Just putting this on in case anyone wants to catch up? We're all at different stages, so might be able to help each other out?

@Delilah7 @RanchoRelaxo @MrsR16 @thumper59 @trashkitten10 @Bostonfern @crossfitgirl sorry I know I'm missing people, I'm blaming newborn brain!

I'll leave the link on the 'pregnancy' catching up thread xxx

@Fivebyfive2 hello you! Glad you're doing ok 😊 I didn't have to do much - he very much wanted to sit up! He keeps trying to sit himself up from lying down (which is hard enough for a fully grown adult, let alone a 4 month old!) so I knew he was ready for proper sitting up. It's just a case of encouraging him and not letting panic set in if he face plants the sofa - we just laugh! He seems to love it anyway haha 😂😂

@MrsEG I bet! 2lb is a huge amount! That's great that they're napping so well! Ethan is not... it's a huge fight every nap time at the moment, yet he goes down ok for nighttime sleep! Go figure that one! 😂

Fivebyfive2 · 13/04/2020 20:45

@MrsEG, aaah the boys are so good, you're definitely smashing it! I think all babies hate tummy time, especially when they're young. Joe just smiles and flips over now, like 'naaah mum, this isn't happening today' 😂

@MrsR16, omg Joe is the same, goes down OK in the eve and during the night (mostly!) but the daytime... I swear the boy has fomo and tries to fight naps in case he misses the fun?!

Might try getting Joe to sit up with some cushions etc. It'll give us something to focus on in lockdown 😛

Well, dh is playing Doom downstairs, Joe is asleep in the snuzpod so I'm in bed with some Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream 😋

@Fivebyfive2 I'm putting it all down to the 4 month sleep regression! My understanding is that they forget how to link sleep cycles together as their brain's developing... doesn't make daytime naps any easier! I'm tempted to start putting Ethan in his cot for daytime naps to see if that helps! Or just stop him screaming in my face... that's really starting to get to me! I'll look forward to seeing Joe sitting up with help! 😊 xx

Fivebyfive2 · 14/04/2020 14:20

@MrsR16, oohhh Joe has been having a cry day today, no idea what's up?!! He was really happy this morning, then from about 11 onwards he went totally the other way! He was ok in his pram on our walk, had a nap but started as soon as we got home. He's been feeding and sleeping since lunchtime, hoping he comes round in a better mood... Probably will cheer up when his dad comes home 🙄😂

Here is a pic of him 'sitting' this morning, when he was happy 😀

@Fivebyfive2 I think I've genuinely cried as much as Ethan today! 😂 I just hate not knowing what's wrong with him or how to help him! Joe looks very impressed with himself! Bless him 😍

Fivebyfive2 · 14/04/2020 15:43

@MrsR16, Joe has been like a newborn this afternoon!! Non stop feeding, falling asleep on the boob and if I move he has a meltdown and starts feeding again?!! Dh called to say he is working until 7 but not needed Thursday which is weird and my work have called to say my maternity top up is being stopped because of corona chaos so just smp now. Strange times!! I hope Ethan cheers up later for you!!

On the plus side, my mum just dropped off a Tommy tippy blender and weaning starter kit for when Joe is ready! Won't be for a while I don't think, but I'm excited to get prepared 😀

@Fivebyfive2 I've just figured out that Ethan (and quite possibly Joe too!) could be going through Leap 4! It's the worst one, apparently... it would explain an awful lot!! Oh, that's sad about your mat pay! However, I'm grateful that I'm not on SSP, which we possibly would be if we were pregnant and not able to work from home! Exciting to think about weaning Joe! I honestly think giving Ethan purée and baby porridge was one of the best decisions... he's learnt how to use a spoon super quick and is willing to try anything at the moment! It is wonderful to watch when they really love something 😊 xx

Fivebyfive2 · 16/04/2020 05:53

Well! 4 month regression in full swing, everything has gone to pot 🤯😮

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 16/04/2020 07:56

Oh dear @Fivebyfive2 that doesn't sound fun!! Why on earth is there a leap and a sleep regression at the same time?!? I hope you're doing ok, lovely! Back to sleeping when the baby sleeps for a little bit... 😕 xx

Fivebyfive2 · 16/04/2020 10:39

@MrsR16, whyyyy?!!

We went up to bed at 7, he was asleep by 8 (fed to sleep) but woke at 9... Took until 11.30 for him to go back down properly (self settled) he slept until 3.45... Finally fell asleep on me at 5.45 and was sleeping and feeding until 9.30! He seems happy enough this morning, just had his bath. Thank god dh is on reduced hours!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 16/04/2020 11:10

@Fivebyfive2 definitely sounds like 4 month sleep regression and leap 4 all in one! Oh lovely, that's really not much fun at all!!! Hope you're doing ok - I'm glad that your DH is on reduced hours!

MrsR16 · 17/04/2020 07:44

@Fivebyfive2 how are you doing today?

Hope everyone's ok!! Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 17/04/2020 09:43

@MrsR16, Loads better! Took him up at 7 after a big feed, he self settled around 7.30. Awake at midnight, fed and self settled by 12.45. Awake at 4.30, asleep on the boob 15 mins later 💤 until 7am 😀

I think it was better because he had a massive feed before bed and also we didn't change his nappy in the night. Dh is fab with helping with stuff like that, but he starts chatting to him etc and then Joe thinks it's playtime!! So last night was very boring for him, he didn't have the fomo 😂

How about you? I hope Ethan is happy today?? How's he getting on with food?

@MrsEG @PippaPug, how are all the boys doing? Xxx

So the lockdown continues, hope everyone is OK.

@stormtrooperjulian @thumper59, how are you ladies doing?

@ELW85 @purplefig, hope you're getting on OK with your little ones xx

Hi can I join, I'm due in 3 days!

MrsR16 · 17/04/2020 10:04

@Fivebyfive2 yay!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 that's great news! Ethan definitely has fomo... he only naps for half an hour (maybe 45 mins if I'm lucky) at any one time! 🤦‍♀️

He's not doing too badly! We've discovered he absolutely loves apples... not so keen on bananas haha! He does definitely have teeth moving, so it's very hit and miss as to whether he's happy or sad at any given moment 😕 calpol is magic though!

MrsEG · 17/04/2020 10:14

@Fivebyfive2 Hi lovely, we’ve actually had a great week this week - boys slept through twice! 8:45-6:45. I’ve been doing some gentle sleep training and can’t believe how quickly it’s worked. Nothing ‘cruel’ either no denying feeds, crying it out etc.
We are moving the boys in to their own cots in the nursery tonight though. They are such little wrigglers and often wake up so close to each other that I panic - Ruairí will have his head buried in Conors sleeping bag; I think it’s basically their way of telling me they need more space!
Other than that we’re okay - lockdown is extended but the rules/restrictions are that bit more manageable now I feel :)
Sorry to hear the sleep regression hit but sounds like Joe has done well since!
We’re the same - we don’t change nappies at night anymore unless it’s a 💩 (we take a quick whiff!) to keep them sleepy. But the past week they’ve hardly woken at night anyway!

@MrsR16 oh poor Ethan teething! If he likes Apple could you chill some slices for him to chew on? My sister used to do that with sliced cucumber when her daughter was teething.

Hope everyone is doing okay! Off topic - did anyone watch Quiz? Can’t believe how much Michael Sheen was like Chris Tarrant!!

Fivebyfive2 · 19/04/2020 13:09

We're getting Joe's room ready in the next week or so. We're hoping to start putting him in his big cot for daytime naps first to get him used to it. Then once he's 6 months in June we'll move his night sleeps to there too. Dh has 2 weeks off around that time so we're waiting until then in case it's a bumpy transition!! I can't believe how fast it is coming around to be honest... I'll probably cry when we move him out of our room 😂

How's everyone doing this weekend?

@MrsR16, how's Ethan with his teething? One of the girls in our NCT group got her baby a teething mit that she puts in the fridge then puts on his hand. I'm tempted to try Joe on one to be honest even though I don't think he's properly teething yet, just to save his fingers from being chewed to death 😂

@MrsEG, ooo I need to watch Quizz!! We're watching Dead to Me on Netflix at the moment, it's very twisty turny! Hope the boys are doing OK? Xx

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 19/04/2020 19:43

@Fivebyfive2 it's been a real struggle today!! 😕 but DH has dealt with him mostly, so it's not been too horrendous for me thankfully! Finger chewing is how Ethan started out! Now he's got the rosy red cheeks and everything, bless him... exciting about Joe going for naps in his big cot! They're getting far too big far too quickly!

@MrsEG oh that's awesome that the boys are doing so well!! I might well try the apple, although with him at the moment, he's blooming try and eat it! 😂 yes we watched Quiz! Even though we knew what happened, we still enjoyed it! Michael Sheen was brilliant!

MrsR16 · 19/04/2020 19:43

@Fedupofitnow123 completely missed your message! Hope you're doing ok! Good luck for when labour comes on! Won't be long before you have your little one in your arms

Fivebyfive2 · 20/04/2020 08:22

@MrsR16, oh no I hope you have a better day today! How was he in the night? Is it his teething do you think? Glad dh was able to give you some respite xxx

Joe was trouble last night, it's like he'd been on the blue smarties 😂 He went down OK at 7.15 (really good for him as it usually takes longer!) but was awake at 8.15 then again at midnight. He was wide awake until 2am, slept till 4.30 and was wide awake until gone 5.30!! He's just woken up again so dh has taken him downstairs. I mean obviously it's better than him being up screaming, but I'm just like 'come on child, it's not playtime'!! He napped well in the day because we're really trying to make sure he's not getting over tired, I thought that was supposed to help?! In the day it's bright, background noise, lots of play/tummy time/chatting and then we keep the room dark and quiet at night etc. Hoping it's just the 4 month regression and it will improve soon??

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 20/04/2020 08:29

@Fivebyfive2 morning! I didn't hear him at all last night but DH has just informed me that he stirred at 3 and 5 haha! 😂 I was obviously too tired! I'm positive it's all to do with his teeth moving... he's sleeping beautifully right now! 😂 we're also already on our third outfit of today - he's being super sicky at the moment for some reason.

I reckon that is just the sleep regression - bloody hard! But Joe will get back to sleeping properly, I'm sure! It's like they just forget how to sleep, or link sleep cycles together. Doesn't make it any easier!

Fivebyfive2 · 20/04/2020 08:34

@MrsR16, glad you got a good rest and aaahh good on your dh for settling him in the night 😀 Yeah hopefully he'll be back on it with sleeping before too long. Still trying to get him to self settle, he was really good at it at night up until the regression hit. It's now basically gone out the window! Still trying though and occasionally he does it. The rest of the time it's feeding and rocking just to make sure he actually gets some sleep! Xx

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 20/04/2020 09:00

@Fivebyfive2 I'm having to do that during the day! Ethan will only sleep for max of half an hour if I put him down in his cot... if I stick him on the sofa, he'll sleep for a bit longer! 😂 it's so helpful to "know" someone with a bub so close to Ethan's age!

Fivebyfive2 · 20/04/2020 11:30

@MrsR16, definitely!! Fingers crossed we're both on here when they're 6 months talking about all the lovely sleep filled nights we're getting 😂😛

Joe after his bath and 'spa'... moisturising, hair brushing and nails filed... He loves it, I think it is all the careful attention he gets from both of us while we're making him presentable 😀

Ttc first baby catch up with our babies!
