Just putting this on in case anyone wants to catch up? We're all at different stages, so might be able to help each other out?

@Delilah7 @RanchoRelaxo @MrsR16 @thumper59 @trashkitten10 @Bostonfern @crossfitgirl sorry I know I'm missing people, I'm blaming newborn brain!

I'll leave the link on the 'pregnancy' catching up thread xxx

@stormtrooperjulian, aaahh he is gorgeous!! How do you get on at swimming? Thinking of taking Joe when he's a bit bigger, but the thought of the logistics is quite alot 😂

Sooo... We've had some drama today! Turns out dh's parents are splitting up?!! They came over and just announced it. Apparently the plan is for Him to keep the house and She is getting a flat... Probably very near to us 😳 Fun times ahead!!

MrsR16 · 19/01/2020 19:32

@Fivebyfive2 oh goodness, that doesn't sound good! I hope your DH is ok? I know he's a big boy, but still... can't be easy! I hope she doesn't move too close! 😬

Fivebyfive2 · 22/01/2020 19:30

@MrsR16, how was your weekend with your sis? Hope you guys had an awesome time catching up xxx Dh is doing OK thanks, his parents have never been especially happy together to be honest!

We've got Joe's hip test and our 6 week checks tomorrow (dh is most excited for me to get the 'go ahead' for Fun Times 😂 Then health visitor Fri. I'm assuming that's just a general check on how we're getting on?

Hope everyone is doing OK this week? Xx

@Fivebyfive2 thankfully she's here till early Saturday morning, but it's been wonderful! Aside from having to take Ethan to hospital... he scared the crap out of me while we were out with my family - my dad was watching him and he hadn't moved in a little while which is unusual for him. We then couldn't rouse him, at which point I started really panicking. The ambulance was called and people stopped to see if they could help! It was absolutely horrendous... we then had to spend the night in hospital. The icing on the cake was that one of the junior doctors while examining him noticed that his testicles looked a little discoloured and asked how they got bruised. Cue the safeguarding team being alerted!! 🤦‍♀️ one of the registrars looked and thought it was just pigmentation but had to get it checked. The consultant had a look on the ward round and agreed with the registrar that it was just pigmentation! Ethan then wee'd all over the consultant 😂 we were eventually let out over 6 hours after the consultant said we could go! So all in all, a very eventful couple of days that I would never wish on anyone. It was horrible.

I know what you mean about the 6 week check up - DH is absolutely thrilled at the prospect of getting back on it! I haven't thought about contraception yet though... I want to get back on the pill!

Fivebyfive2 · 22/01/2020 20:56

@MrsR16, Jesus that sounds horrendous! Think I'd have gone to pieces in your shoes! We're you treated OK at the hospital? Hope you are all feeling calmer now and it's so good that your sis is still here a few more days xx I've been thinking about the coil for a now, just because it's immediate and I won't have to worry about remembering pills!

Can't believe Joe is 6 weeks tomorrow! But at the same time, it feels like we've had him forever?!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 23/01/2020 15:03

@Fivebyfive2 yeah, it really wasn't much fun! The hospital were mostly pretty good. The worst thing was that it just took forever to do nothing! We had to keep asking for updates as to when we could go, rather than them telling us. I know what you mean about Joe (how is he 6 weeks already?!?) - it feels like we've never not had Ethan! Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 25/01/2020 04:44

Hi all, it's the weekend!! Anyone got plans? We're going into town to look for a birthday present for my mum, might even stop for a cake 🙂

We had alllll the appointments this week! Hip scan was fine and Joe slept through the whole thing 😂 6 week gp check was horrendous, he screamed the place down, but they're happy with him so that's the main thing. Also had the health visitor... He has gained 3 pounds in 6 weeks so is 8.11 now 😀 Hopefully this will stop mil asking 'are you sure he gets enough from you' 🙄 She also advised infacol because although he doesn't cry much, he is unsettled with what we think is a bit of trapped wind, so trying that from tonight, hopefully it makes him feel better 🤞

She asked about how much we get out and if he is doing proper smiles yet. Said we go out sometimes but probably not as much as I'd like, but now I'm fully recovered from the c section and I'm more confident with Joe /the pram etc, we have just started to go out more. Have emailed about joining baby massage as well!

Stupid question ladies, how do you know they're smiling and not just for wind? Do you just 'know' when it happens?? Health visitor asked if he was smiling and cooing yet... I've heard some different noises the last few days and he's definitely more alert etc, but couldn't really say for sure, so we have another appointment in a couple of weeks to review the social side of his development.

MrsR16 · 25/01/2020 10:16

@Fivebyfive2 hey lovely lady! We don't have any plans as such - we're just sat at the doctor's surgery waiting for our 6 week check up now 😊 I love Infacol - it's helped Ethan so much!! Joe is turning into a gorgeous little chunky monkey 😊 it's wonderful to know they're doing well, isn't it? I tend to find that proper smiles don't come with rolling eyes (classic sign of either wind or supertiredness with Ethan). Picture of the only smile I've managed to get with a kind of smile so far... just because he's adorable 😍😍😍

stormtrooperjulian · 27/01/2020 17:26

I've been meaning to reply to this thread for ages and keep getting distracted.

@MrsR16 he's so beautiful! How did the 6 week check go?

@Fivebyfive2 I love baby massage, and Dex seems to love it too, he sleeps so well afterwards. When he started smiling it was pretty obvious when it was deliberate rather than just wind, it would be in reaction to something I was doing and he would make eye contact with me when he smiled.

Dex is going through the 4 month sleep regression at the moment so I'm pretty tired, I'd got used to him sleeping through the night and now he's waking and feeding overnight more than he did as a newborn 😑

MrsR16 · 27/01/2020 20:30

@stormtrooperjulian I know what you mean about being distracted! 😂 it's hard work being a new mum! Our 6 week check went really well - Ethan's on the 25th centile but the doctor's not worried because of his steady progression on that line which is great! He's eating 5oz 6 times a day, but sleeping much more at night - I had 5 and a half hours' sleep the other night! 🤣 I hope the sleep regression doesn't last too much longer for you... I'm not looking forward to it! And DH is supposed to be away the week that Ethan hits 4 months, so we'll see how things go 😂

Fivebyfive2 · 29/01/2020 08:03

@stormtrooperjulian, how are you guys getting on with the sleep regression? Xx

Things are a bit better at home after dh and I had the talk Mon morning. We've adjusted our evening routine a bit to try and improve things, will let you know how it goes!

I breastfed in public for the first time yesterday! Just at a little soft play place in the town, thought it'd be a good place to start with. Hoping to build my confidence up so I can feed him in regular cafes etc if needed.

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 29/01/2020 23:02

@Fivebyfive2 that's great that you are trying a new routine! Congrats on breastfeeding in public! I'm sure you'll become a pro in no time at all 😊

In other happy news, Ethan's finally decided that bath time is not the time to scream the house down! We nearly had smiles during it tonight which was amazing haha 😂😂

Fivebyfive2 · 30/01/2020 04:04

@MrsR16, that's awesome!! How often do you bath Ethan? We only bath Joe 2/3 times a week at the moment. Xx

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 30/01/2020 10:23

@Fivebyfive2 same here! We try and do Monday Wednesday and Friday with maybe a bonus one at the weekend if he needs it xx

Fivebyfive2 · 30/01/2020 11:51

So... Tomorrow night, dh and I are planning on going to a restaurant down the road for a meal and mum and dad will come to watch Joe. I'm half looking forward to it and half dreading it /feeling guilty for looking forward to it, if that makes sense?! Daft as they're great with him and we won't even be gone for long! I must say, will be nice to eat a meal with 2 hands though!

Saturday and Sun we're taking him to meet our respective nans... Predict lots of cooing 😂

What's everyone's weekend plans? Xx

OP posts:
stormtrooperjulian · 31/01/2020 17:55

@Fivebyfive2 sleep was awful on Tuesday night (I was barely functional on Wednesday), better on Wednesday then better again last night so hopefully we're on the way out of the sleep regression. I won't count on it though. Well done on breastfeeding in public! The first time I did I was with my nct group and half of them were feeding too so I didn't feel like I stood out too much. Now I'll just get a boob out anywhere 😂
Have a lovely meal tonight! I love going out for dinner with DH, its really nice to feel normal again, but by the time the bill comes I'm definitely ready to get back to Dex.

thumper59 · 31/01/2020 19:43

Hope your all well! Freddie is 12 weeks now. He's been swimming and out for afternoon tea in the last week 😀

Will have a good read through and catch up as I've not been on in ages!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/02/2020 10:50

@stormtrooperjulian, hope you're getting a bit more sleep now the regression has eased?? Xx

@thumper59, aaaah love the pic! Swimming sounds awesome, we definitely wanna take Joe when he's a bit bigger. Might see if we can go 2 or 3 bathtimes without him kicking off first though 😂

Meal out was lovely, managed to not freak out/run home/call every 10 mins 😂 Joe was absolutely fine and mum and dad loved having him to themselves for a couple of hours. Although he did do his very first poonami with them 😂😲

Anyone else have a fidget baby at night?? Joe is sooo fidgety at night sometimes, doesn't look comfy but isn't crying or making the Hungry face?! He settles for a few mins then starts again, keeps me up and I'm never sure if I should leave him or pick him up?!! Makes me feel a bit lacking in the instincts department, 😕

Although we've had proper smiles and cooing this morning, it was adorable 😍 Dh was there for it too, he got a bit emotional!

Happy weekend all! Xx

Hi all!

Any tips/warnings for baby's first set of jabs?? I have to take Joe tomorrow! We've got the baby calpol in as I've read he may need it afterwards.

I'm also thinking of getting a vibrating bouncy chair. We had a 2nd hand swing one, but he doesn't seem to like it much. He does seem to enjoy being gently bounced when held though and I've heard the vibration can help with wind and to settle them down??

How's everyone getting on? Xxx

OP posts:
stormtrooperjulian · 05/02/2020 11:02

@thumper59 ahhh he's so cute! And he looks so big, how much does he weigh now?

@Fivebyfive2 you'll need to give calpol straight away, the meningitis jab can cause a temperature. Dress him in leggings so it's easy to get at his thighs, and don't look at his face when they inject him (that was my mistake 😭) . Remember it's worse for you than it is for him! Pretty sure I cried more than Dex did during his first jabs, he forgot about it as soon as I cuddled him.
We have a vibrating chair for Dex, he settles happily in it to play with the toys. The baby bjorn bouncer is really good too, insanely expensive new but fairly easy to find second hand.

thumper59 · 05/02/2020 11:09

@fivebyfive2. Echo what @stormtrooperjulian has said. It's so sad but they soon forget!! I cried for a day, Freddie cried for about 2 mins 😂

@stormtrooperjulian he's 13lb 14.5oz. He's a big lad! 😂 thankyou, I hope your well 😌

MrsR16 · 05/02/2020 15:43

@Fivebyfive2 Ethan has his jabs tomorrow as well! I've made DH take an hour off work so he can come too! We've got the calpol at the ready... 😕

Picture just because! 😂

Fivebyfive2 · 05/02/2020 20:09

@MrsR16, let's check in tomorrow to compare notes! Dh is at work but my mum is coming with us.

@thumper59, sounds like Freddie is coming on a treat 🙂

@stormtrooperjulian, thanks for the tip! We're researching bouncers now, hoping to get one this weekend.

Joe has been soooo hungry today, maybe another spurt?! Had to get him some more 0-3 clothes, he's too big for his newborn stuff now. He's my big sack of spuds 😀

@Fivebyfive2 I hope both Joe and Ethan are babies who just aren't affected by the jabs!! 🤞🤞 (he's absolutely adorable!) xx

thumper59 · 06/02/2020 09:30

Fred has his second jabs this morning 😫 defo gonna cry (me more than him!)

Hope your all well. I am going through high chair Saga at the mo; trying to find the one I want and getting replies off people is proving extremely hard!

Freddie is getting pretty much onto his side now, I think we will have a roller at maybe 4 months!! This is us right now. He loves this playmat!
