Ethan chucks up, he can throw a muslin or baby wipe at me to help haha xx

MrsR16 · 30/03/2020 22:25

OMG, I completely forgot to say on my last post - I've bought a car seat today! It'll supposedly last Ethan until he's 12 (or just no longer needs a car seat if he shoots up like his daddy) at a bargain price of £79! Supposed to be £279... Emma's Diary has some amazing offers but has never had anything I needed! I couldn't turn that one down though

MrsEG · 31/03/2020 15:31

@thumper59 Freddie sounds like no bother at all! What a good baby you’ve got there :) Yeah I try and let them lead the day really, way easier now we’re all housebound! I just wish I could get an evening routine with the twins - sometimes they want a bottle at 9 and we’re all in bed for 10 and I love those nights - other days they’re not hungry til closer to 11 and I practically crawl to bed!!

@MrsR16 What a gorgeous outfit! We’re finding we’re getting the twins dressed up for nothing too to use their clothes - seems such a shame they’ll never be seen by anyone in so many of them as they are powering through the 0-3!

@Fivebyfive2 Well done Joe!! What does DH do that he’s back in work? It’s looking like I’ll have DH at home now barely working until gyms are allowed to open again...!

The boys have their 8-weeks jabs this Thursday. GP still classes those as essential so we’re booked in. I’ve heard such mixed things - how did you all find them? Are they really going to cry all day once they’re done?! I’m already losing it a bit being on lockdown with them all day!

purplefig · 31/03/2020 16:06

Sorry I've been MIA! I had a rough start - it's taken me ages to feel back to normal after my hospital stay for that nasty mastitis infection. And this whole pandemic thing has been pretty rough - I've coped by deleting all the apps on my phone. Finally feeling a bit more normal now so wanted to pop on and see how everyone is getting on!

@cupcakesandglitter congratulations on Dina! How're you guys getting on?

@Fivebyfive2 Oh gorgeous Joe! I miss my mum so much too. It's the worst bit by far for me, the not being able to see friends and family. What an excellent chunk of sleep! I have no advice for self soothing as M is only 5 and a bit weeks and we're deffo not there yet Grin

@thumper59 Oh my goodness Freddie looks adorable!! Look what a happy chappy he is!

@MrsEG so glad you're doing well - I am seriously impressed at that tandem feeding! I'm with you - the daily walk is a sanity saver. We'd have to get out at some point because of the pup as we don't have a garden.

@MrsR16 Oh my gosh look at him - he's grown so much since last time I was on here. How are the two of you getting on?

Interesting chat about routines. We currently haven't been following anything - but I've just decided today to be a bit more structured with nap times as she keeps getting incredibly overtired and then is really difficult to settle. I was so shocked to read that newborns can't really handle being awake for much more than 45 mins / 1 hr. I've been massively overstimulating her poor thing! So far she's doing great today and she's had a nap after every feed.

Fivebyfive2 · 31/03/2020 18:00

@MrsR16, what a bargain!! You must be so chuffed 🙂 Lovely to hear Ethan is enjoying the porridge, let me know how he gets on with the pouches too. I've seen some do say '4 month +' so hv should be OK I'd think?? I can't wait to try Joe on food, I reckon he will love it, he's so greedy 😂

@MrsEG, dh works in a warehouse, but he came home early today which was nice! 8 week jabs... Joe screamed his head off at the Dr's, calmed down after a feed and some calpol in the waiting area straight after and was conked for an hour or so. Then he cried on and off all afternoon and early evening, but was basically fine by the nighttime. He had a bit of a tummy upset a few days later, which apparently could have been due to the jabs but not necessarily. But again, he was OK again after a day anyway. Good luck!! Xx

@purplefig, glad you're feeling more yourself xx We had basically no routine until about 10 weeks and even now at almost 16 weeks, we only have one for evenings through to early morning. Daytime is still a bit higgldy piggldy, so you're doing a fab job at 5 weeks to be having some structure!! Xx

Joe rolled from front to back today and self settled for a day nap, both firsts 😀 Unfortunately he also did a massive poo, mid nappy change, all over his mat as well... I had to call mum for moral support 😂

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 01/04/2020 12:27

@MrsEG I'm sure they're growing so quickly! Ethan's 8 week jabs weren't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting! He just slept lots... still ate the same! I took calpol with me to the surgery and gave him his first lot there. The nurse told me to give him 3 more doses, 1 every 4 hours after. I've got Ethan's 16 week jabs on Thursday, so I'll be thinking of you!!

@purplefig sorry you've not been well! That must have been horrible for you... glad you're on the mend now though 😊 we're doing ok! Being stuck inside with just one walk a day is driving me a bit demented though - I like getting out and about!

@cupcakesandglitter how did I completely miss your post about Dina??? Congratulations!! I hope you're enjoying all the newborn cuddles 😍 it's the best time ever! May not feel it when you're awake for the fourth time overnight, but when you look back, it's a beautiful time!

@Fivebyfive2 yeah, I'm sure the HV would be ok... not that I'm going to tell her anyway! 😂 I'm excited to try the pouches! He does really well with taking from a spoon, which is good. Joe will be ready for food before you know it! He's only a week younger than Ethan isn't he? Check Joe out rolling from front to back! Ethan is not showing any interest in rolling over at all 😂😂 aw, I hate those poos where it just seems to keep coming! I always get DH to help (joy of him WFH!) hehe xx

MrsEG · 01/04/2020 14:32

@purplefig How is the mastitis now, are you fully recovered? One of my NCT mums has had a rough go with breastfeeding from the start, it sounds really rough. I don’t think anyone prepares women for how hard it really is! My boys are on formula now but I watched my sister cry many a tear over her feeds. Hope you’re coping okay! Yeah this pandemic is a shit show isn’t it. I’ve lost all of my outside help and it’s making the days very long and hard! Yep - I didn’t realise that trying to keep babies awake was like the worse thing to do!! I just let the twins lead the day in a way - but I’m craving a bit more structure now. I did look in to it though and apparently trying a routine before 12 weeks is fruitless! But I have found a book on it, so I’ll spend the next month reading through and getting prepared!

@Fivebyfive2 @MrsR16 Great to hear your jabs stories! I think we’ll take them straight on a walk once we leave the GP and hope for the best!

purplefig · 02/04/2020 20:32

@Fivebyfive2 thanks - I think it's the lockdown tbh, would go a bit mental without some rhytym to the day. Go Joe rolling from front to back - clever baby! Less so the massive poo Grin
@MrsR16 thanks, feeling way better now. I know, it's hard being at home for so much of the day - but hopefully it'll be worth it.
@MrsEG how're you and the boys doing? So hard without support isn't it? I'm finding that with one baby, let alone two! I'm fully recovered now thanks, but it was a rough start! I stuck with BFing through it because they said it's the best way to clear it, plus she didn't seem bothered by my giant swollen boob! It's totally painless and chilled now, but yes, I think a heads up that it can be tricky would be good. I need a bit of structure or I feel like I'm losing my mind, especially with this lockdown. M is only 6 weeks tomorrow but she's responding pretty well - basically I feed her, play until she starts to yawn and then it's straight down for a nap. Wake up, rinse, repeat. Then there's a few things we do every day e.g. she's up at 6am every day (with DH!), we go for a walk every day around 5ish and then in the evening she feeds around 6, 8 and 10pm ready to hopefully get some good chunks of sleep overnight. Who knows though - it could all go out the window tomorrow, the joy of babies eh?! Grin Let me know how you get on with your book.

TrashKitten10 · 03/04/2020 18:39

Hi everyone, hope you're all managing okay being cooped up

@purplefig Glad you're all recovered and have got into a good routine. Hats off to you, I think we've only really just got into a routine now and Daisy is 5 months haha

@fivebyfive2 Well done Joe learning how to roll. Daisy has now got really confident rolling from her back to her front but then can't roll back and gets very frustrated. Maybe her and Joe should teach each other how to roll the other way! 😂

@MrsEG How did the jabs go?

Daisy is changing so much, it's amazing seeing her little personality develop. DH is just her favourite person right now so she's loving him working from home and spends all day gazing and giggling at him (not like I carried her for nine months and gave birth to her or anything- ungrateful much!) She's currently being a real monkey with her milk though and having always been a reliable guzzler she's become really disinterested in eating. She had been managing 7 ounces but I'm doing well now to get 3.5 into her before she's craning her neck around and trying to get back to playtime. I have found that if I give her a break and come back to the bottle 45mins or so later then she will have some more but I don't know if this 'snacking' is a bad habit to get into. If I try to encourage her to eat more though she just arches her back and loudly protests. I'm hoping she's just too busy discovering and learning to want to eat. I weighed her and she's dropped from the 75th to 50th centile even though she's very tall (9-12month clothes already!) so I'll definitely keep an eye on her but hopefully it's just a phase. One more month until starting solids so maybe she will take to that more :)

Fivebyfive2 · 03/04/2020 21:00

@trashkitten10, yes they should definitely get together to help each other out with rolls 😂 Same with dh being the favourite parent at the moment; Joe absolutely adores his dad, just gazes up at him with a massive grin on his face!

@MrsEG @MrsR16, how did the jabs go?

Hope everyone is doing OK with lockdown. So glad it's the weekend, we obviously aren't doing much, but at least dh will be home as back up 🙂
